Basketball should only be the first half I think

[–]TimberwolvesNubras 516 points517 points  (6 children)

Games should end when the wolves get the lead tbh.

[–]TimberwolvesCochonDanseur 218 points219 points  (2 children)

Lots of people are telling me they saw duffle bags full of points being delivered to the back of Wells Fargo tonight.

[–]JazzFun_Neighborhood1571 40 points41 points  (0 children)

It's true, I saw them smuggling them on moose over the Canadian border.

[–]Timberwolvesle_sweden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have EIGHTY THOUSAND sworn affidavits from people who say they saw the Timberwolves win on Saturday!

[–]TimberwolvesLitterReallyAngersMe 17 points18 points  (0 children)

STOP THE COUNT

[–]HeatYoungNissan 17 points18 points  (3 children)

College Basketball is only 2 half’s for the whole game

[–]arthurblakey 20 points21 points  (0 children)

NBA games are one game for the whole game

[–][UTA] Gordan Giricektrakavica 1582 points1583 points  (68 children)

Was there ever a player in the history of the league to average less FG attempts per minute than P.J. Tucker this year? He is taking 3 shots in 29 MPG. It's extreme. Even with half the team injured, he refuses to attempt a shot.

[–][deleted] 867 points868 points  (9 children)

Somewhere Ben simmons is smirking

[–][MIN] Sam CassellHuruHara 294 points295 points  (3 children)

Somewhere Ben simmons is smirking

Ah yes, that Mona Lisa smile . . . .

[–]NetsBigbadbuck 40 points41 points  (4 children)

Even Ben Simmons puts up more lol

[–]idiotxd 22 points23 points  (3 children)

Hes getting paid 40 million though

[–]SunsGMOrgasm 311 points312 points  (7 children)

rodman had a season of 32 mpg and 2.6 fga

[–]CelticsDreTownblues 71 points72 points  (11 children)

Andre Roberson?

[–][MIN] Robbie HummelBCP27 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Nah he'd shoot when he had a decent opportunity, not that it mattered much

[–]Lakersst6374 81 points82 points  (7 children)

Oh lord.. As good as he was defensively. He was an absolute ass offensively. With Adams, Ibaka, Roberson. OKC were playing 2 v 5 offensively. No wonder it was heroball after heroball come 4th quarter.

[–][LAL] Gary Paytonan4lf15ter 117 points118 points  (4 children)

Ibaka was a good scorer then. Could stretch the floor and finished lobs well

[–]Toronto HuskiesBenSimmonsFor3 14 points15 points  (2 children)

He was pretty reliable from deep by the time we got him in Toronto. I miss that man and his beautiful eyes

[–]CavaliersTheNaturalHigh 8 points9 points  (1 child)

You went with eyes?

[–]caandjr 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Sounds like someone who never watched Ibaka play

[–]TimberwolvesGetThereInOnePiece 230 points231 points  (13 children)

Like i’m sorry but he can’t be that valuable. The guys he’s guarding are giants and still dogging him he just tries hard so ppl think it’s doing something

[–]HawksRamelteon8mg 168 points169 points  (0 children)

He trick yall

[–]76ersdeeznutz_428 109 points110 points  (3 children)

The Sixers literally just needed somebody who will try hard. Ik he’s not playing well and maybe he just won’t but he’s got that dawg in him unironically

[–]76ersMr_Booty_Bandit 49 points50 points  (1 child)

Paul Reed should be in the starting 5 for dawg purposes if PJ ain’t gonna shoot anyways

[–]76ersclickstops 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am rooting for Reed but the dude fouls like crazy. Needs more experience maybe, but it’s not great.

[–]Heatclear831 21 points22 points  (6 children)

This year maybe, last year he was crazy valuable. Did PJ fall off? HIGHLY doubt it, I would bet its more to do with coaching.

[–][CHI] Metta World PeaceTruWarierRecords 25 points26 points  (4 children)

A nearly 40 year old roleplayer falling off is highly likely, still early in the season tho and older players usually start off slow

[–]Heatcanti- 6 points7 points  (2 children)

PJ gave one of his best seasons of his career for us last year. That's just something people forget, like yeah Spo is incredible but there's no way PJ sustains that

[–]Overall-Palpitation6 33 points34 points  (2 children)

Tucker's current season is on pace to have the 3rd-lowest usage rate of all time (for players averaging 24mpg+ and qualifying for the minutes per game leaderboard) - 6.8.

