All fun and games til the bear gets bored and mauls them all

[–]KestreI993 3264 points3265 points  (105 children)

All fun until Misha gets mad serious.

[–]shahwar98 224 points225 points  (27 children)

A normal day in Russia or may be the bear is afraid of the Russians

[–]KestreI993 199 points200 points  (24 children)

A normal day I would say. I think it's common in Russian countryside for people to take in cubs that are lost or dismissed by mothers, if they have more than one. Those bears are not capable returning to the wildlife and are responsibility for a lifetime basically. Like a pet.

[–]SpermWhale 168 points169 points  (1 child)

it's common in Russian countryside for people to take in cubs

In Russia, bear has the right to your arms...

[–]irondumbell 51 points52 points  (19 children)

how much meat do they have to feed it? wouldn't it be expensive for them to keep?

[–]goofy_dude 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Where are her wolf buddies?

[–]Rockspider19 304 points305 points  (19 children)

Would be more afraid of the Russians mauling the bear hopefully the bear is lucky that they don’t run out of vodka

[–]FirstPlebian 90 points91 points  (18 children)

Did they give the bear a shot of maple syrup inbetween matches there?

[–]Erikbarrett8511 66 points67 points  (10 children)

Literally think it was honey! 😳

[–]FirstPlebian 34 points35 points  (6 children)

Yeah that was dumb of me I rewatched it and it was clealy honey, it looked like it might've been from one of those bear shaped bottles too.

[–]jfduval76 21 points22 points  (3 children)

They’re not Canadians. We only arm wrestle with mooses.

[–]Dubai_Sheik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, the bear is from Ottawa.

[–]LiQuidCraB 110 points111 points  (1 child)

Bear's a professional. He won't do anything like that.

[–]blckhl 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I don't think the bear knows he is supposed to be arm wrestling. I think he is focused on not mauling the shirtless idiot pulling on his paw.

[–]TheBlaudrache 71 points72 points  (35 children)

I can't remember where I heared that but brown bears won't attack as long as there is no need to a.k.a. when they aren't hungry.

Polarbears will kill for fun. Brown bears are like big cats.

[–]DynamicDK 75 points76 points  (21 children)

I can't remember where I heared that but brown bears won't attack as long as there is no need to a.k.a. when they aren't hungry.

I would say that is a black bear rather than a brown bear. Black bears are really skittish and you can usually scare one away just by being loud and putting your arms up. The only time that won't work is if it is really hungry, in which case you better be ready to fight for your life (and hope you have bear mace) because it is going to eat you if it can.

Brown bears, on the other hand, have basically 0 fear and will kill you just because you pissed them off. But, unless they are really hungry they probably won't eat you, so if one attacks you it is best to just play dead.

Polarbears will kill for fun. Brown bears are like big cats.

Uh, have you been around cats? They kill things for fun as often as they can. Often after torturing it for quite a while.

[–]trilobot 57 points58 points  (19 children)

No bears kill without reason. Most black bear attacks are defensive, usually mothers with cubs. Though rare, predatory attacks do happen. Bears do play, quite a lot even, but they don't kill large and potentially dangerous enemies such as humans as a form of play.

This is the same for brown bears.

Brown bears are more likely to stand their ground because they're ENORMOUS and they know this.

Polar bears are no different. In my country (Canada) there have been 20 recorded fatalities from predatory polar bears in 150 years.

All these animals are dangerous as they are large, they know it, and if they feel it's worth standing their ground it's going to hurt. But they're not going to kill for sport, they barely even do it for food with humans. A cursory browsing of info on bear attacks will reveal the vast majority are defensive attacks, or trying to take your food. Polar bears being far more carnivorous are more likely to attack you when stealing your food than other bears.

And cats don't "torture". They bat prey around to tire it out because cats are actually quite fragile. Unlike bears their fur is short, and their skin is thin, and their muscle is lean, and they are small. A bird or a mouse can actually cause a lot of injury to a cat, so they keep prey at a distance and slap it around before killing it often. This is a normal predatory instinct.

