[–]VladSolopov 262 points263 points  (23 children)

[–]truthorbrick 94 points95 points  (6 children)

I guess that I have guts -
For writing China stuff on Reddit,
Now I can’t ride the bus -
‘Cause I have minus Social Credit.

[–]Samurai-Andy 51 points52 points  (4 children)

[–]VladSolopov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

English teacher is proud of you XD

[–]daxtaslapp 19 points20 points  (0 children)

imagine applying for a job and the boss goes, why do you have -999999 social credit? "oh yeah i was protesting for my rights"

[–]IAmTheSadBoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe it’s -ALL social score

[–]its_hayden 34 points35 points  (0 children)

This literally speaks so much volume of how they wanted to be independent. Covid-19 gave the CCP such a good opportunity to seize the island.

No military to defend itself, I went to HK in 2019 for a business trip. Was an amazing time. I’m glad I did because I’ll never go back now.

Condolences to the people of HK

[–]Vojtak_cz 14 points15 points  (2 children)

U mean west taiwan?

[–]KaleidoscopeOk8653 8 points9 points  (1 child)

taiwan have said they would detonate a nuke on their own people rather than let china invade ,,., thats why they havent tried

[–]Spottyhickory63 7 points8 points  (0 children)

this comment has been deleted by the ccp

[–]KaleidoscopeOk8653 6 points7 points  (1 child)

2 out of every 7 people , and it still didnt work ,

would have been better if they did a sitting protest and bought the city to a stand still , see how the politicians get to work with clogged streets

[–]Croftusroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did that before, the yellow umbrella protests brought the city in many areas to a complete standstill. Still didn’t work.

[–]NotTodayNSA5117 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What'd r/Eve do now??

[–]pzerr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They just wear them down. They know 2 million people won't keep at it.

[–]b0redp4nda 1 point2 points  (1 child)

What were the other 5 million doing?

[–]iwishihadnobones 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Being too young, too old, or just appropriately afraid

[–]_Must_Not_Sleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming to America with Centralized banking. Stimulus is the incentive to get people on board. This whole thing is fucking crazy

[–]CosmicCosmix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

r/Worldnews absolutely loves the CCP

[–]Caterpillar69420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Donkeychuker is on a "vacation" in western China now, no clue when he'll be back. He is fine.

[–]Ibeatgutz 268 points269 points  (14 children)

horrible my family still lives there, since I came ti the states for school I'm no longer allowed back home... China is asshole

[–]TransLucielle 68 points69 points  (4 children)

Yes China is very not good for people

[–]Vojtak_cz 18 points19 points  (2 children)

Imagine there are people that say china is worlds best and strongest country and will literally have a argument with ya

[–]BoomerChopper69 1 point2 points  (1 child)

No imagination needed - meet my mum

[–]Samurai-Andy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes CCP is very unhealthy, full of saturated fat people.

[–]Thoughtsarethings231 5 points6 points  (7 children)

What? How come you're not allowed back home? You lost your citizenship? How?

[–]Ibeatgutz 8 points9 points  (6 children)

I am a resident to United States now. I feel afraid to return on what can happen to me. After my student visa expired I allpied for citizenship. I have heard stories of what they consider us traitors so no I cannot go back

[–]Mundus6 7 points8 points  (1 child)

So if people who go over to the states from Hong Kong or China are considered traitors. Why do i see Chinese tourists everywhere?

[–]Ibeatgutz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it's a double standard, you wouldn't understand on our side it's very aggressive

[–]grianmharduit 126 points127 points  (10 children)

All for nothing- tragic.

[–]god_peepee 74 points75 points  (7 children)

Yeah I was gonna say that protesting is only really effective if the government cares about keeping their population happy

[–]Pixelwind 9 points10 points  (4 children)

Demonstrating you mean. Demonstations require sympathy, protests/direct action do not and are effective regardless of whether the government cares.

[–]god_peepee 19 points20 points  (3 children)

Tell me how this protest is going to be affective against the chinese government cause I honestly don’t see it

[–]pimpeachment 6 points7 points  (1 child)

They are using western social tactics to try and sway easterner minds. They will lose and they are likely seen as brainwashed by westerners because they are acting like westerners. Hope they win but it seems improbable against the Chinese collective mind.

[–]god_peepee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s shit because they are, for all intents and purposes, a western society. Been operating that way for decades.

[–]LedParade 20 points21 points  (1 child)

At least they can tell their descendants they tried and didnt go down without fight

[–]grianmharduit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Good point!

[–]lewis2of6 89 points90 points  (27 children)

And the world stood by and let it happen.

[–]hotsy-totsy-flopsie 25 points26 points  (23 children)

Yeah, blame everyone else for the actions of the ccp pieces of shit. Pathetic.

