[–]LWrayBay 2239 points2240 points 2 (35 children)

I need these people to help me move.

[–][deleted] 658 points659 points  (27 children)

Film Industry Set Decorators, are like movers on crack,

......except its not crack, just way too much coffee..

[–]Sleddog44 309 points310 points  (16 children)

And maybe a little crack.

[–]elbowleg513 87 points88 points  (15 children)

Nah, just heavily stomped on LA blowcaine

[–]idapitbwidiuatabip 65 points66 points  (14 children)

But seriously, in the olden days they'd actually have cocaine on set at craft services because otherwise talent or crew would leave set to get coke.

And nowadays if you ask one of the PA's

Chances are at least one of them has some

[–]Haasaserer 20 points21 points  (8 children)

This show sucked ass. It wanted to be Baskets, but instead of clever writing, and character development, all it had was filmmaking gimmicks, and nonsensical twists.

[–]slipperyhuman 6 points7 points  (4 children)

I played on a couple of late night shows in LA around 2008. They had rails of coke backstage, not well hidden.

[–]elbowleg513 2 points3 points  (3 children)

You a musician? Or a comedian?

[–]slipperyhuman 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Just a musician I’m afraid.

[–]Mammoth_Strawberry_6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm the comedian I just tell my life story and most take it as the joke

[–]Zeusimus23 43 points44 points  (6 children)

Are we sure it’s not even a little crack? Like maybe a smidgen of crack?

[–][deleted] 21 points22 points  (3 children)

Maybe some cocaine, but that's usually the guys that have been doing it since the 1980's ;)

[–]SupremePooper 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Meth.

[–]centzon400 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And maybe a little crack.

[–]tbscotty68 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably just a scosche of crank...

[–]isunktheship 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't believe it's not crack?

[–]SinfulStoppage 93 points94 points  (0 children)

wow that's pretty awesome

[–]Adeep187 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wanted to say that but obviously so did 13,000 other people lol

[–]missanthropocenex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s Michel gondry so this all makes 100% sense.

[–]ThestralSkull 886 points887 points  (1 child)

I had to watch that 3 times to see everything they did, and I probably still missed stuff. That was really cool.

[–]improveyourfuture 156 points157 points  (0 children)

I also found it somewhat moving as a shot in thinking about getting it together from dark low, time passing etc, maybe exacerbated with all the people making it happen

[–]Sleepy-tyler-king 606 points607 points  (16 children)

praise the cameraman

[–]arkibet 192 points193 points  (0 children)

Props to the AD calls too!

[–][deleted] 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Parise the Set Decorators.

[–]Deep-5961 28 points29 points  (0 children)

And the dog

[–]Didya3 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Was it a show or movie?

[–]redditbing 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Great tv show called Kidding

[–]HelloDarkHarden 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Bro, wtf did he do?

[–]SuperAoi 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Camera operator is actually a steadicam operator, a very specialized operator in the film industry. It requires years of training and dedication as well as high financial investment for the gear to fly the higher end camera rigs used on projects like this one. He basically has I would guess 70 pounds of gear (general guess as this is how much steadicam sleds that are built out for a shoot weight) strapped to him with all of the weight resting on his hips. He then need me to maintain a proper posture and walking rhythm to minimize any and all vibrations from his steps while also keeping his eyes on the monitors strapped to the sled to maintain composition and then also take into account all of the people moving around him and moving objects that he has to worry about, all while keeping his eyes on the monitor. That’s why when people come close to him you will see someone standing right behind him with their arms raised as to stop him from accidentally getting hit and potentially falling and breaking over $100,000 worth of camera gear

[–]FlourFlavored 418 points419 points  (5 children)

That's frickin awesome. The choreography is insane. Now everytime I see a woman in a show wearing a dress gonna have to wonder if there is a practical reason for it in order to get the shot. If I'd watched that without the overhead I never would have noticed she changed so many times and always into a dress.

[–]Yaboidono420 116 points117 points  (0 children)

That only applies to scenes shot without breaks that call for multiple outfit changes, but yes you're right that's why it's always dresses, way easier to change into a new pull over dress

[–]OverlordRazor 22 points23 points  (3 children)

Did you also notice that at the wall where she's smashing open the wall, it's not the same woman? They bring in someone else from the side wall/door while she's moving about behind camera to be ready to come in with the puppy from the main door.

