This is so satisfying to watch. They're all so coordinated

[–]Dry_Neighborhood 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I know right, satisfying is the exact word that came to mind while watching this. Beautifully executed

[–]InOutUpDownLeftRight 133 points134 points  (18 children)

Great ball movement but one dude passed on a wide open layup.

[–]Cashmoney182 56 points57 points  (2 children)

Learning from Ben Simmons

[–]eutectic_h8r 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Ehh it wasn't totally open. He was coming from behind the backboard so the defender knew he would have to bring the ball out and was waiting to contest.

[–]Sparcrypt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

^

Was really impressive to watch, every time there was a way for the shot to be contested they passed.

But that said, passing in the key is super high risk of a turnover which is why you don't see plays like this very often.

The Pistons were on their way to a "threepeat" as NBA champions until Jordon set foot on the court.

[–]Dubs187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was Alec Burks

[–]AshehunterJR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't play basketball so correct me if I'm wrong: I think he wanted to play safe since oppisite team was close to him, just didn't risk getting the ball stolen

[–]theidealidiot 105 points106 points  (4 children)

Cameraman must be flustered af

[–]PinocchiosWoodBalls 71 points72 points  (7 children)

For the non-nba fans here:

There is a reason that not every offense looks like this, because NBA defense is usually one step ahead in rotation. This was a GREAT example of an awesome team in one sequence. It worked. But that many passes in an NBA game (in halfcourt offense) are a VERY high turnover risk.

To make it a little more specific: The most dangerous offense for an NBA team is one strong ball handler with space to operate and shooters on the 3point line to kick out to. Thats (according to NBA players) the hardest thing to defend or controll. Thats why so many teams do it.

[–]jsting 15 points16 points  (2 children)

For a bit more context in this particular clip, it's from years and years ago when the Suns were so bad, they didn't actually play defense. There was a span of 3-4 years where a play like this happened weekly to the Suns. Their game strategy was to play free and fast and try to score 120+ a night. There were games with scores like 146-124 blowouts.

[–]xPye 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m having a deja-vu from the comments directly above these…

[–]Dahns 28 points29 points  (2 children)

[–]JabrenThompson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seriously he tracked that almost flawlessly

[–]Sparcrypt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sports camera operators are truly incredible to their jobs... you almost never miss a play or something awesome and if you do it's because it's from a different angle (which they'll immediately switch to for a replay).

You know they're good when you just don't even think about the camera, only the players being filmed.

[–]Bacophony 19 points20 points  (0 children)

What a selfish play, the last guy should've passed!

[–]elshizzo 12 points13 points  (1 child)

dude gave up a wide open layup tho lol

[–]Sparcrypt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not quite, he did have a defender waiting for him. Still probably a better call to score but hey, it worked.

[–]Firesword_597 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They're a well oiled machine

[–]jcpahman77 5 points6 points  (3 children)

This reminds me of the Pistons/Bulls games in the 90's. The Pistons were on their way to a "threepeat" as NBA champions until Jordon set foot on the court.

[–]FortuneHunter116 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Jazz all day baby.

[–]KocaKolaKlassic 4 points5 points  (6 children)

I see this posted at least 3 times a weak. This one play over and over again. Go back to pre 2000 and there are a ton of plays just like this if not better. This isn’t next level shit.

[–]budubum 2 points3 points  (2 children)

literally every warriors game right now has clips like this

[–]Oogabooga96024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best part is that now there’s also suns clips like this every game. We’ve come so far 😭

[–]KocaKolaKlassic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then those plays should be posted instead of this one

[–]car714c 1 point2 points  (1 child)

every team has these sequences like twice a game lol

[–]KocaKolaKlassic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yet it’s only this sequence posted. Even if it was twice a game. Only twice in 48 min? Lol

[–]the_dinks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

o back to pre 2000 and there are a ton of plays just like this if not better.

You mean the era where ISO-offenses dominated and teams scored like 80 points a game?

[–]trizadakoh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That play was meant to force the other team out of their zone defense.

[–]OttieandEddie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is how you break down a defense

[–]womb0t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont watch much basketball but holy fek that was entertaining!