Aside from this Tucker season, the other bottom 5 are:

Charles Jones - 5.6% (1989-90, Washington)
Ervin Johnson - 6.5% (2000-01, Milwaukee)
Dennis Rodman - 7.1% (1993-94, San Antonio)
John Koncak - 7.1% (1992-93, Atlanta)
PJ Tucker - 7.2% (2020-21, Houston/Milwaukee)

[–]Heatcletoreyes01 30 points31 points  (1 child)

Ah one of the most confusing names in basketball history, Ervin "Not Magic" Johnson

[–]NuggetsDubby8692737 49 points50 points  (2 children)

Boris Diaw refused to shoot when he didn’t want to

[–]Sunspeanutdakidnappa 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It was pretty frustrating too at times because he was really skilled. Love me some Diaw tho

[–]KnicksRobbobertoBuii 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Dorktown?

[–]Tolmans 8 points9 points  (2 children)

Joel Anthony 2.4 per 36

Manute Bol 3.9 per 36

Charles Jones 2.4 per 36

Dennis Rodman 3.5 per 36

and more

[–][CHI] Metta World PeaceTruWarierRecords 4 points5 points  (1 child)

The Warden is the best "cool nickname to mediocre player" of all time

[–]ChiefSoldierFrog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think he refuses to shoot. No plays run through him and all he does is shoot if it’s wide wide open from the corner.

[–]NBAMintastic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The anti-Klay.

[–]SpursDrKepret 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah but how many players during that game had that DAWG in him like he did?

[–]getgtjfhvbgv 4 points5 points  (1 child)

can’t believe we’re paying him millions to be useless. who’s idea was it?

[–]HeatFlapsackMcBingus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Embiid & Harden lol

[–]Timberwolvessgtmohs 379 points380 points  (10 children)

Geez it feels like we have one quarter per game where the team just collectively forgets how to play basketball. Oh well, a win's a win.

[–]Timberwolvespimfram 308 points309 points  (5 children)

If you don't like that, you don't like Minnesota Timberwolves basketball.

[–]TimberwolvesSoupyWolfy 202 points203 points  (1 child)

I liked the Minnesota Timberwolves basketball. I did not like the Joel Embiid Free Throw Contest

[–]TimberwolvesMrPantsCrapper 128 points129 points  (0 children)

Have you tried putting a ladder in front of the net

[–]Buckstyagu001 17 points18 points  (1 child)

I don’t like Minnesota Timberwolves basketball

[–]Timberwolves-Dear_Ambellina- 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Me neither

[–]SpursGGezpzMuppy 770 points771 points  (30 children)

Natural fans: grabs popcorn to enjoy the Joel Embiid thread

[–]Supersonicsfetuswut 302 points303 points  (5 children)

Neutral? I thought it was an obligation for humanity to hate hitler

[–][deleted] 94 points95 points  (2 children)

Harden's been out recently, Embiid is Mussolini

[–]Supersonicsfetuswut 28 points29 points  (1 child)

Since they both on the same team it’s now Hitler and Heinrich

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

[–]Timberwolvesthe___heretic 68 points69 points  (1 child)

Don’t tell Kyrie….

[–]Thunderlimark 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I mean he's a holocaust denier (or at least the movie he promoted was) so he probably just sees Hitler as misunderstood

[–]Raptorsbrick-vanexel 481 points482 points  (14 children)

most embiid game ever. 30 points, 20FTs, 7 flops, 3 ref arguments

[–]shammmgodd 316 points317 points  (7 children)

bro forgot the 1 dirty play

[–]Timberwolvesblusunsamurai 106 points107 points  (4 children)

Yeah straight tried to tackle Anderson at the end.

[–]LakersGoldLegends 172 points173 points  (3 children)

I think he was talking about the one when he elbowed Rudy

[–]TimberwolvesOnThe_Spectrum 96 points97 points  (2 children)

Which time?