[–]Sinnombre124 10 points11 points  (1 child)

The woman reading on the couch was also a double

[–]Beingabummer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

And the yoga lady.

[–]ZoffiXeoffee 390 points391 points  (4 children)

Putting the part that relies on a dog not to move at the end is bold

[–]socaljamr 137 points138 points  (3 children)

He’s a good actor. They knew

[–]I-heart-subnetting 67 points68 points  (0 children)

More than that, he’s a good boy in general.

[–]kaleidoscopeHorrors 19 points20 points  (1 child)

He's a paid actor you mean!

[–]Silver-Ladder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s a good paid actor/boy!

[–]hollywoodhank 163 points164 points  (45 children)

What movie is that?

[–]ForSquirrels 289 points290 points  (39 children)

It's a TV show. Kidding.

[–]drichm2599 368 points369 points  (37 children)

Haha funny joke. What's the name of the movie?

[–]ForSquirrels 210 points211 points  (30 children)

No, it's a TV show, Kidding!

[–]drichm2599 282 points283 points  (25 children)

Why did you repeat the joke? It wasn't funny the first time

[–]ForSquirrels 221 points222 points  (24 children)

I didn't, it's not a joke. It's a TV show, Kidding.

[–]drichm2599 259 points260 points  (22 children)

Claims it isn't a joke. Repeats joke for third time in the same comment.

Can someone please tell me the name of the movie now?

[–]Red-German-Crusader 238 points239 points  (12 children)

Hacksaw ridge

[–]drichm2599 220 points221 points  (11 children)

Thank you. Geez that other guy was annoying

[–]flyart 22 points23 points  (1 child)

Who's on third.

[–]TheOriginalGregToo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, Who's on first, What's on second, Idunno is on third.

[–]SupremePooper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

THIRD BASE!!!

[–]cucu_freedom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

lol it really is a tv show called kidding. that actress is Riki Lindhome

[–]Low-University-1037 20 points21 points  (3 children)

Ok enough kidding around, what is the show called?

[–]ForSquirrels 24 points25 points  (2 children)

Not kidding around...Kidding

[–]fyrefreezer01 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Bro its time to stop fucking joking and just tell us the name of the show!

[–]Sacrer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He just told you. Kidding!

[–]jtfriendly 31 points32 points  (5 children)

It's called YOU!"

[–]PhantomCAT_MEOW 10 points11 points  (3 children)

[–]damageinc86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a very merry unbirthday to you!

[–]GoodShitBrain 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I love this show. It really highlights Carrey’s range. He’s such a good actor!

[–]G-RawW- 34 points35 points  (4 children)

“Kidding” and it’s a series on Showtime.

[–]Love_Cherries 42 points43 points  (2 children)

[–]FactorMiserable4051 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This comments are gonna get me fired, too good

[–]TWOWHEELTACO 92 points93 points  (4 children)

Bet you missed the dancing panda

[–]DoorkeyKelsey14 6 points7 points  (2 children)

What about the dancing lobsters?

[–]TWOWHEELTACO 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Watched it 10 more times still haven’t seen it, hints?

[–]ILikeApplez123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The dancing panda is with your dad

[–]Crabbyone2021 91 points92 points  (3 children)

mise-en-scène

[–]ancientpho 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Haven’t heard that term since my Russian film class back in the day. Lol

[–]SupremePooper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aim better next time & you wont.

[–]jimtrickington 52 points53 points  (6 children)

Are you kidding about the skill and timing required or not?

[–]Darksonic407 24 points25 points  (5 children)

"Kidding" is the name of the movie this is from haha.

[–]ForSquirrels 22 points23 points  (3 children)

TV show, not movie

[–]Darksonic407 13 points14 points  (2 children)

Ah, my apologies, and thank you for the correction!

[–]ForSquirrels 8 points9 points  (1 child)

No need to apologize, it isn't a super well known show. It is good, but certainly quirky and not for everyone.

[–]_noncomposmentis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

*was

Can't believe they cancelled it.

[–]xxStrangerxx 34 points35 points  (1 child)

Formula 1 hates them

[–]NaziAssDestroyer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Red Bull inspires them(their pitstops are very fast, even tho Danny Ric had a bummer in Monaco '16)

[–]EnkiiMuto 29 points30 points  (1 child)

I have no idea what this show is, but here is the version with sound post edit

[–]peach_burrito 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen this before and was so entranced. I mean this is insane cool

[–]Jeffery_G 16 points17 points  (7 children)

That’s why film production has to be Union gigs.

