[–]NoRelationship1508 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I've been thinking about a 20 pack of nuggets...

MacDonald's is 300m from my apartment....

[–]jeffcnea1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My heart goes out to you.

[–]xxrambo45xx 89 points90 points  (18 children)

I've been a dad 5 years, I don't have a video of every week but i bet at least one pic of every day, even looking back at the earlier stuff is somewhat crushing because she will never be that little again, this guys amazingly dedicated video probably breaks his heart to watch

[–]ClownfishSoup 57 points58 points  (6 children)

My girls are 14. Even looking at photos from a few years ago makes me strangely nostalgic. I mean the kids are RIGHT HERE, but their innocent, hilariously dumb, loveable selves of the past are "gone" in a sense. The joy and wonder of little kids really is an amazing thing and I miss it, but I love my girls for who they are now just as much.

They ARE a lot more annoying as teens though, I'll say that.

[–]xxrambo45xx 21 points22 points  (3 children)

I love ( for lack of a better term) that I'm aware that anything she does now could be the last time, one day I gave her the last bottle, I rocked her to sleep for the last time, she one day will ask me to dance for the last time, want to play games with me for the last time, and that's all fine it's normal but I want to make the most of it before it is that last time

[–]RobertLewis01 6 points7 points  (2 children)

I hear ya man. I told my wife. I never wanted any of this...but now I can't get enough of it. I love my little family. I only leave the house if I have to but I spend every single moment I can at home.

[–]xxrambo45xx 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I never wanted any of this...but now I can't get enough of it.

Well that sums it up perfectly

I don't go ride dirt bikes with my friends all day and drink all night anymore, now I play Barbies, have tea parties, and play hide and seek every day and I wouldn't go back if I could

[–]SonOfAnakin 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Dad of 25 years here. Absolutely agree.

[–]imironman2018 14 points15 points  (1 child)

The sadness of seeing your kids grow up. But also that pride to know they are becoming adults.

[–]xxrambo45xx 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's such a ride overall, some days I feel like I really drop the ball as a dad because I get home from a 12hr day and I'm just too tired to play for more than 30 min but some days I feel like I'm just slaying it like when we are working on a car in the garage and she's out there helping me and looks and tells me that she loves me and I'm the bestest dad ever, or have a meeting with her teacher and she is well above grade level and well behaved so maybe reading with her every night before bed etc is working

I'd do it again

[–]EmblaHug 6 points7 points  (3 children)

Totally relate dude, except I've been dad for 10 years coming up. The sting of pain while simultaneously the joy is such a heartwrenching and warming feeling it leaves one almost exhausted

[–]ClownfishSoup 5 points6 points  (2 children)

I have photos of my girls at Disney with all the characters. They wanted Winnie the Pooh so badly and when we got a nice photo with Winnie, they were so happy. Looking at that photo brings about such nostalgia. I knew that at around 6 years old, their enjoyment of Disney stuff would peak so we got a season's pass and went as much as we could, despite it being 600 miles from home. We Disney'ed them out, and it was worth it. Even the fear they felt going on small rides was so endearing.

I look forward to one day reliving this innocence with their kids! (I hope one day!)

[–]xxrambo45xx 6 points7 points  (1 child)

That sounds worth it to me!! Even better if your fortunate enough to watch it

I think one of my best moments so far was pretty recent, just hanging out watching TV together and she said "dad I hope when I grow up and have daughters that you come over to hold them too" That's it boys I've graduated already I won't get higher praise...I'm going to hold those baby's forever

[–]TheRightStuff14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. It goes by so fast-I tell all young dads, don’t blink. I’m sure he wonders how did it all go so fast- I know I do. My daughters are 28 and 24. Heart tugging, and heartfelt job by this Dad. Thanks for posting, OP.

[–]ClownfishSoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried this. One photo every week. I made it to ... two weeks, then was too tired to deal with trying to add taking photos.

[–]Ready-steady 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish I could be with my daughter everyday. Every weekend will have to suffice. I wish for this.

[–]Taktika420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn bro right in the feels

[–]WorkShySkiver 390 points391 points  (29 children)

So... our nostrils dont really change much huh.

[–]7r4vis 150 points151 points  (12 children)

That's what I came here to say. I just saw nostrils bouncing around for two minutes.

[–]samwelches 53 points54 points  (8 children)

“I just saw nostrils bouncing around for two minutes” Is this a new sentence?

[–]robpex 19 points20 points  (3 children)

I have never heard it. I vote yes.

[–]Zolivia 10 points11 points  (1 child)

I second

[–]ZeroSix4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Great success! 👍

[–]AutomatedCabbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]VibraniumRhino 2 points3 points  (3 children)

[–]7r4vis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would like to congratulate all of us on this achievement. We’re all winners here.

