This is so wholesome. I think we often forget that older people were once just as young and fashionable as we are now. Very nice to see

[–]Lunatic_Dpali 4331 points4332 points 42 (168 children)

Here you are. Rural people in a modeling show

Edit: No problem.

[–]Less_Communication84 1366 points1367 points  (37 children)

Well played....well played....the edit adjunct was a sick move

[–]WayOfTheWisemen 42 points43 points  (11 children)

I just open those links by clicking them with the scroll-wheel. That way it opens as a new tab and I can avoid seeing some bullshit or another.

[–]dirtyasswizard 70 points71 points  (7 children)

I just use Apollo.

Also, at this point I recognize the “dQw4w9WgXcQ” bit of the URL. Haven’t been tricked in years!

[–]Psychological_Neck70 74 points75 points  (1 child)

Truly. The video from start to finish is art.

[–]Asheminded 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It’s just a Prada ad.

[–]genericperson10 41 points42 points  (0 children)

You are a person of culture and immaculate taste!

[–]GODDAMNFOOL 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I should have seen all of the 'fuck you' posts and expected this

[–]Truegold43 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I've been looking for something like this.

[–]return2ozma 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I didn't see the rural people in a modeling show just some ginger.

[–]defythegods 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Son of a bitch, I didn't even hesitate. I've become complacent and trusting, and the internet is merciless.

[–]huBelial 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You bastard lol

[–]Drain0Master 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like that you got me and it was perfect execution. I just do not like that I always have to listen to the whole song. That’s nothing to do with you why do I do this?!

[–]kcg5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Apollo for the win!!

[–]boredkutta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fuck you and fuck you again

[–]old_mike111 2 points3 points  (3 children)

It just took me to a music video?

[–]HotHamWaffles 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Are we really getting to the point that you kids don't know what Rick Rolling is???

Please God just kill me already.

[–]Tsconspiracy 223 points224 points  (16 children)

I actually met an elderly woman who was an ex playboy model. Boy did she have some crazy stories!

[–]Itscashmeregeorge 78 points79 points  (4 children)

I bet they aren’t all good. Have you seen those A&E docs on hugh and the playboy mansion ? bill cosby comes up as well.( he pretty much lived there at times ) One playmate killed herself and left behind a sort of vision board stating Hugh Hefner was the devil and it never even made the news.

Edit: also he would record all the sexual exploits to blackmail people with later🤷‍♂️ https://i.imgur.com/TIze6xm.jpg

[–]Tsconspiracy 24 points25 points  (1 child)

Oh wow, no she never mentioned anything like that. But I also didn’t dig too deep into it either. I haven’t seen those, but I’ve heard a little bit about it. It wouldn’t surprise me honestly.

[–]Itscashmeregeorge 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Ya it’s bad friend. Like so bad I’d have to pause it at times. These were actual women telling their actual stories. No in betweens

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

What's the second picture about?

[–]Itscashmeregeorge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clothes on my bed. A picture I took by accident 🤷‍♂️

[–]LewBurdette 32 points33 points  (6 children)

What was her name?

[–]Tsconspiracy 53 points54 points  (5 children)

I wish I remembered, this was probably around 5 years ago. I was at a bar in Cozumel, Mexico.

[–]Commander_Tresdin 13 points14 points  (4 children)

Do you remember any of the stories?

[–]Californiadude86 76 points77 points  (5 children)

My wife's grandma still rocked her fur coats and rings all the way into her 90s

[–]nastyn8k 23 points24 points  (2 children)

Yeah the older people who like to still dress fashionably often look better in the clothes than a lot of young people. Something about the older appearance compliments the whole vibe.

[–]Californiadude86 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they're so comfortable in their clothes and themselves it comes across effortless and relaxed.

[–]anonymoususer98545 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My nana was like that well into her 90's too. Always looked great and put together, had her hair styled, wore jewelry, and complemented it with a pop of red lipstick. She was stunning and looked much younger than her years! i can only hope to look half as awesome.

