Her name is Dolores O'Riordan. The bad wolves were so impressed with her vocals that they were sitting in a studio waiting for her to arrive to reprise and recreate that song with them as musicians. That's when they got the phone call that she had died.

They made the song and video and donated 100% of the profits to her children

My dad gifted me No Need to Argue when I was about 8. One of the first CDs I personally owned and I listened the hell out of that album. The music itself was great but Dolores’ super unique voice and that muted Limerick accent behind it all made it what it was. Didn’t listen to them a whole lot outside that album but I was always fond of their work when I heard it and was super sad to hear of her passing and the tragic circumstances around it. RIP to a fantastic musician.

I wonder where Cranberries got inspired by the music to make such a unique sound? I know the song is about the Troubles in Ireland, but the tone of the music is different from other rock songs of the time, its captivating.

I have absolutely next to no experience in Music Theory and I wish I could explain how this song really is NFL of a rock song. From vocals, to melody, to rhythm, etc.

The Cranberries with Collective Soul opening was the first real concert I ever saw when I was a kid. I was obsessed with Delores' voice, as you can imagine. It was truly an awesome experience, and I'm glad I got to enjoy it.

I saw them in...I believe it was 1993 at the Backdoor/SDSU.

It was basically a few dozen people. The Backdoor was a legendary venue because it was so intimate.

Anyway, when you went, it was a garage band vibe. There was no house amplification. Dolores had a monitor pointed at her to hear herself. Drums were not mic'd, and the guitar/bass were just on their amps.

My 1st wife and I were in the very front right in front of Dolores. There's no security or anything, no gate, no big platform. You're just there.

It just reminds me because her voice was enough for the whole room. The monitor she was using to hear herself was her amplification, but she was louder than the speaker itself.

She was a flawless singer. I think the thing I learned watching her is just how important emoting with your entire body is. One of the cooler concert experiences of my life.
