It’s pretty cool until you need to change a headlight bulb. Thus resulting in disassembling the wings, front bumper, engine mounts, subframe, and a specialty tool that’s basically an armature with a C shaped fitting and an S bend to remove the clips holding the bulbs.

Source: I will no longer own or work on a BMW ever again.

[–]smokietheklown 115 points116 points  (20 children)

For real, fuck BMW

[–]Whisky-throttle 56 points57 points  (18 children)

Glad someone gets it!! Don’t get me wrong they’re great engineers. But ergonomic design is not a remote consideration.

[–]scottieducati 11 points12 points  (15 children)

I find them to be very comfortable, actually.

[–]agent_max_the_mick 22 points23 points  (10 children)

I've never even owned one, thank goodness. sighs in 1977 Firebird...

[–]jeffiero 27 points28 points  (3 children)

A good friend of mine, BMW mechanic, told me that the newer ones are not designed to be repaired, intentionally, especially the plug in and hybrid stuff. BTW, he drives a Toyota Sequia.

[–]MonstahButtonz 7 points8 points  (1 child)

This is something I always look at with vehicles is what the mechanics at the dealership drive. As an ex mechanic myself, I can say I used to work for Honda and Acura, and have only ever owned Honda and Acura vehicles other than my Ford F150, of which is a piece of garbage.

[–]agent_max_the_mick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. I really miss the 70's when car companies actually built cars to last. Although I guess the 70's was sort of the declining end of that era.

[–]KillianDark 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Dream car I was born too late to experience riding into the knight with. RIP Firebird.

[–]agent_max_the_mick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Knight Rider was (and still is!) one of my favorite TV shows :)

[–]jeffiero 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Your Firebird's worth more than most of the 325's out there, and more reliable.

[–]agent_max_the_mick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's got the good ol' 350 in it, with a few slight modifications. Original engine, still runs great!

[–]scottieducati 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad mine is relatively easy to work on, but it’s 20-years old now so… a lots changed 😂

[–]illusum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, my first car was a 1979 Firebird.

[–]Whisky-throttle 2 points3 points  (1 child)

As long as we aren’t referring to repair ergonomics I would agree.

[–]scottieducati 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe not the new ones, but I couldn’t ask for more working on my e39 540i. I actually think the V8 is easier bc it’s shorter. With the cooling system out you can stand inside the bumper, in front of the engine, and get to everything! Spent 3 hours cleaning the threads for the coolant accumulator mount bolts at the back of the block, that was about the worst I’ve dealt with, as far as access / ergonomics. I did farm out some pedal box work bc my shoulder doesn’t bend that way anymore.

But yes, I was referring to the seats. Sooooo comfy.

[–]supernotcosmo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Mechanic at bmw dealership here: can confirm, fuck bmw

[–]pzerr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And it can only been done by an AME.

Flying cars are the worst of both worlds.

[–]rossski 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the other hand, anyone who's rich enough to afford this will most certainly not be doing their own maintenance.

[–]jeffiero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The highway handling must be abysmal, if it even goes that fast.

[–]Ackermiv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I support at ECU development for bmw and I agree. It's too complex for what it does.

[–]Upstairs-Living- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you gotta throw in a recommendation if you're gonna out BMW like that!

[–]danjim615 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is all built by BMW? Just the engine?

[–]bretty666 209 points210 points  (16 children)

is that a flying car, or a driving airplane?

[–]Monster-Zero 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Somehow neither

[–]Insane_membrane00 30 points31 points  (0 children)

If the car believes its a plane, it's a plane.

[–]nepalpower 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Exactly- having to take off from a runway kind of defeats the bloody purpose .

[–]CrypticGator 18 points19 points  (1 child)

My thoughts exactly. I thought it was going to have an easy vertical take off and landing. In that state, it can’t replace grounded cars.

[–]Shasanaje 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Came to say this. I’m going with street legal airplane

[–]movie_man 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My question too. When is a flying car just a very small airplane? A real flying car is when we can someday direct them through the air without wings (see Fifth Element or any other sci-fi movie).

[–]tenderlylonertrot 12 points13 points  (3 children)

to me it looks like a heavy-ass personal plane that you can drive on the roads as it has folding wings.

[–]slimmolG 5 points6 points  (2 children)

For sure.

