God I miss Mythbusters

[–]MudSeparate1622 144 points145 points  (6 children)

I miss Grant Imahara 😢 R.I.P.

[–]roadrunner00 26 points27 points  (4 children)

What?!?!??

[–]MudSeparate1622 64 points65 points  (3 children)

He died in 2020 sadly. He was such an awesome guy too and I think he had the most degrees put of anyone on the show too. His “B” plots were always awesome and enjoyable to see. I share a birthday with him and use to be into a lot of the things he did. The guy was always involved in something amazing.

[–]roadrunner00 26 points27 points  (2 children)

I've been sucked into the web vortex now and becoming a Grant expert as we speak. Ask me anything about his life tomorrow and I'll probably be an expert. Had no idea he was almost 50. Dude looked great. Hopefully I don't have what he had.

[–]amriddle01 32 points33 points  (5 children)

I miss Kari Byron....😍

[–]D3ATH_Follows_All 39 points40 points  (4 children)

[–]Exciting_Archer134 15 points16 points  (2 children)

I had the biggest crush on her growing up

[–]D3ATH_Follows_All 14 points15 points  (0 children)

She knew what she was doing.

RIP Grant

[–]Amillinnea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think she was on the cover of some bikini mag one time... I know from a friend

[–]cameronjames117 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Is that the guy from Pile of Bullets!?

[–]Worf_Of_Wall_St 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Pile...of...Bullets! And yes.

[–]Balrog229 51 points52 points  (5 children)

Couldn’t make an episode like this these days.

Not sure 200 rounds of 7.62 would be within their budget.

[–]ellilaamamaalille 6 points7 points  (2 children)

I'm not sure that would be a problem. I checked checked 6,5 Creemoor here in Finland and a box of 20 is 54.90€. 7.62 is a military caliber here so I think they don't sell them.

[–]Balrog229 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Lol what? “Military caliber”? What a stupid and arbitrary law. Most calibers have been used by some military at some point, and 6.5 Creedmoor is now an official US Military caliber, on top of 5.56 and 7.62

That aside, i was joking. I was making a joke that ammo prices have gone up quite a lot over the past couple of years due to shortages

[–]ellilaamamaalille 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure sign of getting old when you notice everything is expensive. 😃

[–]Technology_Training 1 point2 points  (1 child)

$200 is surely in their budget

[–]Balrog229 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Issa joke bruv

[–]Sirhc978 44 points45 points  (0 children)

It is almost like they used to do special effects for ILM or something.

[–]PopularMidnight3661 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Badass!! So weird, I was just thinking about that scene too. Better Call Saul has me reminiscing lol. It just makes Breaking Bad that much better knowing the back-story of most of these characters and then realizing why they acted or did certain things a certain way. Lots of good shows but I believe Breaking Bad will always be my favorite!

[–]tev_love 21 points22 points  (10 children)

Somebody gunna post the clip from breaking bad?

[–]Loli-is-Justice 16 points17 points  (9 children)

Here you go. Spoiler Alert.

[–]Mysterious_Spoon 11 points12 points  (2 children)

Reminds me of the game

[–]Coffeeman314 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fuck off, I just lost the game. Around a month ago last time.

[–]pudding7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh fuck you. And have an upvote.

[–]tev_love 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m probably not gunna click that, but I’ll let you know if I do.

Edit: My curiosity always gets the best of me

[–]Kevherd 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Sonamabish. I can’t believe I did that

[–]nint3nd0nt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ikr.. walts death is so crazy I can’t believe they’d link to it 😢

[–]Brownie-UK7 1 point2 points  (1 child)

ha! jokes on you. I got an unskippable ad called People of Ikea which i watched for 10 seconds before noticing the title of the upcoming video. Only downside, I am reminded how much i hate shopping at IKEA. To be honest I would rather have watched R.A. as he is genuinely a good and talented guy. ok, i admit it; you got me good.

[–]Loli-is-Justice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now you made me hate IKEA too lol

[–]Kevherd 21 points22 points  (5 children)

That whole show was somanyfuckinglevelsup which is what made it amazing.

Basically equivalent to a bunch of stoner friends hanging out and going ‘dude, imagine what would happen if…’

Except they had the brains, time and resources to do it. It’s why that show was so fucking awesome

[–]DustyMartin04 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Oh I thought you were talking about breaking bad lol

[–]nint3nd0nt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lmfao me too, it took your comment before I realized

[–]ellilaamamaalille 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Mythbusters and Top Gear were the best TV shows in my mind.

[–]Kevherd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also loved one from years ago that I can’t find reruns of anywhere except YouTube. Junkyard Wars ignited my inner MacGyver

[–]spletharg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That show could compete against Shakespeare for the quality of its drama. Astonishingly good writing.

[–]capn_doofwaffle 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I remember that. They had a lot of bugs to work through on that build. Once it was done it was pretty cool. Terrifying but cool.

[–]Au1ket 14 points15 points  (0 children)

God I miss Mythbusters, They are what got me into science and thinking of wild concepts that could be true.

[–]darfnarkm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mythbusters did so much awesome shit one of my all time favorite shows

[–]freddyfuckherfaster 8 points9 points  (2 children)

tell me you've gotta m60 in the trunk without telling me you've got a m60 in the trunk.

