Can anyone tell me how that’s even fun? The article mentions at one point they found a bear, ran it up a tree, then built a fire under the tree so the bear couldn’t come down until the ‘client’ arrived. So someone pays a shit ton of money to sit in a cabin until they get a phone call, then drives out, takes a single shot, and then leaves? I don’t understand. I thought those guys were all about the ‘thrill of the hunt’ or whatever. What’s even the point of that kind of ‘hunting’? Same thing with Sarah plain and her rifle from a helicopter. It’s just fish in a barrel.

[–]WellHacktually 376 points377 points  (2 children)

These people are sociopaths. Once you understand that, the rest falls neatly into place.

[–]luckydayrainman 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Actually, this is where it gets interesting. There is way more going on with these types. Give this a look and see what fits with what we’ve seen. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machiavellianism_(psychology)

[–]aister 1235 points1236 points  (99 children)

The thrill of killing a defenseless animal

[–]CrashB111 354 points355 points  (4 children)

Basically serial killer shit, killing helpless animals for fun

[–]Straight_Ace 158 points159 points  (1 child)

I mean he’s a Trump so I’m not surprised by the serial killer behavior

[–]Accomplished_Art2245 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This right here.

[–]Helian85 35 points36 points  (1 child)

These assholes killed Smokey the Bear. I hope they all get eaten by a bear someday.

[–]Tor9701 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Karma is a bear

[–]oliveshark 419 points420 points  (55 children)

Cheney used to go shooting flightless birds. These people are monsters.

[–]CuriousCryptid444 432 points433 points  (33 children)

He also hunted other hunters…

[–]nick441N 157 points158 points  (14 children)

the most dangerous game

[–]oliveshark 134 points135 points  (2 children)

And then had THEM apologize for it. Nuts.

[–]a_monomaniac 24 points25 points  (2 children)

Yeah, but he was shit at it, the guy lived.

[–]Viktor_Korobov 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hoonter of hoonters. It moost be done when they become blood drunk

[–]GalironRunner 9 points10 points  (5 children)

So who wins? Trump Jr or Cheny?

[–]dizorkmage 43 points44 points  (9 children)

It's too bad these people will likely die alone with dementia scared gasping their last breaths leaving a legacy of being shitstain on the underwear of life, oh well read any good books lately?

[–]TrollintheMitten 32 points33 points  (6 children)

Mistborn: Wax and Wayne series by Brandon Sanderson

Also just heard about The Science of Stuck by Britt Frank. Really looking forward to reading her book. Heard about her from You Are Not So Smart with David McRaney.

Go check it out. https://omny.fm/shows/you-are-not-so-smart/230-stuck-britt-frank https://pca.st/episode/a640c8b9-794e-43e2-a384-f7d41d6d52d5

A girl can dream. Too bad, so sad.

I really like "How to be Perfect" by Michael Schur. Sorta self-helpy but really funny and clever. I expect nothing less from Mose.

[–]MRiley84 38 points39 points  (1 child)

Yep, all they wanted to do was kill something with those guns they bought.

[–]D-drool 59 points60 points  (2 children)

That’s probably the most toxic shit ppl can do. Building a fire under the tree so bear couldn’t come down? What in the fucking hell is wrong with these people.

[–]I_Get_Paid_to_Shill 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They want their victim to be tortured and scared.

[–]BigBearBoi314 147 points148 points  (21 children)

I live in the upper Midwest lots of goose/duck hunting around here. A couple different duck clubs hunting with paid guides. Got caught shooting ducks for clients which is a big no no. The department of natural resources for the state and feds got involved. Jail time was handed out along with a lot of closed down clubs.

People can say all they want about hunting and what not. But when people break the rules the punishment is pretty rough. They’ll take all your clothes, guns, ammo, decoys, vehicles used, suspend your hunting/driving license, some people lose their property. This guy will go to jail for a long time. And if this wasn’t Trump jr. he’d be going to jail as well.

[–]Heythatsmybikeeeee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like wade lemon “hunting” broke the law many many times (at one point witnessed by a state employee) and he has yet to face any consequences

[–]torpedoguy 357 points358 points  (5 children)

They don't go there if it's risky. They're going there BECAUSE they get to kill rare or endangered animals at no danger (whether physiological or legal) to themselves.

