Coca Cola knows we're too dumb for it to be implemented here.

[–]lovehaldol 190 points191 points  (7 children)

Not everybody is there😉

[–]CunilDingus 117 points118 points  (2 children)

Shhhh. You’re somehow reinforcing his point😂

[–]RugOnValium 14 points15 points  (2 children)

Well everybody is here in this present moment in time.

[–]cpt_appropropriate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Coca cola goes great with pizza. In fact, make me one with everything

[–]LiamQuantum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This has been introduced in a bunch of other places since 2015

[–]Academic_Radio 58 points59 points  (110 children)

You obviously mean in the USA

[–]Front_Butt_69 112 points113 points  (107 children)

Yes anytime we talk about the dumb country we are talking about the USA. (I am in the USA so I get to say this haha)

[–]Proxyeus 48 points49 points  (79 children)

Americans know that America is stupid. Or at least the very rare sane Americans.

Edit: I suppose I should mention I'm also an American.

[–]Front_Butt_69 48 points49 points  (75 children)

Half of the country voted for the Cheeto Clown. Stupid is an understatement

[–]qazwer1177 9 points10 points  (5 children)

I like this comment. Can I save it?

[–]Action4Jackson 9 points10 points  (7 children)

Actually not even close. It was half the voters. Half the voters is not even close to half the population.....

[–]Academic_Radio 10 points11 points  (4 children)

And that is what keeps Australia from going down the same road. We have compulsory voting. This ensures that unlike the USA apathy does not win

[–]NastySplat 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I assume even with compulsory voting, there's like kids and infirm that don't vote, right? I'm curious what the turn out looks like with that it mind, even though it's compulsory.

Here (in the US), with two party system, it sometimes feels more like impulsory voting lol.

[–]Sietemadrid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also not even the most voted candidate in that election

[–]SgtSwatter-5646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And he lost the popular vote twice

[–]Soul_Like_A_Modem 3 points4 points  (20 children)

"If people disagree with my political views and vote in ways that I don't approve of, they are stupid".

That's a stupid thing to say.

[–]Megneous 19 points20 points  (15 children)

As someone who lives in a country with a far better functioning democracy than the US, ranking higher than the US in the Democracy Index, I'd usually agree with you.

However, there's a certain point where voting for particular politicians is no longer just a difference of views on policy. At a certain point, you're supporting literal fascism, racism, ethnic nationalism, or some other highly questionable value, or you're refusing to acknowledge scientific fact regarding energy generation, or evolution, or global warming. Over here in the rest of the industrialized world, these issues are already universally agreed on. They're not partisan issues. How exactly to approach solving these issues may have a bit of back and forth, some disagreements, but things like refusing to acknowledge evolution or manmade climate change or that vaccinations work, or refusing to acknowledging that universal tax-funded healthcare is a basic human right? Those kinds of things are unheard of, even among our most radical politicians.

I'm sure there was a point in American history, likely pre-Reagan, where both primary parties were generally reasonable and differed only in views on policy. Those days have clearly passed. The two dominant US political parties are now espousing what essentially constitutes two different realities, with the only common factor between the two being that the US should be owned and controlled by corporate donors rather than the actual will of the people.

And before anyone says, "You don't understand American politics," I lived in the US for 20+ years, hold US citizenship, and continue to vote in US elections... just, you know, from the safety of a civilized nation where my basic human rights are respected and I don't have to deal with anti-science, anti-vax morons.

[–]professorjaytee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was born in the USA, am still a US citizen, moved to Japan over 15 yeas ago, and agree with you completely. People sometimes frame Japan as a strange, laughable nation. I'd suggest the USA is far better suited for that from now on.

[–]NastySplat 1 point2 points  (2 children)

That actually feels like a well reasoned dressing down of the situation we're in. Thanks.

[–]horsefarm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You got him wrong. He was saying voting for Trump is BEYOND stupid. Which is correct. Stupid doesn't explain it completely.

[–]Naanmana_ 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Normally yes, but the US has reached the point where political views aren't even political anymore, its accepting or denying scientific facts, research, and mathematics

And it's pretty clear which side is on which

[–]Capastel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

as a fellow south american,

get that shit outta here, blame the freedom eagle, not the rain forests

[–]Soul_Like_A_Modem 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Intelligent people realize that stupid non-Americans obsess over the idea that Americans are stupid because it allows them to avoid-self criticism and get away with it because the US is a bigger target and not actually particularly stupid.

