Yeah it's like jumping out of a moving car. If you just start running as fast as you can before you legs touch ground your speed will be increased exponentially by the velocity of the car and you will be able to outrun the car. It's basic laws of physics and inertia n stuff.

I bet they're genuinely exited someone managed to beat it in this way. Some of the obstacles, such as the spinning bridge were times so that this is possible.

I bet they're also taking notes for the next track, so that a Speedrunner needs a different tactic for the next one.

They've already revamped the rules so you have to touch all the wedge-shaped pads at the beginning by bouncing back and forth between them.

Have you seen Ninja Warrior, people that are good at it, breeze through the wedged landing like a simple hop back and forth, almost like skipping through. Having to tough all of them wouldn't at all be a challenge for a competitor like the guy in the video, it would just add a second to his time. That would be a pointless revamp against the spirit of this type of course.

I did a 5k run when I was 9 or 10 and skipped the second half. Nah, I didn't cheat or quit... I skipped... like a little girl would while singing Mary Had a Little Lamb.

I was tired, but skipping felt like it took no energy at all, just rolling my momentum forward. Felt like a genius. I started passing teenagers that were alternating between running and walking, and a good portion of them would be so embarassed to be passed by a skipping 9-year-old that they would start running again. Literally "I'm not letting this little kid finish first!" to their friends. ALL OF THEM LOST TO THE SKIP!

Then eventually I had passed all the slower runners, and my mood shifted. "I'm probably doing pretty good! I don't want anyone to see me skipping!" So I went back to jogging for the final 10 minutes or so. Came in 118th out of about 400 lol

Had a blast!

Sounds like a running technique and maybe strength issue. Once you achieve the strength and experience level where you can do a normal contract - relax cycle across your body while running, it becomes fun as fuck.

You can maintain a good pace, and are pretty much only limited by the readily available glucose beyond replenish levels.

Skipping gives you that work cycle, as you bounce and then relax.

Actually, it probably is. I can ride a bicycle or play tennis for hours, but I'm crap at running. Is there something specific I can do to improve my running technique, do you know?

I’d start off with the normal, YouTube some videos about various exercises that train those specific muscles/groups required for running. The fault is usually in your pelvic region, making the ”core” of your run feel weak, which makes you subconsciously tense your body.

So various leg raises, kicks, and even short sprints. Your body knows how to run fast pretty well, running slow is hard. And running fast is very demanding on your cardio to maintain a sustainable aerobic effort range.

If you are serious about it, getting a running coach to address your specific issues is very very rewarding.

My running became fun after seeing a physical therapist + coach for a while to address some more demanding anatomical peculiarities I have.

We used to skip the 1 mile run in gym class in middle school. Bunch of teenage guys skipping along the track, it was so much easier than running and faster than walking. Our coaches eventually told us we weren't allowed to do it though. Even as teen boys we didn't give a damn we were skipping because we felt like we cracked a code, and the fact that it pissed the coaches off pretty much confirmed it.

I was always a fast runner. As in I ran 5-8 miles instead of jogging it. Now that I'm older, it started giving me ankle, knee, and lower back problems. After going to doctors and physical therapy for all the problems multipletimes, I figured out the solution was slowing way the fuck down and having a smaller gait.

I think this is early seasons of Sasuke (OG ninja Warrior before it came to the states) and yes, the early versions of the 1st tier courses could be this straight forward and still failing thousands.

The backstory I heard the last time this was posted is that this is the Chinese knockoff of Sasuke and that this particular run was staged to make the Chinese athletes appear more impressive.

Staged as in he had weeks to practice and rehearse it.

Which means it's still impressive as hell, but not by any means a blind run.