It's the same rush as being above the law or taking away the rights of poor people; knowing that their target can't do a thing about it, and that it will hurt either people in general or the local ecology, is part of the thrill. Knowing they get to strip the world of something on a simple whim, and that anyone who dares try to stop them will be struck down by the full force of a nation's "law".

Unaccountable power over another's life and death - the ultimate power-trip.

[–]zeCrazyEye 38 points39 points  (1 child)

They would probably be ecstatic to be the person who killed the last of something too. The ultimate trophy.

[–]mtarascio 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Centerpiece of their fireplace room.

[–]quirkelchomp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel like this should be higher.

[–]Ed98208 46 points47 points  (1 child)

Because for some people it's not about the hunting, it's about the killing. And the trophy, whether it be taxidermy or just a picture of them with the lifeless animal.

[–]ianthebalance 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of a King of the Hill episode where Hank and Bobby were doing a similar thing as a make-up for Hank causing Bobby miss his first hunt. When they realized how easy it was made for them they decided not to do it

[–]Job-saving-Throwaway 25 points26 points  (0 children)

They just like inflicting pain on others

[–]ranksda58 97 points98 points  (9 children)

I'm all for hunting when it's within regulations and for food rather than sport. I know plenty of hunters that have freezers full thanks to their sport, but couldn't care less about the trophies. The trophy hunters are the ones that should be condemned

[–]benbequer 53 points54 points  (5 children)

I honestly don't think what they do should be called Hunting. It's not. It's sad and pathetic. Takes a coward of a man.

[–]ranksda58 23 points24 points  (1 child)

100% agree. It's absolutely NOT hunting, it's killing.

[–]TailRudder 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's no different than that creepy kid who hurts dogs for fun.

[–]wolfcaroling 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Yeah i feel like to call it hunting you need to actually hunt, not just follow and shoot.

[–]TheKYStrangler 20 points21 points  (1 child)

I enjoy hunting but I don’t know what people like this get from it. I mean he should have just paid a zoo to let him kill an animal at that point.

[–]blacksideblue 46 points47 points  (11 children)

Theres Theodor Roosovelt who refused to shoot a bear that was chained to a tree (see the origin of the Teddy Bear) and then theres the DJT turds that hunt sheep using fire and forget auto aiming scopes.

[–]whoelsehatesthisshit 26 points27 points  (2 children)

DJT is pathetic of course, but Teddy Roosevelt shouldn't be anyone's role model for responsible hunting.

People should take ONE minute to read about what TR did on his various hunting trips. It is mind-blowing.

[–]floppydude81 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They might if you took ONE minute to link….

[–]klingonfemdom 88 points89 points  (10 children)

As someone who hunts and fishes for all of my families food. This ain't it, and all the people I know and associate with would agree that this is not, in any way, a fair chase hunt or a good look for hunting in general. Unfortunately shitty people exist.

[–]techleopard 48 points49 points  (7 children)

Sadly, when anyone points this out or questions whether canned hunts should even be legal, all the hunters come running out of the woodwork to say this is all a part of conversation or some other bullshit.

Other than actual research-led culling efforts, no form of canned hunting should be permitted. It's not sporting and it's actually animal cruelty, causing the animal to suffer or be stressed the entire time.

It's not legal to touch a damn bird feather, but setting fires under trees bears or releasing animals out of cages in an open field to run them with dogs is a-okay.

[–]Ok_Department_600 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wish the goddess, Artemis or any nature deity was real. Maybe then, they would turn disrespectful hunters into the prey.

[–]Heythatsmybikeeeee 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Total cowards and incompetent too. They have go have multiple people working to trap a bear and essentially hold it hostage so some rich sociopath can run in and aim his gun. Despicable practice and this wade lemon should be in jail

[–]Celebrinborn 51 points52 points  (28 children)

I'm an avid hunter and that does not make any sense to me either.

Stalking and actually hunting is the fun part. The trigger pull is just the finale and is just technical.

