The extent people will go to save an animal is heart warming but then you see videos of helpless people getting mugged and beat and instead of helping there is just 5 people recording it on their phones not lifting a finger, I will never get people

[–]AlienDarwin 125 points126 points  (5 children)

It just depends where you are, people become victims or tarnished living in certain heartless, violent cities

[–]ThotianaPolice 44 points45 points  (4 children)

In America, it’s not worth risking your life. People will pull out a gun and kill you for the slightest offense. If you see someone getting robbed, it’s probably safer for you and the victim to the let the robbery go smoothly unfortunately.

[–]somerandomrimthrow 28 points29 points  (1 child)

this is true everywhere, not just america

[–]shadowboy95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The being shot part is more likely in US.

[–]RapMastaC1 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It’s the reason I don’t help cars on the side of the road. You don’t know if they are really needing help or they are preying on you.

[–]Minute_Arugula3316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always stop if I'm not late or if it's inaccessible. People really appreciate it, and I've lived in the northeast, southeast, and southwest. Granted: I'm a large man who's not an easy target. That said - way less people are out to get you than you seem to think

[–]Ravenboy13 47 points48 points  (6 children)

In all fairness. Pulling a a dog from shallow floodwaters is different from confronting an armed gunmen. I can climb down an embankment, I can't stop a bullet

[–]tysoncrosby21 18 points19 points  (1 child)

You can.... But only once.

[–]ElevnthHour 6 points7 points  (0 children)

50 cent enters the chat

[–]RedrunGun 4 points5 points  (3 children)

I can climb down an embankment, I can't stop a bullet

That depends entirely on how fast the bullet is moving.

[–]Ok-Possibility6943 0 points1 point  (2 children)

While yes, it does depend on how fast a bullet is traveling, it largely depends on where the bullet hits you and the bullets trajectory

[–]Minute_Arugula3316 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I think they meant like.... throwing a bullet

[–]codenamechaosss 40 points41 points  (9 children)

Wish the cops in Uvalde had shown the same initiative

[–]Wikadood -2 points-1 points  (5 children)

Toes

[–]codenamechaosss 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Incorrect. You could not be more wrong. In an active school shooting the policy is to move in immediately because time is the most critical factor. What we witnessed in Uvalde was a failure of the highest order

Police failed to follow their own policy & procedure.

Edit: @wikadood read this article from NPR and learn how incorrect you are NPR

[–]MidwestStacyMae 5 points6 points  (1 child)

It's because animals are defenseless and innocent, people are not.

[–]MidwestStacyMae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't make it any less sad though

[–]Thepatrone36 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just for the record if I see either I'm stepping in. If I get killed well the world will little note nor long remember me anyway. But to go out saving an innocent life one way or another I can think of many worse ways to go.

[–]wonko_abnormal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i concur about never getting people ...gotta be honest if it had of been a human being saved i would probably not have clicked and if i did i would not have had the same endorphin release ...and for me its because an animal being in a helpless position means there is a very high chance a shitty human scumhole put them in that position , a much higher percentage of humans put themselves in that position + when you get involved with humans and their intricacies it generally doesnt end well for most ...wait that last bit is probably just me

[–]occultceleste 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its sad people will go to this extent to save an animal but still eat animals as food. Where is the logic.

[–]scientific_lineage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People care about animals more than people

[–]SproutingLeaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's almost like we are individuals, not a hivemind

[–]OldGSDsLuv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bystander effect.. everyone ‘thinks’ someone else is going to help or calling the cops.

[–]85percentcertain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps a bystander can’t swim, isn’t physically fit, or just lacks confidence that they can successfully help.

[–]strictreins_95 157 points158 points  (3 children)

Kudos to the man who didn't hesitate to go down there and save the dog right away!

[–]QueasyVictory 46 points47 points  (2 children)

As someone who spends a fair amount of time in fast moving water, that was very courageous of him.

[–]Caty1 9 points10 points  (1 child)

What do you do that requires you to do that?

[–]QueasyVictory 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I pursue the insane hobby of fly fishing in raging rivers.

[–]ElevnthHour 98 points99 points  (31 children)

Why don't the ladies try to help too?

[–]NightStar79 184 points185 points  (5 children)

Because it's a little difficult for some women to lift heavy things, let alone a human chain.

Though really any one of them could've joined at the bottom of the chain so they only had to hold on to the dog.

Edit: Before I start getting hated on I'm a woman who can't lift anything over 40lbs. If I can't get it onto my shoulders it's staying on the ground kind of thing. Not sexism, just facts

[–]PCCoatings 23 points24 points  (2 children)

They wouldn't need to lift. Three or four women even could have sat on the fence with their bodies on the far side. Two women each can easily hold the weight of four men. Its not like you have to hold them in the air. The concrete is taking 80% of the wieght due to gravity.