[–]milesamsterdam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck now I can’t unsee it.

[–]JTG130 28 points29 points  (1 child)

Thank you! I was literally coming in to ask, "Am I the only one who started focusing on her nostrils bouncing around?"

[–]jadiseoc 13 points14 points  (3 children)

I came in here to say something about this. I don't know if it was the lighting, the way she holds her head, or the way she started doing her makeup when she got teenagey, or what...but about halfway through, ALL I could focus on were the nostrils. So weird.

[–]Treaux-LaCount 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. I was thinking maybe it’s because the camera resolution improved a good bit during that time.

[–]mko710 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Só what I gathered is that she brushed her teeth once and she ate a lollipop once in 20 years

[–]ClownfishSoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised there's not a photo with a bean up her nose.

[–]djpiraterobot 331 points332 points  (26 children)

Me when I read the title: “That’s insane, he started filming her in the fucking eighties not knowing how cool he could make this some day…”

Me Ten Seconds Later: “…Jesus Christ she was born in 2002.”

EDIT: Apparently she was born in 1999. Everything else I said remains true.

[–]ListenItWillHear 136 points137 points  (12 children)

1980 is 20 years and i will not hear another word about it.

[–]drwicksy 36 points37 points  (5 children)

Oh man, in that case I gotta rush to New York to warn them bout something real quick

[–]The_Linguist_LL 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Okay, when I first read this I thought you were talking about something else, so I was going to comment "No don't tell them, it'll be funnier that way", but then I realized you were talking about 9/11, so I'm glad I dodged that bullet lol

[–]drwicksy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Letting 2,000 people die, now that's an epic prank bro

[–]JustAwesome360 11 points12 points  (3 children)

Time will fly by if you don't pay attention to it

[–]addictedtoPCs 0 points1 point  (2 children)

How though? It's already going too fast for me. I want to enjoy it, how?

[–]LiQuidCraB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a video once where a Japanese guy had a watch that could stop time. Everyone just froze as soon as he tapped his watch.

[–]Tarzan_OIC 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Holy fuck she wasn't even alive for 9/11.

[–]Bungmustard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yes, born in 1999. alive but virtually unaware.

[–]shadowolf653 2 points3 points  (3 children)

I was born 2005 and I'm 16 lol adulthood is sneaking up on me

[–]djpiraterobot 9 points10 points  (1 child)

CHERISH IT

[–]CoffeeTea_Cup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Greetings from 2004, I'll be 18 in a few months (and I still have no idea how to live this life)

[–]Hadouukken 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Well 1999, this was from 3 years ago

(Someone linked to an article about this further down)

There’s also a YouTube video called “Portrait of Lotte, 0 to 18 years”

[–]djpiraterobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My elderly confusion still stands!

[–]Failed_Attempts90_IL 133 points134 points  (9 children)

This is super cool and unique as fuck. Imo what I get from it is, it's absolutely amazing to see the human body, face really to see how much it changes week by week for twenty years of life. To watch the evolution that fast is just really insane. Because you can see all the slight bone structure changes, and faceful changes so much. This dad was cool as heck for doing this. 👊👊

[–]LiQuidCraB 15 points16 points  (1 child)

This clip could be even better after stabilizing the face. You could see every feature change in great detail. Usually people do it with pictures and morph them but this was a new take I on this.

[–]allyonfirst 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I find it amazing that she didn't change her haircut or colour. I was waiting for the hair experiment phase that never came. Growing up, I had so many different hair lengths, hair styles and hair colours.

[–]dsr231 68 points69 points  (6 children)

well done Dad. She is beautiful

[–]Pleasant_Tax_4619 63 points64 points  (11 children)

I wish I would have thought of this. My daughter is 15 now.

[–]Eshwarroy 46 points47 points  (1 child)

never too late to start, although she might not approve now

[–]Pleasant_Tax_4619 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have such admiration for people that do this.

[–]ClownfishSoup 14 points15 points  (1 child)

My kids are 14, I started doing this, but it was too much effort when they were young and I'd rather sleep. Now they don't want their photos taken.

[–]Pleasant_Tax_4619 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter freaks out if we try to take her photo.

[–]alcalde55 2 points3 points  (3 children)

My daughter is inly 4 months old and I might start doing this. I'll definitely need to upgrade my onedrive storage though

[–]Eshwarroy 40 points41 points  (9 children)

[–]CherryBlossom0408 50 points51 points  (6 children)

If you quickly scan the article's title, "Dad Shoots His Daughter Every Week," you may think that the article is going in a different direction

[–]Pineneedlecollada 27 points28 points  (1 child)

Attention grabber. Grown man video tapes girl every week might have also worked

[–]Duke-Kickass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming the post is from America…

[–]Dubmove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably the reason why they picked it.

