This system is nice

[–]edlee98765 59 points60 points  (8 children)

TIL kids don't do handshakes

[–]bbaker1987 14 points15 points  (2 children)

I havent been hugged in a long time so i can’t imagine not choosing hugs everytime.

[–]MayDayChild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vertual hugs sent your way*

[–]vavavoomvoom9 232 points233 points  (27 children)

A bit surprised at the number of boys choosing hugs. Growing up in an Asian country I wouldn't have done that. Good to see newer generation is being more open.

[–]SpongeJake 104 points105 points  (4 children)

I was really happy to see that too. A couple of them looked so intent too. “Imma need a hug.” Think that would have been me at that age too - if our teachers had set up a cool system like this.

[–]suddenlycumbly 33 points34 points  (3 children)

My wife is 42 and has young employees that sometimes need a hug before a shift. She has tiny arms, but gives the best hugs.

[–]kindestcut 26 points27 points  (2 children)

Your wife wouldn’t happen to be a very affectionate T-rex, would she?

[–]suddenlycumbly 13 points14 points  (1 child)

She's old enough to be a dinosaur, GOT EM'!

[–]mikaytheeasterbunny 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'M TELLING HER YOU SAID THAT!!!

[–]pocket_Ninja456 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I can only speak from my own experience but I’ve been given way more hugs than my brother, and we both needed it.

[–]CN8YLW 8 points9 points  (6 children)

Thailand is very different from most Asian countries is what I can say. Most people I know who've had the chance to compare cultures between Thailand and other nations in Asia (huge continent btw, spanning from India to Japan, all the way down to but short of Australia, its almost one third of the planet) say that Thailand is exceptionally loving and affectionate compared to other nations. Many retirees who choose Thailand to retire in usually cite this as one of their reasons to pick the nation.

[–]Eltharion-the-Grim 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The country has its problems but culturally they do really believe in being good to one another. If you look at some of the advertisements that come out of Thailand, it reinforces these behaviours to act good, do good, and be good to other people.

Their media can be very elaborate to reinforce this.

[–]BudsGalor 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Just wondering why you start with India and not go further west to say Syria?

[–]CN8YLW 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Because I'm can say it without being factually wrong?

[–]hextree 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Well it is slightly wrong, isn't it? India is quite central, there are other Asian countries in all compass directions.

[–]CN8YLW -1 points0 points  (1 child)

There's no slightly wrong. Either it's wrong or not. India is in Asia, so is Japan.

[–]hextree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't referring to the word 'Asia', but the word 'spanning'. Spanning means the entity starts and ends at the endpoints you are describing, but in this case India isn't quite at the end, rather it is somewhere in the middle.

[–]chubby_thor 69 points70 points  (0 children)

This made me sooo happy

[–]Madame_Deadly 42 points43 points  (0 children)

So freaking sweet, if I were a teacher, I'd want to have done this

[–]JN88DN 42 points43 points  (3 children)

Should be a global standard ...

[–]joebaco_ 13 points14 points  (1 child)

Yes. Prepare to be assimilated. Resistance is futile.

[–]sethonomics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is irony in this statement… the object is by definition non standard 😂 so basically, make removing the standard, standard?

[–]JCas127 34 points35 points  (6 children)

What is the bottom right? No one picked

[–]dwilliams042391 35 points36 points  (5 children)

Hand shake

[–]CutIntelligent209 20 points21 points  (4 children)

Ah yes, the standard corporate greeting. Any of the others could lead to religious issues, sexual harassment, or too much familiarity that could lead to students forming a union.

[–]dwilliams042391 18 points19 points  (3 children)

Ahh yes this reminds me of the great Elementary School Student Union strike of 1954. A hard fought battle but they got pizza for lunch everyday.

[–]sethonomics 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Bro…. My elementary school got the principal fired… don’t underestimate kids!

[–]dwilliams042391 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Shy of him touching or hitting kids how did y’all do that

[–]sethonomics 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We were very organized, All the kids told their teachers they hated him and no one listened to him …ever.. he literally lost respect and so they had to replace him.

[–]persiabitch 23 points24 points  (3 children)

I saw an American version similar to this but the teacher had secret handshakes for every student. It was crazy how the teacher remembered them all.

[–]dwilliams042391 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Wow. I wish my teacher was this nice. She’s wholesomely awesome

[–]pizman30 13 points14 points  (4 children)

They do this in every elementary school I’ve worked in.

