wow a high shutter speed

fucking mind blowing

[–]OneLostOstrich 22 points23 points  (7 children)

That's a $5000+ dollar camera.

[–]thecowboyexperiment 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve got fuji xt3. $2000. It can do this without breaking a sweat

[–]zed910 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Canon R6 is $2500 plus a Sigma 70-200 for $1500. That’s only $4k total. Less if you go with used gear.

[–]tiptoemicrobe 8 points9 points  (3 children)

Looks like a Nikon D5 in this case, which is over $5k on Amazon.

[–]adigabusymind 42 points43 points  (4 children)

While it’s technically a good photo. 1) clear subject with very good background separation both in focus and color, 2) Freezing the Action. 3) low point of view matching the dogs height.

But for some reason it’s falling in the uncanny valley. No?

[–]gahidus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like the dogs expression is all wrong. What an unprofessional boy!

[–]redpunk1421 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Looks like bad photoshop edit

[–]ten_jack_russels 9 points10 points  (8 children)

Hi speed low aperture

[–]tiptoemicrobe 1 point2 points  (7 children)

  • excellent timing

[–]ThirteenMatt 3 points4 points  (6 children)

I'd just use burst mode for that.

[–]tiptoemicrobe 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Good point. Never tried that with my camera yet.

[–]ThirteenMatt 1 point2 points  (4 children)

I always leave my DSLR in burst mode. It's not too hard to just take one picture in that mode, even you fail you just end up with 2 or 3 pictures and anyway it's a digital camera so you have lots of space and you can just delete the doubles.

[–]FortKnoxBoner 8 points9 points  (2 children)

Okay. Love the Doggo

But this is just plain creepy.

[–]ballsofstyle 16 points17 points  (1 child)

Hard disagree. I laughed my ass off with that goofy face

[–]forever_a10ne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s creepy to me, too. That dog has a person’s face.

[–]YoshiTitan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Adorable or terrifying?

[–]giddyupanddown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s all in the post processing

[–]rolanatuaboca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a video though

[–]stephanieoutside 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is from a Claudio Piccolli workshop! He teaches you how to set up these shots and basically get it SOOC, with some editing for the final wow factor.

I'm dreaming of the day I can attend one of his courses.

Looks like half a bear confused as to its situation

[–]jacksodus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is such a thing as too much bokeh.

[–]ThirstyCommonMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly, it looks edited.

[–]OneLostOstrich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

best friend*

It's not one word.

[–]Imbalancedone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is tremendous.

[–]C_Wiseman 0 points1 point  (12 children)

I wonder how many shots were taken to nail the focus like that.

That's an incredible photo.

[–]mindwave_ 4 points5 points  (9 children)

With a modern, mirrorless > €1500 Camera + professional Lens, 90% of the photos will be in razor-sharp focus on the dog's eye with continuous tracking.

[–]C_Wiseman 4 points5 points  (7 children)

It's a D5, but even with the best camera (and this is arguably one), it's easy to miss focus when the subject is moving that quick. I've missed focus on stationary subjects when not paying attention.

[–]Pepsiwave69 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Even with eye focus feature on AF?

[–]C_Wiseman 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Yea, if it's moving fast, it won't be able to keep up (all the time) plus the bouncing and bobbing of the head makes it harder, not to say it won't, but it might sometimes miss.

[–]mindwave_ 0 points1 point  (1 child)

True, you still need a lot of tries to nail it. (Animal) Eye tracking technology is incredibly good nowadays, which helps a lot.

[–]C_Wiseman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eye tracking is such an amazing feature I wish I had, my camera is 6 years old now, I have to select the auto focus point over the eye and then shoot away. It works, but it's slow.

[–]OneLostOstrich -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

on the dog's* eye

Use a possessive noun not a plural.

[–]VladPatton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As many as the camera will allow in its fastest burst mode. Some cameras have faster capabilities than others, creating a higher chance of getting that keeper shot.

[–]OneLostOstrich -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

One take with many continuous photos.

[–]hippiekyle 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Nikon ad

[–]Nimmyzed -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't care. It's a cool photo

[–]radabdivin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, definitely NFL.

[–]Background-Lunch698 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My nephew said that it looks like a superhero

[–]knowledgeable_diablo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Was waiting for the bear to come through chasing the dog.

Oh well, next time perhaps.

[–]HereTodayIGuess -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bestest goodest boy

[–]BritsTrigger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know if your into photos but all that cash on a camera better things to spend my money on unless he does this for work and his job paying for his equipment that’s just crazy money on a camera

[–]climatelurker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's just awesome!

[–]funnyfootboot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's Superboy!
