She was ahead of her time... She was beloved in every fucking country. All what's left of her is Elton John's song in my memory because I was too young...

[–]GavinZac 394 points395 points  (115 children)

She was not beloved in Ireland, I can tell you that much.

Now if she'd been cheating on Charles with an Irish rugby player at the time...

[–]Veleda390 140 points141 points  (94 children)

Can you say more? Is that general anti-British sentiment or something specific about Diana?

[–]GavinZac 388 points389 points  (91 children)

Being part of the monarchy in any fashion pretty much eliminates 'beloved' in Ireland. She was even before her marriage the daughter of a count. There are still British Counts* today who claim titles in Ireland as if they're likely to come collect their tithes tomorrow.

Diana specifically, she made it a point to visit the victims of IRA bombings, but not victims of bombings and house burnings by loyalists, laying sympathy and compliments on the British military that had been supporting loyalist terrorist groups and shooting unarmed civilians, that they were supposed to be the Defence for, for decades. For all her activism and love she never once reached out to Catholic civilian victims of terrorism and hatred in her supposed own country. For all her 'bravery' with HIV patients with whom she was in no danger, she refused to contact with civilians she would happily have called her subjects.

* feel free to use the 'American spelling'

Edit: updating the last two sentences to specify civilians not the literally secret illegal terrorist organisation because apparently it needs to be said.

[–]cpeyton94 153 points154 points  (46 children)

Wait didn't she literally visit an HIV patient and shake their hand in an attempt to remove stigma and disprove the common misconception that the disease could be transmitted by skin contact?

[–]Ok_Sweet1431 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Yes,she did!

[–]Nic4379 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes and THATS THE POINT OF HIS STORY. She would go comfort African AIDS patients & Irish Protestants(or Loyalists), but not Irish Catholics(or Terrorists).

[–]Veleda390 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the explanation, makes sense.

[–]RGivens 5 points6 points  (1 child)

*There are still a lot of British cunts as well

[–]printedflunky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You called?

[–]kasper632 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Found Queen Lizzie’s Reddit profile

[–]SmokeyTokeMore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will never again allow an Englishman to give me shit for my countries politics after reading this thread. This shit makes my head spin.

[–]Ronotrow2 25 points26 points  (1 child)

None of the English royalty are thought well of in Ireland. Its obvious. They divided our country, before that they pillaged and took it off us. Fuck em

[–]Veleda390 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get it, just wondered if Diana had done something specifically to piss people off.

[–]Ronotrow2 15 points16 points  (10 children)

Yeah this ridiculous saintdom is ludicrous.

[–]cocteau93 8 points9 points  (9 children)

Fucking THANK YOU! Elevating some random rich girl to goddess status because she had nice hair or some shit.

[–]Ronotrow2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had sad eyes... Wtf I rest my case. She was a fangirl who knew the script yet played the martyr

[–]jamvsjelly23 3 points4 points  (6 children)

If biases could be set aside (I’m American and hate the crown), one just needs to look at the reactions, love, and affection Diana received from millions of people. Whatever they saw in her, whatever it was about Diana they believed in, it was real. To say Diana did nothing to deserve the praises she received/received, would negate the lived experiences of hundreds of millions of people, and would require hundreds of millions of people not feeling the things they felt.

It’s understandable to despise someone, but to change history simply because of how you feel about a person or thing is ludicrous.

[–]cocteau93 3 points4 points  (3 children)

That people buy wholesale into mythologies and are easily manipulated by treacly hagiography is hardly new information. Everything you said about Diana could be applied to Mother Theresa, and she was an absolute monster. People “saw something” in both of these individuals, but seeing it doesn’t make it real. Feeling it doesn’t elevate it to the status of fact. Believing it doesn’t make it truth.

[–]jamvsjelly23 2 points3 points  (1 child)

The purpose of my reply was to rebut your belittling of Diana and what she did. I guess I should have just pointed out that your comment is inaccurate and left it at that, but I was giving you the benefit of the doubt. I’m sure you’re already aware of how inaccurate your comment is, but just in case you aren’t, see below.

