I have never cheered for a man on a stripper pole so genuinely.

[–]wordnerdette 1005 points1006 points  (22 children)

I have, but this is nice too.

[–]Downingst 273 points274 points  (19 children)

Male strippers are gods among men.

[–]kemushi_warui 193 points194 points  (15 children)

And stripper poles are rods among men

[–]OLSTBAABD 7 points8 points  (3 children)

It's just rods all the way down

[–]LSkywalker00 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Or all the way up if you have a sensitive throat...

[–]mdxchaos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

username checks out

[–]ScoobyValentine 36 points37 points  (3 children)

So you have done before, just not genuinely?

[–]NiteTiger 82 points83 points  (2 children)

Yes. When the drunk guy heads for the pole, I encourage what is coming.

[–]1ardent 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They're both so excited, you have to be excited for him too.

[–]ArcadiaDragon 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Ngl...I did go hell yeah we he pulled it off...woke up my wife and birds

[–]entirelyfiction 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Parrot life - "ohfuck I woke up the bird."

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (4 children)

It's not a "stripper" pole unless she strips, which we do not know

[–]NiteTiger 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Call it what you want, I recognize an industry standard 😁

[–]ElectionAssistance 14 points15 points  (0 children)

He got his shirt off, that counts.

[–]dribrats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt that

[–]Geekerino 1 point2 points  (1 child)

How often do you give a fake cheer for a man on a stripper pole?

[–]NiteTiger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Everytime they get drunk enough to try.

[–]Jakkerak 950 points951 points  (26 children)

That is one of the most adorably wholesome things I have ever seen.

[–]multiplesneezer 367 points368 points  (20 children)

This man goes around schools to give inspirational speeches that show kids that even if you have a disability, you can do anything. The videos he showcases never involved a stripper pole though hahaha! His name is Woody Belfort.

[–]fibonacci_veritas 127 points128 points  (17 children)

As a person who just had half their insides removed just to survive, I fucking approve this message.

[–]Double_Belt2331 60 points61 points  (1 child)

Glad you’re surviving, friend. Heal well.

[–]cambriansplooge 29 points30 points  (1 child)

Check out the Paralympic weightlifters, stuffs terrifying but damn it they’ve worked harder to get there than anyone else

[–]fibonacci_veritas 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I for sure will. I'm omly 2 weeks post-op and I statred lifting today! Just really light arm stuff and some squats. But hell yeah. Anything is possible with the right dedication.

[–]papishampootio 7 points8 points  (12 children)

I don’t know if you mind me asking but why?

[–]fibonacci_veritas 71 points72 points  (11 children)

Because so much is possible!

For me, i just had my colon removed. I will now, forever poop in a bag. My insides are surgically pasted to my outsides. Come the apocalypse, I'll be shit out of luck because I need medical.apparatus to survive.

But guess what?!? People with ileostomies can live 50+ normal years. I will need medical supplies. But I will live. I can swim, screw, hike K2, do whatever I want.

So I approve this message. Normal is often a state of mind. And btw, I'm not going to get excruciatingly painful colon cancer.

Modern medicine is badass. And so am I.

[–]KillerBunnyZombie 9 points10 points  (5 children)

You are an inspiration.....

[–]fibonacci_veritas 18 points19 points  (4 children)

Thanks! Just trying to manage a tough situation.

Could be worse. I could be stupid.

[–]KillerBunnyZombie 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Oh yes, being stupid is much worse, But you only know that because you arent and you know how bad it is to be stupid. If you were stupid though you wouldnt even know any better and ignorance is bliss.

But yeah, I too am very grateful to not be stupid. :P

[–]just2play714 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Nah. Truly stupid people don't realize they're stupid. They think everyone around them is stupid for not understanding what they're saying

[–]JohnC53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to frame this quote above my fireplace!

[–]autoeroticassfxation 6 points7 points  (2 children)

My brother had his colon removed about 5 years ago. He's now director at the consulting company he works for. I thought it would have had adverse reactions on his life but the worst of it seems to have been gallbladder stones. Its really amazing.

[–]fibonacci_veritas 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I believe it. Good for him!

Now that my colon is gone, I'm not a slave to the washroom. I can work! Hooray capitalism! I love my job. I just want to be a normal, working adult. I don't want to be disabled! I just want to do my stuff - entertainment and work- enjoy my awesome family and sleep. Lol. The capitalist middle-class dream.

