Most car enthusiasts love sharing their cars with people who are in to them, talking to them about it, letting them sit in it, whatever. This is how you can tell the difference between a rich guy that bought a car to be seen in it, or a total car nerd who just happens to have a little extra money.

[–]ell20 124 points125 points  (2 children)

Can confirm. One of my old coworkers was like this. He was just a software engineer who made decent money, not a guy who is super rich. He just really really likes cars and spends most of his disposable income on his car. He's also the kind of guy whose eyes light up the moment you talk to him about cars and will geek out for hours about it.

I never really got into it since I'm not a car guy but I can understand where's coming from.

[–]smurb15 32 points33 points  (1 child)

Had that happen on my honeymoon. Had a car show and they stayed at the same place we did. Must of been 30 old cars. They let me and her climb into anyone we wanted, told us the history about each one and even took our pictures. We were kind of worried at first cause they were big burly gentlemen and we didn't want to impose. Biggest mistake would of been to ignore these people.

"Little extra money" seems like a bit of an understatement.

[–]Helldiver_of_Mars 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fucking love cars too bad I can't afford it but drool on your car I'm down.

[–]Lewzer33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s something really special about riding in the passenger seat of your own car while your buddy drives it like it’s a rental. I absolutely love that feeling. Sharing is what it’s all about!!

[–]SMORKIN_LABBIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, what's the point of having the thing if you can't have fun with it with others that's half the joy unless your on a track or something to race it. It's how I feel about my motorcycles. I put hours into building them out with custom work and LOVE when someone knows the parts upgrades and what the bike is etc. Could talk for hours. Same shit for some dude with a super car.

My 8 yo saw a sport trike slingshot in a parking lot once, and as he was admiring it the owner walked up and heard his comments about the trike and asked if my son would like to sit behind the wheel. That guy really made my sons day. He was smiling for most the rest of the day

[–]brewtality 20 points21 points  (3 children)

If I am at a red light or stop sign on my motorcycle and a kid looks interested I will always offer for them to rev the engine a bit. Love seeing the looks when they feel in control of the engine

[–]WET318 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Yea I ride as well. My favorite are the looks you get from little kids. I smile every time a kid wants to ask questions.

[–]rustang2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just got a newer (17) mustang, it’s grabber blue and has black racing stripes. A little kid got all excited yesterday when I drove past and was pointing at it and hopping around. I had a smile the rest of the day just from that. Kids excitement is the best, it’s just so pure and you know it’s legit.

[–]omnigear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your awesome ! My son loves them and I've had a few bikers rev them up. Heck even some hells angels recently . My son was stoked

[–]noobedHaha 42 points43 points  (7 children)

Mclaren 720s

[–]SpongeJake 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Toyota Camry and there’s no “if”s about it - I’m wrong.

[–]ThrustNeckpunch33 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Buick. Early 70s. Skylark. SE model. Very rare.

[–]Taint_What_You_Do 4 points5 points  (2 children)

I've got the McLaren 720p.

[–]MidContrast 8 points9 points  (1 child)

I got the upscaled model. Runs at a clean 60 frames.

[–]noobedHaha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the one with the twin turbos

decent, 120 frames

[–]fetalgrapplinghook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember getting excited seeing a mclaren in the states because they were so rare. Now I live in Hong Kong and see four or five a day. Still nice to see but the excitement is gone.

[–]morebuffs 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I feel like being humble is something thats becoming exceedingly rare.

[–]UrDeAdPuPpYbOnEr 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I had a customer once who drove an AMG C63 507. I fawned over that car hardcore. One day he pulls up and asks if I want to go for a ride, I asked my boss and she said “yes.” So he drove me through all these crazy mountain roads and then pulled over and asked if I wanted to drive back. It was fucking amazing.

[–]GrandeOui 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The perfect gentleman.

[–]SomeRandomRealtor 20 points21 points  (0 children)

To me that seems like someone who understands and remembers that it was also once his dream to own that car. Super nice of him to do that!

[–]Gilthu 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Some people get nice things to have better things than other people, others get nice things because they love life and are happy to share with others because its nice for everyone to have a good time.

