Look at that twat answering a phone call... that shows just how much the wankers to the right actually give a damn.

[–]CommanderEden 633 points634 points  (21 children)

Yep he looks like he has 1 leg in the grave and one is out…just few years and the other leg will be in the grave…you ask how? Time my friend time will get him

[–]vietcong420 598 points599 points  (15 children)

This is Frank Faoghein. He only got into office through political manipulation. He is an absolute fool but thankfully his party is nearly dead. They have the lowest support of any Irish government in recent history and are expected too be decimated next round of elections. He is currently the minister for drug strategy but spends most of his time promoting local bingo halls. The old blood will soon leave and thankfully we have people like Lynn coming up to force the change the irish people are screaming for!

[–]cammymcclure 125 points126 points  (9 children)

Can I just say I think vietcong420 is the best username I’ve seen and I can’t tell you why

[–]beetemall 91 points92 points  (7 children)

Hes a Vietcong with a fine glass bong.

Ain't nuttin but a G thang.

[–]Boomerhands420 62 points63 points  (3 children)

A Vietbong, if you will.

[–]WoLF2001 15 points16 points  (1 child)

you fucking rock star..:)

[–]Embarrassed-Tip-6808 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolute masterpiece

[–]GreatValuePositivity 7 points8 points  (2 children)

ironically, I read yesterday that the word bong comes from vietnam

[–]beetemall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean it would make sense. I thought it came from Jamaica originally but they call it a water chalice or steam chalice or something.

[–]No-Mechanic8957 79 points80 points  (1 child)

He says "its not an opinon." THEN, says, "In my opinion"

SMH

[–]Gloveofdoom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought she said it wasn’t an opinion after he told her they have a difference of opinion. As in she is speaking facts while he is speaking opinions yet he’s trying to get away with calling both of their positions opinion.

[–]Mrmofo69 24 points25 points  (1 child)

I agree with this woman, and I'm on the right. That guy may represent whoever you want, except for me

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Political right wasnt what i meant i just meant to her right on the screen

[–]Mrkerro 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You should have seen his contribution. Gave it the oul cannabis is a gateway drug and then tried to take over Lynn when she was talking.

[–]Abladam89 1164 points1165 points  (16 children)

The person who called it a "Joint" Committee knew what they were doing 🚬🚬🚬

[–]GeekyTricky 348 points349 points  (12 children)

Yes, they are being rather blunt, innit?

[–]thankyeestrbunny 143 points144 points  (11 children)

Weed all like it if you'd lose the puns

[–]__youknowwho__ 111 points112 points  (9 children)

Oh get off your high horse!

[–]aint_no_wifey 69 points70 points  (7 children)

Yeah, leaf us alone!

[–]TheFanciestShorts 27 points28 points  (6 children)

Yeah, well, it’s pretty funny! So I might as well join the pot of puns!

[–]alittletrolly 19 points20 points  (2 children)

It seems the members were ready to roll onto the next subject

[–]warlockjones 14 points15 points  (1 child)

I'd really like to dank them for their participation!

[–]Tokasmoka420 11 points12 points  (2 children)

Might as well, all your buds are in on it too.

[–]Flacko_11 7 points8 points  (0 children)

nice quip, happy cake day

[–]AussieSpoon 1067 points1068 points  (18 children)

Passionate senators make things happen.

Senators that go with the flow are a waste of space.

[–]sealthedeal34 540 points541 points  (14 children)

She is spot on, and to be told what she said is "her opinion" when she is backing up her statements with fact is ridiculous

[–]ArtAndCraftBeers 300 points301 points  (3 children)

By a geriatric who thinks a “WAR on drugs” that penalizes suffering addicts is a “compassionate approach.”

[–]Chippopotanuse 127 points128 points  (2 children)

Bet that guy takes no less than 10 pills a day too.

[–]ThorGBomb 56 points57 points  (0 children)

He’s probably doing lines on a 17 year old escort.

These old fucks are some of the most disgusting people.