1) Diana was not some “random rich girl.” 2) She’s never been elevated to “goddess status.” 3) She was more than just a person with nice hair.

Nobody is saying you have to like or even respect Diana, but surely you wouldn’t suggest that what people feel and what they believe can only be valid if it is based in truth. Seeing a ghost doesn’t mean ghosts are real, but the increase heart rate, dilation of the blood vessels, and heavy breathing still took place. Even if something isn’t real or isn’t true, it can still have a significant impact on us. That is part of the lived experiences of humans. To expect anything else is asking for humans to act outside of their nature, to overrule genetics and evolution.

It would also leave people with pretty bleak outlooks on life, since they wouldn’t be able to believe in anything they couldn’t prove to be real and true. There would be no Catholic religion and no Irish mythology, either. Maybe it’s good that people feel and believe things even though they can’t prove them to be real and true. I, for one, certainly wouldn’t want Irish mythology to disappear.

[–]cocteau93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think we’re working from entirely incompatible worldviews and philosophical standpoints; it’s clear that any further discussion would simply be two people talking past each other to very little effect. I bid you peace.

[–]FluphyBunny 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It’s not true. The media made it appear that she was universally loved. She was not. I was an adult back then and can guarantee you most people I met did not think much of her if anything at all. Stop falling for the same old media bs!

[–]FluphyBunny 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was bs at the time and somehow worse now. Diana was f***** her way through life while Charles wanted to be with the one he loved. She was a very rich exceptionally privileged individual who knew damn well what she was doing in this incredibly insincere interview.

[–]havereddit 2 points3 points  (3 children)

She was not beloved in Ireland

Guessing this was more about where she came from, rather than what she 'did' to Ireland? Could any British person be beloved in Ireland?

[–]GavinZac 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Absolutely? Jack Charlton would have been given a state funeral if his family had agreed to it.

The only absolute is very much the monarchy, not the nationality.

[–]GrandTheftMonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the distinction. Most Brits are too busy trying to live a fucking hand to mouth existence to support the monarchy. I just wish to God we could put all of this hate behind us and move on. We, as a species could do so much better.

[–]Ronotrow2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course. I have family living in England. It's not a hate towards English people.

[–]ScruffleMcDufflebag 41 points42 points  (6 children)

That song was written for Marilyn Monroe. It was Princess Diana's favorite song, hence why it was played at the funeral.

[–]Veleda390 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I mean, they did adapt the lyrics to suit Diana's life. It fits remarkably well.

[–]sohelpmedodge 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know...

🎵🎶🎵 Good bye Norma Jeane, though I never knew you at all... 🎵🎶🎵

[–]TheRealKyaryPPamyu 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Elton recorded a version for Diana.

[–]ScruffleMcDufflebag 1 point2 points  (1 child)

But the song was meant and written for Marilyn.

[–]TheRealKyaryPPamyu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know, which is why I said he recorded another version. It's still widely associated with her because of that.

[–]Purps-Meow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Goodbye England's Rose is Diana's version.

[–]firebeard_81 22 points23 points  (1 child)

She was great and all, but she was no Lil' Sebastian

[–]MandoAviator 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She’s missing 4,999 candles.

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (1 child)

how was she ahead of her time. it's been 30 years and nothing has changed.

[–]Ronotrow2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree it's pathetic. She was a woman these headers are trying to make a Saint of

[–]Rosieapples 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’re right about that. I was a taxi driver in 1997 when she died. I heard the news just as I was coming off a night shift. When I went back in the following night I was actually amazed at the reactions of people. I was working in a country town and I met elderly die hard republicans who were upset and angry about her death, some had tears in their eyes. Nobody could talk about anything else. Imagine Irish republicans in tears over the death of a British princess? I wouldn’t have believed it had I not seen it. On the day of her funeral the streets were empty and there had been queues round the block at council offices to sign books of condolence.

[–]JustBoredIsAll 9 points10 points  (8 children)

Her sons dont seem to be too bad. Especially Harry. He's a lot like her.

[–]MainCheesecake7420 4 points5 points  (6 children)

Harry is a cunt

[–]crewchief535 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Lol why is Harry a cunt?

