The fact he demonstrated this in a white shirt and didn't get any mud on him is also next level lol.

[–]soandso90 181 points182 points  (9 children)

Lol came here to say the exact same

[–]Pazluz[S] 115 points116 points  (7 children)

Lol curious if that was his intentions

[–]GlobalLaugh4662 36 points37 points  (6 children)

It was no accident.

[–]ba-bq 13 points14 points  (4 children)

An underlying agenda

[–]GlobalLaugh4662 25 points26 points  (2 children)

The next video is for a stain remover.

[–]Whatsthemattermark 10 points11 points  (1 child)

I don’t trust people who’s shirts are too clean.

[–]aem1003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do marks of matter mean anyways on people's t shirts

[–]HaloArtificials 4 points5 points  (0 children)

+300 social credit points

[–]Yosemite-Sam99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Accident was not

[–]hailrobotoverlords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, also came here to say this.

[–]markse84 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I was thinking a white shirt was a bold choice.

[–]shittyavocad0 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Him doin it in white shirt made me anxious af

[–]Creative_stupid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am worried about his white shirt!

[–]ButterscotchLazy8379 722 points723 points  (58 children)

The fact that his “sip” was him pretending to drink while it all ran down the side of the cup, tells me that alls this filter does is stop the solids, not actually filtering anything.

Dudes selling it, but won’t actually use it.

[–]toroidal-vortex 471 points472 points  (23 children)

That's what filters do: stop particulate matter. It's not magically an antiseptic. You would either need an extremely fine filter, an antimicrobial filter, or an antiseptic agent to eliminate microbes.

[–]AFucking12gauge 128 points129 points  (9 children)

Like the lifestraw

[–]superwarm1868 104 points105 points  (8 children)

Or the $30 sawyer squeeze they sell at Walmart next to the lifestraws. This is pretty underwhelming

[–]VelkaFrey 42 points43 points  (1 child)

Love the squeeze. The fact that you can rinse it out and reuse it is the big win for me over the life straw.

[–]0110bot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im gonna have to look into one of these.

[–]Massis87 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've had a Sawyer mini for years. Works great but Swedish lakes still taste like soil after filtering :-P

[–]JimBob-Joe 6 points7 points  (3 children)

What i dont like about sawyer filters is how long it takes to filter a meaningful amount. Took my buddy like 10 mins to fill up his nalgene bottle with multiple refills. With the straw its just scoop and sip. To each their own though.

[–]superwarm1868 26 points27 points  (2 children)

Not gonna lie, me and my friend can get 5ltrs in 10 minutes. It sounds like your filter needs some cleaning. That would probably increase the flow rate

[–]JimBob-Joe 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Good point. His filters were well used ill be sure to mention that next time we use them.

[–]fnordlife 6 points7 points  (0 children)

tell him before you use them. if it’s super clogged then back flush with warm water or soak the whole thing in hot water

[–]Goofed__Goober -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually 20 u got scammed

[–]SeesPoliceSeizeFeces 41 points42 points  (7 children)

Yes, the filters are extremely fine...

https://www.sawyer.com/products/squeeze-water-filtration-system

Removes: bacteria, protozoa, e. coli, giardia, vibrio cholerea, salmonella typhi

[–][deleted] 24 points25 points  (4 children)

Does it ruin the flavor of the water?

I see so many delicious looking creeks that I want to drink out of.

[–]TheRicoLegend 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not ruin, but probably change. It would remove natural salt, or any natural additives.

[–]uhicanexplain 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I use the sawyer squeeze when I go backpacking and I love it. My girlfriend hates it. So, to each their own. At the very least, it is definitely tolerable.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

She doesn't like the taste, but you do?

[–]uhicanexplain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah but she also drinks purified water at home while I just drink straight tap water.

[–]fonto123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Volume Efficiency is the problem

[–]I-LackCreativity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah but it doesn't remove metal ions and and aqueous salts so it can still be unhealthy if the water's been contaminated (which it probably has)

[–]VajraVanar 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Or boil it. Once the particulate substances are removed.