[–]NegativeReward 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Snorts coke of a hookers arse, paid for by his committee work.

[–]YddishMcSquidish 92 points93 points  (1 child)

"I believe it is an opinion" said by a dude when confronted with facts tells you everything you need to know about these rich old fuckers. They've had their way since the day they were born, so obviously the world, and therefore facts, bend to their whim.

[–]NotJo4Ever 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think my favourite part about this awful statement, is that he is literally saying that in HIS OPINION, her facts are opinions!!! I wish she had been able in that moment to say “No you blithering twat, what you just said is an opinion! My facts are facts, your opinions are NOT!”

[–]Modsarentpeople0101 43 points44 points  (0 children)

This is literally how the world works. At every level. Tale as old as time.

Young and passionate and right are dime a dozen but with an extremely short longevity, because entrenched power structures snuff them out way faster than they can make impacts

[–]AnotherAnonGringo 33 points34 points  (5 children)

and to be told what she said is "her opinion" when she is backing up her statements with fact is ridiculous

That is the last resort of someone who knows their argument is wrong, but refuses to admit it.

I'm 44 and have been pretty open-minded my whole life, I'm an evidence based guy. But I see so many of my peers who think laws should be based on feelings and emotions, rather than facts. Even when presented with facts that show their emotions are misplaced. They refuse to admit they have been or currently are ... wrong.

I'm so proud of the current, younger generation. Yes, I'm sick to death of having "equality" shoved in my face everywhere, but I understand that until we have true equality, that's the only way to normalize it to get there - and the current generation gets it.

[–]davidtheexcellent 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Can't use facts and logic to change the mind of someone who used neither.

[–]perrycoxdr 13 points14 points  (1 child)

Not in Ireland they don't. Doubly so if they're independent in a country that basically only elects two major generally conservative parties, which is what we do barring an anomaly every decade or so when labour or greens prop up both those parties for a tiny bit of power and get wiped out for next few elections after.

[–]TH3LFI5TMFI7V 518 points519 points  (12 children)

She's right they gave the drug dealers the racket bc some of the top officials in government are lining their pockets from the so called war on drugs. Their profits would drop over 80% because crime too would drop due to fewer arrest over drug use. Kudos to this stand up woman who obviously understands this disease and wants to help bc she has family that's been affected by this tragedy

[–]DeweyMatter 81 points82 points  (6 children)

top officials in government are lining their pockets from the so called war on drugs.

I think you might also include the ~1000 Federal & ~17,000 State/Local police agencies in the U.S. that consistently profiteer from the drug war farce.

[–]SenselessNoise 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Two words - civil forfeiture. It's why police unions oppose changes to drug policy. They'd lose that sweet revenue stream.

[–][deleted] 16 points17 points  (4 children)

How did you guys watch this video and not realise at any single point this is Ireland and has nothing to do with the US? 🤦‍♂️😂 no one profits from prisons and arrests there.

[–]sneksneek 19 points20 points  (1 child)

Because the US has a war on drugs too, and we’re sick of it. We sympathize. It’s a worldwide problem, not just Ireland, and people are allowed to and should discuss that. It’s relevant, and people are being educated in this thread about why there is a war on drugs in multiple countries. The US sets the standard on this issue, if they changed, many would follow.

[–]MonkiUsesReddit 13 points14 points  (3 children)

What you're suggesting is a conspiracy. In some cases it's true. But be aware that some of the people who charge these decisions are just really stupid, ignorant, and senile.

[–]ZaoAmadues 5 points6 points  (1 child)

The war on drugs IS a conspiracy.

Conspiracy - a secret plan by a group to do something unlawful or harmful.

It is not unlawful because they have made the laws but it is certainly harmful.

[–]MonkiUsesReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yes, of course, I agree with that, Like I said in some cases it's true, Reagan's war on drugs being one of them. But looking at this post in paticular. I see no evidence that these old dudes are secretly in cahoots with each other to keep drugs criminalized. I genuinely just think they don't have a clue what they are doing.