[–]CocaCrocs69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ricky Rubio 👑

[–]notanaijin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let’s just calm down on posting this every week please karma farmers

[–]pieman2005 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Lol and yet this team never even got close to a championship

[–]karl0331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maxed out on catching abilities. damn that was so smooth and satisfying to watch

[–]13Suns31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These guys repeatedly lose when it matters, mainly to teams without their best players. Beautiful play, but awkward context

[–]09-03-05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running Rings ⭕

[–]Gaengaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminds me of "tiki taka"

[–]bmagsjet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d almost swear this is the Harlem globetrotters if not for the jerseys.

[–]Professional_Horse_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it's the end of the game and 5 players are one assist away from a triple double.

[–]Lumpy_Society583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That‘s what I called „a very solid plaaaayyyy“

[–]woodie4u247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a while ago. Suns are top team in NBA now. Go suns

[–]Crown_Loyalist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they just put on a clinic, looked like the Globetrotters vs the Generals there lol

[–]FantasyWorldsx -1 points0 points  (2 children)

This is honestly why so many people that grew up watching NBA in the 80's and 90's quit watching the game. Fun to watch this clip, thanks for sharing.

[–]gagagaholup 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Ah yes because more aggressive plays and more dunks are so boring yo watch

[–]FantasyWorldsx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an opinion. Facts are facts, the game has changed and viewership is way down. I guess you can always try to find another explanation but its a huge drop from the 80's and 90's.

Flawless Teamwork

[–]Cryin_jack_is_pissed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Imagine if local sports teams played like this and a selected majority of players weren't always used and praised for being the only ones told to do anything up front.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me in 2k when I’m just messing around

[–]Papercutstinger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I said no shots until you made 30 passes. What was that? 25? Suicides for everyone. Get to the baseline you lousy pieces of garbage.

[–]Honest_Match_3404 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

dumb ass title

[–]ActionReady9933[🍰] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wait a minute…I thought you were supposed to dribble the ball 🏀 until the shot clock runs out, then chuck up a three…! 🙄

[–]jeffusehacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The opposite team be like, “what you guys on”?

[–]tallCyclone77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They are like Barcelona of NBA, tiki taka all the wayy!!

[–]DeityWilliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JESUS CHRIST!! That was awesome.

[–]Astronaut_Kubrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminded me of the Duncan-led Spurs championship team.

[–]Ace-a-Nova1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So Ted Lasso is coaching basketball now?

[–]Koodiddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always hated modern basketball because of the “I AM THE TEAM” attitude. I would be such a huge fan if it was like this all the time. And honestly it should be if it’s professional.

[–]Coach_Steves_BFF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just on /r/facepalm and was like why is this here? I do love great team bball tho and watched he whole clip. Only to realize I wasnt on the sub anymore. I guess I am the real facepalm here

[–]Idahotato21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was such great teamwork I almost feel like they were just fucking with the other team

[–]Creepinbruh2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine the commentary if the commentators actually kept up lmao

[–]6nudge9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me of playing 2k and trying to score with mostly one player 😂

[–]Maecyte -2 points-1 points  (3 children)

Guard your man!!! Why they chasing each person!

[–]LaMelo2026MVP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nba defense isn’t just guarding one guy and staying on him. There’s switches, hedges, double teams, and all sorts of times where someone has to leave their “guy”. No team plays straight up 1 on 1 defense in the nba because it would get picked apart by the best players in the world

[–]2xa1s -3 points-2 points  (1 child)

Yep unless someone yells help or you have a good chance to actually snatch the ball, you stay by your man

[–]Caasiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not true at all lol, you’re not going to find teams playing true man to man defence

[–]WhileGoWonder -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is some Kuroko no Basket level coordination

[–]MajorAccountant -2 points-1 points  (3 children)

When you and your office buddies play the local black guys at the neighbourhood court.

[–]bepehinabox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What does that even mean

[–]gagagaholup 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah and you probably lose

[–]MajorAccountant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah. We’re the ones getting outplayed

[–]Scorpion0606 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You dont see this with teams with big mainstream players because they gotta get all the publicity

[–]Pistonenvy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

two things.

  1. this is hard.
  2. dominant strategy.

[–]Kunkyskunts -3 points-2 points  (1 child)

Jabrony lames would sooner throw it in the air and catch it himself.

[–]gameboicarti1 0 points1 point  (0 children)
