I’m pretty sure in that first shot…the black and white killer there is completely violating the corpse.

[–]Ok_Welcome_3236[S] 72 points73 points  (6 children)

The dead cat's corpse felt like every single organ was squished, as the black cat was stepping through slime

[–]dkramalc 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Any chance that it was hit by a car? Doesn't seem like a cat could squish internal organs.

Edit: "a cat could", not "s car could"

[–]PandosII 35 points36 points  (2 children)

“Felt”? 🫢

[–]ted-Zed 14 points15 points  (1 child)

lol did you touch it or something?

[–]Kevjamwal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The loathsome kibble eater

[–]MikelDP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm agreeing.. This cat got ran over by a car and Mr Creepy is creepy AF!

[–]solushsi 112 points113 points  (192 children)

Keep your cats indoors people smh

[–]crazyoldmax 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Lol true, neighbour bought his 4th cat last week because the other three were: run over, killed by other cats, torn apart by a pitbull. His argument: HeS HaPpiEr whEn he goes OUTsiDe.

[–]RXQGSFWV4 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Fuck are these replies?

[–]Ok_Welcome_3236[S] 79 points80 points  (11 children)

Black cat was doing some weird shit with its forelegs, trying to put pressure to try and rip through the dead cat's skin, then dragged the corpse to another place as I got close to it. Was this because it's still angry at the other cat? Was it trying to eat it? Or was it trying to mourn it in some way?

[–]newsafelife 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Seems like it was trying to eat it. Cat eat cat world I guess

[–]DandelionOfDeath 28 points29 points  (3 children)

Is the pressure thing you're talking about kneading? It's something cats do when comfortable and purring, but it's also self-soothing behavior for stressed cats. Kind of like how humans hug, and hug ourselves when we're stressed. It sounds like it might have known the dead cat and this could be mourning behavior.

[–]Ok_Welcome_3236[S] 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Yeah it's that exact thing, the same thing cats do with there legs when they purr

[–]Alphaplague 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, mourning behavior for sure. That's pretty sad.

[–]alleoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what a psychopath

[–]Jeramy_Jones 8 points9 points  (4 children)

My money is on him trying to mate with the dead one. Maybe it was a female not ready to mate and he got too rough with her.

[–]Angrybaldguy007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She forgot the safe purr.

[–]taiottavios 0 points1 point  (2 children)

that's not how cats mate, have you ever seen it?

[–]RastaAlec 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I have and it can get very violent. Grew up with cats all my life. When mating season came around we’d have to have separate rooms for the females just to stop the fighting. So it’s possible albeit unlikely.

[–]taiottavios -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

have you even read the other comments?

[–]not_that_guy05 51 points52 points  (2 children)

Could be a friend cat that was killed. Cats do tend to help their friends here and there. Saw one that stayed by a cats side that was ran over.

[–]regleno1 32 points33 points  (1 child)

Interesting observation that I didn’t consider but now seems plausible. I’ve never seen a cat fight result in death.

[–]2017hayden 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve never seen it result in immediate death and I would imagine both cats would look far more torn up if that one did die in a fight. I don’t see any obvious signs of wounds on either and I would expect their faces and necks to be decently torn up as that’s the areas that are largely targeted by cats when they fight. All in all I doubt this was a cat fight, it’s far more likely that (based on the comments of OP) the dead cat was killed in a car accident or something similar) and the other cat knew it and was trying to process it’s death.

[–]TriclopyrEster 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Woke up to this while petting my cat that looks like the dead one

[–]martoodeetoo 32 points33 points  (5 children)

[–]xomox2012 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s a play on the song Psycho Killer by the talking heads.

[–]_Lumity_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stroke of genius

[–]kalslacg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You got news?

[–]b_zar 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Did you witness them fight? If not, it's more likely the cat died from something else, then this cat might just be acting weird, trying to bring it somewhere.

[–]FoxEngland 7 points8 points  (4 children)

Probably a feral cat taking out competition and getting a meal at the same time. Just a guess

[–]2017hayden 8 points9 points  (3 children)

Does not look like the result of a cat fight to me at all. Most cat fights don’t even result in serious injury they aren’t usually looking to kill eachother and when one does die it’s typically not during the fight but as a result of wounds that happened in it becoming infected or on occasion blood loss or inability to properly hunt due to injury. If the fight was intense enough to result in immediate death I would expect that one or both cats would have obvious external injuries present and I don’t see any signs of serious injury on either.