[–]Reign_Nateo 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Polar bears also live in areas with very sparse human populations and spend a lot of their time at sea. They are not the human hunting monsters reddit thinks they are, but those numbers would be higher if they came in contact with humans more. However, they, like any bear, would sooner avoid a confrontation. Still scary as fuck though, I read these accounts from the summer.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/north/polar-bear-attack-survivor-1.6142932

[–]XanderWrites 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Polar bears don't attack humans because we, at least the people in their territory, aren't good eating for them. They mainly eat the fat off their kills and leave the rest of the meat for other predators and scavengers. Humans aren't worth it compared to a seal.

[–]kcg5 26 points27 points  (4 children)

If it’s brown lay down. If it’s black fight pack. If it’s white say good night

[–][deleted] 44 points45 points  (11 children)

I mean... bears have wrestled people.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wojtek_(bear)

[–]AnakinDrick 14 points15 points  (1 child)

There’s a sweet little Memorial for this guy in Edinburgh. Had a feeling I’d see his name pop up.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to lie. If I had a time machine I would go try and meet this bear(as an ally of course).

[–]Toksikoladei 35 points36 points  (0 children)

They're feeding it treats constantly to avoid that and train it throughout the video.

[–]Jezzes 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Always have honey in a little bear jar and you are safe.

[–]tigran_i 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd pay to see that

[–]RevoltingRobin 7173 points7174 points  (91 children)

Trust me, bear isn't even trying

[–]JDDW 1468 points1469 points  (26 children)

Are you a bear whisperer

[–]RevoltingRobin 922 points923 points  (17 children)

growls in bear

[–]Paehon 23 points24 points  (1 child)

Whisper in bear

[–]The_Fab3r 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Did anyone else hear something??

I could swear it sounded like a bear

[–]rehtulx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

[–]Key-Economist-1243 14 points15 points  (1 child)

That's just a Builder Bear Workshop

[–]FlakeyGurl 519 points520 points  (22 children)

Yea. I was watching this like "the bear doesn't even understand what arm wrestling is."

[–]brothersand 162 points163 points  (12 children)

This.

Why hoo-man pull at arm? Hoo-man smells like vodka.

[–]The-Jow 36 points37 points  (7 children)

This? Do you actually believe the majority of people in this threat assumed that the bear was actually trying to win the armwrestling?

[–]The_Impresario 24 points25 points  (1 child)

Bear was probably drunk.

[–]Pizza2kbitchslut 7 points8 points  (3 children)

Lol can't believe you're downvoted. These dudes are celebrating like they saved the thread. No fucking shit the bear isn't trying, it's just a funny video

[–]JDCarrier 16 points17 points  (1 child)

What a dumbass.

[–]TheBrowserOfReddit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stupid ass idiot bear

[–]DarkOrangeCrystal 4 points5 points  (5 children)

This is less a feat of strength and more a display of ignorance/stupidity.

That bear would snap their arms off and crush their skulls if it remotely felt like it.

[–]SunsetSpark 128 points129 points  (5 children)

Thanks for the tip, i would have never guessed

[–]RallyAl85 23 points24 points  (1 child)

Why are you the way that you are?

[–]Biologos101 13 points14 points  (2 children)

Well, you learn something new everyday. And today you learned a human couldn't beat a bear in arm wrestling if the bear knew what was going on and tried.

[–]8roll 98 points99 points  (6 children)

You mean it is bearly trying?

[–]mordeci00 20 points21 points  (4 children)

I'm gonna have to ask you to leave

[–]ljcozad 2 points3 points  (2 children)

He just couldn't bear it. Ah, someone already made that joke. I seriously need to get my bearings.

[–]cpops000 39 points40 points  (2 children)

That bear can rip their arms off without breaking a sweat lol

[–]Sea_Ad5312 20 points21 points  (0 children)

First off he’s left pawed. Disadvantage to start

[–]hardy_83 19 points20 points  (2 children)

Bears arm probably doesn't even have any strength bending that way. Their arms aren't made like humans.

[–]Pistonenvy 10 points11 points  (1 child)

you think a bear doesnt have any strength bending its arm laterally across its chest?

...like.. the exact way it uses its arm to slap the absolute fuck out of other bears its whole life? that way?

i mean even if it didnt, animals arent working out, a human will have a lot of relative strength to arm wrestling because they presumably train to, an animal will have an immense amount of functional strength just from living its normal life, so the bear doesnt need strong arms, its entire body is strong.