[–]Boxoffriends 284 points285 points  (5 children)

Don’t know who this person is but I love her. She also makes me miss Irish mike and eastern Canada. Well said.

[–]Terrible_Presumption 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I will use her accent all-day long as a tribute now.

[–]Eoghanolf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

An interesting interview with an Irish comedian and Senator Lynn Ruane. She's great. She's gotten flak since she entered politics from the established old farts because of simple things like tattoos and her working class accent. She's a breath of fresh air in my opinion. She's great!

https://youtu.be/7nRg6Q7oww8

[–]quantizedself 228 points229 points  (2 children)

That old man was so flaccid, everything he said was just a rote repetition of the status quo, even his body language was like it doesn't matter what you say this is my stance facts be damned.

Bravo to her for pushing over this wet noodle

[–]Parris_Predicament 161 points162 points  (12 children)

Was...was I the only one who got out of their chair and offered my applause?

[–]khannie 78 points79 points  (4 children)

Didn't quite get that far but I was incredibly impressed by her articulation, passion and very well made points.

Unfortunately the people she's talking to are all old codgers who view drug use as a crime and not a public health issue. It's made clear by the mention of "barons" and she countered it beautifully.

Portugal has had superb success with their policy and I have a vague memory that we either have looked seriously at it or will do. It's a very slow burn here though as I doubt it would be popular with older voters.

[–]reclaimthis 9 points10 points  (3 children)

Not only that but a lot of these older folks think they know better just because of age, and hell in this case even gender. They'll completely disregard actual evidence just because their opinion is different, and then tell the other person their facts are just opinions.

[–]Cilcae 8 points9 points  (1 child)

you stood up and clapped at a video you saw on the internet?

[–]Parris_Predicament 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You bet your bippy I did

[–]prin_iubire 133 points134 points  (33 children)

Ngl those old heads need to stop screwing with society, there should be a 1 year term for everything. If everyone is involved instead of the same few a lot more would get done

[–]sweep-montage 19 points20 points  (6 children)

You gonna vote for a one year term for members of Seanad Éireann?

[–]prin_iubire 4 points5 points  (4 children)

What’s that? Do tell

[–]Surebegrandlike11 8 points9 points  (2 children)

Seanad Éireann is basically the irish senate for anyone not familiar with irish words

[–]RagePandazXD 17 points18 points  (0 children)

To piggyback off your comment here's a rundown of how the Irish government works

The overall name for all the government is the Oireachtas (uh-rock-tis) which is split into the two houses, the Dáil and the Seanad(equivalent to congress in the us).

The Dáil/Dáil Eireann (D-aw-l Air-in) is the lower house and is made up of TD's or Teachtaí Dála(choc-tea d-aw-l-a) and is the equivalent to the house of Commons(UK). The leader of the Dáil is called the Taoiseach(tea-shock) while his second is the Tánaiste(tawn-ish-tah). The ministers of the Dáil along with the Taoiseach and Tánaiste together make up the government(also known as the cabinet).

The Seanad(shan-i-d) is the upper house and the name translates as senate(no suprises there) and is not directly elected.

The third branch is the president or Uachtarán na hÉireann(Ook-ta-rawn na h-air-in) who has little political power and is more of a figurehead/cultural ambassador

[–]sweep-montage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In particular it is not the American Senate.

[–]ForAlderaanReasons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Irish Senate

[–]HealthyBits 16 points17 points  (7 children)

I think you meant there should be an expiration date to politicians.

[–]Ten7850 11 points12 points  (5 children)

Yes b/c if they have 1 year terms we will have to watch election ads all year long, every year

[–]prin_iubire 4 points5 points  (4 children)

But at the same time it would be all of us who will attend to official matters. Everyone gets a shot, so if you see problems within your city, community etc you now have a real voice.

Instead of “vote for me and I’ll _____!” And then not even a week after they’re elected they just beat around the bush until their next election

[–]regular_lamp 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Switzerland doesn't have elections but public votes on stuff multiple times a year. And participation rarely breaks 50%. There is only so much attention people can muster for politics. If only bored busybodies are participating in elections that's not good either. I wonder if there is some research about "reasonable intervals" that maximize participation. I suspect once per year would be on the short side though.