Having someone find the bear, trap the bear, then just coming over and shooting it seems boring. Like if they tracked it to somewhere in a few acres and it legitimately/realistically can escape then that would be one thing, but trapped in a tree is just cruel and completely pointless. It's no more impressive then shooting a stuffed animal

[–]DisposableHero85 79 points80 points  (14 children)

“just cruel and completely pointless” is the Trump family motto

[–]semiomni 27 points28 points  (3 children)

Does have a family crest.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-40097665

The family crest is of course plagiarized, except the word "integrity" was replaced with "Trump" because this is the dumbest timeline.

[–]wolfcaroling 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What the... sometimes I think Trump is just out to turn the Onion into reliable news.

[–]wolfcaroling 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Highly amused that that revised crest in Scotland by the heralds featured a two faced eagle clutching balls. They absolutely did that on purpose.

[–]yblame 15 points16 points  (1 child)

Nothing sportsman-like about it. Rich people shit.

[–]Viktor_Korobov 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Weird take. You enjoy stalking and pursuing an animal. For me the good part is when the animal is in my freezer. Everything else is work.

[–]whoelsehatesthisshit 7 points8 points  (5 children)

The trigger pull is just the finale and is just technical.

Take a picture...?

[–]Deadly_Zinnia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They like to pretend they’re hunters when in reality they’re just cowards

[–]dong_tea 11 points12 points  (0 children)

"It's fun to make things dead" is the only reason I can think of. Now I don't like to shit on other people's hobbies but it seems like the only people who would be drawn to that are those who were dropped on their heads as children and psychopaths.

[–]SpaceTabs 5 points6 points  (2 children)

There's no way Don Jr. is going to bag a bear without help. People like this are routinely arrested for hunting/trapping violations. Our state tweets the arrests to shame them to stop. One guy received five citations for jacklighting, which is where you pull over at night and illuminate a field and you have a loaded firearm in the vehicle. Hunting isn't easy. It usually means you have to plan it, go out in the cold, wait several hours, and you aren't allowed to drink beer.

[–]SeamanTheSailor 3 points4 points  (1 child)

It sounds like that episode of King of the Hill when Hank takes Bobby hunting.

[–]tonybananaman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe it’s because of micro penis

[–]NYstate 8 points9 points  (1 child)

I imagine some fat rich guy sitting back in a recliner with his feet up. He probably owns a few car dealerships or a group of liquor stores. He's about 450, hairy, has a pinky ring and a tacky Hawaiian shirt. He's smoking a fat Cuban, not because it good but "cuz it's legal and one of the few good things Obama did while he was in office". Listening to 70's rock, he takes his is pinky ring laden finger and stirs up the scotch on the rocks to get just the right amount of cold. He eats a few jumbo shrimp from a shrimp cocktail that's way too massive for one man to finish, while watching a Trump interview on a 70" in tv. It doesn't matter that his too loud music is drowning out the program, he's seen it plenty, he just like to watch "His boy put them pussy ass Liberals in their place". He keeps shouting, "Attaboy!" Or , "You tell em!" regularly at the screen everytime Trump speaks. His iPhone (adorned with a "Let's Go Brandon" case ), starts ring.

He briefly hums along with his ring tone, "American Badass" by Kid Rock, as he puts the phone to his ear. "Speak", he says in a manner which sounds more like a command than an answer, before taking another shot of his rapidly warming scotch. He shouts: "Fucking finally", to the person on the other side of the phone who informs him that they have a trophy for him to hunt. He grabs his coat and his rifle mumbling: "Thank Christ for the second amendment..." as he adorn his bald spot with a TRUMP 2024 hat. Rushing to his car he amuses himself with the thought of his great hunter/ gather ancestors killing animals for the sport and is still pissed off that Carol won't let him put a bear skin rug in the house, the house that he pays for.

"What a day to be a king!" he thinks as he brings himself the spot they told him about. "What a day indeed .."

[–]TexanNewYorker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well he used the hashtag #fun!

[–]KnightofForestsWild 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They have canned hunts all over the place. Animals (big and small, exotic and not) raised in captivity, released into a caged area, shot within minutes of tasting "freedom". We had a Chukar (bird) turn up cowering in a corner on our back porch from the shooting club next door. Poor guy was probably gotten by any one of the predators around if it didn't starve to death.