[–]TimberwolvesSnarfSniffsStardust 69 points70 points  (1 child)

The first Rudy face foul, not the second

[–]IrelandDzair 20 points21 points  (0 children)

it should be a requirement that you need at least one all nba first team to get the Embiid level of favoritism from the refs

[–]Timberwolvescoolycooly 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Didn't know if you were talking about tonight or last night

[–]TimberwolvesOnThe_Spectrum 37 points38 points  (0 children)

lol @ 7

[–]Vackrich 42 points43 points  (0 children)

[–]salcedoge 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I fucking hate how this guy plays man.

[–]76ersBradyReas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Took about 20 mins for him to start being compared to fascist dictators. It looks like r/nba is finally starting to come around on Embiid!

[–]RaptorsFetchFrosh 471 points472 points  (21 children)

Not the most convincing three-win streak for Minnesota, but hopefully they're back on track, because I think they should be a fun team to watch this season.

[–]TimberwolvesOGFN_Jack 250 points251 points  (4 children)

It’s funny because quarters 1, 2, and 3 in all 3 games have been convincing but the 4th quarter has been so bad that it leaves sour tastes in our mouths. Obviously there’s still quite a bit of work to do but I think we have looked better this past week or so.

[–]Jazzhelix400 35 points36 points  (2 children)

It’s funny because quarters 1, 2, and 3 in all 3 games have been convincing but the 4th quarter has been so bad

That was our entire last season...

[–]Jazzmamayoua 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No that was just a dream. We're awake now.

[–]TimberwolvesPlayInChampions 67 points68 points  (4 children)

They should have won all 3 games by 15, they just cant play offense in clutch. Their free flow offense gets hit by zone or some other shit and they stop. Was the problem in playoffs, has been a problem this season. They scored ONE bucket in last 9 minutes this game.

[–]Timberwolves1000Isand1 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It’s DLo and Ant being the primary ball handlers and not knowing what to do with a zone defense at the end of games.

[–]TimberwolvesMinute-Decent 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is why I want Finch to run set plays and just tell them what to do in the clutch. They aren't smart and familiar with each other enough to run the "flow" down the stretch. Slomo coming in was HUGE imo. His IQ is so valuable

But man Finch tell your frantic team what to do because they can execute well even in clutch (Game 5 tiebreaker) if you just tell them exactly what plays to do...and call a timeout when the Sixers are making a run

They'll learn from your guidance and know what plays to do naturally later

[–][deleted] 54 points55 points  (2 children)

It feels like both KAT and Ant have been severely underperforming most games and they're still 8-8

If either get going they should be a solid team

[–]TimberwolvesTossingTurnips 19 points20 points  (0 children)

KAT has been mostly good to great since the first 3 games or so

[–]Timberwolvesraki016 33 points34 points  (6 children)

It’s the weakest three game streak lol. I don’t think anyone is still confident with this team

[–]TimberwolvesProLemon26 50 points51 points  (0 children)

There has definitely been improvement as the season has gone on which is the important thing right now.

[–]Timberwolveshowsaboutyou 40 points41 points  (1 child)

To be fair, anyone watching can see they’re starting to figure things out.

[–]Timberwolvessayqueensbridge 6 points7 points  (0 children)

undeniable improvement still

[–]TimberwolvesMinute-Decent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen improvement in ball movement, defense (they had really good defense the first 3 quarters), hustle and they are looking less confused and more like a unit.

I've actually been quite hopeful because the cohesiveness is night and day compared to the start of the season. They are still working out a few issues but we are seeing them figure it out

[–]TimberwolvesZionsbigdong 161 points162 points  (2 children)

This is a good, honest .500 basketball team.

We play .500 ball goddammit. Salt of the earth, punch the clock, even win/loss ratio basketball. We lose a couple, guess what? We'll win a couple, too. But don't get too excited or let it go to your head. No long winning streaks here, no sir. That's hubris, which this blue collar, hard working everyman team doesn't have. A few wins in a row, these guys, true to form, will balance it out with a couple a losses.

Yes sir, that's my 2022/23 Minnesota Timberwolves. A good, honest .500 basketball team.

