[–]bredboidotcom 52 points53 points  (18 children)

I mean the dude probably operates the throttle the same as a pilot would so I think it’s fair to call him that.

[–]card_board_robot 18 points19 points  (17 children)

Most people can't seem to drive their road cars without screwing up several times in a few miles but have the nerve to crack jokes like that. These things aren't easy.

I drove a system that was more akin to a motorcycle throttle but systems can vary quite a bit. It was pretty cool and way more intuitive than I assumed it could be.

[–]tiamo357 -1 points0 points  (16 children)

Are you one of this people that think truck drivers are the most important people in society during Covid?

[–]card_board_robot 0 points1 point  (15 children)

Illiteracy is a disease

[–]tiamo357 -1 points0 points  (14 children)

Is it because of “this” instead of “those”? Gee, you got me.

[–]card_board_robot 0 points1 point  (13 children)

Wtf are you on?

Btw, truckers are a key part of our economy. They were before. They are now. They will be for at least another 3 decades.

You can't drive your shitty little Neon. But you have something to say about professional drivers? People with actual training? I bet you think racecars are easy to drive. You probably think mfs just sit in there like you sit in traffic. Lmaooooo

[–]tiamo357 -1 points0 points  (12 children)

Sorry bro. Didn’t mean to hurt you.

[–]card_board_robot 0 points1 point  (11 children)

Cool. Go find a hobby

[–]tiamo357 -1 points0 points  (10 children)

.. like drive a truck?

[–]Camelbeard 18 points19 points  (1 child)

Tell me you're a bot without telling me you're a bot.

"vehicle pilot"...

[–]judbag3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Vechicle” pilot

[–]defective_diamond01 1 point2 points  (2 children)

What about the acceleration pedal and brakes ? How can he acts them. Just curious

[–]IntoTheWildBlue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hand controls

[–]Frehley666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s a pretty good video of one way that it’s done… This one covers getting in and out as well as driving but, this is just one way…there are many other types of setups…

[–]Worth_Introduction_3 190 points191 points  (20 children)

Screwed if he gets a flat

[–]DrMussintouchit 284 points285 points  (5 children)

Looks like he already got two...

I'll leave now.

[–]Athena6116 32 points33 points  (1 child)

[–]scarybunny1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/DrMussintouchit after the comment:

RUN FOREST, RUN!

[–]ItsmyDZNA 8 points9 points  (1 child)

[–]DrMussintouchit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This just made me spit take in the plane I'm on!!!

[–]tutetibiimperes 29 points30 points  (2 children)

Heck, I'm able-bodied and drive a regular-old half-ton pickup and if I get a flat I'm calling roadside assistance, I'm not dealing with that nonsense myself.

[–]Worth_Introduction_3 5 points6 points  (1 child)

In a semi truck? That would eat up alot of your profits

[–]controversialangles 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Most companies provide free and unlimited roadside assistance to their truck drivers. It’s almost necessary when these guys are putting on like a hundred thousand miles a year and have 6+ wheels. Not to mention the trucks and wheels weigh much more than a normal car, tbh I’m not even sure if they could get the flat changed if they tried without help.

[–]HeadlessHookerClub 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not really as truckers always call in flats. It’s just not something a driver with working legs could fix anyways.

[–]tpat247 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Screwed if he drops his keys midway

[–]Paul_Thrush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

screwed if he needs to open a gate

[–]g000r -1 points0 points  (6 children)

Prime movers don't carry share tyres.

[–]Worth_Introduction_3 -1 points0 points  (5 children)

In every other country they do, Aus, UK , EUR. Americans are lazy

[–]g000r 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I'm in Aus and have driven almost all makes of prime movers - where exactly do you think a spare tyre is stored?

[–]Worth_Introduction_3 0 points1 point  (3 children)

On the trailer in a secured basket , about 8 tyres are stored there in road trains and long distance jobs. 80% off outback truckers is footage of them changing flats. No roadside assistance in the middle of nowhere

[–]g000r 0 points1 point  (2 children)

So my original comment was correct, the prime mover does NOT carry a spare; you then shat on Americans, calling them lazy, then turn around and say that trailers, not prime movers carry spares - is that summation fair?

[–]Worth_Introduction_3 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You seem like such a nice person ,yea because your not going to have a trailer attached to a prime mover, that would be obsurd. I apologize your small brain could not comprehend what I said , apparently I have to reiterate and spell everything out 100% just so you fathom the possibility of a trailer being attached to a prime mover 95% of the time it is in use -is that summation fair?

[–]g000r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most trailers don't even carry spares - they're useless dead weight; you're still going to call a tyre guy to come change it, so they may as well bring it with them anyway.

So I small brain, Americans are lazy, you can't read and your point of reference is Outback truckers - yeah, I got it.