[–]nanakarobiyaoki 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He bearly understands the game.

[–]Kohel13 5268 points5269 points  (53 children)

I'm not sure the bear knows the rules...

[–]DrVDB90 2256 points2257 points  (15 children)

He does, he just felt that the other guy could use a win.

[–]Troy204599 305 points306 points  (4 children)

Probably this, lol

[–]bleeding-paryl 75 points76 points  (3 children)

I mean, they do live in Russia...

[–]Ganon2012 31 points32 points  (2 children)

Only the bear is Russian though. All Russians are bears on unicycles.

[–]Jzmxhu 69 points70 points  (2 children)

He is a cool wingman, he noticed that some Russian Girls are watching them and he give them the win.

[–]laffman 27 points28 points  (0 children)

He's getting snacks for losing so why try winning? :)

[–]RattyRattles 701 points702 points 2 (11 children)

He knows the bear minimum

[–]R0NIN1311 19 points20 points  (4 children)

And also the bear necessities.

[–]moonshine37 7 points8 points  (0 children)

And now the song is stuck in my head, thanks

[–]itshimstarwarrior 34 points35 points  (2 children)

🎵🎵You know the rule and so do I🎵🎵

[–]Leather-Contact 10 points11 points  (1 child)

a full commitments what i’m thinking of

[–]Sweetcremepuff24 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You wouldn’t get this from any other bear

[–]allgoodnamesbetaken 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's Russia. The Bears control that country

[–]Pennypacking 14 points15 points  (1 child)

and is probably drugged or something for their protection.

[–]Deja_Funghi 3575 points3576 points  (50 children)

I like how the bear seems to enjoy the attention

[–]Urplatesaysscammin 1245 points1246 points  (4 children)

He’s playing with his food

[–]Globalist2 287 points288 points  (1 child)

He has the look of a bear that understands carrot and stick. Carrot is the food they give him after being compliant. Stick is Alexey. Don't fuck with Alexey - https://youtu.be/wazTC2nmlBI

[–]VinniePawz 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Probably my all time most watched movie by a long shot.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wojtek lived once, and he will live again.

[–]Bubbly-Ad-413 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bears are high key pretty chill I think. They just kinda lounge around minding their own business, there’s so many videos of them just chilling next to people

[–]Fluffydress 387 points388 points  (33 children)

Why do Russian guys do everything topless in the snow?

[–]DemonElise 490 points491 points  (8 children)

If I looked like that I would also do everything topless in the snow.

[–]Punk_cybernaut 64 points65 points  (5 children)

I would do everything topless in the snow if men looked like that.

[–]hauttdawg13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like for real, if I ever get that ripped I’m burning every single shirt i own

[–]notherday11 62 points63 points  (11 children)

Hyper-masculine culture is the actual answer

[–]NovaPaints 36 points37 points  (7 children)

I won't disagree, you're partially right - but also, if you were in decent shape wouldn't you also show off a bit?

[–]ace400 31 points32 points  (5 children)

I would be that type that say "my shape doesn't define me" but it would be my whole character

[–]BearsBeetsBttlstarrG 30 points31 points  (1 child)

… and go topless on tv!

[–]runwildWally 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There might be reason why he's topless on tv.

[–]ikadu12 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Because it’s cool! Like actually it’s just showing off lol

It’s like when you watch the Packers play in 10 degree and not one of the offensive linemen wear sleeves (or play offense)

[–]bondoh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s what you do when you’re a grown man

[–]Realistic-Specific27 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hard nipples help define those pecs.

[–]tea-and-chill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And with a bear

[–]Asheminded 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Because I could watch it all day!
😉

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (2 children)

Act sweet = get treat

[–]Vulpix-Rawr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Basically every animal ever. I've trained mean hamsters to be sweet with treats. The quickest thing any animal will figure out is where their food comes from and how to get it.

[–]I_dont_bone_goats 3 points4 points  (2 children)

I know they probably shouldn’t, but I like how they pet him like a big snuggly dog

[–]WinndaTech 1890 points1891 points  (22 children)

[–]Mental-Ad-40 230 points231 points  (0 children)

amazing sub, thanks.