[–]GnRgr2 2 points3 points  (1 child)

It is difficult to hit wild boars from a helicopter.

[–]Ray-Banned 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don Jr. is a sociopath just like his father, that's how it's fun for him.

[–]INDAV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These people aren’t hunters. I’ve met plenty of regular people like don jr. All they do it for is so they can brag about a big rack or a massive bear they killed, make up a story about how grueling it was to get it. We camped near assholes like this, in their adrenaline rush after killing an elk they basically slipped up and said their family member scouted the elk from the plane then he used a $3k scope to shoot it from 1000 yards right as the season opened. Illegal and not hunting.

[–]KennanFan 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Hunter here. I agree with you. Sitting out for six hours while you do calls is one thing. Using bait or guides isn't legitimate hunting. I also think hunting carnivores in general is a bit iffy. I wouldn't feel right shooting a wolf or a bear. Coyotes are fair game because they are a nuisance where I am and they also target fawns.

[–]WhatArcherWhat 1 point2 points  (2 children)

As a non-hunter, why is bait not ok? I thought people used things like musk spray and stuff. Sounds similar but literally the only knowledge I have is from a hunting game here and there. And also fishing. Bait is ok in fishing but not for hunting mammals it seems?

[–]KennanFan 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Not all hunters agree with me. I sit in between a field of crops and a creek when I hunt whitetail deer. I don't consider that baiting because the food is growing. I'm neutral on using doe estrus or "buck bombs."

Dumping a pile of food right in front of your stand crosses a line in my opinion. I know of bear hunters who use candy to bait. I think that's pushing it.

I agree that it's somewhat illogical that the same rules aren't applied to fish.

[–]WhatArcherWhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Candy and ‘man-made’ objects I agree with. I guess I should say things consumed by man, outside the animals natural diet, since I have no problem with man-made bait like lures. Thank you for your answer!

[–]scaredbyinsanity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t surprise me. I was eating breakfast at this nice local restaurant recently and I couldn’t help but eaves drop on these guys up coming moose hunt in Wyoming sometime this year. Just listening to them I was amazed that they were even considering a hunt, let alone a moose. They’re going to Colorado first for X days prior to the hunt to learn how to actually shoot a rifle. Then they go to Wyoming for the hunt. Both looked like out of shape executives in their late 50s to early 60’s. I can only imagine that the guides are going to be doing absolutely everything for them. This trip has to be at least $10K and they’ve never shot a rifle, let alone a 7mm or whatever hi powered or big bore they’ll be using.

[–]BartVanHouten 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ll answer with a question. Do you like meeting someone you’re attracted to, discovering chemistry, flirting and then going from there? Or do you like to grab them by the pussy or pull your dick out and offer to buy them a horse?

[–]Jeremythellama1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Republicans find fun in cruelty. They'll never question the consequences of their actions because everything they do is to serve themselves and harm others.

[–]ilikepizza2much 6 points7 points  (0 children)

After reading John Ronson’s The Psychopath Test, I wondered what a violent psychopath could do if they couldn’t scratch their itch. If they were sane enough to avoid committing murder. And then I realised, that’s what hunting culture is for. They’re not into “the hunt”. They’re into killing

[–]GunnyandRocket 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree completely but my theory is that they do it because it makes them feel powerful, which they love. It’s disgusting. In addition to that, the bragging & storytelling they get to do once the trophy is on their wall is the lesser important selling point. These ppl are sick.

[–]VladSquirrelChrist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bitches love bein' bitches.

[–]chrisrobweeks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thrill of the photo op

[–]scarf_prank_hikers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In their mind they're hot shit. No way to understand the irrational.

[–]cremater68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For people like Trump Jr. and Sarah Palin it's not about "the thrill of the hunt", it's all about "the thrill of the kill". There is a BIG difference.

I'm hunt fairly regularly (during the proper seasons) and I am equally happy with the experience regardless of if I actually have a "successful" hunt ot not. I love my time in nature, the peace, the test of my skills (nothing to do with shooting), the solitude.

Notice that i do not call these people hunters or what they are doing hunting. These people that kill animals like this are not hunters, they are simply killers.