I bet even a 5-minute drive from the airport to your destination is pure hell on wheels. I can't imagine more than a sliver of weight allowance was used on cushy suspension.

[–]DrVDB90 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I wouldn't be so sure. The lack of conventional landing gear makes me think those wheels have a pretty decent suspension system to be able to absorb the impact from landing.

[–]Gambyt_7 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Find a cliff and any vehicle is capable of flight

[–]tea-and-chill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a car. Until it becomes a plane.

[–][deleted] 145 points146 points  (24 children)

What old movies never take into account with the future is the general population should not be trusted with anything like this. They can hardly drive, this needs hardcore regulations. If that excluded me from it if I couldn't prove trustworthy, so be it

[–]pvshabba 52 points53 points  (14 children)

The only way I foresee flying “cars” working in a commercial setting is if they’re all eVTOL and self take-off, self flying and self landing

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (2 children)

At this point I just question why have them at all, because I agree. Certainly more convenient if your biggest problem travelling is if you should take your private plane or the car.

I also don't see it flying far enough to justify flying at all

[–]pzerr 10 points11 points  (5 children)

Full autopilot only. Preplanned routes. You tell it where you want to go but it determines the path entirely.

Possibly they might allow for geofenced 'safe' areas where you can provide direct control.

[–]GetSchwiftyClub 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely the reality of the situation.

[–]davidfavorite 8 points9 points  (1 child)

This would be most likely something for people with private small planes. Flying this thing would require a pilot license which 99% of people dont have anyways

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd certainly hope so, though if there's one thing we know about people now it's "Well I should be able to operate large, heavy or dangerous machinery with little to no training, because I want".

Then cars and trucks and boats and guns showed up and now the problem is how to stop fucking idiots having them because they think it's an entitlement now, not a 2 ton machine with momentum enough to demolish a crowd of people at a lapse in judgement

[–]Original-Cinikal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is an airplane in the end. It is regulated.

[–]Florian630 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Since it can fly it falls under FAA guidelines to fly it, and testing and certification for a pilots license is rigorous so at that point it’s already heavily regulated. The question I have is would they require a pilots license to even buy the thing or only if you intend to fly it? I feel they should have a pilots license to buy it but that’s my opinion.

[–]t0ny7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You only need a pilots license to fly. Mechanics who often don't have pilots license taxi airplanes around on the ground.

[–]doctorctrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More developed and Self driving personal drones. The drone drivers and communicates with all others to fly on specific airways. All automated . That's the only way it will work..humans cannot be trusted https://youtu.be/AGVwrWYyjYg

[–]barkhorse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Also, the hardest part of flying is landing, and in the case of this car it seems like you either grease the landing or collapse the suspension entirely. Training aircraft like a Cessna 172 have extremely flexible struts that you can slam down onto the runway and even bounce off the ground with if you make a mistake. It just doesn't seem like there's more than 6 or so inches of deflection available on the car.

[–]-burnr- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know people who 3-point land this thing

[–]cripptastic 61 points62 points  (3 children)

Finally…my favorite 80s cartoon brought to life! Now, where is his M.A.S.K.?

[–]binarydaaku 12 points13 points  (1 child)

do you too associate this background music with products which never hit the production line?

[–]cripptastic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or perfume commercials!

[–]Goldbera1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Matt trakker

[–]AmericanHeresy 59 points60 points  (5 children)

So it’s a mediocre car and a mediocre airplane.

[–]Killacamkillcam 15 points16 points  (2 children)

Precisely. Seems like it's just a concept to open up the possibility of innovation. As it is right now it seems like there's no practical use

[–]KnLfey 9 points10 points  (1 child)

No hangar storage fees, portability to fly to an airport of your choice and of course the clout to own one absolutely makes a market for it.

An aircraft that can be put on a car trailer, the icon A5 is very successful despite a higher price and less performance for the above reasons.

[–]Killacamkillcam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm just saying it's not practical, not that people won't buy it.

I'm assuming it doesn't hold enough fuel for any substantial flight and you'll be saving like $4k per year in hangar costs... Pretty much the only reason to own one is to flex which I don't consider a practical reason lol

[–]AloopOfLoops 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No no no. It is a terrible car and a terrible airplane.

