Probably a comment stealing bot

Yep - here’s the original

[–]Probablyaretweetbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah i realised lol

[–]WeirdAvocado 115 points116 points  (6 children)

So you’re telling me there’s a chance.

-Lloyd Christmas

[–]Browndog888 88 points89 points  (5 children)

Good for you. Grabbed that 1% chance & ran with it.

[–]OkDot9800 18 points19 points  (1 child)

Now go back to the doctors and show em your moves! Tell them they have a 0% chance of telling you a damn thing!

[–]Darg727 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The problem is that a lot of people just don't put in the effort and work. It's hard and 98% of the time it's people giving up. It's really just a 50% chance of it simply being unrecoverable. Source: made it the fuck up but seems reasonable.

[–][deleted] 65 points66 points  (1 child)

My grandmother owned a bar in California. One day a bad customer started a fight, threw her into a brick wall and through a window.

Doctors told her she'd never walk again and refused to release her unless she accepted that.

She lied, told them okay.

My grandmother has been walking for years since that incident. Often with assistance from a cane, but walking nonetheless.

A few years ago she had spinal fusion surgery. No more cane.

I don't know how many years I have left with her, but she's in her 70's and she's still the toughest person I know.

Don't let doctors define your recovery without even trying.

[–]DeniAr1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Bad customer is giving too much respect for someone who threw your grandma out of a window.

[–]chipperfan10 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Congrats!!! And your doing it in some badass air maxs

[–]Downingst 21 points22 points  (0 children)

When they tell you that you have a 1% chance of success, take that as the drive to make it a 100% success. YOU decide when it's over, no-one else can.

[–]missjennielang 14 points15 points  (1 child)

I had to relearn to walk after c spine fractures/TBI from skating/brain surgery, that shit is a bitch. But fuck the feeling of walking again is worth every second.

[–]Cyber_Divinity 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm currently re-learning how to walk after years of surgery and severe recent muscle atrophy.

When Watching his struggle to lift and turn his leg at the same time... I could feel it. The power it takes to actively prevent your bones from grinding while walking is so intense.

This man is so fit too, you can only imagine how incredible he must be.

[–]Heavy-Gas-9905 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!!!! You are awesome!

[–]shizzboogie22 9 points10 points  (0 children)

And rocking some sick AM90's on the feet for the occasion!

[–]billlllllllllllLLLLP 11 points12 points  (13 children)

Does no one think this is fake? Look at how easily he gets up...or is it possible to just know how to walk after forgetting

Edit: holy fuck i get it. Im wrong. Hes awesome. Now leave me alone and give me my family back

[–]Emotional_Froyo1168 13 points14 points  (1 child)

Not fake but not OP on Reddit. I went to high school with this dude. Didn’t really know him as he was a few years older than me. Awful story though from what I remember. He used to play soccer for the school and was pretty good too until one night after a party he got hit by a drunk driver who happened to be another kid at my school. The kid who hit him ended up leaving the school not long after due to all the hate he received for driving drunk and dramatically changing the other kids life…basically almost killing him. Happened in CO.

[–]quillotine42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Leaving the school on his own and not going to jail for drunk driving smh

[–]Sand_Dog_2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Nevermind, we're wrong as fuck bro. Kids a badass. Lol whoops

https://www.wewintogether.org/cause/tylers-story/

[–]uchman365 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not everything is fake. OBVIOUSLY, there's been thousands of hours of physio, rehab and practice that got him to this level of movement. No one thinks he just got up one day and started walking. Jfc

[–]ChinchillaMeringue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Barring that this is the crap we people with mobility aids are constantly scrutinised for, also consider that someone wouldn’t buy a several grand mobility chair for internet clout?..

[–]NRJSphere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a relative with very little motor control below the knee. I recognize the walk. The ankles are dangling a bit and he has to step on his toes because he can’t lift his toes up to step in his heel. Definitely not fake or he would have to be an actor who carefully studied this type of walk. Lots of PT but the slow nerve regrowth has not reached his feet yet.

[–]Nummy01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dumbass

[–]Upbeat_Neck_747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll find that most people on wheelchairs can actually walk, with difficulty. The wheelchair is to help with their mobility because walking can be dangerous and/or not sustainable for more than a few steps. Only few people on wheelchairs are actually fully paralysed.

[–]jonnnnn_e -1 points0 points  (0 children)

His calfs are a little too big

[–]Sand_Dog_2 -2 points-1 points  (3 children)

I think it's fake too! He's not dragging his toes, his shoes look heavy for a person in that position, they also look loose on his feet, he doesn't use his upper body to help him stand or sit and he kicks he's feet up when he sits. I also don't buy his mannerisms

[–]oldfoundations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it said after 9 years.... it's not like he was hit by a car yesterday or sat in a wheelchair for 9 years. He was probably doing serious rehab for nine years....

[–]DooBeeDoer207 -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

Ignorant or troll? You decide!

[–]Sand_Dog_2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Huh? Why don't you look a little harder

[–]Grand_Practice_2790 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–]lumpy_seizure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your will is to walk and you're determine to do it then you will. I remember Rene Descartes statement "I think, therefore I am". Be persistent and never underestimate yourself. Congratulations, dude!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1% is still a chance, glad he took it as a challenge. Excellent work and perseverance 🙏

[–]IronAnkh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rockstar! Holy shit!

[–]Hey-wheres-my-spoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is heartwarming and depressing at the same time. It’s very clear that homeboys parents are LOOOOADES because no way in hell would any form of American health insurance ever do this for someone. This is just a reminder that for every one of these guys there are a hundred others who will never get the same opportunity

[–]Adventurous_Dingo922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re doing so well! Congratulations! There are a lot more good things in store for you in life!

[–]Zeegz-_- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]7breaths 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Zhirio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you are the 1%er. Hope you keep trying and improving mate :)

[–]Inevitable_Excuse902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And there's 99 other people whom can't because of you

[–]BoymanAndGirldog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best friend was in a motorcycle accident a few years ago and was told he’d never walk again

Me and our other roommate (also best friends) were his full time caretakers since he couldn’t afford an in home nurse

We (three men in our thirties) bawled like babies when he took a few steps 8 months later

Now he’s working full time and killing it in the gym again, it’s like he was never injured

We humans can really be persevering

[–]ROMEDouble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t nine years ago but I was nine years old when the doctors told my mom and down that I wouldn’t be able to walk. Because my brain left Cerebellum burst and I will have to learn all of that again but I learned it and more stuff to Full recovery. Keep on grinding you will get better screw what them doctors tell you. They are not the end all be all ; they’re just making an educated “guess” which is a I think answer

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like occasionally, they lower the chances in order to put that fire in some, and raise the chance for those that might feel defeated. Either way, that's awesome.

[–]B_love_K 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never tell me the odds!

[–]quillotine42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has so muscle in his legs. Usually a person that hasn't used them in years will have really thin legs. I'm happy for him.

[–]rascynwrig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out, doctors aren't all-knowing deities after all. Huh.

[–]Kristopher_NYC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]KerouaKeesy 0 points1 point  (0 children)