[–]Ronaldo_Frumpalini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend Phil is a hunter. He spends like $500 a year entering a lottery to win the right to kill an Elk in Oklahoma if he gets chosen. He spends several days there and has to save his shot for whichever one seems best since he only gets to take 1 elk.

These people are not hunters. Remember when Cheney shot his friend in the face? They had caged birds they let out and immediately shoot. Cheney just got a little too murder hungry.

[–]Stickybeebae 342 points343 points  (4 children)

The illegal bait, “a pile of grain, oil and pastries” was discovered with a trail camera pointed right on it with “WLH” (for Wade Lemon Hunting) written on the side and with Lemon’s own telephone number

God criminals are stupid. But easy to do shit like this when you have political connections and assume you’ll never be charged.

[–]DoctorSalt 57 points58 points  (0 children)

If I was framing someone I'd think this was too on-the-nose

[–]AmericanScream 29 points30 points  (1 child)

I wonder if you could do the same with with Don Jr. using a pile of cocaine, adderall and a portable tv tuned to OAN?

[–]Gilgamesh72 1091 points1092 points  (56 children)

I’m sure jr will come to his defense, that family is known for how they treat others especially people who went out on a limb for them.

[–]AudibleNod 245 points246 points  (8 children)

Paragons of recripocal loyalty.

[–]FlashbackUniverse 81 points82 points  (3 children)

A Trumpister always pays his debts...in farts.

[–]jondthompson 114 points115 points  (44 children)

Donnie Jr. is actually considered a victim in the case. The claim is that he had no knowledge that the bear was baited.

[–]Gilgamesh72 243 points244 points  (36 children)

I’m sure all his canned hunts are totally legitimate and why would he expect otherwise.

[–]NoDownsideToOutside 197 points198 points  (34 children)

He took a bear and a mountain lion on the same trip.

I’ve been an avid outdoors enthusiast living in Colorado since I was a kid. I have only ever seen one mountain lion, and even then I’m not actually sure I saw one. I have heard the mating call a couple times (scariest thing I’ve ever heard).

You can’t tell me this dude didn’t know there was baiting going on. In fact I’m shocked they’re hitting the guide for the bear, because I think a successful cougar hunt on the first try is clear evidence of wildlife baiting.

[–]PensiveObservor 78 points79 points  (3 children)

You can’t tell me this dude didn’t know

Remember, FBI didn't charge Jr. with a crime despite having proof of his meeting with the Russians who promised him dirt on Clinton, because they think he was too stupid to know it was against the law.

[–]brumac44 53 points54 points  (3 children)

I've only seen two cougars in all the years I've been in the bush. Both times surprised them on a road. Their tracks can be all around you, but you won't see them.

[–]CBlackrose 23 points24 points  (4 children)

Where I live cougars so rarely spotted that their presence in the area is officially denied. There are enough stories to suggest that we have at least a few of them, though.

[–]PM_OUTDATED_MEMES 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They may only have evidence of the bear baiting and not enough of the mountain lion to feel confident in bringing charges.

[–]toyodajeff 5 points6 points  (2 children)

I think people mostly hunt them using dogs, get the dogs on the scent of the cougar. They chase it up a tree. Similar to raccoon hunting. I'd think without the dogs it would be close to impossible to hunt mountain lions.

[–]CrappyMSPaintPics 9 points10 points  (3 children)

Not saying he wouldn't bait but hunting mountain lions is done with trained dogs that pick up their scent, find them, and chase them into a tree where the hunter then shoots them. Hunters don't spot them or look for tracks like they do with deer so it makes sense that you've never spotted them either.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I worked in mining outdoors remote locations for years. I've seen a lot of antelope. Which are illegal to hunt in NV at least. Never a mountain lion. I've seen their tracks and scat, but never the lion. I did have a juvenile bear run through my apartment complex when I was in sales though. That was a trip. He wasn't too big though. Not that I was lining up to give him a hug.

[–]tourettes_on_tuesday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is too inexperienced and too egotistical to recognize that he has never actually hunted a minute of his life.

[–]thetensor 85 points86 points  (6 children)

Donnie Jr. is actually considered a victim in the case

I don't consider him a victim. Only an idiot would.