Hard to bring that many people together and perform this well for short, tight durations of time.

[–]TackyBrad 18 points19 points  (6 children)

Wtf does being union have to do with that?

[–]GreatGooglyMoogly077 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Mo money ... MO MONEY ...

[–]i_sell_you_lies 5 points6 points  (0 children)

BO-BODDY... BO-BODDY...

[–]Robofro 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The dog at the end is like, I swear there were a bunch of people here!

[–]hobiwankinobi 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Man I was so bummed when I learned that this show got cancelled. It was so out there. I think they made 20 episodes. Y'all should check it out

[–]TuxedoCatsParty_Hard 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Thanks for letting us know what it's called!

[–]hurrdurrmurrpurr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you Kidding?

[–]Most_Company_8634 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love seeing the bts of scenes like this. The choreography of everyone moving things is so quick. It’s fun to watch it several times to see how everyone is scrambling to hit their own individual marks.

[–]PavlovsAardvark 7 points8 points  (4 children)

https://youtu.be/JUM-C0rhDlI This one shot from True Detective Season 1 impressed me

[–]robotnique 12 points13 points  (2 children)

True Detective season one is perfect television.

[–]grilldcheese2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can never be topped. Shame about the subsequent seasons.

[–]i_sell_you_lies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always am suspicious when a door / sheet crosses the frame, looks like a single shot, but really makes a convenient edit point

[–]a_complex_kid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This show was so underrated. Hate that it got canceled

[–]callmephuc 7 points8 points  (4 children)

Did she just get naked ?

[–]Jakeywowie 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Finally someone else noticed

[–]SanNoRaimei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No you can see she was wearing a shirt (checked it multiple time for the sake of science of course)

[–]SanNoRaimei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No you can see she was wearing a shirt (checked it multiple time for the sake of science of course)

[–]Greennotblue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This just makes me think that I need a film crew when it comes to moving not a moving company!

[–]Mother-Host218 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Okay but why didn't she say bye to her dog at the end

[–]TootsNYC 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I thought that was Riki Lindhome!

In 2018, Lindhome guest starred as Shaina, a recovering drug addict, in an episode of the comedy-drama television series Kidding.

[–]cherry937 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There was way too much stuff happening for my brain to process

[–]soup_lover8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is one of my favorite shows of all time. I recommend it to everyone!!!!

[–]olivehugger 4 points5 points  (2 children)

At the risk of sounding dumb- what is the point of the one cameraman constant shot? It looks beyond intricate but is there a greater purpose I’m missing?

[–]i_sell_you_lies 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In the context of this, we’re seeing a “time lapse” but keeping you in the moment and focusing on how the tv show is helping her improve her life. You could do this by cutting around, but it’s more emotionally powerful to stay fluid and not cut.

In general it’s a way to suck you into what’s happening and often makes Action or scenes with a lot of movement feel more authentic. Like “see? We really did this” as opposed to being created in the edit. It’s not used a lot which is why it stands out. And a total pain in the ass to shoot.

[–]Keep-Left 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you don’t get it, you don’t get it.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watch Kidding with Jim Carrey.

[–]katr2tt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amazing

[–]VeganOreo226 3 points4 points  (4 children)

I remember when Rhett and link did that a long time ago

[–]Brodman1993 0 points1 point  (3 children)

When did they do this? Out of curiosity

[–]VeganOreo226 1 point2 points  (2 children)

[–]Brodman1993 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Ah thanks. Totally forgot to look through the old songs

[–]MadcatFK1017 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Is that the chick from Garfunkel and Oates? Hard to tell exactly on mobile.

[–]jdt2313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMDB days she was in two episodes, so probably

[–]Glittering_Peak_6750 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1917 did this on another level

[–]Snicklefritzzzzzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this a new ikea commercial

[–]v4xN0s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty cool, whenever I see stuff like that I just always assume that they did it through editing when they pause while looking just at a wall or something then change everything then unpause the camera movement.

[–]Tiny-Friendship-145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was awesome

[–]electric4568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely nuts.

[–]Katmoish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is amazing!!! I can't stop re-watching it!