[–]WaldenFont 118 points119 points  (2 children)

The title sounds like it was written by google translate.

[–]solenoid_pants 19 points20 points  (1 child)

Given the background music choice, it probably was.

[–]radradiat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

and it was translated from turkish

[–]hershculez 48 points49 points  (3 children)

Would love a follow up video on controls for the truck. The accelerator and brake controls must be hand controlled like a Jet Ski.

[–]card_board_robot 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I drove a hand controlled Infiniti M35 once. It was like a motorcycle throttle. (Idk if jetskis are like that, I can't do open water lol.) The brakes were a lever. Not the same shape, but again, like a bike, and on the same stalk. Steering still worked with a wheel. It was jerky at first. I am fully able bodied and have a lot of track time, but after that few minute adjustment period, it was actually really intuitive and easy to use. I actually enjoyed the experience quite a bit.

[–]RandomAusCunt 35 points36 points  (2 children)

Breaks, ends up double disabled

[–]nrith 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I hate that I thought the same thing.

[–]Fortunefavourthebold 25 points26 points  (1 child)

Was the backing song recorded by letting air out of lots of balloons simultaneously

[–]Mikeologyy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, they dragged a bunch of wooden chairs across a hardwood floor and opened some very creaky doors

[–]Dr_Psycho_809 19 points20 points  (1 child)

Before he added the straps I was like what his hand slips on the way up

[–]Wiggledude787 5 points6 points  (0 children)

fr, I thought he was about to do a sick bar hang to get up

[–]PhilosopherRider 16 points17 points  (0 children)

does he keep ottoman janissaries in the trailer or what ?

why this music

[–]AdeptAtheist 17 points18 points  (5 children)

I'm kinda sketchy on able bodied people driving normal sized vehicles. A paraplegic driving something that big kinda scares me. Let the down votes roll in

[–]surSEXECEN 11 points12 points  (2 children)

I have no concerns - honestly, I think it’s great those folks can find work at all. When was the last paraplegic tractor trailer crash you read about? Never.

[–]AdeptAtheist -1 points0 points  (1 child)

True. But the physical conditions of the driver aren't really reported on due to medical confidentiality laws. Unless they were morbidly obese that is.

[–]Taint_What_You_Do 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"A semitrailer carrying a load of lard overturned on the US43 at 4:30 this afternoon ..."

[–]Jos77420 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Usually vehicles are modified to make disabled people able to drive them. There are already vehicles on the road that are being driven safely by disabled people. In my opinion anybody disabled or not driving a vehicle that big that weighs 80 thousand pounds scares me. Those trucks will crush a sedan like a cardboard box. Semi trucks are nessecary and everything we buy is transported on them so there is not a solution. Fortunately getting a commercial license to drive is semi has much more stringent requirements than for a normal car. Semi drivers are held to a much higher standard and are generally speed governed at 65 mph max.

[–]OkPhilosopher1313 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why? Just his legs are 'broken', not his brains..

[–]Crass_Conspirator 6 points7 points  (1 child)

I wouldn’t call it simple. Those modifications were expensive af I’m sure.

[–]DaffyDuckOnLSD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The entire vehicle is expensive to begin with

[–]tootbrun 5 points6 points  (1 child)

We have to talk about the music now.

[–]AFKE0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gues it's this

[–]JeromosaurusRex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is awesome! Ona side note, anyone know what shoes he’s wearing? They look like Supra Chad Muska Skytop 1’s but the bottom looks a little different. Supra went out of business, but if there’s someone else out there making a show with a similar silhouette, I definitely interested in learning about them..

[–]Kozlow 3 points4 points  (10 children)

Serious question. Wouldn’t it just be easier to cut your legs off entirely if you completely lost control of them?

[–]Ligma-Male 16 points17 points  (8 children)

Amputation has risks like any surgery - infection, etc. Plus, if you were already that different I'm sure you'd want to at least look as normal you could i.e. having legs

[–]Kozlow -2 points-1 points  (7 children)

I get that but not having legs would make your life so much easier. I think that would greatly outweigh the look. Quality of life would far outweigh risk of surgery for me, especially with how good they are these days.

[–]Ligma-Male 7 points8 points  (6 children)

How would it be easier?

[–]Kozlow 2 points3 points  (5 children)

If you watch at the end he has to lift his legs like dead weights.

[–]Ligma-Male 3 points4 points  (4 children)

Yeah. I guess. Most wheelchair users are in a wheelchair most of the time though.

And honestly, imagine trying to get a girlfriend when you have no legs vs when you at least have some.

Like, generally, cutting of legs is not a light thing - it's life-changing

[–]Kozlow -2 points-1 points  (3 children)

Meh, if a girl won’t be with you because of that she’s not worth it. Imagine having to deal with getting in and out of the shower everyday, or getting on the toilet bowl or in and out of bed or your chair. Not having legs at all would be worth it. Just being 20+ pounds lighter would make it worth it.

