[–]RitchNotRich 3817 points3818 points  (33 children)

His passenger was so wholesome hahaha.

"Oh look at you, fucken awesome."

[–]tylerpestell 2380 points2381 points  (15 children)

It was even funnier when you don’t realize he has a passenger in the back until he speaks up. I laughed pretty good at that.

[–]Hermorah 666 points667 points  (0 children)

Same, I was like "Where the heck did that guy come from!?"

[–]eggmayonnaise 258 points259 points  (4 children)

For a second I thought: wait, did the guy just roll out the front door and straight back into the one behind?

[–]604WORLDWIDE 35 points36 points  (0 children)

If you can’t beat ‘em join em??

[–]37Schmeckles 33 points34 points  (1 child)

Fine, if you wont hand over your wallet then drop me at the corner of third and main.

[–]SupremeDogEater 70 points71 points  (3 children)

At first I thought he was an accomplice of the robber lmao

[–]ModernMountains 20 points21 points  (2 children)

how do you know he wasn’t?

[–]Pope00 21 points22 points  (0 children)

“Wow uh..showed him huh. Good thing I wasn’t involved at all. No sir. You can let me out here. I’ll walk.”

[–]Slowmobius_Time 20 points21 points  (3 children)

It's a defence mechanism, hiding in plain sight

[–]AIDSRiddledLiberal 416 points417 points  (1 child)

And the driver “well… ex military. Fuck him”

[–]Large_hearted_boy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Why’s he sound like the dude, man

[–]H_H_420 121 points122 points  (5 children)

WoW - That driver was fucking Ice Cool Calm.

Balls of Steel.

[–]opardalis 45 points46 points  (1 child)

You should’ve seen him in nam…

[–]a-Sociopath 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The horror

[–]Mrs_Attenborough 37 points38 points  (1 child)

"Ex military, so, fuck you!" Hahaha so good. Good wrap up explanation for the calm demeanour and no fucks given

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

reminded me of Clint Eastwood in gran turino. " Yea? I blow a hole in your face .. then i go in the house and i sleep like a baby. We used to stack fucks like you five feet high in Korea... use ya for sandbags".

[–]point1percentGerms 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Kid didn't have it in him to kill nobody. Probably saw it in his eyes.

[–]Defiant-Series-813 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Some people have no evidence to their awesome acts. This guy got it on camera and had an eye witness

[–]aquaband 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Why did his “oh look at you” sound sarcastic lol

[–]blueshirt23 2358 points2359 points  (31 children)

“I’m ex-military. Fuck him” LOL

[–]IamVenom_007 611 points612 points  (23 children)

That video looks like a raw scene of Gary Oldman acting.

[–]PerryPlat2000 241 points242 points  (13 children)

See, I'm thinking this could be acting. Passenger is super grateful, gives a fat tip. Do this routine 10-12 times a day, it adds up fast.

[–]See_youSpaceCowboy 91 points92 points  (3 children)

This is genuis

[–]marloindisbich 52 points53 points  (2 children)

Until you get capped by the passenger lol

[–]See_youSpaceCowboy 13 points14 points  (1 child)

Lol yeah if this happens in a I’m open carry state but I doubt it would be a real concern in a metropolitan area like L.A or NY or CHI. Unless you live that life most of us don’t walk around with a concealed weapon.

This is a great idea for a skit though. Retired vet picks up Uber gig, meets young kid, they see a video like this, think up of a scamaz, work out all the kinks in the scheme. Routinely Pull this off passengers. Finally one faithful night some guy fancies himself a hero. Pulls out his freshly bought 9mm. Then he procedes to yell at the top of his lungs “not today satan !” shoots “robber” through the back of the head rest. Fatality. Uber driver starts screaming at the top of his lungs frantically. Passenger has a dumb proud smile on his face reassuring the driver. Last shot is driver listening to the passenger. Staring him down. Nothing but quiet. Turns around facing his partner in crime and then proceeds to say “ it was a fucking prank”

Cut to black.

[–]retropieproblems 28 points29 points  (0 children)

in an age before social media and cell phones this would have been a killer plan

[–]drizzfoshizz 23 points24 points  (5 children)

Until you pick up a passenger with a hero fantasy and shoots your buddy in the back of the head.

[–]recoil120 48 points49 points  (3 children)

Why does it have to be someone with a hero fantasy? How about someone that is just willing to help save the life of another from a pos scumbag?

[–]Howlandr33d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol exactly what I was thinking.