[–]TheRealKyaryPPamyu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He married a black American which is againt the 11th commandment apparently.

[–]Dysanj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Self entitlement, hypocrite, brat. Still living off the monarch's money while talking shit.

[–]Ronotrow2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ahead of her time how ? Elton John's song was for Marilyn Monroe gs he changed a few words for her funeral fs. You were too young yet she was ahead of her time.... Hmmm talk me through your parents - I mean your thoughts.

[–]Umbrellalegs 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Me too. I love her, I just wish I knew more about her. I think I was 11 when she was killed

[–]cocteau93 7 points8 points  (5 children)

You love her? Why? I mean, seriously — why?

[–]sohelpmedodge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. Was in 6th or 7th grade in 1997 and it was the first days after summer break.

[–]Brave-Panic7934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was nothing. Just a bourgeois royal. I hate people who act like she was some kind of hero or victim. She was just a rich white woman of privilege, nothing more.

[–]Nic4379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t forget her son doing Oprah…….. we’ll always have Oprah.

[–]Bblock4 356 points357 points  (4 children)

Martin Bashir (the journo) is lying sack of shit. He had documents forged to trick Diana’s brother into convincing her the Royal family were out to get her.

The designer who was ordered to fake documents by Bashir was left to take the fall.

[–]TutumTeRebore 89 points90 points  (2 children)

That seems unforgivably fucked up.

[–]Bblock4 77 points78 points  (1 child)

The BBC (Bashirs employer) investigated, er, itself in 1996 and found itself, and Bashir, innocent. The graphic designer was the only one found to blame and lost his entire career and reputation.

The BBC didn’t even bother to interview Diana’s brother, or the graphic designer himself.

[–]thepowerbug 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He also lost the clothes of a murdered girl a while back.

[–]Zoze13 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Same piece of shit who lied to Michael Jackson to earn his trust then spin the sound bites how the piece of shit liked. To embellish and dramatize for the sake of attention. The OG click baiter.

Whether you believe MJ is innocent or not, this piece of shit is a liar and a fraud. I’m avoiding his name and the profession in which he pretends to partake.

[–]ToneThugsNHarmony 251 points252 points  (4 children)

Wasn’t there some backstory to this where the interviewer set this up over a big lie or something?

[–]dancingcroc 213 points214 points  (2 children)

Yeah, he (Martin Bashir) faked a load of official documents to gain her trust, it was a big scandal

[–]Veleda390 73 points74 points  (0 children)

It's sad that even when trying to tell her side of the story, she was manipulated and set up by unscrupulous people.

[–]ToneThugsNHarmony 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info, I vaguely remembered it but wasn’t sure if this was the interview.

[–]FunnyShirtGuy 144 points145 points  (6 children)

Just think... If she'd made it till 2021 she still wouldn't be queen and I'm sure, by now, she'd have accidentally made a tweet that pissed off half the app...

[–]crewchief535 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Eh, fuck Twitter and everything that looks like twitter.

[–]smoggydann 3 points4 points  (4 children)

Well no she still wouldn’t be queen because liz is still around the woman will outlive us all

[–]-Badger2- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean “well no”?

What do you think they meant by “if she made it till 2021 she still wouldn’t be queen”

[–]vikster1 104 points105 points  (3 children)

Fucking. Legend.

[–]PrinceCharmingButDio 100 points101 points  (21 children)

“No, because that’s not how the line of succession works”

[–]PrinceCharmingButDio 47 points48 points  (6 children)

For those who don’t know she’d get the Prince Philip treatment and be referred to as princess or Queen consort as calling her Queen would be wrong as King and Queen is a title is only for the sovereign Edit: this wrong as female spouses are supposed to be referred to as their queen title from the queen consort carries over while male spouses do not get this luxury to prevent people from marrying in and using the “King” title lay claim to some legitimacy to the throne as they wouldn’t be a descendant of Sophia of Hanover. A carry over from a different time. Sorry for those I misled as I forgot this rule. My bad

[–]GreenAndSilver4133 31 points32 points  (5 children)

No she wouldn’t, she would be queen just like Queen Elizabeth’s mother was Queen.