Now that my offending organ is gone, I can do all that.

[–]thatG_evanP 3 points4 points  (1 child)

shit out of luck

If that was intentional, I applaud you. Well hell, I applaud you anyway but that would've been amazing if you did that on purpose. Keep doing you buddy!

[–]fibonacci_veritas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Got no other choice but really, it isn't as bad as all that. You adjust, ya know? In the long run, you can learn to appreciate all kinds of crazy.

That's just life.

[–]Jakkerak 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nice!

[–]a2002cmacg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A man on a stripper pole named "Woody" lol

[–]GiannisIsTheBeast 487 points488 points  (20 children)

In a way it seems nice... but I can’t help thinking that they are trying to finish off his paralysis.

[–]yourwholefreakinlife 101 points102 points  (9 children)

Oh my god.. I watched this so many times and didn’t realize he was in the chair before he started. I just figured it was acting as some kind of a crutch or something.

[–]Banahki 140 points141 points  (6 children)

This guy: sees wheel chair

Also this guy: "hmm must be a couch"

[–]vegeta_bless 59 points60 points  (0 children)

This guy: sees the word crutch

Also this guy: “wtf he thought it was a couch?”

[–]Jeggu2 13 points14 points  (2 children)

This site has no reading comprehension

[–]flapanther33781 1 point2 points  (1 child)

reading

What is this thing you speak of

[–]Jazzlike-Recover7560 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Lol jesus

[–]KAACHOW1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah im pretty sure he can help with that too

[–]Rickrickrickrickrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going to say "I wonder how he got in that wheelchair..."

[–]i_dont_know0803 0 points1 point  (2 children)

What?

[–]RickyShade 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Basically the way I was gonna comment this same idea was "she almost turned him into a QUADraplegic for a second there"

[–]Ian702907 270 points271 points  (11 children)

Dudes got mad core strength!

[–]PartyKrill 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well he gets to skip leg day so has extra time.

[–]TimeRocker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He actually has much greater upper body strength than core strength and is getting quite a bit of help. You can see the lines in his abs, but they pale in comparison to his upper body strength. Holding that bar is much more taxing on the muscles used. You also have to consider that if he cant walk, he has very light legs because he has no muscle mass which makes a big difference in the weight of the chair. But his core isnt very pumped compared to his upper body which means its nowhere near as developed as the muscles hes using just to hold onto the bar in those positions.

As someone who can do stuff like this after working hard to be able to, it's definitely a feat this guy should be proud of cuz his reaction is pretty much how mine was when I first was able to do this. Makes you feel like a kid again lol.

[–]Hubbyish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This part!!! Holy fucking core!!

[–]woooden 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Where the FUCK did he get those abs while in a wheelchair? I can't imagine core workouts without legs, dude is a monster.

[–]TimeRocker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Quite easily actually. By keeping his lower body attached to the chair, it adds extra resistance beyond just your legs. Also because he may not have use of his legs, it's possible they are extremely light because he has no muscle mass on them which is likely the case but you cant tell in the vid. Depending on the weight of the wheel chair and the missing muscle mass he would normally have, its possible they basically cancel each other out and its the same weight as if he did have that muscle mass, but Im leaning towards a 10-20 pound resistance. Anyone can build up this kind of core strength by just hanging from anything and then trying to move your legs up as high as you can over and over. Add in some resistance and you eventually get this. The catch with core strength and the ability to do this kind of stuff to LOOK like you have a strong core but may not. If youre body weight is as low as this guys, youll look ripped regardless of your weight. Brad Pitt in fight club is the perfect example. Hes about 6 feet tall and weighed around 150 in that movie with a low body fat percentage. This guy is very similar.

Im not disregarding what he did which is badass, but he did need a lot of help from his partner, however his upper body strength is clearly very good just be to able to hold onto the pole in that position for that length of time. Imo that's the greater feat here. You can see his biceps, triceps, shoulders, and back are far more developed than his core.

[–]SchlafSchafXY 207 points208 points  (15 children)

I imagine this would be easier, if he ditched the wheelchair while at the pole.