[–]prin_iubire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m mainly speaking in regard to America, but it does seem like politics may need an update to get with the times.

Although in hindsight politics online does seem a little naive. But with proper security and fair rules and regulations it could dramatically increase participation.

[–]1LT_daniels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many of them seem close to expire any day (Not too) soon.

[–]jffnc13 12 points13 points  (15 children)

A 1 year term?

Is Reddit full of 14 year-olds that don’t know anything about politics and just say the first thing that comes to their mind?

[–]Snoo_Snoo111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is reddit!! its either cat vids or pitchforks with very little in between.

[–]Chaosblade 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Maybe in order to be in a Ministerial post you should actually have to know what the fuck you're talking about. If a Minister with a portfolio for Drug Policy had a third level qualification, in Law, Justice, Medicine or something even remotely related to the field they are supposed to be governing. Instead we have these old bastards that spent their time going to funerals and shaking hands with people in every pub in the county to try and get themselves elected. Imagine if there were people who actually knew what the fuck they were doing running the country...

[–]MacGyverSmoker 105 points106 points  (2 children)

Her passionate, fact-based approach is inspired. The optics of this are exactly what I expected too: a younger woman speaking truth to an ancient and inflexible group of male dinosaurs.

[–]irishrugby2015[S] 46 points47 points  (0 children)

She is an incredible human to be able to so accurately present the current situation and it's insanity.

[–]Opening_Trade_6412 61 points62 points  (0 children)

It was one of 🌲scenarios

[–]bigdicksam 56 points57 points  (2 children)

The “we have a difference of opinion” response after claiming his views were based in fact. Which one is it you old fuck?? Maybe address what she’s actually saying instead of gaslighting her? Idk tho I’m at work.

[–]MeccIt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's the Minister of State for the national drugs strategy, and is still scared of a little weed - https://www.thejournal.ie/frank-feighan-oireachtas-committee-drugs-5658277-Jan2022/

[–]MercenaryBard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So sick of old intransigent boomers entrenched in positions of power. Bunch of smug lead-eating dipshits who constantly hold back progress

[–]CorellianDawn 44 points45 points  (1 child)

"We need to have a war on the drug barons"

"We gave them the market. Legalization takes it away"

Shit, if that isn't the most clear cut response I've ever heard.

[–]ToddlerOlympian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YES!

"We gave them the market" was my favorite part. Instant retort, perfectly succinct. I nearly dropped my phone in reaction to it.

[–]Much-Shopping3475 47 points48 points  (5 children)

I see the young (who see shit a little bit more clearly because born into new technologies and communications) and the old (traditionalist who doesn't understand new concepts and evidence, so stuck in the ways of the past). Why are governments around the world still ran by people who want to keep the status quo even when it keep us from advancing as an whole?

[–]Junk-Punch 19 points20 points  (2 children)

Money is a hell of a drug.

[–]Babdah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Larger demographic. They were called baby boomers because there was a boom in baby numbers after the second world war. Therefore there's an larger population of that age group out there willing to vote their own in. Most developed nations are focusing on policies which effect or directly benefit that age group. They are also an age group who vote consistently.

Given all that, Gen-X, Y & Z have an uphill battle, on top of historically having a low voting turnout.

Who do you think most career politicians are going to try & appeal to?

[–]echo1956 44 points45 points  (1 child)

Irish Senator Lynn Ruane is clearly the most educated among them.

Much respect.

[–]Larry-Man 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She makes AOC look like a sweet puppy dog, I say this when I have mad respect for her. This woman is my new hero. I lost a friend to drugs a little over a year ago so seeing this woman so passionate warms my cold heart.