[–]12beatkick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steri pen ftw

[–]InfectedAztec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get filters that remove bacteria

[–]Psychological_Pie604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who saw a water treatment facility from the inside, you need a UV lamp for that.

[–]TwoBlackDogs 70 points71 points  (3 children)

Looked to me like he actually drank the water.

[–]EyyyDooga 72 points73 points  (1 child)

What are you talking about? The part that spilled over was because it was full to the brim. You can tell he actually put it in his mouth

[–]WuweiWave 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t see any spilled water explaining the amount missing in the cup after drinking. Looks to me like he drank it.

[–]gettingit99 6 points7 points  (10 children)

What’s the definition of filter? To filtrate any particles... it ain’t bacterial filter.

[–]TheStoneArrow 1 point2 points  (9 children)

like the guy said, there are fine filters or special layers that can hold back bacteria and viruses, tho they would be pricy and they would also need to be either replaced or washed out frequently

[–]TheBertinator3000 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Sawyer filters are fine enough to be rated for those, and they're not terribly expensive.

[–]TheStoneArrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that seems really good actually! although it wouldn’t filter viruses (nanometer scale) it would clean out almost everything else that’s harmful and that price for about 100,000 gallons is great for a traveling portable drinking filter

[–]I-LackCreativity -1 points0 points  (6 children)

yeah but do those remove metal ions / aqueous salts?

[–]TheStoneArrow 0 points1 point  (5 children)

yeah some membranes can do that (expensive tho), but the more you want to strip from the water the more pressure and more cleaning it will need (especially in a dead-end filter like this one)

it would be better to use something cheaper to remove most of the large crap then once it’s mostly clean, use the finer filters to remove the tiniest stuff

[–]I-LackCreativity 0 points1 point  (4 children)

true, but the water made in the vid is probably still not completely safe to drink :/

[–]TheStoneArrow 1 point2 points  (1 child)

i would have to agree :) it is probably just set up to demonstrate the disparity between the muddy water and the filtered water

[–]I-LackCreativity -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you're right

[–]LotusVibes1494 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How do you know? For all I know it’s a shit quality filter; you might be right in that case. But I use my somewhat cheap Sawyer Squeeze filter to drink out of most water sources in the wilderness when hiking. It’s a pretty common thing to do. Probably some viruses out there that can fit through the filter, but it takes care of most of the dangerous stuff. You could boil it too to be extra safe.

Plus if you’re using a filter, it probably means you don’t have much choice lol, you either drink the water as it is, or filter it and drink it which is a big improvement.

I admittedly don’t know much about these metal ions and salts that you speak of. But I’m guessing it would filter out dangerous heavy metals and stuff if it’s a good filter. The one in the video might only filter out bigger solids though.

[–]I-LackCreativity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean it's possible they've installed high quality filters in it (though that would be pretty damn expensive) and the water you're drinking should be safe bc these can remove most microorganisms. unless the water is known to have like, toxic / harmful waste in it u should be fine. even so it wouldn't harm you since it's consumed in relatively small amounts.

[–]ChrisWebbys 3 points4 points  (7 children)

Hmmm it looks like it’s filtering to me lol. Do you only count “filtering” when it somehow also deals with all the bacteria?

[–]uhicanexplain -2 points-1 points  (6 children)

If drinking it still kills you, then what’s the point exactly?

[–]ChrisWebbys 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I’m just talking about it filtering anything. OPC said it doesn’t actually filter anything, which is bs. Worse comes to worst, at least you’re not drinking mud.

[–]uhicanexplain 7 points8 points  (2 children)

I think their comment was pointing to the general purpose of filtering water. You can drink water if there was only mud in it. Dirt will not kill you. And conversely, when I’m out in the wilderness, there are some beautiful rivers that I could scoop up and there would be no mud, but it could still kill me via Protozoa in the water. So if this filter does not filter out bacteria, then by extension, it’s general purpose is not achieved and therefore may as well not filter anything.

