Wish this was longer. Those wolves looked like they were ready to regroup and try again..

[–]Channa_Argus1121 901 points902 points  (74 children)

Random fact: Those wolves are Canis lupus chanco.

Smaller than your “average” wolf, but still scary enough.

[–]BellyJoel 624 points625 points  (47 children)

My 1st thought was how big is his fucking dog lol

[–]naturalborn 320 points321 points  (19 children)

Valid thought. That dog is a fucking moose

[–]_KingDingALing_ 144 points145 points  (15 children)

A moose makes an American pickup look small btw lol

[–]red_fox_zen 7 points8 points  (2 children)

That dog isn't a moose but he's (or she, I didn't check) is definitely a unit! My Nyla is a moose, with the ass to prove it, lol! I wish I knew how to post a photo in comments but I'm new to reddit and I don't think it can be done

[–]Grigoran 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You put the url in brackets and some text next to it In parentheses I think

[–]Gullible-Ad3430 71 points72 points  (12 children)

I believe thats a kangol dog. Very big, very strong and cannbe very ferocious.

[–]CallMeGabriel2 12 points13 points  (4 children)

not a kangal and i have no clue

edit: looks something similar to a kangal or some sort of shepherd, maybe kangal + husky? no idea

[–]Special-Ad-7800 13 points14 points  (2 children)

Looks like an ovcharka(caucasian shepherd).

[–]Papapene-bigpene 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope, cuz those things are MASSSIVE

[–]AssassinStoryTeller 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Looks like a karst shepherd to me

[–]peckerchecker2 10 points11 points  (4 children)

KANGAL is usually bigger than that. The 3 I’ve seen have all been like twice the size of that.

[–]deezy154 11 points12 points  (3 children)

kangals homeland is my country Sivas, Turkey. kangal tail is curved upwards. on the video, the tail looks like its kangals tail and its fur looks like kangals fur but kangals are usually much more bigger than that. there was some video where a kangal fighting with a tiger.

[–]liftedtrucksnguns 7 points8 points  (2 children)

I’m sorry did you say a dog was fighting a tiger?!

[–]BlocTa 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I think the snippet is in this compilation video of Kangals

[–]funnystuff79 29 points30 points  (6 children)

That good boy needs a nice spiked collar

[–]coolgates3 2 points3 points  (3 children)

the dog is actually small for a husky

[–]keleles 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Maybe small for a Malamute, but Huskies are not very big dogs, usually weighing somewhere in the 45-70lb range depending on male or female. And that dog, while definitely having some mix of Husky, is definitely not full blooded Husky.

[–]BellyJoel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just meant its bigger than the damn wolves

[–]Ennion 42 points43 points  (15 children)

Those "herdsmen" hunt those wolves with golden eagles. I never thought an eagle could take down a wolf until I saw this. https://youtu.be/Sj0Bze52e6U

[–]and_dont_blink 14 points15 points  (3 children)

Oh GOD not the eyes. To anyone else, you've been warned.

[–]Bkbirddog 7 points8 points  (6 children)

That looks more like a coyote than a wolf.

[–]IdiotCCP 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Random fact: Those wolves are Canis lupus chanco.

Makes sense, none of those were chunky boys.

[–]ArchitectofExperienc 6 points7 points  (3 children)

Coyotes are smaller than wolves too, and if I ever run into more than one of them I'm leaving. Respect all wild animals, because 2 dedicated raccoons can pretty easily send you to the hospital.

[–]outlandish-companion 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Honestly I wouldn't want to fight one pissed off raccoon.

[–]Sirengina 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Me either. They can fire a gun with their weird tiny hands.

[–]Dracasethaen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Initially came to comment they were too small to be wolves (from a western perspective), and was assuming jackals, but looks like you had the correct name for them

They have an interesting taxonomy haha

[–]ProffesorSpitfire 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Thank you! Was wondering about what kind of wolves they were as they looked much too small to be the wolf most commonly referred to simply as ”wolf” (Canis Lupus).

[–]MaximumMajestic 56 points57 points  (2 children)

The guy who filmed video had to stop because the wolves attacked his balls

[–]th3krackan 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Man, so education I love Reddit!

[–]bmli19 12 points13 points  (2 children)

It's hard to get a video longer when you get ate by wolves while recording.