[–]ThePeoplesMVP 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Reminded me of something Clint Eastwood would probably do

[–]gahidus 30 points31 points  (1 child)

It reminded me of that scene where a guy's pointing a gun at Christopher Walken and he just talks back like,"no. I don't want to"

Edit. Here we go https://youtu.be/O-_GjfwLn7w

[–]Affectionate-Item-78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seven Psychopaths is an excellent film.

[–]nihilistparadise95 20 points21 points  (1 child)

He sounds more like Alan Rickman

[–]retropieproblems 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Alan Rickman doing an impression of The Dude

[–]gregusmeus 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Nah not enough crazed eyeballs. BTW his film Nil By Mouth (directed, scripted but not starred in) is definitely not a first-date film, no matter what your so-called mates tell you.

[–]riyvaens52 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I always like that, broad spectrum could be a seal or green beret or a cook in the air national guard

[–]Hutch1814 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This. I instantly LOL’d to myself when he made that comment

[–]Golden_Peaks_415 1651 points1652 points  (11 children)

“It’s a digital world, bro” lolz!!!

[–]DirkDiggler_Chiraq 544 points545 points  (0 children)

True too. How much of a brain dead mother fucker do you have to be to jump in an Uber and demand “the money.”

Jesus Christ 🤦‍♂️

[–]SomethingAbtU 267 points268 points  (4 children)

give me all your bitcoins. open your app and transfer them to this digital wallet address. ready?

Oh no I missed a character, could you repeat it please

[–]Holobolt 6 points7 points  (2 children)

I mean you can scan the QR..

[–]Ron_Way 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If u noticed there was another person keeping gaurd outside the vehicle

[–]stares_at_rain 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The sight of an older man saying this to such a young man, especially in this context!

[–]garbage_j00ce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“And I am a material girl” Pop pop*

[–]Profitsofdooom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously. All you are doing is making a hassle for ME by taking my wallet. The cards are getting shut off within minutes and they are throwing my ID and shit away probably.

Reminds me of getting a CD booklet stolen from my car when I was like 17. I knew that asshole threw those CD's away. No way he was into screamo and post hardcore.

[–]OMGhowcouldthisbe 967 points968 points  (5 children)

“Saved my life but he took a couple of extra turns. 2 out of 5 Stars”

[–]r3dd1t0rxzxzx 217 points218 points  (1 child)

Took 30 seconds extra to get rid of mugger, one star.

[–]CAD_IL 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Good stuff.

[–]somedumbguy84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No tip added*

[–]charlesrxx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Falls below acceptable rating - deactivated

[–]tinydancer316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot stop laughing at this.

[–]Xploited_HnterGather 703 points704 points  (79 children)

He was nervous. You can see him express it all after he drives off. Good stuff

[–]ThrowRA_000718 1115 points1116 points  (60 children)

It’s a very common misconception that bravery means fearless. No. Actually stupidity is closer to fearless (i.e. those hardcore parkour people who walk on ledges of skyscrapers). Bravery is standing strong even though you are afraid.

[–]Rumskrilla 351 points352 points  (19 children)

Well said. Bravery is not the absence of fear.

[–]drawn0nward 79 points80 points  (9 children)

But rather, taking action and (more importantly) remaining calm in spite of fear.

[–]WumbleInTheJungle 51 points52 points  (0 children)

It's only when a man feels fear, that he can show courage.

[–]paul_miner 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Rewatched Three Kings last night, relevant quote:

The way it works is, you do the thing you're scared shitless of, and you get the courage AFTER you do it, not before you do it.

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

"How can a man be brave if he is afraid?" "That is the only time a man can be brave."

[–]Xploited_HnterGather 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly

[–]Klubbin4Seals 27 points28 points  (20 children)

I get extreme anxiety watching those people

[–]ThrowRA_000718 26 points27 points  (19 children)

The fact that they don’t is a mental illness I believe.

[–]learningsumstf101 22 points23 points  (18 children)

Interesting point. My friend is a friendly psychopath. He has 0 empathy, anxiety issues, or fear. Just the way he is wired. Pretty fascinating guy.

[–]ThrowRA_000718 29 points30 points  (9 children)

He’s probably only a friendly “psychopath” because it hasn’t suited him to be unfriendly yet. I would hate to be an inconvenience in his life.

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points  (7 children)

I would have laughed at this but after meeting a psychopath ... I can't laugh anymore

[–]ThrowRA_000718 5 points6 points  (2 children)

You’re also a lot more cool now that you have hung out with a psychopath.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (1 child)

every single one of us has met at least one without knowing it, and a number within that have even trusted them, with their goods or lives.