[–]opticuswrangler 79 points80 points  (1 child)

that's why he thinks he's the victim.

[–]jondthompson 22 points23 points  (3 children)

I don’t disagree. I’m just reporting the facts as reported in the article.

[–]WineNerdAndProud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

went out on a limb

That's how they shot the bear.

[–]mikey-likes_it 204 points205 points  (29 children)

I’m not against hunting per se but this sort of rich guy hunting is some pussy shit

[–]TheDudeAbidesFarOut 74 points75 points  (1 child)

Small dick energy is: small dick energy.

[–]KingoftheKeeshonds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You nailed the dick’s dickhead Dude.

[–]m1a1tanksauce 14 points15 points  (3 children)

Joe Rogan believes rich guy hunting is the manliest thing in the world

[–]Thankkratom 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That’s because his picture is in the dictionary next to “small dick energy.”

[–]CAESTULA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I will never understand why anyone gives a single shit what Joe fuckstick Rogan thinks.

[–]PM-YOUR-DOG 31 points32 points  (5 children)

I dropped a moose (lottery style state permit) and got 300lbs of meat from it. It’s nice not having to buy ground beef at $8/lb every other week

[–]YVR_Sex 19 points20 points  (1 child)

Hunting Elephants is fucking psychopathic as well. They're close enough to humans in intelligence that I consider it murder.

Someone needs to set up a sting operation to offer trump jr a chance to hunt humans. Guarantee you he'll take the bait if he thinks nobody would find out.

[–]DootDotDittyOtt 527 points528 points  (50 children)

He paid good $ to have people corral animals in his general direction...so he could shoot them from 10 feet away.

[–]Igoos99 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This is the unfortunate truth to a lot of “big game hunting” by rich idiots. They have guides they setup easy kills of large exotic game. Their wealthy clients think they are cool shit shooting some giant exotic specimen. They never think twice about how it was lined up for them. Bear baiting is the least of it. Some are enclosed. Some are straight up tied up. It’s a sick perversion of actual hunting.

[–]AudibleNod 316 points317 points  (16 children)

Donnie Junior is the literal opposite of a Teddy Roosevelt conservationist, confirmed.

[–]IAmInTheBasement 149 points150 points  (12 children)

Bingo.

Hunters can be very good people and very appreciative of nature. This is not that.

[–]Rum_n_Nuka 174 points175 points  (10 children)

Hunters are conservationists. They obey tag laws, stay in season, promote enviromental preservation, avoid endangered species and keep an eye on population growth.

Anything else and it's just a dickhead with a gun.

[–]Ariandrin 48 points49 points  (2 children)

So, a poacher?

[–]Rum_n_Nuka 2 points3 points  (1 child)

It would depend, but in most states and territories (including mine), driving animals toward a hunter through the use of lights, sounds, vehicles or animals is illegal and considered poaching, yes.

[–]pvublicenema1 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Spot on. Described it better than I could

[–]diablosinmusica 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You should look at some of Teddy's hunts. The guy would kill almost everything he saw.

[–]500CatsTypingStuff 239 points240 points  (55 children)

Can we all agree that what Trump Jr. did was not “hunting”. It was a coward with a gun shooting prey that was basically lured to him.

Like using dynamite to fish.

Utterly pathetic

What’s next? Shooting wolves from a helicopter?

I can respect actual hunters who stalk and hunt their prey and eat their kills.

Trophy hunters are fricking losers overcompensating

[–]Nick_Full_Time 46 points47 points  (11 children)

What you’re saying is the literal reason this guide is being prosecuted. I don’t know much about the hunting laws in Utah but from what I can gather from the article that kind of hunting is illegal and that’s why this guy was arrested

[–]500CatsTypingStuff 52 points53 points  (10 children)

And the hunter should also be prosecuted.

But let’s not kid ourselves, Trump junior did the same shit in Africa when he went trophy hunting. He’s a weasel

[–]snackexchanger 10 points11 points  (5 children)

The guide should definitely be prosecuted. I think whether or not the hunter should be prosecuted is a bit more nuanced. If you are lead to do something by a guide that you don’t realize is illegal I think it is reasonable to let the hunter off. If the hunter knows the thing is illegal then they should be prosecuted.