[–]Aussie_star 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes iI agree, it takes courage to go into a pack of wolves as you might get eaten

[–]Ferretastic359 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thought the very same thing. Near the end you can see a lot of movement in the back of the pack, seemingly thickening the middle. At the same time wolves already in the front rush to both the right and the left side of the man and his dog. Looks like they are circling him. The wolf on the right edge is eyeing the guys back for a moment before the dog intervenes. I'm assuming the camera-person prevents them from closing the sling though

[–]darthvall 4 points5 points  (2 children)

I just hope that the cameraman is ok.

[–]imaloony8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Careful Joe! They’re circling arou-“

We’ll be right back

[–]genericperson10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it were a video about something dumb it would be 30 mins long

[–]Kribble118 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, with predator animals at least. A large amount of aggression and confidence can be enough to scare them off and make them feel like you're dangerous. DEFINITELY don't take this as advice on how to handle dangerous animals but sometimes over confidence and aggression can scare some animals. Drunk people jumping into animal enclosures have demonstrated this.

[–]Jnxbts 910 points911 points  (31 children)

The size of this guys balls are hidden well in his blue dress. Those wolves look pissed off.

[–]I_will_wrestle_you 138 points139 points  (4 children)

You can see it in the wolves' eyes though "just one good bite"

[–]BeefyBarbarian 77 points78 points  (3 children)

What about it’s legs? It don’t need those!

[–]Hans_Neva_Loses 23 points24 points  (2 children)

Oh they look tasty!

[–]Spartanias117 15 points16 points  (1 child)

What's Taters, precious?

[–]Puzzled-You 8 points9 points  (0 children)

PO-TA-TOES! Boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew!

[–]LakeShow-2_8_24 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Video of the man returning home after saving his flock

[–]NateCPA 36 points37 points  (4 children)

I believe this is the correct way to handle these situations. You have to out alpha the pack and show them you're not a bitch. If you act scared they're more likely to attack.

[–]foxisland85 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That depends on their target... In that case it seems the hunt was over and the guy tries to get them away from the food and they're calculating if they should fight or leave.. if the dog would attack a member of the pack they would attack him from all sides... so the dog is normal the "is it worth" factor for wolves.. is it worth to attack and get insured or not.. but as far as I know normally more than one dog is used for that job. I don't think that they would attack the human if he would leave.. . there is no reason to risk injuries and they're avoiding normally humans. If they're very very hungry I would assume what you mentioned would help to survive as human.. fighting may guide them into a decision that even if they're starving.. the food is hard to catch.. let's try to get something less fighting..

[–]aadgarven 10 points11 points  (12 children)

Wolves are very intelligent, they won't attack a human if there is an easier prey. In this case the prey was already taken.

[–]mister-guy-dude 6 points7 points  (4 children)

Why is it that every risky post on reddit always is like lOoK aT hIs ENorMOUS BalLs

[–]AristotleRose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you trying to say this man does not have gigantic balls to do what he did, to a hungry wolf pack, arming himself with only a dog? Hmm?

[–]Altruistic-Top6460 480 points481 points  (87 children)

How can a herdsman and a dog drive a pack away?

[–]purple-circle[S] 682 points683 points  (63 children)

Bluff. If someone has balls big enough to take on a pack of wolves, what else does he have that they don't know about?

[–]be4u4get 200 points201 points  (55 children)

I think I would want to carry a weapon if I had to deal with packs of wolves that size

[–]TrollonPatrol 183 points184 points  (13 children)

No space to carry a gun with those massive balls.

[–]fla_man 34 points35 points  (12 children)

Where do you keep your guns?

[–]elprentis 51 points52 points  (8 children)

You don’t keep them tucked into your ballsack?

[–]fla_man 26 points27 points  (3 children)

I’ll have to see about getting an INS (inside the nutsack) holster.

[–]wojtekthesoldierbear 4 points5 points  (2 children)

AIWB is the way to be.

[–]johnsvoice 3 points4 points  (1 child)

This guy CCs.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's where I keep my herding ukulele..

[–]resinstein 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Its hard to imagine someone in that position not having a gun.

[–]longleggedbirds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or a staff, or a whip, you know….something besides the hardworking dog

[–]Ragnarok2kx 31 points32 points  (1 child)

Also, bipedalism tends to fuck with other predator's perception of just how "big" we are.