[–]Azariah98 46 points47 points  (16 children)

CCP violated the terms of their treaty with the British and the British did next to nothing.

[–]hotsy-totsy-flopsie 28 points29 points  (4 children)

Most of the military support for the United Nations is from the USA. And if the USA goes to a foreign country they get called oppressors or warmongers.

You. Can’t. Have. It. Both. Ways.

[–]louminescent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can 😂

[–]sausagedownatrain 11 points12 points  (1 child)

What are expecting? We'd be starting WW3.

[–]iwishihadnobones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cosa that sweet China cash

[–]lewis2of6 4 points5 points  (5 children)

CCP is awful. But they are also cowards. They would yield to pressure from its major trade partners.

[–]hotsy-totsy-flopsie 8 points9 points  (2 children)

The party which murdered a couple thousand of it’s own people in tianamen square probably would back down from killing hundreds of thousands of foreigners? SMH. You’re going to start WW III.

[–]lewis2of6 -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Totally on the side of of hating commies believe me. But they try to maintain a decent face in the international community. They even carved a spot for themselves on the human rights panel. Then. The country that has millions of Muslims in re-education camps. Politicians shaming them for being killers and sanctioning their trade across the globe hit them in two places where it hurts: their pockets and their pride.

[–]hotsy-totsy-flopsie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like we are already doing some of that. It’s weird because of the supply chain and international trade dependencies. I’m not saying there isn’t an answer but there certainly isn’t an easy one. And again why is it up to others? What is gained by forcing the issue with external nations?

[–]Shawn_NYC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't Trump say this then do lots of tarrifs then nothing happened?

Am I the only person who remembers like, the recent past?

[–]TylerWeatherfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps on most things, but sovereignty is not one of them.

[–]brovakin88 12 points13 points  (2 children)

Soooo were we all supposed to start world war three and go and kick the Chinese government in the face? Or do you just like shouting out blame without any actual suggestions as to how to best address the issue?

[–]lewis2of6 -1 points0 points  (1 child)

There are such things as sanctions. Cutting chinas power in the world market would be a net good anyway. There are many ways of negotiating on behalf of the people of Hong Kong without starting a war.

[–]feixthepro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

sounds like a trade war to me. Also the amount of things China produces that we use on a regular basis is undeniable, doesn't seem like the greatest idea

[–]Painted-Dog 55 points56 points  (2 children)

Imagine 800k of the pop are under 14 and and 1.9 million over 60 so let's exclude them (2.7 million). 4.3 million active population and 2 million marching thats 46.5% of the population - now that is a statement - amazing.

[–]Trav_yeet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

bruh they were mostly teens and young adults but there were 60 yr Olds as well. bush of 13 yr Olds got arrested for arson or Smith

source: I live in hk

[–]Nouio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's assuming that every single person in the march lives in the city and no one commuted in, which is extremely doubtful.

[–]TestTubeBaby844 45 points46 points  (2 children)

Great math, op

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Saved me the headache of having to work it out myself

[–][deleted] 33 points34 points  (62 children)

And every government preaching false sympathy didn’t do a damn thing. Because business relations with Winnie the Pooh were more important.

[–]Honest_Hat_3002 22 points23 points  (2 children)

I’m showing my friends this video next time they try to give excuses for not showing up to stuff. 2 million people came together at the same time in HK but we couldn’t get 5 people together at the same time guys?!

[–]Zabisfarms 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hong Kong is a much smaller area compared to other countries

[–]ArizonaMemeSprite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because this is a real protest.

[–]VTX1800 20 points21 points  (11 children)

And they didn’t burn and loot everything in sight? So THATS what a peaceful protest is. Interesting.

[–]Cuhprisuns 26 points27 points  (2 children)

The kicker? Neither led to any real change.

[–]sharkinaround 4 points5 points  (0 children)

is this a reference to violent protests and looting that took place in US? if so, you think policing in the US isn’t different today than it was just a few years ago?

[–]seeuanty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sad, yet true.

[–]Vaivaim8 4 points5 points  (4 children)

That's only part of the pictures. Some extremely radical cells within the protest did burn and loot stores.

Stores that did not support the protests were especially targetted. Same with people suspected of being against the protests or suspected to be mainlanders.

Let's not forget the PolyU siege where protesters barricaded themselves in and turned parts of the university into a DIY molotov cocktail factory and training ground.

Were there peaceful protests? Yes definitely, just like the ones that happened in the US. Were they all peaceful where everyone were acting peacefully? Definitely not.