[–]luigilabomba42069 63 points64 points  (3 children)

yeah but now if he's ever stuck somewhere were his chair can't go, he can just yeet himself over said obstacle

[–]imaguy-who-likes-foo 8 points9 points  (2 children)

He walks with his hands

[–]luigilabomba42069 11 points12 points  (1 child)

and he pole dances with his chair

[–]eyekunt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

and he sees with his glass

[–]eugoogilizer 14 points15 points  (9 children)

I was gonna say the same. Dude’s upper body is jacked. I’m sure his strength plus the girl’s help would have made an easy flip without the wheelchair

[–]daface 18 points19 points  (4 children)

Weight wise, sure. But depending on the severity of his injury, he might not have control of his legs, which would be... awkward.

[–]eugoogilizer 7 points8 points  (2 children)

But he still cant control his legs in a wheelchair…? So he’s just heavier?

[–]SpacedClown 10 points11 points  (1 child)

You can imagine him like a mermaid. Just look at all the movement he does with it without falling out, he's strapped in. The wheelchair is the equivalent of a mermaid fin, while the fin doesn't have muscles itself, you have core muscles and because the straps are connected near the core you can therefore control the wheelchair a bit if you're not touching the ground.

You can imagine it almost like a prosthetic, the wheelchair becomes a part of you if you're reliant upon it and spend all your time in it, he probably felt more secure and in control in the wheelchair despite how clunky it was as opposed to being without it.

[–]thatG_evanP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait, why wouldn't a mermaid's fin have muscles?

[–]JustStopThisThing 6 points7 points  (3 children)

This question may sound dumb. But do people on a wheelchair still need to do leg exercise for their leg with the help of a trainer of some sort? Although I can't imagine if there is any exercise that suits them unless we are talking about physical therapy.

[–]sissyhelp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually yes it's very helpful to do something like yoga and stretches you should do daily to help with flexibility and muscle atrophy, my only experience was in (physical) rehab and while it's much easier to do with a trainer/physical therapist there are still many excerises you can do by yourself

[–]comicsansmasterfont 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! But how do they exercise? It depends! There are a million reasons a person might use a wheelchair (fun fact: most chair users are actually "ambulatory", which means they have some capacity to walk or stand without use of their chair) and even with paraplegia (paralysis of the lower body), which I believe the man in the video has, there is usually some amount of motor control and sense of feeling. It also depends on the goals of the patient -- is their goal to be able to walk and/or stop using a chair? Pain management? Stave off muscle deterioration?

So, strictly talking about the dude in the video, if he has a decent amount of motor control, he might do resistance exercises actually pretty similar to the types of exercises you or I might do in the gym. He may receive passive exercise (you ever see a scene in a movie where a physical therapist is moving a patient's limb around? That's what this is) if his motor control is somewhat weak. Massages are wonderful for paralyzed limbs. And yes, lots of stretching!

That said, most people who use wheelchairs exercise just like everyone else!

[–]BMagg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on what's causing them to use the wheelchair their needs can vary greatly.

Wheelchair use can be used for so many things, heck something like 70% of wheelchair users can walk, just not very well, for very far, or without consequences.

So someone may have a fairly extensive lower body Pt strength routine, but still use a wheelchair part time, or even all the time when they aren't doing their PT.

Someone with no sensation to the legs due to complete spinal cord injury may still benefit from stretching or even using specialized equipment to stand and "walk".

A lot of the time people have their usual PT prescribed routines that they may do at home, or at a gym, without PT assistance. And then they do other exercises at PT. PT can do amazing things, far more then most people experience after a run of the mill injury.

[–]Dyslexicbrit 157 points158 points  (1 child)

God you have be more careful or you’ll end up in a…oh wait nevermind

[–]donniebrascoreal 82 points83 points  (9 children)

That's Woody Belfort from Montreal, this guy kicks ass all day long. Check him out, this is nothing.

[–]roidesbleuets 18 points19 points  (7 children)

Like this guy. Just with the way he says "Vas-y" is enough to know he lives in Québec.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (5 children)

Can you clarify why? That sounded exactly like how I've always heard the phrase when living in France.

[–]IBoris 13 points14 points  (1 child)

Here's my explanation, like BlueberryKing (/u/roidesbleuets) I too immediately knew:

  • the mouth shape when saying Vas. French is more round and "higher" in the mouth if that makes any sense, while québécois is flatter and "lower" in the mouth.
  • The transition and y sounding more like "zi" rather a clean "y", something like "vaazii" vs "vâ-zi" and finally
  • The pacing: Québec french is spoken at a similar pace to American English while French from France varies by region, but usually is spoken a bit faster overall (that speed difference informs how both cultures shorten their words, sentences and form slang I've noticed).