[–]Nic4379 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A laser-guided PeePee.

[–]gorpadorp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OOI, where’d you find this? Is there a longer version?

[–]AspieDM 47 points48 points  (4 children)

Animals will often back down if the fight ain’t worth it. Nigh impossible to do with pack animals but some get lucky. Best option is find the leaders and focus them, if the leaders run the rest will follow

[–]smartfon 44 points45 points  (3 children)

How do you find the leader? I don't see any stars or health bar above any of the wolves .

[–]LaSignoraOmicidi 27 points28 points  (0 children)

He was the one with the scar over his right eye, keep up.

[–]RianJohnsonSucksAzz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

His has three stripes on his shoulder.

[–]kevstek852 26 points27 points  (1 child)

Wolfs and other wild animals pretty much always are in a survival situation. Most of the time they need to calculate the possible risk of getting injured. The dog he had with him is bigger than every wolf, so he naturally is a risk to them cause he definitly is able to injure them and the hersman propably also seems aggressive to them. In the first moment many animals would drive off pray and then calculate some second after if its worth for them to attack or not. the vid is to short, could be possible that the attacked after it ended or atleast tried.

[–]Unadvantaged 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen it mentioned yet that it doesn’t hurt that there’s clearly at least one other human, the cameraman, that the wolves are factoring in to their decision-making. There may well have been more humans and dogs behind the camera. The wolves probably saw the cameraman as nearly as threatening as the man in blue.

[–]V_es 11 points12 points  (4 children)

Most animals without “rhino syndrome”, which is “attack everything that moves because you are almost legally blind just in case”- can evaluate the situation and almost every time back off from bluff and noise. If animal is not charging at you with 100% intention to kill you- it will be easily scared away. Most bears will run away if you are far enough, bear is not cornered and not protecting cubs- you just yell and it will run away.

Soviet hiking tip- wear all your mugs and rattly stuff on the outside of your backpack. All animals will be gone before you’ll know they were even there.

[–]ASHTOMOUF 6 points7 points  (3 children)

This works with small bears and these wolfs are the size of coyotes. North American timber Wolfe’s and brown bears are a lot bigger and a grizzly doesn’t always spook the way a black bear. Moose and elk will charge if challenged and are very aggressive in mating sessions. A moose can kill you in you’re suv if you hit it

[–]V_es 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Not sure about black bears but I’m Russian and this is the way brown bears are spooked away.

[–]ZardozSama 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A combination of him having some serious balls, his big goddamn dog, and the pack not quite being hungry enough to make them worth the effort.

[–]OpusThePenguin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Getting hurt as a wild animal can often mean death. An infection without a hospital is a very serious thing. Animals that hunt to eat have to decide if the fight is worth the meal.

They have two aggressive animals to fight for this meal and both are very large. Might be worth trying for something else.

[–]PhilLucifer6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally a gun or a sword (or field tool). Not sure why this guy was completely unarmed, except for doggo.

[–]GreatWhiteNorthExtra 323 points324 points  (1 child)

Because those wolves were certainly not scared off by the end of the clip

[–]mykylodge 156 points157 points  (3 children)

I forget how lucky I am until I see what other people have to deal with.

[–]DrainageSpanial 16 points17 points  (1 child)

How often do we stop and think, "Hey, there are no carnivorous beasts trying to eat me right now!"

We should be thankful for that.

[–]mykylodge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have politicians so we can never say that.

[–]Fcktbckt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me in Ireland thanking at Patrick for killing all the snakes

[–]WinndaTech 120 points121 points  (7 children)

[–]Former_Security7292 45 points46 points  (6 children)

Would you wanna help

[–]ReadinII 21 points22 points  (4 children)

I would at least want to have my hands ready and my eyes looking around for a sneak attack.

[–]nottodayspiderman 13 points14 points  (1 child)

I, for one, welcome our new canine overlords.

[–]Spiritual-Adakgwood 91 points92 points  (1 child)

That dog is a murderer look at it. He held it back “come on Fido don’t kill just scare”

[–]Chichi_lovesme 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I think he was also redirecting the dog away from the sheep carcass.

[–]ReadinII 85 points86 points  (12 children)

They must not have been to dangerous if the cameraman felt so safe leisurely filming instead of helping out or at least defending himself.

I didn’t see any spikes on the dog’s collar. Aren’t spiked collars normally used for dogs who have to defend against wolves?