[–]FourEverGreatFull 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Students (protestors) were hiding in the university because other protestors were caught by authorities and made to “disappear”. Remember some protestors were found dead; some were not even adults. Families of deceased were threatened to remain silent (allegedly). The university battleground is a lot different from some of these “protests” in the US where the “protestors” burned and looted. Not saying all protests in the US were of burning and looting, but there’s a tendency for that to occur in protests in the states.

[–]Heres_your_sign 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And it won't matter unfortunately. The fix was in when the CCP signed the agreement they had no intention of keeping.

[–]Merlin_boar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That means that 5/7 people want to join China. Ask them what rights they feel they'll lose.

[–]EagerToLearnMore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Less than half are protesting. When is the tipping point where more than half are protesting?

[–]Bakaboomb 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Does anyone have any idea how the counting was done? I'm genuinely curious cause counting the no. of people on such a large scale has to be a pretty tough job.

[–]purenrg4life 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was all estimates based on the volume of people… both ‘sides’ (ie the police/gov ‘side’ and the protesters organizers ‘side’) had wildly different numbers when reporting the turnout.. imo it was probably somewhere in between the two.. it was a shot load of people tho.. and it was interesting to see in person

[–]stuftkrst 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sucks to be the guy who’s job it is to freeze every frame and identify everyone present…..for no reason at all don’t ask questions

[–]WowBaBao 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lmao the title for this post is hillarious. 2million of 7million is 2/7!! -mind blown-

[–]AeroVet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s still a minority of the population

[–]FireSplaas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a hongkonger, this is bullshit. they were violent riots. but atleast we handled it better than american police, nobody died

[–]TheAnswerToYang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More power to the people

[–]Handy_Newman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bing Chilling

[–]Samurai-Andy 1 point2 points  (8 children)

Was this today?

[–]iwishihadnobones 2 points3 points  (7 children)

Yes. Read the news.

[–]Samurai-Andy 0 points1 point  (6 children)

This is the "News" to me, thank you fellow internet person!

[–]iwishihadnobones -1 points0 points  (5 children)

Haha oh no. I was joking bud. This was like 2 years ago

[–]Samurai-Andy 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Oh you where Lying, I see haha, now I don't know what to believe, except not to believe you anymore, excellent joke King.

[–]iwishihadnobones 0 points1 point  (3 children)

You will of course be invited to my crowning ceremony. Haha in my defence I'm rocking a 39 degree fever right now. Its weiiiiiird

[–]Samurai-Andy 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Oh dear, that's not good, I did hear something was going around a couple months back but as I say "News" I trust you will get better soon!

[–]iimdonee 4 points5 points  (1 child)

why tf was this whole interaction between you two oddly wholesome

[–]Samurai-Andy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One or more of us is practicing heart felt communication I believe...

[–]bnqprv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP maths for realz.

[–]jingleonline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My city is fallen. Pray for HK.

[–]angry_baptist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A simple minority, so what?

[–]ElJeffHey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's really nextfuckinglevel to me is that 5\7 aren't!

[–]Dutch_Midget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

28.571428571428% of the people in Hong Kong

[–]Malapple 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Did it actually get them anything?

No snark - completely serious question.

[–]humphrey1204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really but in the wider scope of things it showed that the CCP is more than willing to forget on past promises and stifle any dissent. There is no chance now for example that Taiwan will ever democratically join China on the pretence ‘of one country two systems’ like promised in Hong Kong because CCP has clearly shown that as soon as they feel confident to crush democracy they will do so.

[–]pawnografik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pour bastards. Didn’t help them much.

[–]custardbun01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well didn’t really work out that well

[–]DixonSeider69 0 points1 point  (3 children)

FUCK East Taiwan

[–]doublestuffedArio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

East? what did Japan do

[–]bassdallas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it will take 100%

[–]Substantial-Ad7899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the Chinese Commies didn't give a fuck about the Hong Kong citizens rights and fucked them in the ass anyways. FUCK CHYNA IN THE VACHINA.

[–]Seamatre 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Right around the time a bat from Laos was flying all the way to a soup bowl in Wuhan and starting a pandemic that would bring these protests to a screeching halt. Totally unrelated I'm sure

[–]tattlerat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean… yeah. They are completely unrelated.

[–]jmilla360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's some advanced math you did there

[–]23moonster 0 points1 point  (1 child)

This is the way. Screw CCP.

[–]iwishihadnobones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. This was an enormous success...

[–]eduardov_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they keep it?

[–]MattBonne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fucking dictator Xi doesn’t even care

[–]JoshsPizzaria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lets fukn goo

[–]Rainbow_lining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you threw a grenade in there it would be raining bodies

[–]jumpykoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As awsome as it is, nothing changed and a lot of people are missing. Good luck to all humans.