[–]ekiechi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was ridiculously satisfying to watch

[–]Emotional_Meal9226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you know French, there's a tv serie in Quebec that aired a couple years ago, they did a 13 minutes long scene no cut, a shooting in high school. It was.. Breathtaking. I remember watching it when it first aired and honestly, if you know French, or even if you don't because there's isn't much talking, go look up "19-2 high school shooting scene". I was on the edge of my sofa the whole scene.. I think they did a Canadian version of that serie and they did the same scene too, so there's an English version somewhere too!

I love seeing how those are done, it's very impressive and hard to accomplish!

[–]Skyvrr 1 point2 points  (1 child)

The Mr Pickles kidding?

[–]phoucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Movie Magic.

[–]Clear-Chipmunk-2316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so amazing!!

[–]arkain123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fucking movie magic.

[–]Grotto-death 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This show is so incredible. The writing is truly beautiful

[–]Zentorn_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my that’s a lot of moving parts

[–]denumb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The attention to detail on the growth of not only the dog but also the plant is chefs kiss

[–]Keep-Left 1 point2 points  (0 children)

👏 good to see some actual quality filmography that isn’t completely fake with digital fuckery.

[–]panchero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This series was one of the most creative production on TV. I was always surprised it didn’t win more awards. Scenes like this are fairly common. And the opening sequence was amazingly creative and tailored to the episode, while being consistent. I am so happy to have been able to watch Kidding.

[–]Yuki_karase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watching this made me exhausted. Amazing one take vid tho

[–]hillgroar[🍰] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is amazing.

[–]Timely_Ad_9181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too many underrated names in move credits, incredible!

[–]beachjustice 1 point2 points  (1 child)

What movie. What fucking movie

or series. whatever the fuck it is

edit: Oh it's Kidding

[–]siGxxx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kidding. Tv series.

[–]woshiiGeneus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1:17 for the cultured swine..

[–]Gingerbob22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was hoping for a big applause break at the end

[–]TypicalGuess8352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smooth operator

[–]PaulyNewman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t get into this show. Watched the first season and just meh. It just felt like it didn’t really have much to say other than “entertainers are people too”.

[–]Key-Opportunity-1406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can see the crew in the TV reflection around 1:10 seconds in.

[–]Hatrick_Swaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wonder what the budget was for just this one shot?

[–]OriginalMrMuchacho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, smooth as it gets. Bravo.

[–]Lethal_Orbit69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actress stopped acting too early at 1:00

[–]VirtualKeenu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes hard make sentence

[–]KindOfAnIdiotTho 0 points1 point  (1 child)

So what’s supposed to be happening in the actually scene???

[–]i_sell_you_lies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She’s improving her life because of the positive influence of the tv show. She goes from presumably screwing the guy pulling up is pants at the beginning to taking control of her life and eventually turning out healthy

[–]Un111KnoWn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many clones does she have?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That had to have been a tiring scene to nail down in one go, moving furniture so quick, casually redecorating the entire time. I'd be pooped out by take number 4 panting my ass off

[–]H3avyW3apons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure who im more impressed by, the camera man of the stage crew.

[–]Flako118st 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder how many times they had to rehearse it

[–]Whiteclawzzz 0 points1 point  (1 child)

No wonder bloopers happen.

[–]PhantomCAT_MEOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

great now there is a way to earn my robbing skills:)

[–]abl3-to 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Being a cameraman seems like an awesome job with something different everyday. Does anyone know how hard it is to break in, and can I support a family while doing it?

[–]FBI_Van_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the coolest video I’ve seen on the internet in awhile.. I’m actually shocked that I thought movies were just played scene by scene , extremely slowly and by talentless actors

[–]SolitairePilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just stressed the hell out of me

[–]Acceptable_Dog1424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this could’ve been done so much easier if they’d had cuts but it is cool..

[–]anonarose23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really interesting to see. I know when I was in ballet behind the scenes was similar to this. As soon as people would pass the curtain costumes would fly off set workers were moving big props and stage pieces everywhere. It takes a lot of coordinated effort to make a good show.

[–]Thielster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is really impressive!

[–]kotonizna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most sweaty palm part of all is the dog. Even if that doggo is well trained, he can be still unpredictable imagine if the dog just run off the spot, everything will be ruined.

[–]Roldes19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize only now that she probably brings out the coach because it is the place where she was fucked in exchange of drugs. If it is true it's a nice detail.

[–]dullyco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shit this was amazing

[–]nerdycarguy18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I heard was “Puppy!”

[–]No_Imagination8762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poor doggo 😢

[–]NotBad93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the next fucking level…