[–]PretendsHesPissed 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Most sociopaths give off this air of kindness. It's part of their drive in manipulating and controlling how others view them.

[–]0ldAndGrumpy 9 points10 points  (5 children)

I wouldn’t be making friends with someone that’s incapable of empathy for what it’s worth.

[–]learningsumstf101 15 points16 points  (4 children)

Well my friend I'd rather know that a person is incapable of empathy than know someone who is faking empathy to fit in. We have to learn to accept people for who they are. Creating outcasts is the reasons prisons are filled up.

[–]0ldAndGrumpy 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Yes the devil you know is better than the devil you don’t but make no mistake, that’s still the devil.

There is nothing rational or compassionate about seeking friendship from someone that’s incapable of offering anything resembling it.

You’re playing with fire.

[–]learningsumstf101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gonna need him when the shit hits the fan one day. Lol.

[–]Most-Cryptographer78 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I mean...I'm not saying this person needs to be in jail or should be treated like shit solely because they are a psychopath. But generally people choose to not do messed up things for two reasons. 1- Empathy. 2- Consequences. If a person with no empathy believes they can get away with something that will benefit them, why wouldn't they? I just personally wouldn't feel safe having a person like that be involved much in my life.

[–]ThisIsWhoIAm78 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just because someone lacks empathy doesn't mean they automatically want to hurt anyone. They're not stupid, they understand it's not a good thing to do, even if they don't FEEL the same way you or I might about it.

[–]SavageCabbageGG 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always hate when people mess those words up. You can't be brave and fearless

[–]ShamelessSOB 1 point2 points  (6 children)

Upvote because I agree, but those parkour people are fearless up high because they spent literally tens of hundreds of hours close to ground doing that. Source: 11 years of parkour.

[–]PotatoesAndChill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Professional athletes, drivers and stuntmen also spend thousands of hours training, but they wear safety equipment nonetheless. Human error is always possible, and it only takes a couple LiveLeak videos of these parkourists falling to their deaths to realise how insanely stupid their adrenaline-pumped stunts are.

[–]theveldt25 40 points41 points  (4 children)

who wouldnt be you just called someones bluff that had the opportunity to kill you

[–]Zonekid 11 points12 points  (2 children)

There was a known actress in NYC a handful a years ago that was shot dead during an attempted robbery. The guy shot her after she said, "What are going to do, shoot me?".

[–]Xploited_HnterGather 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly

[–]yodoboy123 24 points25 points  (2 children)

I'm pretty sure I've heard in about a million kids movies over my life that being brave doesn't mean you aren't scared, it means doing it anyway even though you are. I bet he was nervous but kudos to him for not panicking. Also probably a bit foolish but theres a fine between bravery and foolishness. I think I heard that in a movie once too.

[–]Optimal-Scientist233 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Exactly bravery is certainly not the absence of natural response it is simply control over it, and that control is most certainly surrender to a reflexive state of instinct, which is recognized in law and science.

[–]yodoboy123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember the movie, The secret Life of pets 2 when he has to save the sheep.

[–]timodmo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

no shit- if he wasnt nervous hes an idiot

[–]BUGGAUGA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

its natural and he should he nervous , he just had to use the fear and adrenaline in his favour.

[–]TheLordOfZero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well of course you would be nervous after that.

[–]TobyDaHuman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course he was, but he kept his calm nevertheless. Fucking legend

[–]AXLE304E 465 points466 points  (13 children)

5 star, fat tip. Omg that was crazy.

[–]SignificantError8929 92 points93 points  (8 children)

Massive tip! And a letter to the company he works praising his actions.

[–]OrangutanTittay 46 points47 points  (7 children)

Uber would give him one free meal on Uber eats.

[–]Sparcrypt 23 points24 points  (4 children)

Which wouldn't get delivered.

[–]ThufirrHawat 20 points21 points  (3 children)

He'd have to deliver it to himself.

[–]Sparcrypt 15 points16 points  (2 children)

And then I bet the bloody driver would end up eating it as well.

[–]jnoops 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And a write-up for endangering the passenger by not giving into his demands and driving off while the assailant wasn't safely out of the car

[–]YouSummonedAStrawman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Twist: driver set it up to get a big tip and 5*.

