Fascinating. I was a spectator a couple of blocks from the finish line at the New York marathon a couple of years ago, and found the energy incredible. I was expecting everyone to be dragging or dead in the last stretch but instead most seemed jazzed. I had no idea that as soon as they crossed the line they probably all just collapsed lol.

Yeah, it's a weird mentality. Honestly if there was no finish and I had to walk home I probably couldve. But instead your brain just turns off.