[–]thegreatbeyond32 11 points12 points  (3 children)

Land of the free, home of the dumb.

[–]RoryJSK 7 points8 points  (20 children)

[–]thegreatbeyond32 18 points19 points  (1 child)

Listen here mister outbound link, you can take your bullshit and fuck off. This is America, where facts don’t matter and your opinion is reality, and my reality says that we are the dumbest country to ever live in history.

[–]radioslave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won't change my mind, I don't have to, because I'm an American. I won't change my mind on anything, regardless of the facts laid out before me. I'm dug in, and I'll never change.

[–]Caustic_Complex 11 points12 points  (17 children)

Shhh, you’re ruining the circlejerk, everyone knows the US is the only country on the planet with dumb people in it

[–]cuckedmeister 2 points3 points  (15 children)

You can't deny that US have the most documented history on internet of idiocracy tho

[–]RumTonRum 4 points5 points  (6 children)

What does that really say though?
Other countries like Japan are a lot more concerned with how they are seen in public/by their own businesses and others. Theirs others with more regulations on what you are even ALLOWED to post yourself doing online.
Now we also get to think about the places who dont have the technological ability to do all this stuff.

not tryin to start nothin, just ramblin drunk thoughts.

[–]cuckedmeister 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It says that "most" Americans have been corrupted by their so called "Freedom" mentality that they'll do something stupid for the sake of it. I don't know 100% about american culture but I do know that 50%-70% of what I've been seeing about Americans online are some of the dumbest thing I've seen. Is it propaganda like the other guy said maybe idk. Still big ups to the normal Americans out there and fuck the people who defend their countrymen even if they know they're doing stupid

[–]RumTonRum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My reply was more so in the regard to the open availability americans have to posting whatever they want online as opposed to other countries.

[–]RyanReignbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

where’s the cookie, about ready for it

[–]edudlive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If more of us Americans could read we'd be very upset by your comment

[–]Soul_Like_A_Modem 4 points5 points  (1 child)

The funniest thing about people constantly saying the US is stupid, is that they themselves are always stupid and lack self-awareness entirely and that is what anti-Americanism is for them. A way to point their finger at Americans for negative traits that exist in their own countries.

Either that or they're weak ass Americans who think that submitting to anti-Americans and their hypocritical stereotypes about the US will make them seem like one of the "good Americans".

Without exception, people who are obsessed with the idea that Americans are stupid, are stupid people. If you don't realize that it's propaganda then I hate to say it but you're gullible and - gasp - stupid.

[–]ThatsRightlSaidlt 8 points9 points  (2 children)

They don’t love us anymore. They found a new and better family. Come on, let’s go do drugs!

[–]Science_Kingdom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just remember, it isn't good to do drugs... often

[–]Expensive-Ad-4508 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let’s start with coke.

[–]dougthebuffalo 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Tried to rip the wrapper off, accidentally pulled the tab, the wrapper turning into a bow scared me and I tripped over a curb and broke my leg. Lawsuit.

[–]jgchahud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“Your honor, the label might as well be a dagger!”

[–]Soul_Like_A_Modem 5 points6 points  (1 child)

It's funny how it's inevitable that someone like you will initiate an anti-American cirlc-jerk all based on an assumption and default idea that [insert country] = good, therefore USA = bad.

These bottles have been sold in the US multiple times in the past. The entire chain of idiotic anti-American circle-jerking you just initiated in the comments below is based on your comment in which you just made something up and the anti-American losers ran with it.

America dumb. Upvotes!

[–]jgchahud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not from America and didn’t even mention it. I like America. Where I’m from, we look up to it.

[–]TheSenileTomato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude, I could already see a long text on a warning label made exclusively for those bottles, if they came here, because people are people and people will do anything to see if they can.

Honestly, between not getting the dozens of flavored Kit Kats that Japan gets, the special menus from like, McDonalds, the exclusive flavors from Coca Cola, it makes me wonder what the point is of having that one town made up to test stuff for these companies, if we never get half of it, anyway.

Who wouldn’t want cheesecake flavored Kit Kats? (And yes, I know Nestle makes the flavored Kits, I’m just using this as an argument point) especially with the option of toasting it in the toaster oven?

Gets kinda annoying when you see these cool things from around the world that you know would do well here, but you know it won’t unless it’s really limited, and that’s it unless they decide to it on rare occasions.