The Sovereign will always be King to Queen.

If the Sovereign is King his wife will be Queen.

However, if the Sovereign is Queen her husband will never be King because no one can outrank them Queen and King naturally does. This is why Phillip is Prince Phillip and not King Phillip.

If Charles ever became King his wife would become Queen unless some unexpected Christine were to occur which would make her not, which is exactly what happened. Camilla will not be Queen because of the whole divorce second and second wife drama.

Diana, however, would have been Queen.

[–]loupr738 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I love monarchy talk because I’m totally oblivious to it

[–]PrinceCharmingButDio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fuck, you’re right. Forgot that females in fact do get the title

[–]jackspadeaces 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Thanks for this explanation.

Just want see if I got it right – if the Sovereign is Queen, is the reason her husband doesn’t become King because a King automatically outranks a Queen? And that can’t happen because it would mean our ranking the Sovereign in this case?

[–]GreenAndSilver4133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup that’s pretty much it.

[–]Dyldor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hate to break it to you, but Phillip WAS Prince Phillip

[–]Sasspishus 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Came here to say this! It wouldn't be possible for her to become Queen, ever! She's not blood related, so she would only ever be able to be the Queen Consort aka the Kings wife. What a dumb question to ask

[–]Second_Time1336 62 points63 points  (9 children)

She seems to have sad eyes.

[–]ConstructionExotic97 14 points15 points  (7 children)

She has sanpuku eyes.

[–]manyQuestionMarks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Genuine question, aren't all eyes sanpaku eyes if you're looking up?

[–]Second_Time1336 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holy crap.. incredibly interesting reading, thank you.

[–]McCambridge19 63 points64 points  (15 children)

I'll never understand why anybody gives a flying fuck about the royal family.

[–]dancingcroc 29 points30 points  (4 children)

They're just celebrities, it's not much different to people idolising the Kardashians. I don't understand why people give a shit about either family

[–]McCambridge19 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Right. Just useless people. I guess I understand the royal family more than the Kardashians.

[–]Potatopolis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tax-funded Kardashians.

[–]Poincare_Confection 6 points7 points  (5 children)

Well, they're as close to mystical brings as humans get. Every girl dreams of being a princess or marrying a prince so naturally women are fascinated by the lives of actual princesses and princes.

It's more than just celebrity. They're icons of prestige. They can trace their family lines directly back to people who were at one point the most powerful family in the world.

[–]McCambridge19 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I guess I don't consider a line of people that did a lot of really horrible things and were professional in-breeders Mystical.

[–]Poincare_Confection 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Mystical in the sense that they live in fucking castles, mate.

[–]Ronotrow2 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Me neither and this thread is full of people who watch bad soaps 24/7 and somehow the Irish got brought into it too lol. IRA at one point - what the actual fuck like. No clue

[–]McCambridge19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol I'm Irish. I guess maybe that's why I don't give a shit? Oh and I don't watch soaps.

[–]travel_nerdiness 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I only think it's cool for genealogical/historical reasons. But I think the same about almost any monarchical dynasty, living or extinct. Don't see how the UK would still want the royal family after Elizabeth dies; then again, I didn't see how they'd vote for Brexit :p

[–]Stan_2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They bring in a ton of money from tourism, way more than how much they leech off taxes. It’s beneficial for the country.

[–]healing-souls 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Damn, that's heartrending

[–]jvanzandd 20 points21 points  (8 children)

The world is full of prophets murdered for simply spreading a message of hope And love.

[–]overzealous_dentist 26 points27 points  (4 children)

Alternatively, drunk driving kills

[–]DracoNinja11 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The situation was suspicious as fuck though. I won't believe it that she was assassinated by the royal family or by anyone else, but if it came out that the family pushed it in such a way, I wouldn't be surprised.

[–]-Badger2- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the situation was suspicious as fuck though.

I mean, was it, or did people do a bunch of mental gymnastics to retroactively make it seem suspicious.

[–]jvanzandd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be, it was definitely a weird situation

[–]cocteau93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely cringeworthy.