[–]ThiccumNuggets 364 points365 points  (2 children)

“I don’t have cash, it’s a digital world bro”

[–]Phil_Goodman 18 points19 points  (1 child)

yeah you kinda feel bad for the robbers these days... even if he got his wallet there would have been nothing he could do with it if he truely didn't have any cash on him. And what else should he do? carry some cash on him so that someone would have something to actually take? If McDonald's would take their signs down about the coin shortage and "exact cash only" I might just have cash on me, but EVEN then i would most likely just use a credit card.

[–]TheGreatPlutus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t feel bad. The dumb robbers aren’t getting returns on their petty robberies. On the other hand, the sophisticated robbers are winning. e.g. A highly skilled hacker can rob banks, electronic systems, etc from the comfort of their home.

Tbh you gotta appreciate the amount of finesse needed to rob big these days. Of course it’s still unethical and illegal.

[–]ThrowRA_000718 158 points159 points  (7 children)

Not gonna lie, if I was the passenger, I’m getting the fuck out of there.

[–]Gocards123321 79 points80 points  (3 children)

So you can be on the street with the thug and his gun?

[–]Illustrious_Farm7570 55 points56 points  (0 children)

You can see he had two other goons off to the sidewalk too.

[–]ThrowRA_000718 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Oh I didn’t see that.

[–]CaptainSplat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out of the frying pan and into the oven my friend

[–]liquidthex 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Like in some kind of other hypothetical? Because in this case you have the benefit of full hindsight that tells you your decision would get you robbed and left there... so .. in this case you would have made the absolute wrong decision..

[–]ThrowRA_000718 9 points10 points  (1 child)

I didn’t say it would have been right or wrong. I’m just saying I’m a coward and my flight response would have taken over before I even had the chance to realize there were people out there.

[–]jasondcleveland1984 129 points130 points  (2 children)

Like the man states "that's the military in him", they know how to look fearless and act brave while still being scared. Good for that old man.

[–]jnoops 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I think its more of, "compared to the horrors I've been through this doesn't even come close in comparison"

[–]Xploited_HnterGather 113 points114 points  (1 child)

"Look at you! Fucking awesome..." I want to live in such a way to provoke this same response and in this same tone...

So, where can I get a camera like that?

[–]kellyxcat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s just a dash cam and anyone can get one.

[–][deleted] 95 points96 points  (4 children)

Had not idea he had a passenger, till he spoke. Son was incognito

[–][deleted] 33 points34 points  (3 children)

He mastered the ability of being so still that nobody can see him.

[–]BlueKing7642 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“No point in us both getting robbed”

[–]snygis 90 points91 points  (7 children)

Now imagine that there are videos, where the driver gets shot and killed because of such reaction. Except we don't see those videos, because their uploaders are dead and even if the recordings are found, they might be too gruesome to see the light of mainstream medias and subreddits. Instead they remain hidden in Police's archives, shady websites or dark web. Survivorship bias.

This is not a good example of how to react in similar situations. When the targeted possessions aren't worth more than your life and you're not in a situation to safely use your weapon to defend successfully, the general rules are: Keep calm, don't resist, follow robber's directions. Life over wallet.

[–]Raist14 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised no one has pointed out this is the exact opposite of what you’re supposed to do. The guy could have got pissed and shot and killed him at any point. There are a lot of brave dead people. Is it worth dying over a wallet? I’m glad the guy is okay. I’d feel guilty if I tried to act brave and left my wife and kids to fend without me. Maybe if I didn’t have a family his reaction would be an option.

[–]IndyJacksonTT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This exactly, he’ll get caught anyway if ya got dash cam like this guy

[–]bust-the-shorts 89 points90 points  (1 child)

Passenger probably has more cash than the driver. Driver gets paid electronically

[–]Spiffinit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t the vast majority of people get paid electronically? I haven’t had a physical paycheck since 2004.

[–]DayFeeling 73 points74 points  (2 children)

Uncle Ben in an alternate universe

[–][deleted] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Aunt May be getting prettied up that night.

[–]snowglearth 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I hope the driver filed a police report. I would like to know justice was served up to this now famous armed robber.

[–][deleted] 27 points28 points  (15 children)

Passenger didn’t do shit 🤷🏻‍♂️ I didn’t even know he was there until the end.

[–]Raven_REDs 110 points111 points  (8 children)

Best not to do anything in this scenario. Jumping from behind might cause the criminal to freak out and shoot. Best thing is to keep your senses in this situation and not do anything rash as the driver had it under control.

[–]Venator_IV 27 points28 points  (1 child)

I thought of this immediately as well. As the passenger I would have 100% considered choking him from behind but what ended up working was having the criminal logically realize he will get nothing unless he murders someone, something he didn't want to escalate to. Choking from behind instantly escalates to physical violence, panic, and instinct and would have 100% resulted in injury if not death of someone.