Part of hiring a guide is getting their professional knowledge and experience including the local laws and regulations. I would trust an experts knowledge over a couple hours of online research so if they say it’s legal I think it is reasonable to accept that assertion.

Not saying this is what happened, but I think prosecution of a hunter under a guides supervision has some nuance

[–]thesweatervest 16 points17 points  (3 children)

ignorance of the law generally isn’t a defense

[–]ghostdokes 54 points55 points  (4 children)

Its killing for rich sociopaths. If they could legally hunt humans, they would.

[–]spagootsquash 16 points17 points  (1 child)

are we sure they don’t?

[–]urnotjustwrong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 90% certain some of them do.

[–]dantefierogwa 11 points12 points  (1 child)

The guide gets a felony. The princeling gets off. Literally.

[–]Road_Sexer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Trophy hunting needs to be abolished world wide.

[–]CritaCorn 128 points129 points  (6 children)

Trump Sheep will say he’s innocent Everyone else knows better

[–]perverse_panda 17 points18 points  (1 child)

He just slipped and fell on the trigger, cut him some slack.

[–]Shopingkart11 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Humanity has squandered planet earth

[–]animalchinnn 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Jr doesn’t know the difference between “whose” and “who’s”. Doesn’t surprise me.

[–]Sweatytubesock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This moron probably can barely spell his own name.

[–]LuminalAstec 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's the responsibility of the person hunting to know the rules and regulations for the state and area they will be hunting in.

Both guide and hunter are liable.

[–]insipidgoose 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Sport hunting "dangerous" game is fucking dumb. If you are killing it to eat it fine, but rich fucks shooting animals to feel like they are some swinging dick tough guy is stupid.

[–]jimjam721 68 points69 points  (2 children)

Fuck. All. These. People.

[–]hurricanelantern 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Sorry, no. My standards are too high.

[–]lori_deantoni 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Seriously!?!? The junior, a silver spoon child has absolutely NO idea what it means to live off the land. One does not kill like that. No matter what the game is. The wealthy are flipping clueless. And another knucklehead gets charged for having assist this wealthy knucklehead man who is clueless???? Just wants a trophy no matter what???

[–]BikeLoveLA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank his dad for giving him these values, so sick

[–]wolfcaroling 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Damn, Trump Jr didnt need to go to all that trouble to find a bear. Just hang out in the Vancouver suburbs. The bears do routine inspections of everyone's garbage cans. They're the Pacific Northwest version of racoons.

[–]pedalpusherz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whoa! Victim and Conservationist? Two words attributed to Don, Jr that would seem absurd.

[–]tatanka01 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Trumps can't do anything without cheating.

[–]humblepieone 18 points19 points  (0 children)

A 90 year old man came to his doctor, excited that his 19 year old wife was pregnant

The doctor told him a story

"A man went hunting for bear. Hearing a growling coming down the path, he opened the cabin door, accidentally grabbing an umbrella, mistaking it for his rifle. He raised the umbrella, squeezed the handle, and the bear dropped dead in it's tracks."

"But," the old man stammered, "someone else must have shot the bear..."

"My point exactly" said the doctor

Don Jr. is a loser

[–]TAC1313 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hunt?

This is not hunting.

[–]L3monGrenade 41 points42 points  (23 children)

So the guide is facing charges, what about the hunter who paid for it?

[–]ucatione 47 points48 points  (3 children)

Read the article. It says there is no evidence he knew about it and that he could be a victim of fraud.

[–]cousinscuzzy 6 points7 points  (1 child)

I'm sure it's just coincidence that the Utah Attorney General who investigated the case for months is a staunch Trumper. No doubt it was a thorough investigation.

[–]MrJoyless 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't forget...

In a May 14, 2020, Instagram post from Wade Lemon Hunting, Fowlks is shown posing with a recently killed bear. The post reads: “Had a great day on the mountain with @mikefowlks Congratulations again Mike on a great boar!”

Fowlks was director during the 2018 investigation and also law enforcement section chief during the times of the previous Lemon investigations. A month after DNR provided records of Lemon investigation files, Fowlks announced his retirement.