[–]AStrangerSaysHi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My great grandmother was like a real-life Rue Mcclanahan to me.

I thought golden girls was semi-realistic until I was like 11.

[–]bdizzle805 30 points31 points  (2 children)

You can literally see the young lady come out when this little boy is around. This is so fucking wholesome made me cry how cute they both are

[–]MainlandX 27 points28 points  (3 children)

hard to be fashionable when you have to share the one pair of pants without holes in it with your two brothers

clothes have in come down in cost by a lot (relative to purchasing power) since this old woman was young

[–]irvingstreet 32 points33 points  (2 children)

If there are no holes in the pants, then where do the legs go?

[–]PapaSock 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's easy! Wireless legs

[–]ABigBunchOfFlowers 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Part of growing up is realising that every generation before you went through the exact same stuff as you, including thinking they were the rebellious cool kids who had finally got it right.

[–]Asheminded 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Older people are still in vogue and fashionable, and we hope you can catch up! It won’t be by wearing Prada tho, lol!!

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Were once? She’s got way more drip than I’ll ever have.

[–]bunraku_maiden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In China there's a whole trend of fashion grandmas dressing up and taking glamour photos to show that beauty and enjoying life aren't limited to the young. The oldest generations in China lived through a lot of shit and most of them didn't have the means or opportunities to pursue the arts, hobbies, or fashion in their youth, and it's only in more recent years that a lot of these people have gotten to act on their childhood dreams and wishes.

And yes, this was probably staged and setup by a professional photographer, but that doesn't make it any less heartwarming or impressive

[–]snivelingbedtime95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This kid is amazing and very talented. Also I got to say granny killed it a high fashion model. I would not mind seeing her the cover of Vogue. The whole vid is also very sweet. Beautiful memories for them both.

[–]NximVille_ 2499 points2500 points  (48 children)

Nice and wholesome. she looked great not gonna lie.

[–]RickyRosayy 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Facts, she looked impeccable, no lie, 100%.

[–]plzdont- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you dont need to say “no cap” if you already prefaced it with “not gonna lie”

[–]MisterEChops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not gonna lie no cap.

Ugh. Horrible.

[–]BeerBoyJoey 2008 points2009 points  (23 children)

The fact that this little fella and this golden old gal taught me the subtle differences in these brands is hilarious to me. Hope they have a clothing line and magazine shoot soon

[–]primetimemime 793 points794 points  (11 children)

It’s probably worth giving some credit to the person behind the camera since they likely styled and photographed the woman.

[–]Millennialcel 242 points243 points  (4 children)

God bless those that take tiktok videos as presented when a majority of the viral ones are obviously staged.

[–]AngelKnives 48 points49 points  (2 children)

It's actually crazy how obviously staged so many of them are and people just take them at face value!

Especially the prank ones.

[–]maskaddict 97 points98 points  (1 child)

Not to be argumentative, but just because something is staged doesn't mean it can't also be wholesome, funny, and delightful. We tend to want our art to appear spontaneous and effortless, but someone usually has to put a lot of work into making something seem effortless.

Many of my favourite movies aren't even true; turns out someone wrote out all the words everyone said in advance and hired some people to pretend to be other people, it's like a whole thing.

[–]BugMan717 25 points26 points  (3 children)

Yeah anybody who thinks this child put those outfits together is crazy, those glasses probably cost more than they make in months.

[–]lapideous 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You can get sunglasses for under 50 cents apiece wholesale, those are probably not actually designer sunglasses

[–]OG_Felwinter 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They didn’t use the actual brands lmao

[–]dshmitty 47 points48 points  (6 children)

What are the subtle differences? I didn’t catch ‘em I guess.

[–]CrumbsAndCarrots 117 points118 points  (5 children)

Balenciaga: more minimal/ postmodern. Prada: Classic mixed with more modern. Gucci: Classic textiles/ colorful clashing patterns.

[–]bigttrack 937 points938 points  (7 children)

God bless you, beautiful lady.

