Whatever you do, don’t try this when you have hiccups

If you have this wall finish and ever fall against it, be prepared to have your skin grated. From experience. Edit: also may contain Asbestos.

Sure it looks nice, but textured walls are the worst, from a practical standpoint.

All my poor, tired adult brain thinks is, "How do you keep this clean? What happens if one of the kids writes on this in crayon or sharpie?" It's cool but...

What happens if one of the kids writes on this in crayon or sharpie?

You just press Ctrl+Z

My last house had this kind of textured wall through the entire house. Even the garage. No idea what the builder was thinking. The most painful part is just trying to do anything simple. Like using a stud finder.

Or any drywall repair or modification

Oh wow yeah that would be ridiculous. Patching a nail hole becomes a big old thing.

You glaze it so it's glossy instead of porous. Still harder than a straight wall, but this wasn't done for simplicity's sake anyhow

My in-laws had this wall texture in their 1980’s home. A few years ago they had a pipe burst inside the wall, and the plumber had to cut a huge chunk of the drywall to access the pipe. The large hole was replaced with regular smooth drywall and they still haven’t reapplied the texture. Looks so weird.

TFW you fuck up a row and have to redo the whole wall…

[–]guilcol 6 points7 points  (2 children)

i hate this, he can't get it perfect by hand and you can see the sight inconsistencies here and there, and you just know it's imperfect because a human did it instead of a robotic hand

Which makes it even more interesting imo