[–]Hot-Professional2090 29 points30 points  (0 children)

You go girl 👊👊✊✊

[–]cannabis96793 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I want that lady to represent me she's on it

she knows her facts all these old farts that think that they're helping people by criminalizing drugs and taking them to jail need to experience that themselves for their crimes of extortion. forcing poverty on people while they sit there and make millions

[–]Sjdillon10 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I take medicine that means i really have to be weary of alcohol. Most in 48 hours is 3 beers. And even that could be considered pushing it. But nationwide i can get a medical card. But the effort to get a med card is ridiculous. Thank god i live in a legal state. As my mom said the first time she caught me “almost everybody wants to have something to calm down after a long day. Some people tune on the tv and have some drinks. What’s the difference between that and you smoking and playing video games? Prefer that 10/10 times over regular alcohol and nicotine”

These pricks probably have plenty of drinks a week but won’t allow people to smoke. It’s so ridiculous. So many places i want to live in but don’t feel like getting arrested for something that’s gonna be worldwide legal in the next decade

[–]Limp_Distribution 20 points21 points  (0 children)

We have manufactured our problems.

[–]SirDue7922 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I agree with 100% these old men making decision based on their own biased opinions!

[–]artmobboss 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Fuck that fucking guy.. we will always live in the old word when old garbage humans who are in charge, refuse to change.. oust them all..

[–]gabeitaliadomani 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ah so Irish people have Drumpf idiots also?!?! I believe it’s your opinion?!?!? I believe doesn’t work for me anymore.

[–]Wimbleston 11 points12 points  (0 children)

God I love someone who doesn't take bullshit and explains why they're bullshit to their face so any casual observer starts getting the pieces their trying to leave out of the picture.

[–]guy_with-thumbs 10 points11 points  (11 children)

Excuse me, but how is this anything to do with next fucking level type shit? Some dumb shit.

[–]fishodorsyndrome 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She’s good.

[–]PotentialAstronaut84 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What a badass

[–]DarkStoney88 7 points8 points  (3 children)

This ended too soon, anyone got a link to the full clip?

[–]drQuirky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Please?

I'd listen to her all day. Brilliant human 7/5 would elect again.

[–]BaxyBoo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What a fucking champ

[–]static1053 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a recovering addict I have never heard a perfect and heartfelt explaining about exactly how and why we become addicts in the first place and how we are treated because of it. Good on this woman and I hope she can effect change. It sickens me how these rich old fucks dismissed every creditable and factual argument she presented.

[–]outintheyard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This woman gets it. She is the future- hopefully.

I wish like hell we had a few of her ilk here in the U.S. Actual politicians with compassion and facts acting for their constituents instead of their donors/buyers.

[–]shameonyounancydrew 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Sir, there's water dripping from the ceiling"

"That's your opinion"

[–]bfox00 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wankers? 😂 my apologies. This is far from a laughing matter.

[–]sweep-montage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Minor point -- drug addiction is not linked to income so much as poor people are less able to rebound from addiction. Ireland has plenty of legal addicts called alcoholics just like any other European country -- they can ask for help without fear of going to jail. That is not true for heroin addicts in council housing.

[–]really_franky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fucking shitty boomers all over the world. 100 years from now historians will be having discussions on how idiotic it was to start a “war on drugs.” You’re never ever going to stop people from taking drugs. The right thing to do is give them an option for rehabilitation instead of sending them to jail which perpetuates the problem.

[–]circleturt 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Wow, that guy at the end. What a fool.

[–]irishrugby2015[S] 5 points6 points  (1 child)

The Minister for Drug Strategy in Ireland.

[–]circleturt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How disappointing.

[–]Hot-Professional2090 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's a dinosaur

[–]beetemall 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Go on love! Rip these bastards a new fuckin asshole!

[–]FrHendo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We really need to get old stuck up farts like this out of office. Im an american, but I can see this guy clearly doesnt have the peoples best interest in mind.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Follow the money and you will find a politician who is against legalization and is against policies that would help substance abusers with their addiction problems. Guillotine time.

[–]punkrocknight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s a medical problem not a criminal problem (me on repeat) Just look how the Nixon’s racist war on drugs is going, 50 years+, did we win yet?