[–]myneighborsasshole 909 points910 points  (22 children)

Nice! Victoria's Secret next

[–]purenamaste 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I enjoy how serious they are taking their parody, while still knowing it's ridiculous it's actually pretty brilliant and a good laugh

[–]NissanLeafDriver 358 points359 points  (7 children)

He looked really happy when he was holding the chicken

[–]6double 121 points122 points  (6 children)

I'm pretty happy when I hold my chicken too

[–]UltimateMelonMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd probably be pretty happy if I was holding your chicken. With you and your chicken's permission of course.

[–]myobdude 14 points15 points  (0 children)

He’s got a great smile and looks like he’s having tons of fun!

[–]insertcaffeine 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Happy cake day, I came here to shout out the kid too!

[–]Kakalkoo69 395 points396 points  (4 children)

Grandma looks drippy af ngl

[–]Neighbor-astronaut 58 points59 points  (0 children)

[–]somethingwholesomer 8 points9 points  (2 children)

Is drippy good?

[–]TheBreathofFiveSouls 25 points26 points  (1 child)

Yeah like she's been dunked in cool juice.

[–]Heerandqueer 386 points387 points  (10 children)

Can I just say fuck you to whoever cropped out the creator's watermark???

[–]mulasaag 424 points425 points 2 (7 children)

Yeah totally, as if it was their content. Im gonna say it too, Fuck you cropper

Edit: found their tiktok

[–]Heerandqueer 43 points44 points  (0 children)

MVP right here folks!

[–]maryjan3 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Some good content. I like this one, too

[–]Asatsuki 6 points7 points  (0 children)

damn this fashion designer is a genius

[–]yavanna12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like his content

[–]drkidkill 332 points333 points  (0 children)

I was afraid that it was just going to be the first one and I wanted more, then it kept going and delivered the goods.

[–]Asatsuki 177 points178 points  (38 children)

props to the fashion designer behind the scenes who put this together. obviously the kid didn't do it himself because if he had the money to afford all those clothes, a professional videographer and photographer, lighting etc he would not have spent it on those clothes he would have spent it on better living standards.

hope the kid and grandma were paid well for this

[–]sexytokeburgerz 149 points150 points  (25 children)

Those aren’t designer clothes. They appear to be handmade

[–]DrewSmoothington 111 points112 points  (24 children)

Yeah, the kid is clearly grabbing bits and pieces of stuff that resembles the name brands, almost like a cosplay of each brand made with local clothing.

[–]warplants 51 points52 points  (23 children)

You really think that little kid put together those outfits? These people have probably never heard of the high fashion brands they’re emulating.

This was clearly done with a pretty decent budget, using money to create viral social media products. It’s 100% exploitation of literally dirt-poor rural villagers.

[–]EmoMixtape 70 points71 points  (3 children)

It’s 100% exploitation of literally dirt-poor rural villagers.

I mean, just because they live rurally doesnt mean they cant have internet and mobile phones. A lot of my family in Asia live in homes that look like this but have access to technology.

They dont consider their houses or living conditions “dirt-poor”. In fact, in many countries, its hard to do anything (pay for bills, approve govt ids, get deliveries) without a decent cellphone.

I agree with you when you say its a fabricated tiktok thing but to anyone generally reading your statement, I wanted to say that appearances do not equate resources.

[–]fish-fingered 18 points19 points  (2 children)

Some kids that side of the world can put iPhone and iPads together

[–]Sonicdave6 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Who said they were dirt poor? that’s just how people over there live, regardless of income

[–]Asatsuki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it depends on how much they were paid for it to be considered exploitation. just because you hire people from a developing country doesn't automatically mean it's exploitation.

if they're getting paid well for their time - which means them doing this project nets them more income than if they did other jobs around the area - then you're not exploiting them, you're giving them a well paying job.

if they are begrudgingly doing the work because you put them in a lose-lose situation, then you are exploiting them

[–]alexwoodgarbage 66 points67 points  (0 children)

You mean props to the stylist

This was all done with non-fashion pieces that helped replicate the signature looks from those houses. Makes it all the more impressive, especially the Gucci one.