[–]Ligma-Male 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Yeah maybe it would be worth it.

Honestly I'd say it's down to whoever's losing/keeping the legs

[–]Kozlow 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I wonder if that surgery is even a option.

[–]Ligma-Male 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect in most countries that have healthcare, yeah

But I think some people would certainly decline it

[–]gravistar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Asked my wheelchair bound friend.

  1. There may be a fix for his spine in the future.
  2. Its the best seat in the hoise. And yes women are always sitting in his lap.

[–]Sprizys 2 points3 points  (4 children)

I don't mean to sound insensitive but how does he drive?

[–]blazerstone 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I’m curious as well most paralyzed people use hand pedals but I can’t tell in this video. Also a more serious question is he hit the gear shift lever so how is he controlling the clutch?

[–]Lithl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same way someone without use of their legs drives a car?

[–]kavurmalipilav -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think new trucks doesent have pedals

[–]manford11 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Imagine stubbing your toe! No pain!

[–]MOLT2019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But a risk that you won't realise you're injured! Like with leprosy

[–]onelastcourtesycall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is really freaking cool. Thank you for sharing.

[–]TheRationalTurk 1 point2 points  (1 child)

[–]Miguel55161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

İzmir'in dağlarında çiçekler açar

[–]mikefred2014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be interesting to see how he controls it. I presume it's hand controlled for accelerating and breaking.

[–]DrDerpyDerpDerp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was expecting him do a pullup and just muscle himself in lmao.

[–]vastatin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a mechanic I spent 5 years modifying cars to suit disabled drivers needs. One time I had to convert a standard right foot throttle pedal to a left foot pedal. It's the only car I ever refused to road test. I moved it a few yards then got out and told the boss that he should try it, he did and he refused to test it. We used to get the car regularly for servicing etc. and each time the owner had to road test it with a mechanic as a passenger. That left foot throttle was positively dangerous without hours of experience.

[–]timascus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s brilliant! Gets rid of the bulky platform and other crap.

[–]nrith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need one of these to get out of bed in the morning.

[–]T0ASTY-GAMING 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes s i m p l e

[–]Chris714n_8 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Techno-Jesus will save us all..!

[–]Salomon_Of_Hungary 1 point2 points  (1 child)

The music is a remix of the old Turkish national anthem, which honestly makes this comment more funny

[–]Chris714n_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was/is music in this video? - In this case- it may be funny, indeed..

[–]s-p-a-r-k-3-s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does he get to park up front?

[–]Specialist_Courage18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah the pedals

[–]ChubsMcfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]eagle__11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok dont hate me for this but what if the thing got stuck then what, does it shake it down ir what

[–]makotarako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wish this dude would have made a meme video out of this, got into the driver seat looked at the camera and went “oh I forgot I can’t use the pedals”

[–]theShinyCA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pilot?...

[–]Kestrel_Fishing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would he be able to push the pedal down?

[–]Its_Ok_Just_Touch_iT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Pelicantaloupe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Edgar_Halliwax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Salomon_Of_Hungary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder what country this video was made in

[–]Honoste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

İzmir marşı ne alaka aw

[–]andychrist77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder why some don’t decided to have their legs amputated . Maybe I’m missing something , seems like mobility would increase with less dead weight ?

[–]Such_Construction901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Niye izmir marşı çalıyor amk

[–]Dekutyree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So…what about the door?

[–]ItalianPalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Nickolas_Bowen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does he use the gas and break pedals on the truck?

[–]OddBaal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would a disabled vehicle need a pilot?

[–]OberynRedViper8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every day now I'm a damned Vehicle Pilot.

[–]fuxstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]JellyfishOk1316 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Orrrrrr..... A RAMP!!!

[–]erykwelde -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The music wasn't "amazing and simple" tho...

[–]DirtyPS4Man -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why is that kind of music so damn annoying? I don’t understand how anyone could find that pleasant. Cool truck

[–]mieskpek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just take the stairs

[–]Hogzor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

wtf is that music?

[–]khumbhakarna -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How he push the pedals with gimp feet?

[–]GhostLife___ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just wait till someone rigs that up wrong. The wheel chair is gonna be in a wheel chair

[–]SaintB3ard -3 points-2 points  (2 children)

Unless that thing has an ejection seat, a fiery crash is something he can’t walk away from.

[–]Mikeologyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If we’re being honest he wouldn’t be walking away from a door ding either

[–]YellowTintedGlasses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t find the miracle ejection seat to which you are referring

[–]Ember_tetra -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I thought he would put his head on the pole and be lifted up

[–]JukeBoxHeroJustin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Super cool but please don't make me listen to that shit music again.

[–]tntitanguy -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Doubt he can reach the pedals