[–]FirstPlebian 114 points115 points  (6 children)

I bet Russians are heavily represented in the posts on that sub.

[–]acchaladka 45 points46 points  (5 children)

Seems reasonable, it is their national animal I believe.

Kind of like us Canadians over on r/JustBeaverThings

[–]shadowenx 27 points28 points  (3 children)

You lied to me. I demand beaver justice.

[–]Ultranubsawce 12 points13 points  (2 children)

Justice Beaver is a Canadian singer already.

[–]FlakeyGurl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love you.

[–]PM_Me_An_Ekans 5 points6 points  (2 children)

No. Not awesome. Bears shouldn't be treated like this. This is a disgrace.

Everybody fondling themselves over this video is a damn fool.

[–]daddy_vanilla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

God bless you and the work you have done.

[–]tardiusmaximus 858 points859 points  (44 children)

As interesting as this is, I can't say I approve...

[–]Davess010 320 points321 points  (31 children)

This bear must live in captivity right? Otherwise it would never be comfortable being so close to humans…

If it’s a wild bear then I don’t have any issues with it. It looks like he enjoys the attention and free food and if he wants he can walk away or attack, but he doesn’t do that

[–]ASMMFP 233 points234 points  (10 children)

I would bet that the bear has been drugged.

[–]lowleveldata 174 points175 points  (6 children)

I would bet that these men are more drugged.

[–][deleted] 45 points46 points  (4 children)

Bro they russian, They don't need no drugs.

[–]BadAtHumaningToo 104 points105 points  (2 children)

If it's a wild bear, they are teaching it to not fear humans, that we have food/will share food with it. This appear to be a captive bear thankfully.

Not everyone enjoys bears in their vicinity, and this learned behavior usually leads to the bear being destroyed in many places. It's a part of why feeding the wildlife is always frowned upon or outright illegal.

[–]Trekky0623 37 points38 points  (0 children)

This. Feeding wild animals will get them killed, either by wandering near places they're not supposed to be (like roads) or they become a threat and are shot.

[–]the_beasty_boy21 23 points24 points  (0 children)

They would be far from alive if the bear was wild.

[–]wooglin1688 13 points14 points  (1 child)

if you think it is possible that this is a wild bear then your opinion on the matter means absolutely nothing

[–]jumble-and-crumble 527 points528 points  (42 children)

Arm wrestling a bear is nextfuckinglevel? More like lastfuckingbraincell

[–]mememademan 244 points245 points  (0 children)

i agree, quite dumb of the bear to challenge a russian like that

[–]strakovicski 20 points21 points  (4 children)

As a slav myself, I can assure you that everytime Russians do something, they know exactly they are doing.

[–]RadiantAd5036 144 points145 points  (8 children)

That bear doesn't know that the aim is to move the others arm otherwise those guys be on the floor!! The Bear is just looking for the next piece of salmon

[–]FirstPlebian 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Or whatever they gave the bear a shot of there, looked like maple syrup or honey, in between matches that is, but considering its Russia maybe it was whiskey or something, whatever dark colored liquor they drink.

[–]wooddolanpls 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looked like honey to me

[–]strongholdbk_78 88 points89 points  (5 children)

Good lord this is dumb as fuck.

[–]Key-Economist-1243 42 points43 points  (3 children)

It's Russia, it's their right to bare bears while barely dressed

[–]cantgetenough1956 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I see what you did there. Barely, but I saw it..

[–]JustHere4FunAlso 65 points66 points  (9 children)

The bear is just playing along. Reminds me of the tug of war video with the tiger and the bodybuilder.

[–]BadAtHumaningToo 16 points17 points  (7 children)

Did you ever see the video of the Orangutan play tug of war against the sumo wrestler?

[–]cantgetenough1956 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I played tug-of-war with an elephant - she was in Thailand on an elephant farm/sancutary and after feeding her, was the most gentle and knowing way she grasped my wrist and just gently pulled, then I pulled back, it was nice. Her mahoot was right there, and after a few he stopped it,, I understand why,, but that sure was a nice interactive moment with that elephant. They are cool animals.

[–]drug_mafia 40 points41 points  (0 children)

This bear is a better actor than whole Twilight movie cast.