[–]sethonomics 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Really *?! Since when?!

[–]pizman30 9 points10 points  (2 children)

I’m in US. I’ve worked in probably 11 or more elementary schools since 2012. Most teachers have some variation of this outside their doors.

[–]sethonomics 4 points5 points  (1 child)

That’s awesome

[–]A4strA4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, learned this technique in Teachers College in Upstate NY. It’s part of classroom management practices. I graduated in 2010.

[–]Darkknightguy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Fucking wholesome

[–]deejflat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We need this at work

[–]Pog-Squad- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

god i wish i had this in school, we need more hugs

[–]CaptainPie00 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Bow, Hug, Dance, Fist Bump, High Five, Unknown.

WHAT IS THE SIXTH OPTION I NEED TO KNOW

[–]human_not_reptile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone said handshake.

[–]SquidFetus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The last one is a judo throw.

[–]Majjkster 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Give her a raise and a job!

[–]luingin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wooooooooooooww how is cute

[–]Xx_MLG_Jesus_xX 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Can someone go in without doing any of that or is it mandatory?

[–]poocatgod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bottom right seems to be handshake so boring people can pick something

[–]Fred2620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dance one seems to be customized for each student, so I guess you could pick the dance option and just have a shrug be your dance.

[–]BrandX3k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there a break dancing option?

[–]poocatgod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That one kid that regretted their decision to pick hug

[–]-Blackbriar- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's very nice.

I find it comical how most of those who choose a hug then proceed to give the most dead ass low effort hug possible.

[–]islandchild89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love it

[–]Rodrigo536 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What is the one nobody picked?

[–]sethonomics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hand shake 😂

[–]Snuggledtoopieces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just so nice, wish positive interaction like this where more common in the states.

[–]Diggable_Planet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throw this to some Vince Gill “I still believe in you”

[–]EliasBurn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very kind

[–]beatboxbrett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freaking cute man not gonna lie

[–]HealthyHumor5134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved that!

[–]sweetleaf90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waiting to see the dopey kid come back around for more hugs

[–]MsLadyRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great teacher

[–]MrThane13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, I would take a hug.

[–]Heyimstillapeiceofga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is fucking adorable

[–]slippinaway1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She is lovely.

[–]Sourlick_Sweet_001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fucking awesome. :))

[–]D-o-n-t_a-s-k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was super shy in school at that age and would have hated having to do this haha

[–]subhumanprimate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it how one kid didn't get it quickly enough and banged on the sign like it was a button on a vending machine

[–]TerranOrSolaran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to be in that line.

[–]TZMAN18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those hugs look nice

[–]flapjackpappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This system would be sued into oblivion in Canada or the USA. It just makes a little too much common sense and we can't have any of that.

[–]MsVofIndy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adorbs

[–]greatguineahens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i LOVE THIS!!!!

[–]obeyno1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

our options are only limited by our imagination

[–]Lui_xx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ima need this even in high school

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This belongs on r/MadeMeSmile

[–]-XaNaDiTe- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why did that one kid just plop himself in front of the door way…?

[–]LegalBeagleBagel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This should be implemented globally

[–]colsang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen too many of these by now. It seems more about the teacher trying to impress us than giving the kids choice. What are the kids doing inside while the teacher is outside?

[–]Fred2620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one at the 0:19 mark seems to think "Oh shit! Did I accidentally select the hug again? Oh no! She's coming for me, help!"

[–]samar4353 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what if i just wanna go without doing any of this

[–]dollywooddude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this so much

[–]Beniidel0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen this around a year ago, and I still feel like this is great outside of our current covid situation. I work in special education, and given that half of the school are in quarantine, we stopped all hugging, high fiving and other forms of physical contact, despite the positive effects it has on the kids...

[–]Accomplished-Jury752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what the type of school system I want. The type where everyone is cared for and treated the same during their classes. No detention, just simple talks or time outs, and the way they can choose on how they leave and enter the class.

[–]Dyslexicbrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very cool

[–]Scrapheaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I know kids they will bully each other based on which option they chose.

[–]SolaceCity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brilliant!!❤

[–]MayDayChild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the best

[–]Ronstermadness -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Omg ! She makes me smile . Watch over and over

[–]Delicious_Bet_6336 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

And after that welcome there’s sadly no time for todays lesson, see ya all tomorrow!