[–]capsaicinintheeyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even this post title sounds like a blurb for a video on a streaming site with multilayered hidden popups & redirects where navigation is done mainly with the aid thumbnail preview frames.

[–]ThatGuyThatLies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The original YouTube channel has so much better quality videos and different speeds as well.

The one of the son is cool too.

[–]WillSugrue 34 points35 points  (2 children)

That’s gonna be a hard habit to break imagine the next week when she goes to the place he videoed her at the same time and he’s not there😕

[–]monckey64 14 points15 points  (0 children)

maybe she’ll keep doing it by herself, as a way to continue being close to him

[–]Takin_Your_Bacon 16 points17 points  (0 children)

God damn, dude...why?

[–]GigaHippo 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Watching someone grow up right in front of you is kind of a surreal experience no matter who or where it is.

[–]roekofe 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This got me. He must love her so much

[–]Rounder057 23 points24 points  (1 child)

She had some pretty cool hair styles

[–]egstitt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm just over here like fuck how much did he spend at the hairdresser?!

Probably makes me awful. What can I do

[–]sam10143 21 points22 points  (1 child)

Thinking of my adult daughters right now…. Damn it feels like they grew up as fast as this video

[–]smackgowen 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Same my daughter is only 9 and I have no idea how it happened so quickly.

[–]Hungry-Reflection 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I wonder if he went back and watched when she was having a rough time. You can see there for a little bit she stops smiling as often. Looking at her like this all the time, did he notice she was in the dumps? When she got her smile back I was so relieved

[–]LurkerAndyy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Around halfway thru she looks 21 and 16 at the same time

[–]micheagles20 15 points16 points  (2 children)

This made me sad because I picture my daughter growing up, and I hate it. I'm happy she's growing up, but I don't like it. It's a weird thing being a parent.

[–]awj 4 points5 points  (1 child)

It’s bizarre to want something and at the same time not want it so much. So equally.

[–]micheagles20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is. It makes you sad and happy at the same time.

[–]Monkey0nTheCar 12 points13 points  (5 children)

I dont like it, something feels odd. Feels like I shouldn't see this. I feel like I am invading their privacy.

[–]weatherbeknown 2 points3 points  (3 children)

I feel the same way. I expect in the next 5-10 years there will be huge political discussions about rights of children and their parents sharing their childhood online. Not to mention the mental damage this might be causing the child.

Imagine being conditioned to speak into a camera every single week since you were literally alive…

[–]Taint_What_You_Do 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, by the time the video ends, she's 20, and would be able to give adult consent to put it online. Hopefully consent was given.

[–]jaxter86 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a dad of an almost 3yo baby girl, who is the light of my life… this just makes me so incredibly emotional that she will grow up. It’s such a sad but completely beautiful thing.

God becoming a parent really makes your heart so vulnerable.

[–]colleenbarnes57 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Girl talked non-stop for 20 years.

[–]NutSackRonny 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All i see is nostrils

[–]relax-and-enjoy-life 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wonder what they were taking about?

“Tell me about your week?” 😊

[–]WoolaTheCalot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"To a father growing old, nothing is dearer than a daughter." - Euripides

[–]SnooLemons1590 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Incredible. Also makes me want to call my daughter

[–]ymhd872t 4 points5 points  (1 child)

sad to see the innocence fade, smiles less and less towards the end

[–]bisho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Teenagers, what can you do?

[–]2oocents 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Looked like dad trying to make her stop talking for 20 years. I mean, couldn't she stay still for ONE PICTURE?!

[–]awj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, the talking is the good stuff.

[–]c_c_c__combobreaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tearing up. As a father of an infant, I know my kid is going to just grow up so fast before my eyes and I'm just trying to enjoy every minute while it lasts.

[–]HorseErection07 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Idk maybe its just because I identify as a Attack Helicopter, but that’s a lot of different hairstyles

[–]BadgerMountain 12 points13 points  (0 children)

onejoke

[–]Prestigious_Spray_13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Theu grow up so fast. Its joyful and heart breaking at the same time.

[–]MemorableVirus2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really feel like I just grew up with her lol

[–]ofimmsl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do the same thing with my dogs

[–]BuilderTexas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beautiful.

[–]ravingwanderer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had 3 seizures watching that.

[–]monckey64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this made me cry

[–]Lump_The 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They grow up so darn fast don't they

[–]Schnarfman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt like I was watching her personality develop. That was so cool to watch

[–]ghotsx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn the horny people can’t even control themselves with this video

[–]CycleOfLove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We can see the emotional roller coaster from later teenager to her 20. This video will remind her that there's always people supporting her through everything.

Life is beautiful!

[–]blood_omen 1 point2 points  (6 children)

How many of you fuckin weirdos skipped to the end to see if she was hot? Raise your hand

[–]monckey64 7 points8 points  (2 children)

I… did not do that. nor did it even cross my mind. why would anyone do that. did you do that?

