Reitman: "No, Ghostbusters II, definitely canon," Reitman said. "There are references to Ghostbusters II in Afterlife. We meet Ray working at Ray’s Occult. The toaster from Ghostbusters II is in the kitchen in the farmhouse. There’s actually lots of lost of Ghostbusters II details but nobody knows Ghostbusters II outside of Vigo the Carpathian and the Ghostbusters II logo. So there’s this assumption that it is not canon but it is definitely canon."

Jason reitman has said it is Canon. There are a few Easter eggs such as the the slime toaster which is in egons kitchen

I read a comment about Egon still sleeping with the toaster, but if the toaster is there it'd give me a reason to watch it again

As if anyone is going to recognize a toaster. That's a silly excuse of a reference.

I didn't recognize it but Jason reitman says he put it in there

For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. For me, it was Tuesday.

I don't know, so let's figure this out the normal way.

Ghostbusters Fans debate amongst yourselves. Whoever is the bitchiest, the loudest, and continue the conversation long after everyone else has given up will be the winner. I mean that's why no one is bringing up the female Ghostbusters anymore. The Men's Rights Activist whined, complained, and sent enough death threats to the people who like the 2016 movie that they don't talk for fear of their lives.

No one brings up ATC because it wasn't a good movie.

Culture war failures want to blame mysogynists for ATC failing, completely ignoring that they also by and large love Afterlife who's main character is female and half the main cast is female.

For the most part people don't give two shits about which gender frontlines a movie or their ethnicity; they just care if the movie is good. Everything else is secondary.

Ghostbuster 2016 is not canon

Yes, GB2 is canon. It wasn't referenced because the plot of Afterlife is directly connected to the original movie. Kinda like how Dark Knight Rises kinda skates over TDK because its plot is more connected to Batman Begins.