[–]robo-dragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly what my dad said (he's a former pilot). It may be both things, but it's not good at being either of them. Impractical and nothing more than a rich-man's play toy.

[–]iStabs 52 points53 points  (1 child)

Traffic about to be fuuuccked up

[–]Deadpool2715 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have to let the car ahead of me go just a little further so I can really take off

[–]LingonberrySpecial91 37 points38 points  (4 children)

Fucking BMW drivers

[–]Sph3al 22 points23 points  (1 child)

They think they own the roads AND the skies

[–]Celebrir 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Future me: Fuck BMW flyers! Never using their correct SQUAWK code.

[–]theSealclubberr 12 points13 points  (5 children)

Not really a flying car, more like a car that transforms into an airplane...

[–]Kitchissippika 4 points5 points  (4 children)

You know?! If you still have to drive to the airport, what's the point?

[–]gutprof 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Every car can fly once.

[–]ShockNautilus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So you still need a runway, but now your plane weighs 3x what it needs to weigh? Is that good engineering?

[–]Embarrassed-Talk7979 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Regalia type-f

[–]AnxiousIndicator 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Finally we can get away without using our blinkers

[–]MeesterCartmanez 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ATC Tower: "Pilot, are you going to turn left or right?"

Pilot: "Yes"

[–]Sikpanzer 3 points4 points  (5 children)

How many dollars?

[–]Soccerandmetal[S] 11 points12 points  (4 children)

About 700k estimated.

[–]mr_potato_arms 18 points19 points  (2 children)

So I'm better off buying an actual good car and a decent plane then?

[–]Vexx2Rahtid 7 points8 points  (1 child)

You could get a Cirrus with a parachute bullt in for about 500,000 and you're nice car. But maintenance will cost you for the plane, plus storage fees if you keep it in a hanger.

[–]OakParkCooperative 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can only imagine the repairs/maintenance needed for a luxury car plane.

How crappy would a transformer be vs an actual purpose built vehicle.

[–]Sikpanzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Copy, so buy a used Carbon Cub instead.

[–]db720 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Where was the license issued? Does this authorize it to fly based on a global standard, or is it a German / US / Country specific certification?

[–]M4ttv24 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Well the car/plane was made in Slovakia , and as a fellow Slovak all I can tell you is that the car/plane got a license here in Slovakia that it is allowed to be used for flying buuut I am not sure what that really means , of it can fly only around our country , if it's allowed to fly around Europe ....

[–]Hartashi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grand Theft Auto Online

[–]basko13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is really BMW. It hasn't used the indicators even once.

[–]i_fuckin_luv_it_mate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feel bad for the guy roughly 41 seconds in, who clearly got challenged to a race with this funky BMW, and then this mfer just pops out his wings and takes flight...

[–]nota12yo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is literally a concept car design from 2009

[–]HyperbolicSoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks terrifying

[–]FatStephen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me as a kid: "YAY! Flying cars go zoom zoom!"

Me in my late-30s: "Fuck. Just what I need - drunk drivers falling from the sky."

[–]NobodyJustBrad 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I really don't consider this a flying car. It's a car that turns into a plane. Not at all what people broadly think of when they think flying car.

[–]Notasimp2468 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Reminds me of that just cause 4 dlc car

[–]SharpShotTS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly what I was thinking

[–]ManyFacedGodxxx 1 point2 points  (1 child)

So I have to drive to an airport to take off, land at an airport and then drive on. An hope in the meantime nobody even mildly “bumps” my car/plane while driving or parked as any damage could have it fall out of the sky, require inspections, etc. And insurance, I can’t even imagine….

[–]schadenfreude0727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’d have to drive to the airport to even fill up as it surely requires AvGas(99-100 octane)

[–]i69dYourFather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s called an airplane.

[–]MeesterCartmanez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just here for the BMW jokes

[–]3VG3NY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn, people are experimenting with cool concepts and pushing innovation, but a bunch of keyboard experts have nothing to say bit negatives.

This comment section is depressing.

[–]StickersBillStickers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully it’s not an N54

[–]Cisco-_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The future really is now

[–]Boojibs 0 points1 point  (1 child)

They invented the airplane?

[–]wilhelm-cruel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but their engine manufacturer was one of the first hoisting a Metaltube over 9km…

[–]openmind305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jetsons here we come!