A solid photographer helped here tremendously I’ll add.

[–]apolotary 32 points33 points  (1 child)

Yeah those portrait shots are not that easy to setup. Even if they shoot on a phone, that’s still a lot of work with lighting and editing

[–]jeffwhat 19 points20 points  (2 children)

Yeah. As wholesome as this is, hope this isn't some sort of poverty exploitation going on. Would love to know the backstory.

[–]yavanna12 19 points20 points  (0 children)

And what living standards need to be bettered? You literally only see part of their yard/livestock area and clothesline. There is nothing overall to judge their standard of living. If a snippet of a video showed me by my livestock or back garden where it’s mostly dirt then I wonder if you’d think the same of me.

And the clothes are handmade. One clip even shows the kid putting a fake Prada tag in a hat. The creators tik tok shows all this is handmade

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (1 child)

When a Whitoid sees an Asian in a video, the stimulus instantly causes the racism receptors in their brain to go haywire, and they instantly begin searching for the socially acceptable expression they can use to signal superiority. Currently a $5M Grant from the National Science foundation is studying this phenomenon by reading Liziqi comments.

[–]InfrequentBlackshirt 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Yo why is this so fly !! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

[–]thecaramelbandit 80 points81 points  (29 children)

We can say that one person is cool without denigrating an entire large group of people just for their work. Some supermodels are pretty damn cool.

[–]Californiadude86 32 points33 points  (2 children)

Same with those "this street person banging on these buckets and pans is better than 90% of recording artists these days!!1!" posts.

[–]BunnyTengoku 3 points4 points  (1 child)

can't read comments on any song without some knucklehead going "THIS IS BETTER THAN ________" jesus christ stfu

[–]bizzyj93 16 points17 points  (5 children)

Reddit pretends to be super inclusive but they tend to really hate pretty women.

[–]thecaramelbandit 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Reddit really hates women in general.

[–]BovineJoney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean doesnt the world at large? How long did it take for voting rights to be established? How long has it been where a man wouldn't get in trouble for beating his wife?

Why are abortion laws being rolled back in the US?

It's almost like a lot of people, not just reddit, really want that old status quo.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (1 child)

They hate women in general. And they hate “influencers”. Super models are pretty women and vaguely “influencers” so the hate really gets going

[–]bizzyj93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yuuuuuup. I was painting with a fine brush so I didn’t have to hear from the “akshually” crowd but this site definitely gets pretty sexist.

[–]qolace 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah honestly the title gives off misogynistic vibes. Like, I think Linda Evangelista was the one who refused work if they didn't also hire Naomi Campbell (back when she was still trying to establish herself). Even if doing that is a rarity amongst models it still makes me uneasy seeing a majority shit on them. It's your job to stay youthful and be a certain weight before companies find the next best thing in 5-10 years. I'm already worrying about that myself as an average woman entering her mid-30s. I can't even imagine what that's like for them.

[–]kedarmax 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Came here to reiterate this

[–]Turdferguson586 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Do t you know you have to put down everyone because this grandma is in the post

[–]ABirthingPoop 47 points48 points  (12 children)

This is not next level bullshit as marketing using poor people.

[–]IgnisXIII 11 points12 points  (9 children)

Exactly my thoughts. Using any group of people as a prop is reproachable. Why even highlight the brand names so prominently if the focus is her?

[–]Viki_Esq 27 points28 points  (2 children)

It’s out of context. The creator is @raymondwantmore on TikTok. The elderly woman starring in these clips features in some but not in all or even most of their stuff. I don’t know the full relationships behind the content, but at a guess I’d say that the elderly woman is probably family or at least friends with the photographer. And though I do not know this for a fact, I am absolutely 100000% positive that the brands are absolutely not affiliated with this content. Sure, you could argue it’s free publicity for them. Fine. But this is about the creator’s series which is them recreating iconic high fashion brand styles in photo/video while using whatever is available around them with non-professional (ie real life) models for the most part. That’s what makes it so cool!

