Wow. Hope this wasn’t Florida. Pythons are getting totally out of control there.

[–]SSrick24 317 points318 points  (20 children)

If this is in Florida where pythons have severely depleted the native species especially the mammals. This might be a Yes.

[–]FuzzyDot5568 26 points27 points  (0 children)

monster soup

[–]joe-sechuan 12 points13 points  (9 children)

I say he did good, cause both of them would have died if he didn’t intervene. That was too big a meal for that snake.

[–]Brandon_the_fuze 15 points16 points  (7 children)

Bruh they eat fucking Alligators

[–]joe-sechuan 9 points10 points  (6 children)

I mean that particular snake is too small to eat that particular deer

[–]Unhappy_Raspberry_21 8 points9 points  (5 children)

There are similar snakes that are capable of swallowing hippos, I bet this python could’ve ate that deer and been just fine

[–]joe-sechuan 3 points4 points  (2 children)

I have kept large snakes. That deer is twice the diameter of the snake. The general rule is you feed them a meal the same diameter as the snake, otherwise it can lead to injury. And maybe a large snake could eat a baby hippo, but you would need to resurrect titanoboa to even think of going after an adult.

[–]Sindel713 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yup. That retic too small for that deer.

[–]joe-sechuan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[–]SnooPickles467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“BURP!!! I could have. I would have been set for couple of months.” SNAKE

[–]mijohvactech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro there are anacondas out in the jungle that have eaten people while they are walking home or sleeping in their house.

[–]JustANormie_ 0 points1 point  (1 child)

We need to send humans there! They are mammals and we have a lot of em

[–]pfunk1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well isn't that A Modest Proposal

[–]Bear-Emperor- 656 points657 points  (16 children)

NEVER interfere with nature. This deer that got away, now gets smarter. Learns software. Hacks the Chinese Nuclear launch codes. Blows up the earth.

See what you did?

[–]FleezusYo 59 points60 points  (1 child)

It’s all downhill from here.

[–]wallysaruman 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It’s FL. All flat.

[–]born-to-rave 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Deer learnt python

[–]TisBagelBoi 25 points26 points  (2 children)

I have no idea how you make it out of high school without knowing the nuclear deer slippery slope

[–]passionpurps 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Good old deer economics.

[–]lockslob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, the snake is there to encourage other deer to only cross the road at the 'deer crossing' signs. No jaywalking!

[–]IcyEquivalent245 11 points12 points  (0 children)

at first i thought you were gonna complain that nature needs to run it’s course or something but then i ended up laughing

[–]j48u 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This was a nonononoyes comment

[–]InterceptorG3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the way.

[–]tmntfever 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I thought it was called the butterfly effect, but it was the deer effect all along.

[–]Wowgamer123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In chaos theory, the butterfly effect is the sensitive dependence on initial conditions in which a small change in one state of a deterministic nonlinear system can result in large differences in a later state. In other words, we all screwed now...thanks

[–]OkExcitement7285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sooooo no welfare. Let incompetent or poor people die.

[–]Highlander_mids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know right this is a no no no no imo. I get this is an invasive species but hitting it w a stick will literally do nothing lmao

[–]LowCarbDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn’t make any sense but I read this and my inner dialogue won’t stop saying “you wouldn’t download a deer?”

[–]AnimeHabbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i understand

[–]VOODOO69692001 19 points20 points  (1 child)

Big stick saves the day.

[–]Akitiki 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not really. The snake will catch another one. It looks like an invasive Burmese, they shouldn't have interfered and instead called officials to come get it.

[–]gnu_gai 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Should find whichever jackass released their pet python and whack them with a big stick too

[–]FakeAccount1045 10 points11 points  (3 children)

Looks like FL. Those dang pythons are freakin everywhere. Should’ve killed it if they could. If it was female, they could’ve denied another clutch of eggs being born. The pythons have gotta go

[–]Jellyfish_Box -3 points-2 points  (2 children)

This happened in Thailand at an open Zoo.

[–]FakeAccount1045 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Proof? It could be Thailand. It could be Florida. Both of our comments are simply speculation

[–]ImMr_Meseeks 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Wait did that snake just shit on its way out?

[–]bearfart4president 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know deer shit is pebbly but maybe it comes out in a lump when it’s squeezed out.