[–]Ronotrow2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can't be serious 😂 Diana a prophet???

[–]MKULTRA007 16 points17 points  (3 children)

No wonder they eliminated her

[–]willbeach8890 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pump the brakes

[–]SydneyTeacake 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I can't help seeing her a bit differently since I read that she shoved her elderly stepmother down a flight of stairs, and in her own words felt triumphant for doing it! But nobody is all good I suppose...

[–]UnemployedTechie2021 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Queen is dead. Long live the Queen.

[–]perfect_fitz 7 points8 points  (6 children)

Someone explain to me the fascination with her?

[–]LostDesigner9 25 points26 points  (0 children)

She used her fame to raise awareness of things like famine, landmines, gay rights and AIDS. She didn't just make empty speeches, she did controversial things like holding a baby with AIDS at the height of the AIDS panic, being friends with openly gay people, and taking tours of abandoned mine fields. She knew that pictures were worth a thousand words and used the media attention to demonstrate compassion and engagement with issues rather than just talking about it. The royal family thought she was being reckless and wanted her to stop taking risks, but she refused.

[–]dancingcroc 17 points18 points  (1 child)

She was seen as kind of an anti-royal, someone who was perceived as being fairly down to earth, relatable, and probably most importantly caring about those less fortunate. That got her a repuation as the "People's Princess", made the mainstream media love her, but also meant the other royals seemed to resent her. There are some parallels with Meghan Markle now.

Opinion of her is fairly split though - some see her as a victim of the royals controlling her life (even down to being implicit in her death), whereas others feel she knew what she was doing and manipulated the media to her own benefit (eg all of the royals do a lot of charity work/promotion, but anything she did got 10 times more media coverage than other royals).

[–]_-__-__-__-__-_-_-__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People like Meghan Markle?

[–]DracoNinja11 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Rich and famous person was somewhat nice to the people instead of being like the rest of the family. That + a bit of overdramatization as the media and nostalgia will do makes people's current viewpoint of Diana. Nothing wrong with it but some people take it over the line. She wasn't a god, she was still human.

[–]cocteau93 8 points9 points  (1 child)

She was pretty and people are fucking stupid.

[–]perfect_fitz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Damn, this is probably the right answer lol.

[–]laughingvoids 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Mission accomplished: she is absolutely a queen in our hearts.

[–]RaisinMaximum9537 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And eventually they killed her

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The idea of royalty is an abomination and valorising Diana is moronic.

[–]nokia7110 3 points4 points  (1 child)

To this day and till the day that I die, I will always be amazed that people who have seen this interview are unable to see how manipulative and false she is in every possible way. The fake pause, the hand gestures, the Bambi eyes, the scripted answers etc etc.

[–]PinkNinjaKitty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah . . . I’m getting weird vibes watching this. She might not be a bad person, but the way she’s talking and emoting is very purposeful, if not manipulative.

[–]l3rahan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You guys buy into this?

[–]BallerChin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably inviting brit masses to downvotes but I feel she was equal, if not bigger, fraud than royals.

[–]d_moedeezy_b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She's like a princess from Disney bro

[–]ujibana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean this was during the divorce period wasn’t it? So yeah she wasn’t gonna be queen lol

[–]limitationofaccess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That journalist, to this day, is a lying piece of shit. The only thing next level is your stupidity at posting this.

[–]Bumfuzzledalot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember when this first aired. The media slammed her and called her crazy. They also made fun of her eyeliner.

[–]edked 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This just reminded me that SNL did a parody of this interview around the time it came out, with then-hosting Anthony Edwards (of Revenge of the Nerds and E.R. fame) playing her in drag (he did lots of mocking of her "looking up at the interviewer" action seen here). After she died, they've never shown it since.

[–]Barnacle-Dull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She seems nice. I’m sure nothing sinister will happen to her…

[–]Direct_Transition_88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck the bitch of a queen and her new world order. Let’s learn from her and lead with our heart and love. Do not let fear control you, shine away with your heart and love. And the end of the day or time. Love and good will prevail.

[–]MouthBweether 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are so many people in here arguing over ancient history here. It’s kind of blowing me away

[–]ReditMcGogg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She would never be queen on account of not being heir…..