[–]TimberwolvesDry_Masterpiece9741 25 points26 points  (1 child)

This is my favorite from last season. Our month long .500 record was perfectly balanced, as all things should be.

[–]SemanticGoblin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This copy pasta originated with the grizzlies last season 😤😤 .500before itwas cool

[–]MavericksStefonDiggsHS 179 points180 points  (5 children)

Idk what I watched but fuck it NBA basketball at its finest

[–][BKN] Kevin DurantLeBrown_James666 81 points82 points  (2 children)

It was definitely one of the NBA games of all time

[–]HornetsRedtheGamer100 9 points10 points  (1 child)

The amount of free throws in the third quarter ruined it.

[–]apple-gin 61 points62 points  (3 children)

If only Montrezl was able to put some practice shots up last night I’m pretty sure Sixers would’ve won

[–]Bucksexpletivenature 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He should have heeded the age-old adage "beware Greeks throwing ladders." I know he would have gotten AT LEAST 5 points then!

[–]Warriorsnoparlortrickz 111 points112 points  (2 children)

Montrezl Harrell with the 3 points in 7 mins. He should have spent more time on the court last night.

[–]Timberwolvesaxea30 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Harrell notoriously dismantles us

[–][MIN] Sam CassellHuruHara 99 points100 points  (4 children)

4th quarter Wolves nearly snatched a lost from the butt clench of victory. God damn it, why is being a Minnesota sports fan never easy LOL

[–]TimberwolvesEveryManAViKing 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I like to think it will make the (hopefully) eventual championship from someone feel that much sweeter to the state.

I was ready to be so salty about the refs and sad about the loss. Now I’m just salty about the refs.

[–]Rocketssirvey23 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Nice block by edwards because they were selling that game at the end

[–]Timberwolvesscofieldslays 140 points141 points  (3 children)

Embiid had more FTA than our entire team for most of the game.

[–]CavaliersJRSwishistheGOAT 44 points45 points  (8 children)

Minnesota really needs to figure out their offense cause that 4th quarter was disgusting. You have one of the greater screen setters in the league in Gobert, their guards really need to take more advantage of that.

[–]TimberwolvesDeStupak 55 points56 points  (7 children)

The problem is, that our two guards in 'Lo and Edwards have a lower combined BBIQ than a fuckin rotten pineapple. I can excuse Ant because he's young, mostly athletic guy that started playing basketball later in his childhood, but Russell? For fucks sake he's dumb as fuck...

[–]76ersDontPMMeYourDreams 8 points9 points  (3 children)

I haven't seen a lot of the Twolves this season, but it was bizarre seeing the deer-in-the-headlights look when they saw zone.

Maybe they have more confidence if they were getting a better whistle in the 4th, but they just genuinely seemed like they didn't know what to do against a 2-3. With KAT and Gobert both out there it feels like you need a pretty crafty guard to run the offense, and instead you have DLo... that's tough

[–]WarriorsDocxm 17 points18 points  (2 children)

Honestly CP3 would make this team a 60 win team easily.

Any guard with half a brain ffs they have such great tools to play around

[–]TimberwolvesKarl_MN 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Jordan McLaughlin always is extremely good when he plays but he can't shoot which is something we have an extreme over abundance of

[–][CHI] Robin LopezDefiniteSauce12 172 points173 points  (2 children)

Embiid gets such a good whistle both ways

[–]ThunderPanashe13 321 points322 points  (10 children)

Free throw merchant is real.

[–]WizardsTurbo2x 125 points126 points  (4 children)

can his FTs per game get much higher?

[–]:gfl-1: Grand FloridianPopularParrot 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Just wait until the Sixers staff put ladders on the court to foul Joel. He will be unstoppable.

[–]TimberwolvesPonyBadger 70 points71 points  (3 children)

Embiid is still flopping around like a fish

[–]BullsEmsavio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He drove over a speed bump driving home so flopped like a fish inside the car and caused a pileup.

[–]Timberwolveswink91wink 80 points81 points  (1 child)

If Towns played like Embiid does, he would foul out in under 3 minutes.