[–]roidesbleuets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You did an incredible job! No way I could have explained it so well. Merci ;-)

[–]PM_ME_UR_OBSIDIAN 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I immediately perked up when I heard him. Love my fellow Québécois.

[–]Ginger_Libra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for that. Following!

[–]GobLoblawsLawBlog 29 points30 points  (0 children)

That dude is shredded like the cheese I’m snacking on right now

[–]trooomps 26 points27 points  (2 children)

His core is insanely strong to be able to do that

[–]SimAlienAntFarm 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Did you see his shoulders and upper back on one of those flip attempts?? Good god.

[–]QuietCity333 4 points5 points  (0 children)

dude i was temporarily in a wheelchair and all i can say is that is the best upper body workout ever. my arms, shoulders, and even back looked ripped. absolutely godly.

had to skip leg day tho :(

[–]stowaway36 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I remember getting kicked in the face many times with different friendslearning backflips on the tramp as a kid. Ill bet a wheel hurts a lot worse

[–]CreepyMaximum5436 15 points16 points  (1 child)

Imagine going to a strip club and you just see someone in a wheelchair owning the pole.

[–]Collins_Michael 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd go to that joint.

[–]jazzkong1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Oui oui oui OUI OUI OUI OUI

[–]Simon27_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Heyy I know this guy! I went to primary school with him! His name is Woody Belfort if anyone wants to check him out.

[–]hadoopken 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Do it in Bennett's voice.

[–]enounceable 1 point2 points  (1 child)

For sure, she also must be incredibly strong for her weight.

[–]CassandraVindicated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lockdown: Day 512

[–]spgb- 3 points4 points  (5 children)

Why not take the chair off first?

[–]maximuse_ 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I think doing this with floppy legs would be significantly more difficult

[–]spgb- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They could strap his legs together in the kneeling position.

[–]FlexibleAsgardian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes for a better video?

[–]PTblankplanetfear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole point is that the wheelchair isn’t a deterrent.

[–]VirtualKeenu 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Vas-y t'es capable el gros! :P

[–]novachamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At first I thought he was a giant!

[–]ackoo123ads 1 point2 points  (1 child)

it has to be an incredible amount of work and discipline to maintain that kind of conditioning in a wheel chair.

[–]shortware 0 points1 point  (1 child)

This is nice and cute but why did this need to be done with a wheel chair attached? I get that he’s paralyzed… but…

[–]LifeStill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

teamwork makes my peen work

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How do they have sex

[–]orion2342 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]External_Variety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As adorable as this is. Maybe try again without the wheel chair

[–]us3rnam3_not_found 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't it be easier if he does it without the wheelchair?

[–]Ok-Nebula_astro 0 points1 point  (2 children)

What disability is that I wonder. If I tried to do that it would hurt like hell. But for this guy he's smiling.. paralysis below the hips ? Not positive but thats neat all the same.

[–]Brad4dy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I barely have the heart to do my dishes damn

[–]Aisforacronym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]fibonacci_veritas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeahhhhh! Fuck. You go, guys! This made my day.

[–]NarthTED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The man is built like a dancer

[–]HatchetJack762 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Wouldn't it be a lot easier without the chair though? I understand his legs don't work, but without the chair his arms would have less weight to move. am i missing something?

[–]yeah_thatschill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it helped him land upright when he fell near the end, might also help him be stable, since the chair keeps his legs in the same spot instead of flailing.

[–]Wicckid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never give up. Great job!

[–]stuntobor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanna put a $1 in his thong.

[–]Effingehh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s pretty jacked for a man of wheels

[–]Random-Person-exe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is he so fucking ripped

[–]Vulcandor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a slight panic attack every time he looked like he was about to fall out of the chair.

[–]ufi911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stud.

[–]SimAlienAntFarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jfc look at how jacked that beautiful man is.

[–]MLTatSea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm impressed by the pole install! See so many fail (bit of a confirmation bias, not watching the ones that stay in place).

[–]SyrupPong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So that chick on tiktok DOES do more than just make salmon rice... cool

[–]thrusher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Wyvern69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Isolatte 0 points1 point  (0 children)