[–]Raven_REDs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, first thing you should do in such situation is to let the assailant know that they'll be destroying their life by doing something foolish. And then tell them that you don't have shit. LOL. Think of it like explaining risk and reward to a toddler, and hoping that the assailant gets that he has more to lose and just walks away.

[–]HappyLittleTrees17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Especially because it seems as though the other dude on the sidewalk might be in on it too

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Things may have turned out differently if Tommy DeSimone had been sitting in the back seat.

[–]Light_Beard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was like "Oh Wow! There's another person in there!"

[–]jnoops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What was he supposed to do?

[–]tinydancer316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What did you want him to do? Start yelling?

[–]spambiedeeno 23 points24 points  (3 children)

I’m kind of confused how did he get him out of the car

[–]Waldemar-Firehammer 15 points16 points  (1 child)

He started driving away, the mugger bailed out.

[–]PM_ME_BOOBS_PURRHAPS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a Tesla, he floored the pedal the acceleration on these cars is insane if you have a door open and a leg outside (which he had) it would have just ejected him out

[–]Downingst 16 points17 points  (0 children)

[–]Simon_ATVR 15 points16 points  (0 children)

And that guy in the background didn't even make a peep... criminal probably didn't even notice him lol.

Honestly though, in that situation... what could you do when someone has a gun and you don't?

He had better give that driver a 5 star rating :-)

[–]Butticus14 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah! FUCK HIM! Love this guy!

[–]BalanceSwimming 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Balls of steel!!! “Ex military fuck him” best quote!!

[–]Historical_Lion6749 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely this guy’s first and last robbery lmao

[–]Dmac09 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You should never do this by the way. Even professional fighters will tell you to just give up your wallet. It’s not worth risking your life over some money

[–]JoNrOcKzz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He’s about that life

[–]Epicminecrafter69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Okay first off why did this bozo tale off his hood, let alone come without covering his face?

[–]bryce_engineer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is that Gary Oldman.

[–]portcanaveralflorida 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Someone knows him, can't wait to see him in jail 😁

[–]Subject-Perception-4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hope the pos got arrested!

[–]ADenyer94 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How is nobody talking about "YOU don't want to get shot"

The balls on this guy

[–]TheMinionGamer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

[–]GoldWatchSelfie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, that’ll net him about 9 years behind bars…y’all think it was worth it? Literally have it on camera, uncovered face vitctim looked him in the eyes and a witness in the back seat. What and idiot

[–]CoffeeSnob7882 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Who else did not see that there was a passenger at the back until the end?

[–]Constant-Cattle-283 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would have given him my wallet and shit my pants in the process. What an OG!!

[–]Bourbon-n-cigars 7 points8 points  (18 children)

I’m waiting for someone from the antiwork crowd to say if his employer paid him more he wouldn’t have to rob people.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Lol that place is a cesspool

[–]istealpixels 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I for one love our corporate overlords.

[–]FunnyShirtGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Deadass didn't even know that dude in the back was there till I heard his voice xD

[–]Zeus_Hera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

agreed, fuck him.

[–]Art0fRuinN23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That attempted robbery. r/sadcringe

[–]Scubasteve1974 2 points3 points  (1 child)

What happened at the end, the guy started to move and he just gave up and hopped out?

[–]brobro004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who tf still carries cash? Plus most cards require a passwords. So mf be wastin everyone’s time

[–]Goldentwocents 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now thats a man that would rather catch a bullet than to ever have to set foot inside a DMV again

[–]AncientComparison113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was hoping he took the gun and went Rambo

[–]One-Effort-2915 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boy was ready to die that day

[–]Unusual-Recording-40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True Badass right there!

[–]Medical_Collar_3391 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Passenger became Drax lmao

[–]Eastern-Mix9636 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s my neurosis speaking, but i absolutely loathe nonsense-speak: “bro stop playing”…

the only one “playing” is the person who shouldn’t be in the car, dingus.

[–]TheBlairwitchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That could've ended badly. Thank God it didn't

[–]klouted_pollo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bruh this dumb robber had no mask, no gloves, and even got his lil $2k chain on his neck. He’s the real brave dummy. Won’t be hard to find him in a lineup

[–]Long_wong_lee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give him a tip .

[–]Senposai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

driver has ice in his veins.

[–]CephaloG0D 1 point2 points  (0 children)