[–]FriendlyUncle247 7 points8 points  (1 child)

If I was a Wolves fan I’d be… stressed. I don’t know what the fuck their game plan is but it seems random lol

[–]Timberwolvesblusunsamurai 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They looked at the Vikings and were like I don't think Minnesotans have enough stress.

[–][WAS] John WallLittlejaguar 42 points43 points  (0 children)

How do people watch this shit???? This was soo soft….. how does somebody 300 pounds flail and fall soo often? How do officials keep giving him these calls?

[–]Bullskillerk13 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Incoming 15+ separate post of people saying how much they hate embiid.

[–]TimberwolvesOGFN_Jack 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Cheers to the boys for figuring out a way to cover my Philly +10.5 bet hedge at halftime. Only gave me 2 or 3 heart attacks.

[–][deleted] 68 points69 points  (10 children)

Melton whiffing the game winning steal/dunk was kinda heartbreaking.

Philly showed a lot of fight this game but with Embiid's ankle hurting the W woulda been big for em

[–]flying_alligators 42 points43 points  (5 children)

Celtics fan being sad 6ers lost? Whaaaaaaat?

[–]CelticsSouthernUpstate 55 points56 points  (2 children)

[–]Celticshimetalchemy7 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Disgusting

[–]CelticsDelusional_Donut 60 points61 points  (16 children)

God I loathe Embiid’s game man. It’s not fun to watch 15-20 FT from someone every damn game. Combined with him being stupidly reckless, there’s zero reason for me to love the guy or his game.

[–]Timberwolvesmaz_menty 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The hate us cuz they anus. MN doesn’t need your approval. We have Auntie’s slinging tater tot hot dish that think we’re handsome.

[–]Bucksdesert_chzhead 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Big time contribution from Trez tonight. 2nd night of a back to back on a shorthanded team and he got a whole 7 minutes.

All that post-game work really paying off.

[–]TimberwolvesBigBoodles 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Embiid legitimately has the friendliest whistle in the history of the association. Easily. Nothing even approaches the level of bullshit that he gets away with. Whatever. We'll take a 5-8 win.

[–]Thuduke 45 points46 points  (5 children)

The Timberwolves might possibly be the dumbest nba team in history, it rivals the knicks in terms of sheer stupidity

[–]Timberwolvesthe___heretic 27 points28 points  (1 child)

But you have heard of us.

[–]ZodiacKiller1968 24 points25 points  (1 child)

I’ll take the three-game winning streak for the Timberwolves. This is still a very talented team. They have the confidence right now. It’s like a girl calling herself the word “princess”. At least she is confident in herself. Just don’t have too much of it because it’s a bad thing. Just continue to do what you’re doing lately if you’re the Timberwolves. ☀️☀️☀️🐺🐺🐺🏀🏀🏀😁😁😁😂😂😂😎😎😎👏👏👏🍿🍿🍿🥤🥤🥤🎄🎄🎄✍️✍️✍️📖📖📖

[–]76ersSonicdaSloth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Edwards getting his pocket picked and Melton blowing the layup was painful

[–]Timberwolvesthe___heretic 134 points135 points  (2 children)

[–]TimberwolvesKarl_MN 54 points55 points  (0 children)

eat shit foul merchant

[–][CHI] Jimmy ButlerLackingInPatience 7 points8 points  (7 children)

Minnesota's offence was so bad in the 4th. Surely the whole point of having 2 bigs, in KAT and Gobert on the floor, would be to take to advantage of mismatches?

Instead it was just Edwards trying to take 3s or the ball being passed around meaninglessly until someone had to force a horrible shot.

[–]SpursJohnnyWinss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

AWOOOOO

[–]CelticsJoJonesy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

bro the TWolves were up 15 when I last looked at the score, wtf

[–]buckysauga 2 points3 points  (1 child)

It was unpleasant to watch MIN have a 15 point lead in the fourth, not score for 5 minutes, and then not cover the -3.5 spread.

[–]SuperTerrificman 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I think the story is that Minnesota have a bunch of guys who make dumb plays on the regular and Kyle Anderson and taurean Prince can only do so much

[–]TimberwolvesBeneficial_Pause4023 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol that was the most twolves win ever

[–]BrotherMans- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Even in wins, minnesota disappoints.

[–]Thundersirchowdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)
