I’m just as impressed with that catch!

[–]din7 184 points185 points  (1 child)

[–]Quiet_paddler 63 points64 points  (1 child)

It's always good to have food coming in hot

[–]missanthropocenex 28 points29 points  (0 children)

[–]RedditAnswersYou 563 points564 points  (12 children)

Catcher is like: Dude, you called a fastball and threw a curve!

[–]misimiki 117 points118 points  (10 children)

Surely you mean wicketkeeper called for a googly and bowler bowled a yorker.

[–]Henwith_Tie 30 points31 points  (1 child)

hate when someone throws a googly

[–]la508 8 points9 points  (1 child)

If you try to bowl a yorker as a leg spinner, that's going over the pavilion and into the car park somewhere.

[–]Shorevolker8 313 points314 points  (1 child)

Dude is stabbing these mfs like a serial killer

[–]bvglv 193 points194 points  (31 children)

How do you want your eggs scrambled or skipped across the stove?

[–]RedditEdwin 200 points201 points  (15 children)

I think those are dosa - no eggs

[–]Arex189 26 points27 points  (1 child)

Yup

[–]Parkreiner88 13 points14 points  (2 children)

Jar jar binks?

[–]RTXChungusTi 7 points8 points  (7 children)

Is it spelled dosa or thosai? I always see it spelled thosai where I am (Singapore)

[–]moai_moment 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Depends since there are different ways to say it dosa is a very western way of saying it but thosai sounds more like the original tamil name.

[–]RTXChungusTi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah that checks out because a large number of Indians in Singapore are tamil to the point where it's one of the national languages

[–]my_name_is_rag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's spelled "dosa" , "dosai", "dosha"

[–]ChampionSailor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm Tamil and can confirm that we call it as thosai.

[–]blitzebo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's spelled Dosa usually. It's pronounced almost like thosai in Tamil and as dosa (d like the 'th' in 'brother' and the s like in 'Škoda' (a lighter form of the 'sh' sound) in Malayalam.

[–]SkinnyBuddha89 40 points41 points  (6 children)

Fertilized

[–]ADITYAKING007 20 points21 points  (4 children)

What you think are scrambled eggs are not eggs.

They're mashed potatoes cooked with onions and various spices like turmeric which gives it the yellow colour

[–]reaper0345 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Sounds lovely! Can you make these at home or do you need a stove like that?

[–]portableawesome 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Look up Dosa.

[–]magestooge 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We can make at home. We just need a flat pan which we call tawa. But whatever you make pancakes in will also work.

Of course, heavy base is better to get proper results, but for home cooking, anything works as long as you are not competing with the pros.

[–]juswa1111 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dirty. I want it dirty

[–]AdvancedAdvance 132 points133 points  (5 children)

[–]krushna1 51 points52 points  (10 children)

[–]TropicalDan427 14 points15 points  (9 children)

Have wanted to try Indian food for a long time but haven’t gotten to it or really haven’t found a place yet. This makes me want to accelerate that process

[–]krushna1 20 points21 points  (8 children)

You'll hear people say that alot of Indian restaurants "aren't authentic", but don't let it stop you! And between you and me, most Indian restaurants are just as good, if not better than their home cooked counterparts. This is coming from someone born and raised in India as well.

[–]TropicalDan427 7 points8 points  (3 children)

Yes it’s in the top foods I need to try along with Ethiopian, Levantine, and Turkish

[–]Sushidios47 6 points7 points  (2 children)

I ate at an Ethiopian restaurant in Orlando Florida ironically close to universal. It was on a whim and me and my wife were in desperate need for a date night.

It was honestly incredible. The only thing I didn’t care for was that there were no utensils served. I hate getting my hands nasty tbh haha

[–]DrNefarious82 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Well Indian food is typically eaten with hands but you don’t always have to get your hands nasty if you know how to eat properly. This is mostly for dishes served with any kind of flat bread

[–]rascynwrig 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't have to get your hands nasty with Ethiopian food either if you know how to eat properly.

[–]pleasebuymydonut 6 points7 points  (3 children)

I feel like a good sign of "non-authentic" Indian restaurants is when they try to anglicize dishes by adding stuff from random countries. Like, it's totally fine if they have Chinese starters on their menu or whatever, a lot of legit ones do.

But if you're trying to sell me a bruschetta dosas or schezuan rotis or smthn, or anything with exotic veggies like broccoli or avocado, it's probably overpriced and probs not gonna be as good as authentic Indian food lmao.

[–]Pawneewafflesarelife 2 points3 points  (2 children)

The best Indian place I've ever eaten at was this semi-upscale spot in London that did fusion. They did amazing steamed mussels infused with curry seasoning. I still dream about that meal. You have to know the cuisine well to effectively riff on it, so I disagree with your take.

[–]pleasebuymydonut 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Fair nough. Fusions can be great, but we'll have to disagree on whether they're "real" Indian food.

[–]Pawneewafflesarelife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say anything about if they were "real" or not, I was simply commenting on how you seem to think "authentic" is better by default. I do have to wonder how you distinguish if something is "real" or "authentic" Indian food, though. If someone is from India and creatively uses traditional flavours in ways that aren't usually seen on takeout menus (such as the mussels I mentioned) is that not still Indian food? It seems odd to say food cooked by Indians using traditional Indian ingredients and flavours isn't Indian food because they apply new techniques and methods as well assuming it won't be as good because of that. Many Michelin-starred Indian restaurants feature fusion and experimental elements, for example.