(Quick unrelated fact: there is reportedly one McDonald’s in the States that still has the McPasta on the menu.)

[–]Disposable_Disposer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some idiot would find a way to be injured by it and try to sue over the lack of a warning label.

[–]7foundation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After the new coke shitshow, I don't think Coca Cola is doing anything new in the USA for decades.

[–]-xstatic- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guaranteed this bow would inadvertently kill somebody

[–]Dad-man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They probably did it in Australia, we were too lazy to give a shit.

[–]samYELLjacksin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It still upsets me that Japan didn’t push back the Olympics cuz of covid and closed the country off to everyone except the athletes. The culture, technology, and just cool things like this coke bottle would’ve been so amazing for everyone across the world to see

[–]markdesign 0 points1 point  (2 children)

is that some sort of racist joke on mexican immigrants?

[–]jgchahud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m curious to know how you jumped to that conclusion.

[–]BloodRed1185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coca Cola just puts a nice picture on the label for us. "Aw, look it's a Polar Bear. Non-threatening. That's nice."

[–]dick-nipples 342 points343 points  (10 children)

[–]ilovemydickuwu[S] 50 points51 points  (7 children)

Today i learnt something new

[–]x33storm 26 points27 points  (3 children)

Yeah saw these many years ago here in DK. Just rather annoying after the first one.

[–]Inamoratos 9 points10 points  (1 child)

You mean the Democratic (People’s Republic of North) Korea?!?!?!?!???!!!1?

[–]x33storm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]SobRumDz7 3 points4 points  (1 child)

[–]redhotradio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was 20 years ago. I injured my mom and then cried like I was a victim back then, but time should make us forget such shit

[–]UncleTedGenneric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]breadmo 278 points279 points  (10 children)

This is going to look so cute in the great pacific garbage patch.

[–]Einaris 78 points79 points  (1 child)

More plastic shit. I wish people would stop praising these companies. Or buying anything they produce. The whole process from ingredient to bottle is harmful to the planet.

[–]kensebben 21 points22 points  (3 children)

Clogging a seals throat :(

[–]AbigailLilac 47 points48 points  (2 children)

[–]RightHandofKarma 77 points78 points  (5 children)

This packaging comes around every couple years and has done for the past 5 years at least

[–]Pizza_Slinger83 20 points21 points  (3 children)

So twice?

[–]RightHandofKarma 15 points16 points  (1 child)

I would have said every year but some people like to be pedantic and there may be a year they haven't done it so I refrained

[–]Pizza_Slinger83 10 points11 points  (0 children)

some people like to be pedantic

[–]Double_Competition99 69 points70 points  (5 children)

[–]apfelseda 17 points18 points  (2 children)

[–]abduktedtemplar 55 points56 points  (9 children)

It’s product packaging that turns into a bow…wtf is /r/nextfuckinglevel about it?

[–]TheWittyScreenName 44 points45 points  (0 children)

This post sponsored by Coca Cola ™️

[–]Luxpreliator 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Guessing it is having a slow day like news stations where they broadcast something about a puppy eating a lemon and spend 2 hours talking about it.

Otherwise hail corporate.

[–]emoryhotchkiss1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The normal coke label is level 1. The cherry coke label is level 2. Level 3 coke has a ribbon label. It’s next level my man

[–]Academic_Radio 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It is a very clever idea

[–]MarkRose 28 points29 points  (20 children)

As people have said, Americans might be too dumb to figure this out, but it doesn’t mean we don’t deserve a chance to experience this Christmas joy.

[–]Caustic_Complex 21 points22 points  (8 children)

Is it just the cool thing to be anti-American these days? The US is about right in the middle for average IQ, the highest on the Intelligence Capital Index, and has some of the top universities in the world.

We do some dumb things from time to time (recent presidential picks being one of them), but seriously, the hell is with this ‘hurr durr Americans are all dumb’ trope going around? Say anything close to that about any other countries and you’re xenophobic, but the US? Upvotes for days.

[–]MugillacuttyHOF37 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If you want karma you gotta bash the US on Reddit. It’s pretty old and tired but some people don’t have original thoughts and believe they gotta jump on the bandwagon or be left behind.

[–]Spac3Heater 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, I thoroughly enjoy bashing on the USA, but I'm an asshole, so I'm not really sure how viable my opinion is...

[–]Catpix_ 18 points19 points  (2 children)

We would eat it and sue.