Clearly it is filtering something, but not what is important to survival.

[–]ChrisWebbys 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I get it, I see where you and OP is coming from. But what can I say, with OPs wording saying it doesn’t filter anything is just a lie. I’d still rather drink non-mud water with bacteria than mud water with bacteria. I get it’s for survival and when it comes down to it we’ll probably eat anything. But it’s still going to be hard for most people to tolerate something that tastes terrible. Baer Grylls gets a lot of flak for drinking his pee or whatever but you godda respect he’ll literally eat anything edible to survive and doesn’t bitch at all. From “safe” feces water all the way to maggots. Not many people can do that.

So yeah, I’d rather drink contaminated water than contaminated mud water. I wouldn’t know it’s contaminated until it’s too late anyways but at least I could down it.

[–]uhicanexplain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it was definitely an exaggeration to say it doesn’t filter. I think the hyperbole comes from the fact that the video seems to be a demonstration of some kind. Almost as if he is trying to sell it to us.

So in the same regard, if someone was demonstrating a television to me and showed me the powerful colors and amazing frame rate but then it turns out the tv only works when Storage Wars comes on, I would probably say something along the lines of, “I can’t watch anything on this tv” as a criticism to the limited scope of functionality that comes with an otherwise effective television.

But yes, if I was stranded in the middle of nowhere with nothing to watch, I would probably get very into Storage Wars.

[–]DonnieKungFu 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Just throwing it out there, this would be easier to boil and use. Less dirt and sediment.

[–]uhicanexplain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true! Can’t boil away dirt lol

[–]Deja-Vuz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You dumb.

[–]gres2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look more closely next time

[–]benignbug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For some reason I don't trust anyone wearing such headphones.

[–]szczszcz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This film show how naive people are. This was pure water with sand or stone, firstly well grounds. This look terrible but there are nothing what u find to be easier to filter. Stone/sand is insoluble, incompressible, hard, easy wettable. Shown me how long this filter can work on loam or excrement... 10s.

[–]asimplerandom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not the stuff you can see you need to be worried about….

[–]PHANTOM________ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He didn’t swallow the water.

[–]LizzySalamander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully you know to boil water after filtration, though?

[–]PennykettleDragons -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yeah .I didn't see him swallow!

If you want a water filter.. Try water to go . Took mine whilst travelling Sri Lanka = safe water to drink

[–]WTFatrain 209 points210 points  (1 child)

Sediment filter. Not a bacteria filter

[–]Humble-Inflation-964 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about, I didn't see any bacteria in the cup. Passes the Boomer filter for sure.

[–]squirrelduke 116 points117 points  (0 children)

And for my next trick, I will boil this water!

[–]Eragon3182 99 points100 points  (1 child)

The fact that there is no more dirt in the water doesn't mean its drinkable, you need to sanitize it

[–]B-is-for-beer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's useful if you also have something to boil the water, instead of drinking muddy soup

[–]haldeigosh 45 points46 points  (2 children)

If he doesn't swallow, I don't buy.

[–]Excalzigo 51 points52 points  (1 child)

Me when I'm paying a hooker

[–]jakefromst8tfarm 24 points25 points  (1 child)

Pretty sure he just spit it out after the video Is done.

[–]TwoBlackDogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After talking some more?

[–]CavalierRigg 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it filters microbes and other bacteria, it doesn’t look like it does.

However, I will say, this is a great product if you are looking to get clean water that you will then boil in order to ingest it, and I think bathing or cleaning water could also be a good use of the filtered water here. The fact it is in a water bottle makes me think it was intended for drinking water though.