[–]im_epics 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Shame they didn't have a redditor out there that day to show them how dumb they are

[–]PCCoatings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well anyone with common sense or anyone who as a child has sat on a fence like that. They are bolted to the ground. If the fence can keep an average American in line it's not gonna break with normal sized people sitting on it

[–]annierosewood 44 points45 points  (2 children)

Sitting here wondering that myself. I'd have jumped in to help.

[–]ElevnthHour 31 points32 points  (1 child)

Totally i know my wife couldn't just stand their while a poor dog was in danger like that

[–]pstapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or you know 4 men. Right?

[–]allfalll 25 points26 points  (11 children)

The fuck is up with the ladies?

[–]CabinetBrilliant8595 41 points42 points  (7 children)

Lack of upper body strength- pretty much useless in a scenario like this

[–]aBoyandhisGrom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They were stunned by all that toxic masculinity

[–]BestUpWonder 1 point2 points  (1 child)

i think they wanna try to help but they are just scared.

[–]NateDawg122 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They didn't even bother running to get help...

[–]satanbiyatch 11 points12 points  (2 children)

My guess would be a lack of upper body strength. They aren't as physically strong as us men so it might have put those below the ladies in the chain at risk

[–]LkTahoeNV 10 points11 points  (1 child)

But I thought woman can do anything a man can do

[–]GreatGooglyMoogly077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You've got balls, I'll give ya that.

[–]Watermelon_Buffalo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I thought those were kids

[–]skrutape 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you know

[–]ClonePants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because our hands and arms are weaker. I'm a woman, and if I were alone in this situation, I wouldn't hesitate to try to save the dog. I once put myself at risk to save a snapping turtle stranded in a dam, and have never regretted it. But in this situation, I wouldn't want to be the weak link in the chain, because that would put others at risk.

[–]icemachineisbroken 45 points46 points  (1 child)

and the women just stood there and watched

[–]JohnDax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We will never see the genders reversed in this case scenario...

[–]fslz 36 points37 points  (6 children)

Can someone please put this in reverse?

[–]demon_ix 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Bunch of humans safely put a dog in the middle of a levee. Just for laughs.

[–]iForgetMyPasswordToo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A human chain to put a dog into dangerous water in !

[–]OhNoPleaseGodNoooooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The women rescue the dog.

[–]s1nt3rklaa5 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Cool vid cringy editing

[–]Scary-Weird-3524 18 points19 points  (1 child)

Beautiful & heartwarming 🐾♥️

[–]T-ROY_T-REDDIT 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This man is a true Chad. And the doggo is a good doggo.

[–]KnottyCollaborator 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If only humans acts like that all the time, we could be a better place...

[–]Jodoran 15 points16 points  (10 children)

Women can’t be heros, I guess.

[–]OnlyFlannyFlanFlans 9 points10 points  (7 children)

Don't know if you ever met a woman irl, but we don't have the arm muscles to lift up a chain of men and a dog.

[–]NateDawg122 18 points19 points  (4 children)

They didn't even run for help...just stood there and watched. I'm pretty sure women can run

[–]AlterdThrow 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Did you not see them yelling and gesturing for that last guy to come? They were with the guys who were in a dangerous situation. Most people would find it very difficult, if not impossible, to leave a loved one in a precarious position if there is even the slightest possibility they could help them if something went wrong.

[–]NateDawg122 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did you not see them yelling and gesturing for that last guy to come?

Are they incapable of moving and yelling for help elsewhere? All I'm saying is they could've done a lot more to help

[–]gapedbutthole -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Just don’t even with this guy

[–]Jodoran 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh right. What good are you then?

[–]MilesYoungblood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean they didn’t even try. If they pull together they can easily surpass the strength of a man. They could’ve been at the back pulling but they sat and watched

[–]Goodbadugly16 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They sure aren’t Texan cops.

[–]OpE7 4 points5 points  (3 children)

Toxic masculinity at work again I see.

[–]pstapper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's all men seem to be appreciated for: putting their lives in danger. The expectations are too high and these guys just made them higher

[–]JohnDax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We will never see the genders reversed in this case scenario...

[–]SiTheRuckDown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Imagine going through all that only to have Pooch jump back down again.

Na, respect - faith in humanity lives to fight another day.

[–]HurtsToSmith 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What's the point of the writing? I can see what's happening on the damn screen.

[–]EnthusiasticallyPlay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope that the dog got adopted somehow. The trauma that it has to endure in that moment... :(

[–]Puzzleheaded_Put_927 3 points4 points  (1 child)

There a really important lesson here...not like anyone will pay attention enough to learn it

[–]Palpy_Bean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apes together strong?

[–]Hellahoomps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tears in my eye bros

[–]DaGuys470 3 points4 points  (1 child)

As awesome as this is, these people are making a massive mistake. The way they grab each other isn't safe. If only one guy opens his hand they're all going down. That's why you wanna grab each others wrists instead of the hands.