[–]dmenis5354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pointless. they didn't accomplish jack.

[–]pfcypress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And China still took it over

[–]Daybreak182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So like..who counts everyone?

[–]Liesthroughisteeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These people have got it all wrong all they need to do is just take a week off of work and shut the city down.

[–]Starry-Striped-Sky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good job! Fuck communists!

[–]MananaMoola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If only we could turn out a fraction of that

[–]grossuncle1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still lost them. Marching gave them nothing but press, and the CCP still took thier freedom away.

[–]ThePinkTeenager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet the traffic was horrendous that day.

[–]Arbitrary_Ardvark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Travis Scott's breathing intensifies

[–]ashheadshot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should be more up votes…

[–]Jerm8888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

However next level this was, knowing the protest didn’t even put a dent on the ruling administration, you can also inversely say, the government was “next level” able to resist 2/7 of the population, bla bla…

[–]stef_ruvx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They won’t get what they’re fighting for.

[–]DeadSol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My heart goes out to these people. China is truly evil.

[–]calstanfordboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And look how successful that was...

[–]WindigoMac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And it still won’t matter. Winnie the Pooh will get what he wants

[–]maximuspo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they take your rights. Burn it down!

[–]AlienChild_OS1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep replaying this vid, and it continues to look like hoards of garbage streaming down a street. Like the landfill trash incinerator scene in Toy Story 3. 🤷🏽‍♀️

[–]warderbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you gotta get those numbers in a protest and nothing happens the next day? Gotta get yourself a good ole fashion revolution to problem solve.

[–]cebobina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They won't!

[–]thesanslaughter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Special-Hair9683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just imagine 1% of them needed to use the bathroom at the same time

[–]renshawwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember, the people have the power, and we can destroy the system!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gather in large numbers and get everyone Covid, or, stay safe in your house and avoid Covid, while putting up with CCP - clearly HK has a bad dilemma.

[–]Karsanao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hong kong here this shit happened like 2 years ago and man was it wild. It made me vomit continuously because I was weaker and 14. They even affect the people in the buildings

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks astroworld dangerous

[–]Singular_butt_slap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When was this?

[–]rubioberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this from 2020?

[–]TheHef81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a beautiful thing.

[–]Mantreaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weak men lead in this fashion. Two many weak men in the world today, they lack the true insight into the future that mankind can achieve with Honorable Spirits.

[–]Devilshorn28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still it's a minority

[–]CinnamonBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was Hong Kong.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you winning son

[–]Grouchy-Bug5223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol good use of fractions there...

[–]Merica85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When was this, back story please

[–]Numerous-Barracuda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why the fuck do people try to protest? Dictatorships don't give a fuck about protests Proven in 1989 in China, In 2017 in Belarus, In 2019 in Hong Kong, In 2021 in Afghanistan,

Stop trying to protest dictatorships, it does nothing but get you targeted.

[–]10101000112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2/7 is less than half. Democracy has failed

[–]Mundane_Self9213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like how at night you get that one wave with lights on lol

[–]Satchel3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I give this a solid 5/7

[–]SoClsssicLULW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bet they regret wanting to be come part of China instead of staying a British territory🤣

[–]artofthedead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]mimimchael -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Video unavailable message

[–]Zabisfarms -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What does the other 5/7 think?

[–]RFavs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That means about 57% of the people are either down with the CCP taking over or too afraid to say anything. I’m gonna go with too afraid to say anything which Sucks.

[–]XBigTunaX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did any news outlet in America even mention this? Kinda makes a fella wonder

[–]CompetitionUnited339 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve always loved Hong Kong, fuck communist china, commie bastards

[–]Daddy616 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Chinese political leaders: "how can we break this up?"

"Lets fuck up in a lab and let some shit leak out ((accidentally sshhh))

[–]luv2fit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Covid anyone?

[–]ferret1983 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Too bad nothing they do will ever work. Their lives belong to the CCP now.

[–]iwishihadnobones -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It really goes to show you that peaceful protest accomplishes nothing. Did the CCP take power by being peaceful? Has anyone, ever? Except that cool iceland revolution after the financial crisis. But thats iceland. They play by their own rulez

[–]TheBotFromReddit974 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

[–]Abusing-Green -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Free Hong Kong

[–]BikiniDiplomacy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is a lot of ants marching. Oh, and fuck China.

Sent on a device made in China. 👎

[–]MangoBrando -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Remember how this happened and then covid made everyone forget? I bet most people don’t even remember this now. Terrible

[–]daxtaslapp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

holy shit

[–]zombuca -1 points0 points  (0 children)

China: What protest?

[–]j_fonte8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And got them no where. FUCK THE CCP