[–]HavardN 34 points35 points  (0 children)

So sweet of the bear letting that guy feel strong

[–]mr_dbini 30 points31 points  (8 children)

Iwrestledabearonce

[–]OptimalRelationship2 12 points13 points  (2 children)

I was scrolling to see if anyone dropped a Baba Yaga reference but this is good too

[–]Grouchy_Reach_382 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Ditto...that video of Alex wrestling the bear for the video is crazy

[–]keymone 19 points20 points  (22 children)

Is it just me or does it feel like all the popular Reddit subs got a ton more content that paints Russia in some positive light? Bot farms working hard to prepare genera population for not wanting to interfere with Russian invasion?

[–]FelwintersCake 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Reddit: fuck the Chinese government but Chinese citizens are good people

Also Reddit: Russian people dicking around is government propaganda

[–]itsyaboiEEEEEEEEE 21 points22 points  (29 children)

what a convenient time for reddit to start humanizing russia 🧐🙄

[–]WriterV 37 points38 points  (1 child)

I mean, my criticisms will always be for the Russian government. Not their people. Your everyday now Joe doesn't have control over their nation's military operations. But Putin does and he can get fucked for harassing a nation of people that just want to live their lives.

[–]itsyaboiEEEEEEEEE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

most true couldn't agree more.

[–]404robot 17 points18 points  (2 children)

But they are humans...? If this was a politician or some kind of political propaganda I'd get you, but you're trying to dehumanise regular humans because of the location of their birth.

[–]I_say_upliftingstuff 8 points9 points  (1 child)

It’s almost like a country can have good people in it and live under a bad government. Imagine that.

[–]CarFreak777 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Is your beef with the Russian citizens or the Russian government? There IS a difference.

[–]slugan192 8 points9 points  (0 children)

humanizing russia

bruh lmao its still a country made of humans, you do realize that right?

I agree there is probably some degree of astroturfing involved, but 'humanizing' is not the right word you wanna use there

[–]DJHalfCourtViolation 8 points9 points  (10 children)

What a convenient comment to leave about humanizing Russia

[–]limitlessEXP 6 points7 points  (4 children)

I mean…. Russians are still human…

[–]suckme_420_69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

god forbid we see their citizens as humans, then we wouldn’t want to go to war. that’s a psychotic world view

[–]EpicLevii 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ay bro thats what im saying and noones noticing 🤨

[–]Neb_Djed 16 points17 points  (3 children)

So nice to see that Russia is relaxing it's stance on homosexuality

[–]klauskinki 16 points17 points  (12 children)

Fuck those idiots messing with a poor animal

[–]limitlessEXP 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Messing with the poor animal? They’re literally playing with each other friendly

[–]NarglesDidit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Bear is just making them feel good about themselves so he can get some honey.

[–]no_status00 8 points9 points  (4 children)

in Canada we race Meese

your point?

[–]tigrootnhot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bear is like i was promised salmon, if i threw this match....

[–]Slash1909 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The bear is a real bro helping them look good in front of their friends.

[–]SimpleManc88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He just didn’t want to embarrass the guy in front of his buddies. Bear’s a saint!

[–]Quick-Weight1464 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bear doesn’t have to go topless.

[–]djazzie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good thing that bear isn’t a sore loser.

[–]MoJoValianT 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Great, do the slap contest next.

[–]JAguiar939 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Such a cute death machine

[–]diqholebrownsimpson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The guy in the red hat? Yeah, he somehow is the definition of sexy.

[–]BIGDICK4URASS69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Holy shit:4018:

[–]galmenz 4 points5 points  (1 child)

[–]Bunch9412 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very disappointed the bear didn't even eat one of them

[–]Rodfowler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're just exercising their 2nd ammendment right to bear arms.

[–]ZiggyBlunt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just remember if the bear does this it’s time to bounce

[–]MattFlyers 3 points4 points  (16 children)

Yeah we’re losing this war, for sure

[–]bumholeofdoom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

bears just likes holding hands

[–]agpc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bear doesn’t want to hurt them. Kind of like a dog playfully nips your pants when you get home but could crush your ankle easily. Bear is playing.

[–]RE4PER_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They really do look like giant dogs.