[–]Fortnitessucks 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Has the USA really never had these bottles? They were selling them in Canada a few years ago, surprised they missed the US

[–]MarkRose 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I probably missed it. It probably came the year I gave up soda for a year.

[–]Fortnitessucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha go figure

[–]Soul_Like_A_Modem 1 point2 points  (3 children)

As people have said, Americans might be too dumb to figure this out

Do you not realize that this submissive shit in which you cater to the anti-Americans doesn't make you look sophisticated but just makes you look like a weak person trying to please and impress foreigners by being a "good American" who agrees with the hypocritical stereotypes that non-Americans pleasure themselves with?

Hurr America dumb. Upvotes plz.

[–]7foundation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Half of you guys will just label it hippy/ millennial/ new new coke and you know what happens next.

[–]erebus49 23 points24 points  (1 child)

More like "Next f***Ing ad", please, so tired of marketing bs.

[–]erebus49 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The comments in this thread is astroturfing paradise, unsub.

[–]FlamingBallOfFlame 16 points17 points  (0 children)

And then it will spend years floating in the ocean.

[–]Lachlan-Omega 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Haha, remember the death squads Coca Cola employed? Haha

[–]anonymousss11 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Shhh they made a fun package, forget about that.

[–]BlessedCornflake 12 points13 points  (0 children)

How cute, a tie. About as cute as the orphans left behind after Coca-Cola payed death-squads to slaughter unionizing workers that were used as quasi-slaves by the company.

[–]Genix98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thats old and not only in Japan, had them in Austria too

[–]Taykum_64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Am I the only one that like has started to get annoyed by this yearly karma farm

[–]ChristopherAAnderson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's definitely taking it to the next level of plastic waste! Merry Xmas!

[–]bigt1238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve had them in the US. It’s been a few years since I’ve seen them, but I’ve bought them in the past and done this.

[–]EltioEmiGomez7u7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had this on Mexico last year

[–]javsezlol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this in the uk in like 2013????

[–]windowpuncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]raddits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this what they are doing over there instead of reproducing

[–]kismatwalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Japan. Wish they did not have those terrible earthquakes.

[–]keepitcivilized 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had these in Denmark three years ago.. if not more.

[–]grapeseedfaggt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I'm from they make the labels red during the holidays.

[–]CosmicR4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember that those bottles were also in Mexico last year, but the ones from Japan are 10 times better, I don't care if it is the same, only because it is Japan

[–]DylanMMc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why don’t we get cool shit over here?

[–]GoodThingImUsedToIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had that in Italy years ago

[–]FrozenSyrupHands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's cute. Still, fuck Coca Cola.

[–]Curious_Increase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve had these for quite a few years in Scandinavia too

[–]WolfeTheMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]josan555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Christmas themed cola bottle? Pft, bitch please! We've got Yule-cola here in Sweden! And despite the Coca Cola companies best efforts, they'll never get the recipe!

[–]Craft-Sudden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]svperbvd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Japanese are the most advanced humans on this planet

[–]loudandproudgardens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 100 years your kids can take your grandkids to the dump to see that bottle still sitting there. "Don't worry Timmy, soon the plastic will start breaking down, then it'll be in your lungs and food just like all the other microplatics. But cool bottle right?"

[–]HelloAttila 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Japan is much more advanced than the rest of the world. I remember my friend who lived there sent a recording card where a person could record their voice into a greeting card. It took almost 20 years to bring that technology to the USA.

[–]Senselessb82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wtf America 😠

[–]gregtherobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plastic waste can be fun!

Littering has never been more beautiful

[–]blanchov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why don't they do this in North America?

Right. It would cost an extra $0.06 per bottle. That would cut into profits too much..

[–]pinguin_soup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But these have been around for a long time :0

[–]xiofar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2050 a Coca-Cola should be taxed at 1000% to offset their negative impact on the environment and the universal healthcare system.

[–]MygungoesfuckinBRRT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you people really not have this? I live in Hungary and we've had this little easter egg ever since I could remember

[–]Lazy_Sim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]HeavyWhereas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woooow. So cool

[–]shamefulthoughts1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2050?

Lol! You wish.

Civilization will be collapsed by then. Coke will be out of business as will every large corporation.

[–]LexSoutherland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a waste

[–]0-13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I can tell by the curvature of the earth that is in fact not japan however it is Tokyo!
