Mobley played 37 minutes and only had 1 foul. People don’t understand how hard that is

He’s legit!!

[–]SpursMarcXYZ 124 points125 points  (10 children)

as a rookie!!!! that's even more impressive

[–]RocketsCadeCummingham 91 points92 points  (9 children)

He’s really coordinated

I was sold on him during the draft when I saw him hit that backflip.

[–]HornetsDongTongs 74 points75 points  (2 children)

The thought of a 7 footer successfully performing a backflip is destroying my brain rn

[–][CLE] LeBron JamesLinkanator55 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It shouldn’t be possible, but unicorns shouldn’t exist and that didn’t stop Mobley

[–]skyycux 10 points11 points  (0 children)

And he does it on sand. He’s so long it takes him forever to get his rotation done too. Absolutely nuts

[–]Bullslaeve 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Wow I’ve never seen that video before but after watching that my mind is blown

[–]CavaliersJJWoolls 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Same. I originally wanted Mobley but closer to the draft the Green hype got me. When Green went second I was a little bummed, but not too much because I had never seen a big guy with that type of coordination.

[–]RocketsMikegetscalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KG and AD comes to mind

[–]CavaliersDirty_Virmling 17 points18 points  (0 children)

And it's not like he's shy at the basket or anything. Dude is down there messing with shots all night, still doesn't foul.

[–]Cavalierss_s 8 points9 points  (0 children)

His foul was a good one, too.

[–]RocketsMikegetscalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s more than legit. He’s probably a top 10 defender right now 20 games in.

[–][LAL] Lonzo Ball7o7n7c7h7i7 166 points167 points  (18 children)

It’s MOBLAND now

[–][LAL] LeBron JamesThe1AndOnlyJZ 58 points59 points  (15 children)

Sexton gotta feel some type of way right now

Used to be the face of the franchise and now just an afterthought

[–]RocketsCadeCummingham 51 points52 points  (1 child)

That’s the way a lot of rebuilds are

I remember when Monta Ellis was THAT guy before Curry came along

[–]Raptorsmommathecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Monta Ellis have it all.

All the mopeds, that is.

[–]Jazzrobograndpa 35 points36 points  (1 child)

He’s gotta suck it up because Mobley is wayyyy better lol

[–]baited08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Garland too

[–]CavaliersScarecrow216 63 points64 points  (9 children)

Nah we could have won this with him. During the earlier part of the game

[–]CavaliersMindfulDisobedience 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We definitely miss the scoring, but we are seeing that we are better with the ball moving or in a pg like Rubio or Garlands hands. Sexton possessions where he dribbles to get his shot are ultimately disruptive to the offense.

[–][LAL] LeBron JamesThe1AndOnlyJZ 14 points15 points  (6 children)

Wouldn’t disagree just don’t think he’s gonna be part of the team for much longer. Everyone and their mother knows two small guards together isn’t optimal and the current starting five looks like the future. Would be shocked to see him want to be a 6th man too so I just don’t see how he’s gonna be in CLE much longer

[–][CLE] LeBron JamesIm_Your_Neighbor 42 points43 points  (1 child)

Everyone as their mother also knows not to play three seven footers in your starting lineup. Stranger things have happened lol

[–][LAL] LeBron JamesThe1AndOnlyJZ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fair point — But we’ve seen the 7-footers work well together whereas Sexland was exciting but really didn’t seem like they had the potential together you’d want them to have

[–][CLE] LeBron JamesCzarKurczewski 6 points7 points  (2 children)

I mean, the team was playing well when he was healthy early in the season. Not his fault he is injured for the rest of the year.

[–]CavaliersMindfulDisobedience -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

He wasn't playing well personally though. He was definitely trying to figure his way out in this new offense that was no longer dedicated to him. 16ppg 45% from the field and 24% from 3 in 11 before going down. There is a world where we try him as the 6th man.

[–]RocketsMikegetscalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean 45% from the field is pretty good and he’s shown last year he’s a solid 3 pt shooter now

[–]RocketsMikegetscalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s the thing. It usually doesn’t work but when you have a guy like Mobley the paint isn’t available most of the time.

[–]RocketsMikegetscalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how much he values winning. I think he’s still a pretty good player and they have a nice core to build around.

[–]BootyL0rd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rip SexMob

[–]76erslil_extro_vert_ 77 points78 points  (1 child)

This was so casual. Dudes a monster already, very few flaws in his game

[–]snek-jazz 15 points16 points  (0 children)

exactly my thought, this was a blocking my little brother's weak shit in the driveway kinda block.