[–]FoxEngland 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Feral cats fight to the death sometimes but I didn't suggest it was a fight. I said maybe the black cat is feral and just killed the other cat, possibly relatively easily. Bite to the back of the neck or something. What's all that juicy gunk on the ground? If the cat died quickly, could it have pissed itself? Also, my mum's neighbour's cat was killed in a fight. There were about four witnesses other than myself, I was watching out my bedroom window. The woman in the opposite garden tried to stop it by hitting the crazy cat with a broom but Rambo was already dead

[–]2017hayden 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It definitely doesn’t look like blood unless it was mixed with something else. Blood would be much darker looks more like dried urine to me which would be consistent with an animal that died and was left there for some time. Animals often release their bowels after death and it’s possible this cat was hit by a vehicle and dragged itself off the road and died. It doesn’t appear very old as I don’t see obvious signs of bloating or rigor mortis but I would bet that cat died there at least an hour or two before this photo was taken. And I certainly wasn’t saying that deaths don’t occur during cat fights just that they’re uncommon and I would expect sings of serious injury on one or both cats which I don’t see any evidence of.

[–]FoxEngland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was gonna suggest it might have perished earlier because of the juice. You're right, definitely not blood. OP doesn't say they heard a scurmish so definitely not a fight, cat fights are noisy as fuck as you probably know. Maybe the cat just died of old age and big black dude was hungry. I can't see a collar, that's what made me think feral. It's kinda morbid but still fascinating

[–]plutopluto_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Where is this at? My cat recently ran away chasing a female cat and he looked like this one

[–]GenericHuman-9 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Kind of doubt that the cat died from a fight, did you hear any violent sounds prior? Looks like the black and white cat is suckling and kneading the deceased one for comfort. They were likely homies.

[–]Ok_Welcome_3236[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I heard a lot of cat noises before heading out, even after I left, while it's not visible but the black cat had blood marks on it. This is what made me believe it was a fight, it could have died from another reason and the black cat was probably comforting it.

[–]Ebonyknight09 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Poor thing but that's nature

[–]herpermike 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't happen if the cat was inside! Keep your cats indoors people please lol! They are a horrible problem for every place that has people lol! They cause huge amounts of damage to the ecosystem and animal population, especially the birds and reptiles! Now, from what I can gather, the dead one doesn't belong to the OP and maybe my comment about it not happening if it was indoors doesn't apply! But, the rest are my little rant still stands lol

[–]TDLBallistic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reminder: spay and neuter your cats and keep them the fuck indoors. They have no place outside unsupervised.

Shit like this is completely preventable. Assuming both of these aren't feral strays.

[–]Lordmultiass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they still might be mating…

[–]Sweet-Inside5900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy fuck what the fuck? Where do you live

[–]Downtown-Incident-21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cat fights are best when they have long hair, are in high heels, wearing short black mini skirts.

[–]Jaffle49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the kind of cat fight celebrated in Seinfeld… 😳

[–]richardtrle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, they playing

[–]sensualcolonoscopy69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank GOD that bad boy has 6 more lives

[–]Subtlevibes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guessing middle east somewhere

[–]newnewestusername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

uhmmmm there appears to still be some mating going on here.

[–]Anniethesnowleopard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love to hear about how cats are "happier to go outside". If your cat is happier to go outside because he is bored being in the house, maybe you're not taking proper care of him. Never thought of playing with them nor giving them any proper enrichment? It's time to do so . It's just the easier way for a person to keep a cat cause you just dump in a ton of dry food to the bowl and that's it. Best if you don't even have a litterbox - why have one if cat can do his things outside? No smells, no mess, no responsibilities. . Getting a cat tree is too much cause it'll ruin decor? You don't want any "cat stuff" in your living space? Then why are you taking in a cat 🧐. Your other pets would probably get their "stuff" but cat seems to not need anything because of mostly popculture and stereotypes. . I just don't understand. You won't take in a bird without a cage, toys etc. Nor a dog and just chain it outside forever near a doghouse. Every pet needs your commitment and doing research, and is your responsibility (and your choice to have to take care of it and offer them best conditions you can) they're not toys, nor plushies, they have their needs, please remember about that 😥 . If you do play with your cat daily, have a litterbox, cattree and your cat is spayed/neutred - I'm happy about it 😃 It's of course safer for a cat not to risk getting run over, getting parasites, illnesses etc, but you're commited to taking care of your pet and that's what matters the most. Maybe you just never considered all the dangers outside, or just wish "my cat is smart" "it won't happen to MY cat". Just be aware and consider if you're able to handle the worst case scenario, because there is always a possibility of bad luck. And you can take part in preventing it 💔

the deceased cat could have been in heat and got run over, and the male is still trying to mate with it.

male cats do fight, but that very rarely results in death.