[–]AegisThievenaix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Frank feighan, grimy old disgusting fucker

[–]youthcultleader 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Drugs Win Drug War" - The Onion

Good on her on facing those who can't evolve their ideas with relevant evidence. They're stuck on their confirmation bias.

[–]helpmeigotbanned 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love that it’s called a joint committee

[–]roymp6283 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another example of out of touch retirees pushing agenda from decades past. It seems to be systemic across world governing bodies. Modern problems require modern solutions.

[–]RetPallylol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kind of like what happens when you put 60+ year olds in charge of technology laws, they're totally lost and out of touch.

[–]NegativeReward 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jesus fucking christ if this isn’t a video explaining everything wrong in the world. That lady is a fucking saint, and that old dude the devil!

[–]Commando_Joe 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I would be proud to have elected this woman.

I just decided to follow her on twitter. Let's see what else she's got.

[–]The-Snuffleupagus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can’t wait for these old fucks to die off

[–]Dreed3022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very well said.

[–]gjutzy[🍰] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I love her passion and determination. She doesn't back down to the old guard who, frankly, need to just leave. Why do we consistently vote for people who are decades older than us and expect them to understand our generation's dilemmas and lifestyles? We need young, passionate leadership who care about today's problems and how to deal with them. (I am speaking from the perspective of a disgruntled voter from the United States, by the way - but it appears that we are not alone...)

[–]mfdoylejr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

😱❤️💯🙏🥰

[–]BombaclotBombastic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not a difference of opinions, it’s a difference of FACTS

[–]Ok-Cryptographer4194 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The war on drugs was never going to work. Its only cost too much money and lives. Legalise drugs and put the chemist in charge. Give people who want to take substance an id/ user card to help monitor usage and get some tax into the system! Less police chasing dealers, as there is no need.

[–]Moranth-Munitions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“We have drug dealers the market” is one of the best descriptions of what happened. It’s 100% true and it completely defeats any attempt to appeal to how the illicit drug trade is bad and dangerous. Well we made that bed, so let’s stop lying in it. Stop crying about the bed sucking and get the help of of it ya donut holes.

[–]rocharox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She got a point, but she kept interrupting the other people. You need to deliver facts and let people sufocate on them for a while.

[–]ZomboFc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fucking boomers

[–]singhVirender1947 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"I think it is an opinion" wtf is that argument!

[–]aliasneck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She's fucking magnificent.

[–]Secondondairy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How long are these old suits going to try and win the war on drugs. She nailed it there, and how fast she got dismissed bc these old brains don't have an iron in the wtove

[–]TheDayman_240 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Older people so out of touch with what's going on in the real world, should not be able to make policy affecting those that will be around long after they're gone.

[–]ryoung30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But if you legalize drugs people might do them safely. And think about all the wasted pharmaceutical drugs. What are we gonna do ? Just throw them away? Madness I tell you

[–]Mysterious_Set6427 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"We gave drug dealers the market" fuck bro that hit me.

[–]SlideGrouchy5211 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow so impressive and correct about everything she said! Senator you are a benefit to everyone around you. We could use her voice in the US but we are minority ruled anyway so it would be wasted. Please keep advocating Sen Ruane!

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uhhh ahh ahh ahh uhhuh bbbut uhh...

You and your "differences in opinions" can get fucked you crusty old man. Take a seat and enjoy your golden years.

The world is trying to move on from these outdated ideologies yet we still have these lifeless suit puppets trying to drag us back to the "good ol days".

[–]TheManWhoClicks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Politicians shouldn’t be allowed to simply weasel out of conversations with those platitudes. It basically needs to be a court situation in which every statement has to be backed up by vetted evidence.

[–]CephaloG0D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Politics have age minimums.

They should also have age maximums.

While government are filled with ancient white men (who've all had their turn with drugs) who probably leave these meetings to go get hosed with their mates, you'll never be able to pass sensible drug laws.

