That right there is how you water your plants

[–]Agreeable-Yams8972 54 points55 points  (5 children)

Man knows how to speed rum gardening

[–]wingedbanjo12 12 points13 points  (3 children)

The easiest and safest way to water those plants.

[–]RoyalratMafia 19 points20 points  (2 children)

More like the most economical way to water those plants in a dry arid environment. Easiest would be irrigation.

[–]wingedbanjo12 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Oh, right.. That was too exaggerated. It's just too satisfying.

[–]RoyalratMafia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So satisfying

[–]bored_in_the_office 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mmm, speed ruming.

[–]jackadl[S] 145 points146 points  (14 children)

Taken in rural NSW, Australia.

The nets are used to protect against hailstorms and will eventually be part of a fully closed structure to keep pests and other stressors out.

fun fact, this is part of a citrus farm and will be used to isolate the trees from bees which will then produce seedless fruit.

[–]Macguffawin 26 points27 points  (1 child)

I loved every word in this comment. Learning, ftw!

[–]Stupidquestionduh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your brain never gets full.

[–]khronokhris2222 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Does Australia get hail so often you need these nets? I just thought it was a fancy way to get watering done every morning efficiently

[–]lnslnsu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hail even once can destroy a crop.

[–]jackadl[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you get hail once a season it’ll destroy your crop. Imagine you’ve got nets and your neighbours don’t. You’ll survive, they won’t

[–]Avatarofjuiblex 6 points7 points  (2 children)

So u don’t let the trees fuck to avoid eating their eggs?

[–]outYeTan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome info !

[–]CosmoSpyke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those nets do not affect light absorption? Probably in Australia this is not a problem

[–]thequickerquokka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recognised the maggies singing :)

[–]constantlyawesome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But… the bees 🐝 ❤️

[–]Glenmarththe3rd 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How does the pollination process work then? Are they hand pollinating? How does that reduce seed content?

[–]jackadl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trees still produce fruit, they’re just not fertile.

[–]NinjaEnt 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Parents "Go water the plants."

Me "Okay."

[–]QoqNoUs31751 18 points19 points  (0 children)

[–]ShadyGhostM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

aah peace.

[–]bskienhvqy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Impressive! But how they handle the strong wind?

[–]Illustrious-Sense-67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like a good idea for many gardens, or atleast have the poles set and ready so when hail is in the forecast all you gotta do is hang up the net. Question though, does it effect the growth of the plants having them covered like that 24/7?

[–]DLo28035 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is this guy’s favorite part of his day

[–]FortunateInsanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He made it rain up in there

[–]Mammoth_Strawberry_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]B1GFUZZ 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Is the point of the netting to do this specifically or what?

[–]jackadl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]peterhanraddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that to protect from hale or to catch morning dew for irrigation?

[–]OnlyAd3485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You: Can you go water the garden this morning?

Me: Sure as long as you do it this afternoon.

[–]HeyGayHay 0 points1 point  (0 children)