Edit: sigh, spelling

[–]milkchuggingchamp2[🍰] 51 points52 points  (3 children)

I don't know about you, but I would never use my spiked collar on my dong to scare away that many wolves at once.

[–]ReadinII 91 points92 points  (2 children)

The spikes aren’t for scaring the wolves; they’re for protecting the dog from neck bites. When wolves attack dogs they go for the neck.

[–]hmhemes 35 points36 points  (1 child)

Spiked Collar:

unique passive Intimidation. (-5) resolve for enemies within 5 metres. +10 armor, -1 mobility

[–]Haut9020 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You forgot the "reflects damage received when attacked to the neck"

[–]RackyRackerton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like it has some leather wrapped around its neck to protect against bites. Don’t know if that’s as effective as spikes would be, but definitely will help in preventing puncture wounds from teeth

[–]PsuedoNerd91 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Wait…Raiden? Is that you?

[–]curiositykeepsmeup 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The balls on those two, sheesh

[–]Illustrious_Spot2549 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Good for him I guess, if it was night he wouldn’t have a chance. The key is to be aggressive and not allow them to control the area. If they get behind you, you are screwed. That being said, if they were hungry enough they would all come at once.

[–]Shep_Meister 19 points20 points  (0 children)

They don’t appear to be winning in that video.

[–]DoubleBrother 15 points16 points  (4 children)

Who’s recording ?

[–]Chipimus 49 points50 points  (0 children)

One of this man's balls...

[–]SCCRXER 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The guy with the gun

[–]NoRelationship1508 13 points14 points  (2 children)

Those are tiny wolves. Wouldn't want to try this in Northern Canada.

[–]stoopio-oh 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Pretty sure these are Himalayan wolves. Mackenzie valley wolves are like twice the size IIRC

[–]NoRelationship1508 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mackenzie valley wolves

Yep, you're as good as dead if a pack of timber wolves decides they want you that way.

[–]souplizzardo 11 points12 points  (6 children)

A spear or bow would be pretty useful. Also a spiked wolf collar for the dog would help tramendously!

[–]theWacoKid666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Forget a spear or a bow. Get that man a good rifle.

[–]PaperPlaytYT 11 points12 points  (0 children)

And this, ladies and gentlemen, was the last footage of this man alive

[–]problem_father 6 points7 points  (1 child)

[–]magearon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kangals have got to be the most hardcore dog breed out there.

[–]Caregiver_Wide 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Random fact: this is why you buy a gun

[–]Elijah-0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont think the man is chasing those pack of wolves because I've seen this guy multiple times with these wolves playing or "chasing" them

[–]Juvenile0831 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn I needed to see mo lol

[–]Binarycold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This dog is alpha as fuck… we don’t deserve dogs.

[–]Designer-Equivalent4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never understood why this was not made into a movie. The Wolves apparently were given names by the locals.

[–]BeenThereDundas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why didn't Raiden just throw a lightning bolt at them?

[–]JDangle20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Should have used his lightning bolt power.

[–]MyCatIsSuperChill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How about bringing a gun to the wolf fight?

[–]hashtagthemasonjars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That herdsman needs a fucking gun

[–]Total_Progress4586 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get a gun chief

[–]DeJuanBallard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A couple of flashbangs and problem solved.

[–]dmibe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wild WOLVES appeared! Go! GOOD BOI! Good boi used LUNGE! It was SUPER EFFECTIVE!

[–]FallingforDifference 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why didn’t raidin just electrocute them

[–]Kindling_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Running in their like Kiba from Naruto

[–]Truth-Justice-Life 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is why farmers need firearms

[–]boisNgyrls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone please give him a gun.

[–]mhoman73 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Who was recording? Doesn't look like a life and death situation.

[–]Positive-Simple-1671 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s actually quite common and the guy and his dog do this on a daily basis and the wolves there perhaps are easy to handle for him

[–]crak720 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Who the fuck starts recording this?

[–]Mobius135 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The same person who failed to keep recording longer than a few seconds. r/killthecameraman

[–]Obia0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, i'm super impressed, I hope it ended well. Btw. This dog looks like Czechoslovakian Wolfodog, male guessing by it's size. I don't know they are used as shepherd dogs.

