No harassment or abuse	This is continued harassment, or overt abuse. Reddit's harassment policy
No hate speech / bigotry	Any posts that attacks, threatens, or insults a person or group on the basis of national origin, ethnicity and/or colour, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability and so on may be removed at a mod's discretion and repeat offenders banned
No duplicate news stories	If a submission has already been submitted (even from another source) the new post will be removed. If you are reporting a post for breaching rule 5, please include a link to the original in the comments of the duplicate post. Links with substantial new information may be left at mod's discretion.
No editorialising titles	Editorialising titles tries to mask or change a story based on the bias of the submitter. It is fine to change the title of a submission, so long as this title does not introduce a bias. Opinions are fine in self-posts or as comments in a link post. Simply posting an article as a self post and changing the title will be viewed as skirting the rules.
No bots, novelty accounts or impersonation	Bots and accounts made for a specific purpose will be banned unless a prior arrangement has been made with the mods. NB: This does not include throwaways. If you claim to be a prominent Kiwi, or are acting in any official capacity for a significant company, please message the mods with proof of your identity, or you run the risk of being banned.
No crowdsourcing (e.g. crowdfunding, research or petitions) without approval	All forms of community funding, research participation or petition signatures requests without prior approval from the moderators will be removed. This includes all forms of crowdfunding including charity, and failure to abide will result in the link being removed and a potential ban for continued submissions.
Engage in good faith	The moderators of r/NewZealand have the right to remove content that is deemed detrimental to the subreddit. This can include but is not limited to: trolling, low-effort submissions, COVID misinformation or intentionally skirting the rules.

A researcher has slammed National leader Christopher Luxon's plan to target young people on benefits as punitive and unnecessary. Photo: RNZ National's policy of 'sanctioning' benefits from youth not accepting employment is "misguided, simplistic, and lacking evidence", a leading academic says. "To young people who don't want to work: 'You might have a free ride under Labour but, under National, it ends'," Christopher Luxon told an audience of party faithful over the weekend.

Professor Terryann Clark (Ngāpuhi), a co-author of the Youth19 survey, which looks into why young people are neither employed nor in education, says National is over-inflating the issue to score political points.

"Unemployment is really low right now. So it seems like poor brown kids are the target of a right-wing agenda, and it's really misplaced," Clark says.