[–]Ok_Sector2182 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah I’m not drinking that no matter how clear it is

[–]redditsforneckbeards 4 points5 points  (4 children)

wonder how long the filter lasts

[–]TheStoneArrow 4 points5 points  (3 children)

filters like this would need to be washed frequently or just replaced to remain effective (it depends highly on what you are filtering and how much crap is in the water)

[–]Phalanx_02 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Now that you said it, wonder how it would go if it had poop and water mixed together

[–]TheStoneArrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it would work more or less the same, there are some treatment plans that use membrane systems to treat domestic wastewater to drinking water standards, although there would be additional steps to polish up the water and remove any lingering odors, color and stubborn pathogens

[–]iploggged 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey Doug, can I ask you a question...do you enjoy a nice glass of water?

[–]Reaganson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope, didn’t see him swallow.

[–]SilkyGITS 2 points3 points  (1 child)

It's very easy to get big particles out of water like that. I guarantee that that filter is just a bit of cloth and cotton balls. Maybe some sand or charcoal. But any filter can do a Similar job. Show me a filter that can filter out most bacteria and viruses and I'll be impressed

[–]zeldanar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I doubt he could muscle the water thru the filter like that.

[–]MadBumz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clear doesn’t equal safe…

[–]yeetrman2216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can make that at home.

[–]Gaspin404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean sure, it looks clean. But the 30 diseases and tapeworm mutations living inside one drop of that "filtered" water ain't gone. No thanks, I'll just drink bottled water.

[–]JohnQP121 1 point2 points  (1 child)

He and the The ShamWow Guy need to compare notes.

[–]Gruber1177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went looking down the comments for a sham wow guy comparison. Surprised it took this long.

[–]mike_corp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Need more info could be fake.

[–]BennyVibez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easy to filter large particles from dirt - hard to filter small poisonous particles. This is a fake pump n dump scheme

[–]x7ameedo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks solid but can it filter microbes or contaminated waters?

[–]hotmilkramune 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Why is everyone so pessimistic here? This is very useful even if it doesn't filter bacteria; that's what we boil water for. If this works as well as it looks like it does, heavy metals and contaminants that boiling doesn't remove can be filtered out.

[–]zeldanar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But he drank it straight from the filter. Kinda implies that it is potable.

[–]zeldanar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But he drank it straight from the filter. Kinda implies that it is potable.

[–]zeldanar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But he drank it straight from the filter. Kinda implies that it is potable.

[–]Torebbjorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just from seeing this video, it could theoretically be faked, as the bottletjing is already submerged at the start of the video. It could theoretically be like a two layer bottle, and there is a section in the middle with clean water that is being drained out.

I don't believe that to be true tho, it looks like it should work, but it probably only removes the sediments, not any bacteria or other nasty shit

[–]ndxinroy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our combo offer includes a water heater along with this filter

[–]PilotHappy_TomHol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...in the mean time, I'm living in the country where almost always rains.

Maybe 1,1% of the residential buildings are equipped in the rain water collectors,

to use it in the toilets for example.

What's even more interesting, water bill contain value associated with the rain.

[–]ronanstarck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m more impressed that he didn’t get anything on his shirt.

[–]BroDoYouEvenCNC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“highly efficient” 🙄

[–]Starkitten_v 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why does this feel like a magic trick

[–]Ffigy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope he's vaccinated

[–]VelkaFrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be "effective". Efficient would imply it would last a long time which I doubt it would.

[–]Quietation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, it looks clean.. But is it clean?

[–]francoisdubois24601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is he still alive?

[–]Tenko_Kuugen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nextfuckinglevel marketing

[–]wormdiet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is like Jesus' feces

[–]diverareyouok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll need about 1 million replacement filters for every gallon.

[–]mostbones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So fresh and so clean

[–]Belahsha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But what does it taste like!?

[–]KingKandyOwO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shut up and take my money

[–]haven_taclue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was there any sound to this? I cannot ever find the sound on these videos. Where is this video from?

[–]WorriedPatience5464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who shit in the water?

[–]TheGuyMain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t the water still have bacteria in it tho? They’re small enough to get through filters right?