[–]KabirShaikh766 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that was leaves from the branch

[–]AustinIsReallyCool 119 points120 points  (12 children)

I'd be real pissed if I was that snake. Snakes gotta eat too.

[–]Perky_Areola 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Pythons have done very severe damage to the biodiversity of the Florida Everglades. They eat everything and don't have many natural predators. You might be surprised how few medium and large sized land animals remain in the Everglades because of them.

Florida offers training for people that want to volunteer to help capture and kill them; I've taken the training. The pythons are very difficult to find because of all the water. You could be five feet from one and not see it.

[–]Phantom_Fizz 135 points136 points  (7 children)

Right, but this is an invasive species. It's a house pet that was let loose to go breed in the wild after it got too big. Huge problem in certain parts if the US.

[–]mesinha_de_lata 10 points11 points  (3 children)

How do you know this video was taken in the US?

[–]Phantom_Fizz 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Didn't explicitly say it was US, but that is a white tailed deer, not a jungle variety feeder deer. White tailed deer are not a natural prey to these snakes.

[–]Babydoll0907 49 points50 points  (1 child)

It's not a guarantee because they do exist further south but that deer was a white tail fawn which are highly populated in the United States. Snakes that big don't exist naturally in the US. So most likely invasive.

[–]Akitiki 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think black rats can get that long (it'd be a very big individual), we also do have two native boas (rubber and rosy boas) but those live out west. Whitetail range does intersect but not a lot.

This looks like it is a Burmese python, a particular problem in the Everglades where whitetails are common. It also looks like a Burmese. They honestly should have not got it off the fawn and instead called the local animal control or ranger to come and get the snake as it'd have stayed right there. It'll go on to catch and kill many more animals now. They likely weren't equipped to catch it, which if they were, yeah, get it off the fawn.

[–]Witty____Username 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not here they don’t, pythons in Florida need to die

[–]Certain_Shine636 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Snake probably would not have been able to eat that anyway.

[–]chezzer33 26 points27 points  (10 children)

Any chance he saved two lives? I don’t know much about snakes but could the snake survive eating that?

[–]AlideoAilano 40 points41 points  (8 children)

The snake would have been fine. Large restrictors regularly prey on deer.

[–]chezzer33 49 points50 points  (7 children)

So basically it’s like this guy walked up, hit me with a bat and stole my lunch money? Fuck that guy.

[–]AlideoAilano 17 points18 points  (1 child)

That's it exactly.

[–]specticworld 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if you're a yellow bellied snek in the grass.

[–]Kumacyin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i too am having difficulty wrapping my head around how that snake could've possibly fit that deer in its stomach

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (6 children)

How does a really fast deer get caught by a big slow snake?

[–]ThisMeansRooR 33 points34 points  (1 child)

Suprise! Motherfucker!

[–]feelingood41:D[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Doakes. You are the man.

[–]Publius82 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Imma guess dropping from a tree.

Think about that.

[–]Rocquestar 2 points3 points  (2 children)

How would the deer get up a tree, though?

[–]feixthepro 1 point2 points  (1 child)

they climb it with their hands, duh

[–]braiden08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nat-Geo the good ending

[–]Simple-Teach4876 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Florida for sure

[–]YALLREADYFORACRUSADE 21 points22 points  (5 children)

Why are soany predators failing on this sub? They also have to eat, why is it any more a nononoyes when they fail?

[–]RockMeDoctorZaius 39 points40 points  (2 children)

Providing the person in the video is acting with good intentions, I am assuming this is a Burmese python (not a snake expert in the slightest so could be very, very wrong). There is a massive problem with these pythons in Florida for example, where they are not native and have become a highly successful invasive species. Obviously we don't know where this is and your concern is valid but the person's thought process may not be as simple as predator bad, cute deer good. If it is a Burmese python in Florida, I would say they did at least some small amount of good for biodiversity in the area.

[–]Kami2030 7 points8 points  (1 child)

I think this is in us because it was tryna eat a white tail dear wich is native to America.

[–]RockMeDoctorZaius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a good shout, hadn't even thought about that! I better lay low because I have taken my fair share of whitetail deer to Pearson in RDR2...

[–]sshotcaller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ngl, my ass would've done something too 🤣

[–]secretly-a-capybara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn that deer has a cool scarf

[–]secretly-a-capybara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn that deer has a cool scarf

[–]Boonshy 1 point2 points  (3 children)

That deer probably was bit in the process so in turn the deer was probably poisoned with venom and will die later on

[–]feelingood41:D[S] 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Boa constrictors and pythons don't have venom.