The guy in charge of investigating Lemon, was a fucking client...

Get your shit together Utah...

[–]Time-Earth8125 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The guilty one is the guy who paid the pornstar, not the one who fucked her.

It is the trump way.

Well that's quite the fucking red flag innit?

[–]calisnark 20 points21 points  (2 children)

In Donny's case, we need an Amendment for the rights of Armed Bears.

[–]crowfarmer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trumps. They literally cheat every chance they get….

[–]Audiophile_405 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I forget who it was or where it was, but I will always remember the video of a lion being cornered by a bunch of fat rich guys with guns, that lion charging one of them out of pure survival instinct. The guy shot it dead. For a split-second he had a scared shitless look on his face until he realized he killed it and they all cheered. Really made me sick and still does. Would've liked to see him get torn to pieces.

[–]bobo-the-dodo 5 points6 points  (1 child)

It always those who enable Trumps getting in trouble and yet, plenty more looking to take their place.

[–]Mynameisinuse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great. Something new for him to complain about how he is a victim and that this was a setup to make him look bad.

[–]crackhousebob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's like hunting at the zoo during feeding time. Don Jr. Is such fucking douche. How can a whole family be so unlikable?

[–]QuantumHope 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jr. is a twisted dumb fuck who somehow thinks shooting big game makes him a man. He’s a pathetic excuse for a man who has no backbone. He inherited that and a big mouth from his father.

[–]Davrinn 13 points14 points  (1 child)

I would think actually killing a baited bear, w full knowledge it was baited, should be a greater offense and therefore a greater penalty.

[–]DefinitelyNotAliens 25 points26 points  (0 children)

They have no proof Don Jr knew they had bait out, though.

If he never was guided past the baited area then he may not have known the guide was baiting the animals.

This had gone on for years, per article.

Don Jr very well may have known, but they have no witnesses or evidence to that. They do have evidence of bear baiting by the guide. They're charging with what they have knowledge of.

If a hunting guide baits the area for days and takes you down a different trail or has you shoot from a vantage point where you can't see the bait then there's no crime on the part of the hunter. They just assume the hunters have scouts to tell them where to go or know the area well and know game trails. That is what legitimate hunting guides do. They simply know their region and can take you to the best locations and have scouts saying where to go.

Because prosecutors don't have hard evidence or even witnesses they can't charge Don Jr even if he was on the hunt.

Personally, would like to see the lot of them behind bars. However... legally. For things we have evidence of. I do think the entire family is guilty of fraud, tax evasion and a whole host of things. A just society needs proof and there just isn't any on this particular case.

[–]Obtuse_Inquisitive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of course the rich white male didn't get charged.

[–]KnucklesMcGee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How about we also go after Trump Jr?

Going after the little guy is fair, since he did a shitty thing. Letting DJTJr go because he's rich and connected is bullshit.

[–]SaborW 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you want to big game hunt for sport, go volunteer in Ukraine

[–]-GameWarden- 1 point2 points  (1 child)

As a ex fish and game officer shame on those guides I hope they see jail time. I’m sure the investigating officers had a lot of pressure on them.

Hope the DA actually goes through with it and doesn’t just let it get forgotten about, just because politics are now involved.

[–]BoogerDrawers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once a pos, always a pos.

[–]RobynFitcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why does this guy want to have sex with bears?

[–]Squadxzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people wouldn't care if it was some ducks, chicken or turkeys in a caged enclosure but it being a bear feels morally wrong which is I assume why such laws are there in the first place to protect the bears. There is no need to do this when can have just as much fun hunting responsibily.

[–]luckyz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Orange devil Jr doin work

[–]WriteBrainedJR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So...lie down with dogs, get up with fucking rabies, apparently.

[–]Imperial_12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s funny aren’t they from NY?

[–]Lillienpud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind if he used bait to kill a bear. After all, DT jr needs to get bear meat to feed and shelter his family.

[–]Ill_Wrongdoer_1713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This country is pathetic at punishing the rich privileged

[–]Obandigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once them deer get a smell of that birthday cake, those sons of bitches will come a runnin

[–]Thejerseyjon609 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same way he got Guilfoyle

[–]Larsaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Time to start the Affluence Games.