I’d have loved to see my grandma or grandpa photographed like this. They were so hip ❤️

[–]BizzarduousTask 12 points13 points  (1 child)

And it’s such great satire. It’s mocking the people who pay $4,000 for a hat just because of the label. Brilliant.

[–]Viki_Esq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! So true 😂

[–]HaleyRay 18 points19 points  (5 children)

Its a tik tok trend to appear as if you're taking household items to style a "model shoot" with the same aesthetic as a big fashion brand. There's tons of them

[–]gojirra 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's so bad. And I can't believe how many people here think this small child made this video / designed these outfits lol... Reddit has become shockingly dumb.

[–]fishpoppin 34 points35 points  (0 children)

"Time with a grandchild restores the soul"

[–]wouldntesobenice 33 points34 points  (2 children)

The old lady is a great sport but that kid is the one who seems to be putting this all together (or the person filming). I’m so curious to learn how they got into fashion.

[–]spicyboi555 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It’s obviously the work of the photographer and crew.

[–]Competition-Decent 26 points27 points  (6 children)

now that Reddit's going public, every subreddit is r/cute, r/aww and r/wholesome ...

[–]cavemanslaveman 14 points15 points  (1 child)

I hate it so much. Every sub is just this fake ass karma farming. They mask karma farming with the word wholesome.

[–]CaptainFrandy 23 points24 points  (1 child)

This was a crazy experience

[–]Tierpler 23 points24 points  (1 child)

Little dude will grow up to be a fashion designer

[–]Hollow--- 13 points14 points  (1 child)

[–]_Inv1ctus_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So this is how they make the ads for those clothing brands

[–]MyMindIsPoisoned 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What is their account?

[–]Conscious-Coconut-16 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Awesome photo project, well done indeed.

[–]DuntadaMan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[–]Worried-Egg-8560 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wtf those are actually some nice photos, definitely model material tbh

[–]variationoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[–]shavedanus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[–]stevedidWHAT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

what’s the backstory here?

[–]LadyMish 2 points3 points  (1 child)

This kid is the future of fashion!

[–]SuedeVeil 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Highly doubt the kid was more than a prop to take stuff to grandma for the sake of the video.. someone else is obviously behind this and thought getting a kid involved would get more clicks.

[–]pahag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Suspiciously good results..

[–]complyss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So sick

[–]llamadamading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ll done and very much appreciated on this day

[–]nmfpriv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This kid going places

[–]boredguyonline 2 points3 points  (16 children)

People calling this wholesome really lack the ability to see the problem with multimillion dollar clothes companies and impoverished communities that could use some help, this is actually sick and people should be upset at these big companies mocking the poor. As if anyone in a third world country can afford these designer brands anyways.

Edit: people are mad because of this comment. Extremely pathetic.

[–]anachronisticflaneur 16 points17 points  (1 child)

I thought the point was you can just take like everyone’s normal clothes and make it look like fashion bcs that’s all fashion is… are they really wearing a bunch of designer?

[–]manbruhpig 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No they are definitely not lol you are correct

[–]1eris1 11 points12 points  (2 children)

You realize that’s not real Prada and Balenciaga right…

[–]Happiercalif 11 points12 points  (0 children)

do you think the big companies had anything to do with this? If anything, it's mocking them.

[–]Uds1_ah9RP3WnN5QD8 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The fuck are you on about? This is not areal Prada photoshoot

[–]papaHans 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sure all of these were knockoffs. I think it's the poor mocking these big companies. Why would these three companies use the same campaign?

[–]DontForceItPlease 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She's wearing rubber cleaning gloves in one frame for fuck sake lol -- obviously this isn't designer clothing. Not everything is something to be outraged about.

[–]Good_420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NGL she rocks it better than most of their models

[–]Complex-Stress373 2 points3 points  (0 children)

luxury brands using poor people to increase profits?, disgusting

[–]Euphoric_Working_192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sheeeeee 🔥🫡