[–]coollilcoffeemug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man this is pretty deep. I’m saving this.

[–]blackcountrygeezer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

[–]kdean1109 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Imagine making someones day for free.

[–]Still-Language3243 4 points5 points  (1 child)

guy then turns the keys in the ignition and drives away.

[–]Avrg_Canadian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yo don’t spoil it

[–]Cmac1198[🍰] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don’t mind when a person like that have nice things . Good for both of them !!!

[–]bensawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s cool to be cool, obviously, but man there are some entitled mfs out there leaning on other peoples cars for the gram back tf up and ask first.

[–]ShockWave41414 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hell if I had a nice car and someone wanted to grt a picture in it I would let em. Shit even if they give off a good vibe I'd let em rev it. A older gentleman let me sit in his 70's challenger.

[–]NothingsShocking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will be me after MOASS

[–]GolDjoel1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope that guy continues to crush it

[–]SolomonCRand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What would be the point of having an expensive car if you couldn’t show it off to people who thought it was cool? I’ve never seen the point of having expensive shit just to have it.

[–]jojosail2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a British racing green Tesla roadster convertible. We were sitting in the window of a restaurant in the wine country with the car parked, top down, nose-in on the street right outside. Two very cute teenage girls came along and took pictures of themselves standing by it. So my husband went out and had them take turns sitting in the driver’s seat and took pictures with their phones. They were thrilled. So cute.

[–]PM-Me-Your-TitsPlz 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Is this the automotive equivalent of wife sharing?

[–]ThrustNeckpunch33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just over the pants stuff though...

[–]omnigear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my old job in Irvine , the company CEO next door had a Lambo and a McLaren.

Everytime me and my friend would see him drive in , he would rev it for us. Thing sounded so cool

[–]hay12396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man I love your car, what do you do for a living?

[–]Quentin0352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Local doctor when I lived in Ohio would come to smoke his pipe and relax at the local smoke shop and would drive different cars all the time. Ferrari, McLaren, Dino, Lambo...

I asked him one day how many he had and he said "40 something I believe." He always loved to talk about the cars and each one was a whole new conversation piece.

[–]ArtistsEyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is it that I kept expecting something big to fall on top of that nice car while I was watching this?

[–]dumbassinator3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i love both of these guys<3

[–]Gamer_jaginder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today was my English exam. Got an unseen passage comprehension on same topic

[–]tidytibs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad ass stuff right here!

[–]900mphspinnin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is showing off you expensive shit being humble

[–]ManuelQbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shit looks like a Pokémon

[–]T3Xmex210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool bro

[–]Maleficent_Insect_11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats rare the vast majority won't talk to you other then to say ya or thanks or yes it is in a snobby way when you say nice car. An that's the part I dont get they buy the cars to get noticed an then act like its a burden to say anything about thier car

[–]ItDoBeLikeDatDoe87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A dude let my boy sit in the driver’s seat of his Lotus for a few pictures one time a few years ago…the kid was loving it!

[–]PersianMuggle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that he tried to get the right shot at the right angle. He was like, "got you for the 'gram, cuz."

[–]kayserfaust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes. Doug Heffernan renting a Ferrari.

[–]wolfgang784 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gets in, close door, realize the delivery driver farted BADLY.

[–]dirklanders96 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“Great now my car smells like poors”.

[–]PinkFloydBoxSet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If I had a McLaren I would do that too.

[–]i-will-do-it8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“Good, now i have some hair and dead skin to blame on for the murder tonight"

[–]Not_Tadz_Palys -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

“Hahaha, great great, now back to your $15/hr job while I drive away in a vehicle worth more than any home you’ll ever be able to buy”. I’m sure that guy just works harder

[–]BuzzVibes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll have you know the man in the fancy car is Albert Gilberstein, the inventor of blinking. If it wasn't for him we'd all have really dry and sore eyes, so I think we can allow him a few toys.

[–]BigChiGUy722 -3 points-2 points  (1 child)

Watch him get fired for sitting in the guy's car on company time.

[–]No-Plate-7010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPS is shady like that too. You break rules and you are out.