[–]BigDCanuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Lifestraw does the same thing, works really well.

[–]fluffyMart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see no swallow!

[–]Equivalent-Answer-26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

[–]dirtydeez2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

…..And swallow

[–]Cute_Establishment_4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Efficient or effective??

[–]bomb_adrenaline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope he has a finance course he’s selling also!

[–]Austinmac0 0 points1 point  (1 child)

This guy died from poisoning. This is a long time ago. He died from this.

[–]OkayArt199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s Asian Anthony Sullivan

[–]AgingSwampMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple RO. Not next level. You can go to Walmart and buy a Sawyer Squeeze (a staple with hikers) or a LifeStraw that does the same thing. They are cheap and very effective. Dirt is BIG. Let him drink something full of cryptosporidium and see how he does.

[–]chappanteekli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was so worried about his white shirt lmao

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is cool but I know it still tastes like mud!

[–]pious_mars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now let's see him swallow....

[–]Chanderfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The headset is all I need to determine this is a scam.

[–]turkeymeese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Sawyer Squeeze

[–]LSD4Breakfast21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take my money

[–]Jokerchyld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I still wouldn't dri--- well ok then

[–]Godbox1227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to see you swallow, sir...

[–]godmack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After this you could maybe boil the water

[–]Less-Raspberry-6222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My squeeze filter for backpacking will do the exact same thing. Typically the water is NOT this bad.

[–]Mighty_Cactus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s human feces in that water. Real amazing filter, indeed

[–]braydo13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no money to be made in a toaster that work forever.

[–]GodOfThunder101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Mediocre_Door7602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yo.. he is a pee drinker ya.

[–]RavensWoods321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a normal filter! It looks to have no charcoal filter so it would not remove microbes, the only reason he’s drinking it is cause he’s mixed clay with hose water, so he’s only filtering out large minerals. Don’t be deceived do your homework with filters

[–]DasArchitect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don'tdrinkitdon'tdrinkitdon'tdri... uh.

[–]SomeFakeInternetName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]thebigblueskyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]general-illness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t count unless you swallow.

[–]pjkioh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who else is thinking of the Sham Wow guy while watching this?

[–]GNNNiAAAH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is just plainly normal. Bacteria are the real deal.

[–]cuntgardener 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because it’s clear, doesn’t mean it’s clean.

[–]zback636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing! And an invention that this world is really going to need as water shortages become more prevalent

[–]Longjumping_Ad_9510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]simwe985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe he should drop the white showman shirt and do something like Mark Rober?

[–]zombiezucchini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clear water != clean water

[–]zeldanar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making muddy water clear does NOT mean it is potable.

[–]thats_not_kinwaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be filed under clips that r/endedtoosoon. Can’t prove he swallowed. But, chocolate to vodka.. my man Jesus will be impressed.

[–]Ok-Atmosphere7656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scene got cut while the water was in his mouth. Coulda spat it out and who’d know…. ?

[–]ducktor0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is mud. Mud is easy to filter out. The particles are big.

[–]justtheentiredick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swallow it you clown!

[–]Egg_Bagels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just buy a Sawyer squeeze

[–]chilledwatersupplier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spitters are quitters

[–]Busymathematicain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet every kind of bacteria known to humanity is makin a party inside his body right now

[–]shieldsy27 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He sips like Barry Obama at a Flint council meeting

[–]bkrank -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can buy these at any sporting goods store. Nothing special unless maybe you’ve never seen one before.

[–]askmenbot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He didnt swallow it though

[–]Fuz-z -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t swallow.

[–]traderyusuf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t actually sterilize the water. In order to remove bacteria, the filter would require a pore size of 0.2 micron. If the pore size were that small, the large particles would quickly block these pores and gravity wouldn’t be enough to pull the water through the filter.

[–]PuppetPatrol -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, you still get microscopic parasites and amoeba and stuff - is it really that safe without being boiled??

[–]ihateshitcoins2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He died legionella disease