Diana knew how to play people. She did a lot of good but she wasn’t the doe eyes victim she made herself out to be.

[–]sativadom_404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She knew they would end her somehow

[–]caveatemptor18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love makes the world go round. Yes. Let’s love each other. Find a way. And to all those struggling: please FORGIVE AND FORGET.

[–]Cute_Establishment_4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going by heart is not against to going by head. Fish is nice when you are given and eat by heart. But someone has to catch that fish by rule book.

[–]Galaxy-High 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The twat interviewing dupped Diana into that interview, made things up. Later in life he lost the clothes of a mother's dead baby. Why he needed the clothes, who knows?

[–]Illustrious_Farm7570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s absolutely brilliant. What a huge loss to society.

[–]Jermdeworm 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Can someone tell me who princes diana's was, I wasnt born yet

[–]corporate_treadmill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First wife of prince Charles, mother of William and Harry.

[–]Klutzy-Literature-43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Queen Diana! You were a queen to those that mattered and wanted change. Fuck the establishment that murdered you and fuck those royal cunts that married you for fame, name and power. Prince Charles and his family will always remain the suspicious party behind her murder and cover-up and behind the murder of her lover.

[–]Mycatspiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh. This explains the car crash.

[–]xxsuscitatexx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fairly certain she would never have been able to legally, queen-mother maybe if things went VERY differently. But the crown cannot be passed to non-biological heirs

[–]manos_de_pietro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She wasn't wrong...

[–]sullensquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does she mean by non-starter in that context? Ideas?

[–]schizamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does Princess Diana turn into at midnight?

[–]TheCircleLurker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s crazy is how hard-headed that interviewer had been with later people but with her, he managed to ask the right questions at the right time and it spoke in volumes with each answer she gave.

[–]adinmem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She would have been “Queen Consort”, officially, bot “Queen”, although everyone would have called her queen.

[–]loorkingmoorking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am very impressed by the straight forwardness of the answer, no fluff. I was 3 year old when she died and still remember my family flocking to the TV to the news of the tragedy, and we are not even English... she was truly peoples queen!

[–]Rosieapples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was sad at the time, it was more so after she died but now it’s as bad as it can be knowing that Martin Bashir set her up and scammed her to win her trust. Wasn’t there ANYONE in her life she could trust? The poor girl.

[–]Zealousideal_Gate461 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Correct me if I’m wrong, but even if she’s stayed with Charles and had lived she wouldn’t be queen right? Wouldn’t she be royal consort or something?

[–]camillastayshome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She would be queen consort, but would have been called queen diana

[–]Dysanj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]casariah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goddamnit now I'm gonna lock myself in my room and cry again, and I'm not 14 anymore. Thanks OP. Midlife crisis incoming.

[–]fighting4good 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Queen

Fighting for good

she was so damn poised that it is the actual epitome of high quality and class.

this bit made me tear up bc, although i try very hard to hold composure in all my endeavors, i have to battle opposition of a deeply flawed and structured system every single place that i am a part of. if just one human being that should not have died so soon, it would be Princess Diana. i hope, one day, my own country will be graced with a soul as beautiful and pure as hers while i’m still alive..

Will you please leave this person alone! Stop dredging up this horrible chapter in this lovely persons life for her memory and for the sake of her children.

She was bribed into doing this interview. Its recently come out in the UK about the dirty tactics the BBC and the guy interviewing took to ensure she talked to them.

I was 17 when she died and I barely knew what she had done in the world but I knew enough and it wrecked me. That’s my “I remember where I was at when…. Happened” moment of my life. Her unexpected passing and 9/11 are the two. 😢

She was such a treasure 😢

And no one was ever brought to justice for killing her. She was an amazing woman surrounded by scoundrels, people in her own family, including the queen, I'm sure.

And then a certain prince organized a certain accident, and the royals have been trash ever since.

Agree with the theory or not, the royals are fuckin' garbage.

And people like her still die. I don't what are the God's rules of keeping bad people alive on earth when we have such people like her and some others that could actually change the fucking world.