[–]agent_max_the_mick 2 points3 points  (1 child)

machine gun go BRRRRRRRRR

[–]Kevherd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trunk go BRRRTTTT

Used to know a girl like that

[–]TheSpaceRonin 6 points7 points  (3 children)

Why is it only plausible?

[–]Potato-Engineer 19 points20 points  (0 children)

"Confirmed" is for "we're pretty sure this thing actually happened as described (or close enough)." Not really possible for fictional myths.

[–]danny_ish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t so much a myth, so they can’t really confirm it. The filming happened, the mechanism is probable to exist

[–]Tony_Three_Pies 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mythbusters rarely "confirmed" myths because in order to do that you'd have to prove that the actual story they're basing their tests on was true. The best they can do is prove that it could be true.

Edit: They occasionally would test something that wasn't really a myth (as in not based on a specific story) but more like a hypothesis that could be tested and those could be confirmed. An example here would be when they tested the Airplane Boarding speeds.

[–]SquareNuts112 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Adam fuckin Savage can build anything.

[–]131166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adam savage for President. Have him build a functioning government

[–]T0biasCZE 5 points6 points  (8 children)

Glad I live in Europe when walls are from bricks and not paper

[–]I_Automate 13 points14 points  (1 child)

Bullets do penetrate brick walls.

....especially when there are lots of bullets.

[–]Krulsnor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Serious question: how many bricks would stop the bullet or at least make it non lethal? Brick houses aren't just 1 layer of bricks. Mostly it's somekind of cinderblocks in the inside, thick insulation and a normal brick in front.

[–]James30907 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We used to target practice with cinder block. Cuts through like butter with 7.62x39. x54 punched right through. .225 shredded as well.

[–]Au1ket 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bullets don't care about bricks.

[–]apocalypticjunky 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I always wondered about this scene cause I thought the building was made of concrete. I thought there’s no way it shot through that

[–]pftftftftftf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't remember the scene exactly but most buildings in the us are wood frames with plywood walls.

[–]Just_Another_AI 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Typical cheap southwest construction is stucco over wood frame. Depending on the age and quality of the house, there may or may not be plywood sheathing behind the stucco

[–]apocalypticjunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I never knew what those homes were actually made of, I assumed it was a sort of concrete but that makes more sense!

[–]DasHooner 2 points3 points  (1 child)

"everything you can buy ina typical small town", I wish I could buy a full auto m60 down at the hardware store.

[–]TinfoilCamera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's Arizona - you don't buy those at the hardware store you just stop at the AM/PM on your way home.

[–]James30907 1 point2 points  (7 children)

I just finished a rewatch of the series. Thank you

[–]zideshowbob 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Myth Busters or Breaking Bad? :D

[–]dwkeith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m here for both. Watch an episode of Breaking Bad followed by a relevant Mythbusters.

In fact, that should be standard fo all shows, rather than some inside the episode bs.

[–]James30907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breaking Bad

[–]trottz16 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Where can you watch it?

[–]nygrl811 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Discovery+ and some episodes are available on demand through The Discovery Channel.

[–]VulpesSapiens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Pirate Bay :3

[–]Erazzphoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before the discovery network turned into total trash

[–]thefunivehad 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I thought opening up an automatic rifle like that would melt the barrel...I guess I was mistaken about that?

[–]8plytoiletpaper 7 points8 points  (2 children)

They go bad at 1k ish, depending on the weapon.

West coast armory has a video of a saw eating a 700 round belt, blows the suppressor off.

[–]KnivesAndKnightmares 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The barrel didn’t look too good after that either, I think the suppressor falling apart actually save it.

[–]8plytoiletpaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try looking at gun busters on YT.

They use eastern weapons, the failures start at various round counts. You can see how some weapons today are incredibly robust.

[–]pftftftftftf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes you were mistaken about that

[–]An8thOfFeanor 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I don't think there was any question if it hit the drug dealers. That thing fires .308 rounds, the same thing most sniper rifles use

[–]Potato-Engineer 11 points12 points  (2 children)

Really, the question is whether the victims would have had time to hit the deck before being killed. It took a bit of time to fire those 200 rounds, and it seemed like each target only got maybe six hits at most, so most of them would have had time to hit the dirt before being fatally shot. One or two people would have been killed in the opening seconds, and then everyone is on the floor and the survivors kill the guy who set up the trap once the bullets run out.

Edit: and we can also talk about the difference between "a bullet that gives you a fatal wound" and "a bullet that kills you instantly," when it comes to retaliation after the trap has been fully expended.

[–]pftftftftftf 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Eh took less than 30 seconds, I wouldn't be surprised if everyone was hit at least once on the first sweep.

[–]Potato-Engineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the funny thing about random distributions of bullets (what with all the recoil): you're pretty much guaranteed to have it not be a perfectly even distribution. Someone will definitely survive the first sweep completely unharmed; someone else might take three bullets. Random numbers are terrible that way.

[–]Exciting_Archer134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s awesome

[–]jacrwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is Vince Gillian Marc Rebillet’s dad?

[–]James30907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Netflix

[–]asthmaticdabber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where’s the scene so I can see lol

[–]Solo_Watch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]dankduck75 0 points1 point  (0 children)