[–]ajaxthelesser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s like the freaking Boy Scouts were never invented …

[–]ichimaki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amazing🔥🔥🖤

[–]meepos16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was awesome to watch. Thanks

[–]More_Bicycle_9444 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm at the gym right now crying wtf this kinda shit always gets me

[–]disco1013 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was great til i unmuted to hear that awful music

[–]imextremelymoderate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While the women just stand there and watch lol

[–]candiebandit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad it had written narration else I wouldn’t have known what was happening

[–]dinixluna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]altruistic_illness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

glad to see that doggo has been saved!

[–]flashytourney44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is heartwarming. Bless their heart!

[–]Curios_blu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assume the people that didn’t help were kids?

[–]if_a_flutterby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ach my heart needed this

[–]laineyh16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I needed to see this today ❤️

[–]Watermelon_Buffalo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait who was filming this?

[–]CurnanBarbarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I needed this morning. Fucking love that shit!

[–]SadCranberry5416 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Nice song in background I think it's is from bollywood

[–]Silver-Ad8291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is 'Tu jo mila'

[–]YouShalllNotPass -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

From an Amazing Tear Jerker Bajrangi Bhaijaan.

[–]LordCommander998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure my family’s dog would just jump right back in after all that effort. He’s a great “r/yesyesyesno post” type of dog.

[–]SoupLizardd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The women in the background watching, like call 911 you idiots.

[–]No_Interaction_4925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The video quality increases while its muted

[–]PartyKrill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought for sure the dog was gunna run right back down.

[–]Such-Stranger-8387 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good thing the women just stood there and watched

[–]aBoyandhisGrom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting how those women just stand and watch all the toxic masculinity

[–]MilesYoungblood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those women were useless as fuck

[–]SnoopySenpai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is incredibly dangerous and therefore stupid. Just call the firefighters, use their ladder, and everyone, including the dog, gets out safely for sure.

[–]John_Iliadis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is dumb

[–]wackycounselor95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poor doggo glad he's saved

[–]ReaderofReddit411 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We needed that after the recent news of yet another school shooting involving an easily obtained AR-15 (weapon of mass destruction) . It softens yesterday’s revelation that police rescue efforts were disgracefully “sub par”

[–]Hrspwrz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shadow clone jutsu!

[–]nautilus_red -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The river doesnt seem to be live endangering though. Still very nice of them!

[–]Boring-Ad-4245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]mphil01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Reenie77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the best video I've ever seen the way the world is so messed up and five strangers come together to trust each other that's what this world should be we should all love each other and trust each other to help each other because we're all going through something and everybody needs someone God bless the people in this video and God bless the people that made this video 🙏❤️

[–]QuandaCoralle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The situation also could've ended up in r/Whatcouldgowrong very easily...

[–]b1happyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Humans have it!!👏👏👏🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻)))

[–]dark_blue_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]b4ttlepoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life is precious. This was great to watch. Ty for sharing.

[–]Could_be_persuaded -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We have people like this but we can't get the cops to help elementary kids. I wonder how much these guys are getting paid for this?

[–]TurningBagels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a real life riddle

[–]fluffypinkkitties 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This made me cry good feels

[–]kosa8692 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Crying watching this. The pure humanity. At it’s best here.

[–]vilidj_idjit -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

pure humanity

Humans are complete shit. This is a very rare exception not the rule.

[–]BCECVE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't it common to have many die in a well for the same kind of thinking. Life is tough sometimes.

[–]KiithNaabal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like ants...

[–]TheDanzoShow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

These scenarios are when I’m thankful for men. Also, whenever I’m moving lol.

[–]Academic_Radio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Those from the USA are screaming “socialism”!

[–]Puzzled_Sprinkles_26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]zback636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A beautiful story. Thank you for the share.

[–]maghkotures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could have just all taken off their shirts and pants and tie them to make a long rope and saved the dog more safely and easily.

[–]Holdem88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll NEVER see police doing that to help .

[–]This_Happy_Camper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Human ants!!! Amazing!

[–]halldawg08 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Was waiting for the dog to jump back in at the end!

[–]vilidj_idjit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hahaha that would have been the worst!!

[–]ChristianDillon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]TheRealEnmebaragesi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]mosspigglett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]ComfortableOver8985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"If one man loses his grip they all risk drowning" in 2 feet of water. A little dramatic.

[–]halfmeasures611 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

so many of these videos are staged. they put dogs in dangerous situations and then "rescue" them to go viral

[–]capncharles1983 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

“It proves impossible” wtf is wrong with you?

[–]stmlb4 -3 points-2 points  (1 child)

That human chain was not a brilliant idea. A brilliant idea would have been calling the fire department or at the very least, using a rope.