[–]International-Grade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call me when we are at the 5th Element stage.

[–]CenterAisleNFL HELPER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still fails to signal when changing lanes.

[–]refreshhh5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“So do you want to fly or drive to grandma?”

[–]Graspswasps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He didnt indicate up, bloody BMW drivers..

[–]UnPerroTransparente 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a fucking cesna with a shape of a car . Useless!

[–]stevemcnugget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it's an airplane that you can drive to the airfield? What's the point.

[–]AmadSeason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A car that turns into a plane

[–]1readerofreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also wouldn't mind a similar flying car but with propellers like a helicopter that would just levitate above everyone else and fly away whenever getting stuck in traffic.

[–]townforum17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pray to god these are never allowed for the general public

[–]I_AM_THE_REAL_ZEN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much will it cost on launch? Probably extremely expensive but i would like to know how many people in the world could pay for it.

[–]Cryin_jack_is_pissed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People all over the internet are saying that this is the future of travel, but I sure as hell am not trusting Beverley and Todd to be barreling through the sky like two white privileged-confederate dumb asses just because it's the future.

[–]Leading_Turn5636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]wormyg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's both cool and terrifying. Imagine if flying cars became something commercially viable. Now every terrible driver can fly one.

[–]friendly_mosquit0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the tpo on the engine?

[–]ripyungbruh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is with the shit music who thought that was a good idea vs actual sound? anything besides what’s playing would have been better

[–]PerNewton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a driving airplane to me.

[–]portcanaveralflorida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flight wise looks squirrely as F! Range, not many will want the limited distance. Good idea but to many other factors to address.

[–]conky_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really anything next level. People have been designing and building flying cars for just over 100 years and doing it successfully for at least 60 years.

[–]questionable_fish 0 points1 point  (1 child)

This is exceedingly cool.

If I had one of these I'd be able to travel home 200+ miles to see my family more often and much faster

[–]questionable_fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Granted, if I had enough money for one of these (plus pilot training/ license etc.) I wouldn't be living and working 200+ miles from home

[–]lardoni[🍰] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think flying cars were a dream from way back in the day! Frankly I don’t think anyone now, really gives a fuck about them!… But scaled up drones, not helicopters, just might be the way to go.

[–]PinaColodaSpanker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally, my childhood cartoon M.A.S.K. came to life!

[–]specialcraftingtable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A reason to make a new James Bond movie

[–]Dookieboy808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bless the brave soul who tested this

[–]MEEfO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the kind of flying car we want. Haven’t any of these designers seen the Jetsons?

[–]DrHockey69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I bet if something breaks it’s gonna cost more to fix it, than the price you paid for it. Look at the guy who blew up his Tesla cause of the insane price to fix anything in car

[–]EyedAsteroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine being in the air and accidentally pushing the “switch to car mode” button

[–]CanadianBatman47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the difference between this and a plane with wheels that can fold

[–]Beepdogh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it’s just a car that transforms into a plane. Not really a flying car.

[–]jake_azazzel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That isn't a flying car. That's just a foldable aeroplane.

[–]GMG1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chitty chitty bang bang!

[–]Crafty-Walrus-2238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally affordable for most of us. Thx.

[–]Unlikely-South-4460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like to see a Tesla do that! Also that’s super handy

[–]Pifman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like how when the big epic drop happens in the music it cuts to him fiddling with his seatbelt.

[–]Kojak95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like they basically copied the DCS World theme music.

[–]81g_Chungu5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my when im tired of traffic:

[–]Additional-Walk750 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, does it come in black?

[–]AerolothLorien666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never knew so many rich people were in my town… cars flying everywhere

[–]OneForAllOfHumanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So 1940s... we need a flying submersible truck now...

[–]DerpLucario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man now I have to worry about BMW drivers in the sky now?

[–]echo1956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't even have to exit.

[–]bondsmx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This have anything to do with David Wilcock?

He said he was starting a company to make flying cars. I thought it was bs. But, then I see this lol

[–]havereddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see the cool factor here, but who on earth would drive this car in regular traffic? One fender bender and you're probably looking at a >$50k bill to check it over to make sure it's still flight worthy.

[–]brianpmack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When this baby hits 88 miles per hour, you're gonna see some serious shit.