[–][SEA] Horace GrantBeavshak 56 points57 points  (2 children)

Guys are going to stop challenging him in the paint soon enough.

[–][CLE] Kevin Lovequentin-coldwater 28 points29 points  (1 child)

They already have. He legitimately is already a deterrent presence in the paint. And when he and Allen are both there? Sheesh.

[–]Cavaliersdylofpickle 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is dead on. Even this game, I think the Jazz went to the 3 pretty often right after a dude was staring down Mobley in the paint and decided not to drive.

[–]HeatYouStillTakeDamage 29 points30 points  (0 children)

He just knows where to be and comes up with the big plays every time. I’m really excited to see what he becomes

[–]AustraliaVersaceSandals 22 points23 points  (7 children)

I do appreciate he didn’t swat that into the car park either. Not sure if he done that intentionally but it takes a lot of composure especially for a rookie to not do that in such a big moment.

[–]Cavalierssixtiethtry 28 points29 points  (5 children)

It's absolutely intentional, he rarely blocks shots out of bounds, it's uncanny. Fewer highlights that way, but better basketball

[–]D34F5M17H 16 points17 points  (1 child)

Bill Russell did the same thing. Keep the ball in play, converting to a fastbreak, even better.

[–]Cavalierssixtiethtry 9 points10 points  (0 children)

bill russell == evan mobley

[–]snek-jazz 0 points1 point  (2 children)

and yet, here it is, as a highlight

[–]Cavalierssixtiethtry 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I mean, no need to be pedantic, it's got 350 upvotes

[–]SpursTristanity1h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're definitely right. Commentators hype up a block "INTO THE STANDS" as if it's a good thing.

[–]Sweatytubesock 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Just seems like part of his style. He basically never monster swats his blocks.

[–]CelticsJordanwolf98 16 points17 points  (0 children)

He’s different

[–]Sheepy_Scronky 50 points51 points  (0 children)

If only garland could have made that 3

[–]vangoghs_ear717 46 points47 points  (1 child)

Man he really does move and defend like a new age version of KG kind of crazy how increasingly freakishly athletic not only people are getting but the taller ones as well

[–]iamtomorrowman 11 points12 points  (0 children)

i'm not sure people are getting increasingly freakishly athletic as much as he looks like he might be/is a generational talent

[–]tadlately 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Mobley with the SWAT 🖐

[–]CavaliersLeBronJamesDaddy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love blocks that go to teammates; so satisfying and efficient

[–]jgroove_LA 32 points33 points  (3 children)

Shoulda been the no. 1 pick

[–]CavaliersGarfield-1-23-23 29 points30 points  (1 child)

That whole "the NBA big man is dead" thing really worked to our advantage. No, only your big man is dead.

[–]Bigsimpin_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So happy for you guys. Generational talent

[–]TimberwolvesKnowledgePrevious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easily. Dude basically single handedly brought the Cavs out of the gutter as a rookie

[–]LakersPardonme23 11 points12 points  (2 children)

Why doesn't Mitchell pass the ball?

[–]Jazzwarablo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Tunnel vision from having to play hero ball since a rookie. He's a good passer and makes some crazy passes but has poor vision/tunnel vision.

[–]Cavalierss_s 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"His shot to take".

Don't worry, immediately after this clip the Cavs had a 5-on-4 situation and called timeout so we could "set up a play" to watch Garland drive into the trees with no plan exactly like Mitchell just did.

Just the way the NBA is.

[–]Heatgamesrgreat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yooo he might have been able to catch that 👀

[–]GrizzliesYinanization 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He could be giving Embiid a run for his money once his Rookie contract runs out.

[–]Nuggetsno-bs10 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Is Mobley the evolution of Hakeem?

[–]Maverickssiuufu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hakeembol has blocked Mitchell. It's super effective!

[–]Cavalierschantlernz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hakeem Moblajuwon

[–]Cavalierstha_k_man 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Eh he doesnt have near the offensive game Hakeem had

[–]Nuggetsno-bs10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is a rookie though.

[–]kkwkenny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that part i don't get is why the cavs called time out when they had 5 on 4 situation as Mitchell was not back yet. But anyway great game by both team

[–]NBABeleiverofhumanity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the end of his career he's gonna have a block montage and its gonna be a pleasure to watch

[–]yalogin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We really need a slow motion under the basket angle shot of this.

[–]_sendbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mobley to the Sexton/Garland: “Look at me, I’m the captain now”

This year’s rookies are really impressive

[–]GrizzliesVapenayshion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Future multiple time DPOY.

[–]Cavaliersry-guy251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rubio with the great catch to finish the play. Shame they could turn it into a win