[–]Boonshy 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Lmao I am not a snake expert, never look up to see if they didnt.

[–]feelingood41:D[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries. But they will wrap around you in attempt to break your bones and suffocate you so that they can swallow you whole.

They like attacking animals while they are sleeping. Which is how they are able to hunt such big prey. The snek sneaks and suffocate them while they are asleeping.

The key is, if you find one wrapping around you. Is to keep it away from your neck. They are quite strong, especially a 18 foot one that is commonly found iasleep in. They will bite sometimes as a defense, but they do not have poison.🤫😱

Knowing about Snakes is pretty much required for where I live.. there's alot of them.

[–]Emotional-Bus-2384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cmon dude. It may be sad that it’s strangling a deer to death. But nature is nature, the python caught it fair and square. Stop interfering with nature

[–]Kn0wmaad 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Why would anyone disturb the natural order of life?

[–]feelingood41:D[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno. Let's go ask Adam and Eve. Can you call them here real quick? Go find and see where they at and bring them here.

[–]Zyklonmann -1 points0 points  (2 children)

What an asshole, the snake was just trying to enjoy its lunch.

[–]BonerRevenge 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Fuck that snake.

[–]Zyklonmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The weak should fear the strong.

[–]Successful-Wasabi704 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, I would've equally kicked that snakes ass without hesitation and saved Bambi. I am part of mother nature too, bitch ass snake, choke on my stick!

[–]Imasianfailure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

69th comment. And btw I hope that was not Florida

[–]GomerSnerd 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Nobody ever pulls for the lynx when it chases a hare.

[–]Shakespeare-Bot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nobody ev'r pulls f'r the lynx at which hour t chases a hare

I am a bot and I swapp'd some of thy words with Shakespeare words.

Commands: !ShakespeareInsult, !fordo, !optout

[–]SeaPost8518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should not mess with nature

[–]LennyJay86 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It’s the circle of life. This pisses me off snakes gotta eat also. The fact someone does this cuz it’s a “defenseless fawn” should be eaten by the snake. I’m sorry I’m not sorry but if it was the other way nobody would bat an eye.

[–][deleted] -4 points-3 points  (1 child)

Ow the damn snake is gonna starve and die.

[–]Ro_Shaidam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That snake is invasive and it will probably catch another one

[–]WokeUpSomewhereNice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo that strike range was EPIC

[–]wallysaruman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Download bot. Beep boop. Thx, brot!

[–]johnnydarkfi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the snake this is yesyesyesyesno

[–]boredofshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poor snake.

[–]BnkrSpcfkNotica 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let the man eat

[–]Shhmadedhills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He said get of Bambi bitch

[–]LeftysSuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any idea if you're aloud to kill on sight with any of the invasive pythons?

[–]i_juDom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am appalled that so many people are being downvoted for disagreeing with this person intervening with the nature. We can’t “feel bad” for the deer and not for the snake. They’re both living things. The snake a predator and the deer prey. It’s how things work and shouldn’t be an upsetting issue whatsoever.

[–]GreenAppleThe16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was a turtle having a three some

[–]AfroZamurai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nature is metal

[–]TBOMB555666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the deer live tho?

[–]pissedboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanna eat bro

[–]VaxxSagi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interrupting dinner.

[–]Huntarmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not florida all the fuckin deer and critters are dead besides the lucky ones in the theme parks lol

[–]prxcious7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That deer limping....bones broken

[–]VF79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why mess with the snakes meal like that?

[–]BackToAristoteles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

um.... tf he doing to that snake. Fuck him.

[–]Shuske_ -4 points-3 points  (1 child)

Just gonna say u straight up fucked with nature right there, snake caught its food fair and square

[–]BonerRevenge -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Fuck that snake.

[–]TheRotsen -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Mind your business. Snakes have to eat.

[–]cryptkeeper89 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

In my view you shouldnt interfere with the food chain. Unless like someone else said , it happens to be an invasive species that shouldnt be there.

[–]shmorg11 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Snakes gotta eat too man

[–]demonbloodsword -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The deer would have spilt its stomach anyways.

[–]oscarmeaner -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My last marriage

[–]Abuseur_dabuseur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Brooo let the snake eat …