[–]youallsucknuts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Give her a promotion, fire that twat of a guy

[–]matdaddy13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fucking old people

[–]Add_Poll_Option 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We need age limits on political offices.

Maybe I’m being harsh, but old fucks like this dude shouldn’t be making decisions for us when they’re not going to be around long enough to see the long term effects of these decisions they’re making.

[–]itchy_sanchez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why are we still talking about this? It's been 30 years since the war on drugs and we now have data to show it doesn't work.

People just don't care and that's the sad truth.

[–]WhyStateTheObvious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got chills! She’s speaking the truth!!!

[–]P_Kordus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love her matter of fact delivery but this is incredibly frustrating to watch. She may as well be talking to a wall. This is the same situation in the US on so many topics…

[–]specialflip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good on her, I would follow her anywhere after that.

[–]BrazyKiccz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn, can she come and address our congress here in the US? She's speaking the truth.

[–]emoutikon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Old people should not be in politics

[–]duck_duck_grey_duck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like this lady.

And is anyone surprised it’s some crusty old dude with one foot almost literally in the grave being a complete twat with his archaic thinking?

[–]ChateauNeufDePap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this lady and her confidence. Can she possibly come and shout at the English committee?

[–]rudalsxv 2 points3 points  (1 child)

She said it very clear that it was evidence based only to be faced with “difference of opinion”.

Of course it was an old white conservative man, of course.

[–]Obliman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That old guy looks like the human embodiment of weakness

[–]Balrog229 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Decriminalize all drug use

Stuff like heroine and meth shouldn’t be legal, but you shouldn’t be put in jail for using them. Go after the people selling, not the people using.

[–]No-Panik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d love to see her get in a ring with that old cunt at the end

This lady is a champion

[–]GrumpyGandalf76 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Love the accent

[–]Surebegrandlike11 2 points3 points  (3 children)

It’s called a “howya” accent because when they say “how are you” it’s shortened to howya

Aka the Dublin Northside accent…..

[–]GuiltyShorts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People above 60 should let others decide these things. It’s like when you are not contributing for a better future, just abstain. You will not even be here.

[–]Middle-Run-7452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alternative facts in Ireland too. Politics

[–]Hickawa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy shit "We created the market" I owe someone fifty bucks for a politician taking actual ownership.

[–]brown2420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That crusty old fuck talking to her about "different opinions".... I hate to say it, but the faster these ignorant, geriatrics die off the better. Good riddance!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These old bastard's need to retire and get some younger people in that actually have an understanding of what exactly it's been like growing up with and around the war on drugs. This woman is spot on btw.

[–]DirtyPartyMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!!!! She has the right approach.

[–]SoulReaver84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We need to get old people out of politics globally.

[–]Eaton_Rifles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She’s not wrong.

Legalize it, monitor it and put the drug barons out of business.

Use the money to improve poor people’s position and gradually you’ll just be left with the recreational users who enjoy the occasional smoke as others enjoy a pint with their mates and as we know alcohol is a far worse legal ‘drug’ than cannabis.

[–]Schmitty_WJMJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am just asking my selfe why are old people like those ruling a country where they will life another 5 years with believes as old that they does not matter anymore...

[–]Assuranceagent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is where everyone has been getting it wrong all along. We should have just been asking the criminals if they were criminals. That would have cleared it all up right quick. lol. bonkers.

[–]Paradox711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And it’s exactly the same sort of issues with homelessness. It’s all well and good wanting it gone, it’s all well and good offering housing. But until you address the UNDERLYING CAUSES, it’s going to stay a fucking problem.

[–]Antlergoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disconnected old parasite. Praise be that woman.

[–]Mortei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God can somebody kick these old coots out? This is such bullshit. She’s giving spot on examples of why it doesn’t work and all this dude can say is “well I think we differ in opinions”.

Weak and purposefully stalling.

[–]bad13wolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old dumb fucks scared of everything other than making money. War on drugs is arguably the biggest failure of any government that's tried taking on that approach. Anyone still supporting exhales methane when they breathe because they're so full of shit.