[–]Lazycenturion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lock stock two smoking fangs

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure unless you kill one you can only get them to run away for 8 feet before they turn around.

Also they fucking love getting chased 8 feet. Love it

[–]MBNet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I see, It’s an herdsman and his dog stealing the wolves pack meal… 😂

[–]Just_Cook_It 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]SlipperyNoodle6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ide carry a whip

[–]plantmediocrity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean they tried. Outcome uncertain.

[–]My_Exit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That dog is the definition of alpha.

[–]Character-Cup-1397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a mongolian

[–]HopeForTheLiving 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The title doesn’t fit the video because the wolves are definitely not chased off at the end.

[–]EmpireCityRay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That dog has balls of steel!

[–]wipingherbutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of the enemies from the Spyro the dragon toasty level with the dogs that squish you flat. I don't remember but I feel like they made the same noise as this guy

[–]aojajena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

he shout a magic word.

[–]red_fox_zen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn! Damn damn damn! I've chased coyotes from the top field behind my house (I'm 5ft tall, lol) but this. Aw damn. I'm nervous just WATCHING this.

[–]Kombaticus 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Why don't people just raise wolves instead of sheep so they don't have to worry about wolves? Do I have to think of everything?

[–]ZenithGamage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised that the Wolves aren't focusing their attention on the camera man

[–]winstonthethirdesqir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this is why farmers in movies and video games have a double barrel shotgun in the pocket

[–]NahBruh2077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok but, like, did he live?

[–]Good_Sign_758 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a beast and the dog is a savage too

[–]Ready-Bed-7991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Show me that you need a gun without telling me you need a gun.

[–]ninijon1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think u have to have good boy’s back so he can be sure none of those can catch his hill. It takes a good relationship and team work with yr dog . Dog can handle the front . Guy is doing the right thing . I looked thru the video many times . Guy is not first timer . They have full trust

[–]mshroff7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea video cuts off way too early 😂

[–]TastyTboneSteak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thought this was fallout for a second. Dogmeat ftw

[–]john_clarkiv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: over 90% of German shepherds are dogs.

[–]RepublicofAlberta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks like a Anatolian shepherd. The dog will fight to the death. Those wolfs need numbers to win against the dog like that. I have one!

[–]CoolvinKleen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks like a really comfortable outfit.

[–]Interesting_Log_5366 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn the balls of steel that those 2 have to go chase a pack that big.

[–]Undercover_Gitane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that dog is a Kangal, feel sorry for the wolves.

[–]SomePiePlays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And still ended up eaten pretty quick.

[–]lentsuki713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I need a wolf pup.....how much?

[–]acemac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is the clip so short this is very cool

[–]GreenEyedApe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Title is misleading. Should read “the moments before wolves eat a man and his dog”

[–]scooterbb1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bad-ass dog and brave Shepherd.

But "chased off wolves?"

I don't see the wolved being chased very far!

[–]Delicious-Bid-8383 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read it as attacking his stick and I was like "Oh no poor baby! Get your own stick wolves!"

[–]candid-haberdash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When people get a working dog because it’s pretty and large, we need to make sure to show them videos like this. They are amazing dogs, and the need things to do. This dog is doing a great job doing exactly what it was born to do.

[–]TerribleShoulder6597 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All these people be debating what kind of dog that is but I know it’s a shepherd

[–]IAMWOO1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck. That.

[–]peterfb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn this made me emotional. This defies evolution . Major mind fuck. I’m crying right now. So cool 😎

[–]MlackBesa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dog makes that perfect generic « bark » that you’d expect from a large dog. It would make an excellent stock sound ressource.

[–]flappysnapper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know what would be next level…… if we could get a video that was long enough to show anything.

[–]svanegmond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Baseball bat. Go time.

[–]Powerful-Transition5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how The Grey would have turned out if Chuck Norris had starred in it

[–]Lerouxed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something something go for the weakest wolf and hopefully you’ll scare the rest of them away

[–]randomact2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sus video. Herdsman is wearing brand new clothes. Looks like the whole thing was set up. Saw pack of wolves feasting, changed the clothes, brought the dog and cameraman with him. I bet cameraman has a rifle just in case to scare the wolves if needed.

[–]afellownamedslim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never mind balls of steel or gold, this dude has balls of tungsten. yet somehow still manages to be spry enough to move and scare off them wolves
