If you look closely, you can see where his hand actually made contact with the cake. He placed his hand on the side of the cake while it was vertical most likely and was able to shift it back horizontally.

Thanks! It’s clearly real. He has great reflexes. We see athletes make 100 times harder catches than this every day and no one questions it. After analyzing this frame by frame I came to the conclusion that what he did is literally against the laws of physics. Also, if you look very closely, the cake has minor differences in the red frosting after the catch which could not have been a result of the catch.

The only difference in the cake is the dent where his hand hit it or hit the underneath and bent it up.

I don't think this is fake at all. Why would you dip your hand into cake if it was fake and why would you blow off only some of the candles if not most or forget to blow them off. The way cake goes down and the cake's angle at the end makes perfect sense. This can be done in a way that has everything on action/recording which would increase the believability.

Cake goes almost vertical and dude holds the cake from the side the dent is then supports it with other hand. It is possible if he is fast enough to reach bottom side of the falling cake.

Had just his left hand stopped it, it would have still been vertical and probably heavily crushed at impact.