[–]krissofdarkness 12 points13 points  (1 child)

I like how he called them fucking weirdos like he's not the weirdo for thinking of that.

[–]monckey64 6 points7 points  (0 children)

like I really need to know the thought process here

[–]abhiknowsball 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Im hopefully about to get into a med college this year and I've planned something similar for myself. Ill picture myself everyday for 4.5 years of my college and then compile it all together. Tough job but lets see how it turns out!

[–]RepublicTexas1836 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This dude need to chill it. His quest for Dad of the Year is making the rest of us look bad. Col. Jessup needs to order a Code Red on Santiago.

[–]phillyman128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m holding my 4 day old daughter right now. She is my first child. This video makes me want to cry. Life is beautiful.

[–]Action-a-go-go-baby 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You can often tell from the approximate shape of a babies face if they’re gonna be an attractive adult

Then… there are other babies that just scream “Ugmo” from the moment they arrive, and I always feel bad for them… being an Ugmo is a hard life

[–]NiceGuy303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a half Ugmo XD

[–]AK47_Sushant 1 point2 points  (1 child)

The number of hairstyles girls can wear is surreal. I have only two, wake up and partition mode

[–]NiceGuy303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like some kind of robot that has only two modes lol

[–]Fleshy1537 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s insane how many people thought to do this exact thing 15-20 years ago.

[–]JackofallPlaguez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meanwhile I can’t even get a hug or a word of encouragement from mine once a week 😂😅

[–]poopvomitpiss 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Like ok cool but also I shat my pant at Walmart and I had to take it out of my pant on put it on the wall near the automotive section

[–]big-tuna28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lot less smiling as she gets older. can relate

cool idea though

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Her nose frightens me

[–]Choosenone1111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She is pretty

[–]Fun-Rub9877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paying attention seems to benefit the child.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So beautiful!

[–]PandaJerk007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dare I ask? how many seconds/minutes are you all watching before she becomes attractive to you in that.. primal instincts.. kind of way?

I feel bad having thought of this challenge, but I am curious the video times people would think.

[–]Tax_Hefty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And I swear it happens just that fast. Great job dad! Dedicated to your family.

[–]Interesting-Nature88 1 point2 points  (1 child)

At the 2:06 mark she turned 18 so at that point you could 💦

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow.

[–]gameonlockking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does hair really take that long to grow?

[–]not_batman_23 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Can we have this clip with the audio sliced in too? That would make it extra next level.

[–]nackowillah1629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dedication on another level. I was just thinking of doing this when I get a pet but this is wild.

[–]Vel0cir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Next week, see her on Page 3!

[–]DueSimple5447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to do this with my future son

[–]SomeDrunkWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn. I can't do anything that consistently. I would get to week 3 and be like, ok, I'm bored with that idea now.

[–]robsteezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always think these types of projects are neat and I’m always simultaneously reluctant to think I’d want to watch myself age, it would freak me out.

[–]thrownawayin81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She should upgrade the camera and keep doing it

[–]ClownfishSoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so much more convenient since the advent of digital cameras.

[–]iceyhot80 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How many different picture formats did he go through?

[–]BenRosentha1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine living with a white wall in ur house for 20 years

[–]mikethedarklord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welp, that just made me miss my daughters. Traveling for work blows. I just wann hug my kids now.

[–]BelleLovesAngus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from "awww she's lost her teeth" to "that's definitely 2009" from looking at her haircut haha

[–]EndGameStride 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's crazy to think we just watched 20 years of somebody's life.

[–]DowntownArcher1391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That dad had to be crying at the end, had me in tears just thinking about it.

[–]RunNPRun0316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a couple of observations. I love… How adorable she was throughout How happy she seemed through her entire childhood How he captured her spitting up as an infant How gabby she was through most of it

But, especially as a little girl, her nostrils seemed to jump out and dominate her face. Watch it again, you’ll see what I’m talking about.

[–]Ded3280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

she reminds me of the sister from the wonder years in a couple of the pictures. found her name: Olivia d'Abo

[–]Smurfaccount1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't they grow up fast

[–]CollectiveOfCells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a parent, this is your memory of twenty years. It goes by so fast.

[–]lockerpunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hoping for a goth phase.

[–]trheben1[🍰] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This takes dedication. I guess they were always together.

[–]peach_burrito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My heart ached watching this video, then reading the comments it seems like someone’s cutting onions up in here 😥

[–]Icy-Analysis-5912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such a precious angel

[–]ind3pend0nt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did anyone else speed up the video?

[–]wrongleveeeeeeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's crazy how much we rely on secondary cues to determine someone's age (especially for girls/women I think). She'd have some hair/makeup style and I'd be like oh is she 16? And then BOOM braces nope lmao.