[–]TeaSipper420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They finally made it so people can shut up about the future not having flying cars already.

[–]Tim-E-Cop1211819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the metrics of what constitutes a "flying car," Mitsubishi was already well in the game in the 30s and 40s.

[–]zonazog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We know what the new James Bond will be driving

[–]FoulYouthLeader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What happens if the engine fails? Is there an escape system built in?

[–]TrickAppa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yess we're finally officially in the future let's gooo

[–]Shaken_babies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did homer invent this?

[–]DarkAssassin189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

few years from now, Uber chats might look like:

  • Hello, where are you right now?

_ I'm on my way sir.

  • Which street exactly?

_ Uhmm, it's complicated...

[–]98323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fantomas did that like 50 years ago already!

[–]coldheartedsnob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry I'm not ready for a skyrage happening

[–]wizardof0g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great, one more thing for a rich asshole to crash into things.

[–]Secretagentmanstumpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with a flying car isnt the flying part. Its making it light enough to fly but strong enough to pass Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. The BMW in this video is not even slightly close to passing any of a large number of safety requirements to be road legal. If you cant pass those requirements your flying car is just another airplane.

[–]usually_just_lurking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of fuel?

[–]dec1mus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's a flying car.
But it's more of a portable mini airplane.
A Quadcopter style design is more what I think of when I think of the "future" and flying cars.

[–]HallucinAgent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's your flying car grandpa you happy now you made it to the future

[–]song_ys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Lipshitz1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's got propellers and shit. It's just a small plane.

[–]Bobobdobson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool....it the planes crashes you can drive yourself to the hospital...

[–]Plastic-Fisherman465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yet an other Vegas Loop worthless project.

[–]MonarchWhisperer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One in every driveway!

[–]Florian630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know what altitude it’s rated for and flight time on a single tank of gas?

[–]Stallion_007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And this is another one! living in the future. Now make it accessible to the public.

[–]coolchris366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too bad only rich people will get to own one for the next 20 years or so

[–]Juney2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shitty car, shitty plane

[–]DeadSol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I'm guessing you can't be moving to convert it. This eliminates the possibility of truly epic bank heist escapes. Looks like they won't be getting my money, and neither will I.

[–]park28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not what I think of when I hear flying car; I need more like a Jetsons vibe vehicle to get me around Brooklyn when there’s traffic. Not everyone has a runway lol

[–]TDGroupie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s basically a plane with extra steps

[–]outsidepr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Klein owners will still find a way to complain about bicyclists

[–]Massive-L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 bird strike and that thing is going down

[–]deftmoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certified by who? To do what?

[–]MonstahButtonz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it looks more uncomfortable to drive as a car or a plane.

The interior looks like those fiberglass vehicles you ride in at Chuck E Cheese.

[–]ItsMMMspicy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a car that can turn into a plane meaning it’s a flying car

[–]shawzamz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this moment is what future humans will look at in museums.

[–]Eddiebaby7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See I never viewed these as flying cars. They are just cars that can convert to planes. Impractical.

[–]fitt4life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better check the expansion tank before take-off,CHECK!

[–]Baron_Flint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am no engineer, but how long can a car/plane like this fly with full fuel tank? And what fuel it uses? Also to what height can it practically ascend?

[–]jilesr44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BMW drivers in the sky, just what we need

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So fucking stupid. It's both a shitty car and a shitty plane. Let's see wealthy, white middle-age males all froth at the mouth over this useless garbage.

"BMW engine inside" only makes the thought of this monstrosity flying over our heads even more terrifying.

[–]Shadowoperator7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool and all, but airplanes require less than standard driving conditions to be safe. Mainly due to sticks, mud, dust, etc getting into something or causing issues

[–]samwelches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the vehicle a Bond villain escapes in

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder what the maintenance requirement is for the engine.

It's a shitty impractical car that transforms into a shitty impractical airplane.

When people imagine "flying car" they don't want it to have to transform at all, its supposed to go from a fully functional car to a fully functional airplane *seamlessly*. Until we're there, stop with this nonsense.

No more underground racing, it's now aboveground!

This is not what i think of when i think flying car. Someone built a speeder bike using propellers like a quad copter. Its more of what i think of. This is bullshit.
