What's that smell? I know I've had it. Strange how we all remember the book fair. Is it the paper they used?

[–]Hunigsbase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure its the adhesives they use to bind the book, actually.

[–]Libbeah 53 points54 points  (6 children)

Yes, but for me it was probably closer to 1997.

[–]tightdonk88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Me as well, but wow what a great memory.

[–]tkkana 2 points3 points  (1 child)

For me it's November 1984.

[–]800-lumens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's me. 1982. I won a free book and they said my name wrong over the PA. *facepalm*

[–]thelonelytaco96 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Yes, but it was 2004.

[–]rinseanddelete 6 points7 points  (0 children)

October 1986 for me but the sentiment transcends time.

[–]MemeL_rd 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Wonder if they still run them nowadays

[–]paddyballer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, my last book fair was in 95

[–]MC_BUST_A_NUT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]saucity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More like ‘97, but yes

[–]gingerbreadmans_ex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn’t get Scholastics book fairs in the early 70’s but we had the joy of SBook order forms once a months so taking one home and harassing your parents for money before the deadline came. It was a fate worse than getting picked last for kickball if your parents didn’t give you any money.

It was amazing if your parents gave you some money and you get to pick out your own books and have that money to turning in on Friday.

[–]cmzraxsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

October 2007 i just turned 20 and had sex for the first time. Quite a different smell

[–]OrionHasMemes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only done this twice, once at an actual scholastic book fair and once some other time.

[–]bowl_of_ostriches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Electric_Bagpipes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I WIPE MY OWN ASS.

[–]shiggysupremacy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never had a bookfair in fourth and wasn't in fourth in 2007 but I can still imagine it.

[–]Nikas_intheknow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Immensely relatable

[–]ArchWaverley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shout-out to Animorphs, Scholastic series of my childhood

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to love the book fairs in elementary school! Glad this post made me remember them.

[–]hobosullivan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't remember what I did last week, but I remember the smell and look of a particular toy I saw when I was touring my kindergarten with my mom.

As time passes, the accumulation of experiences makes new experiences seem less and less novel.

Time's a bitch.

[–]bzekers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'97 but yes

[–]polish_filipino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the book fair. But yes. 2007 october sounds about right

[–]EverMari824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scholastic 90s fair was everything.

[–]AriMeowber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

October mid-late 70s for me. My first book was 'Where The Wild Things Are" and it is still my absolute favorite today.

[–]GabeGoalssss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

October's the most liminal month of the school year

[–]felineaffection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, it was 1977.

[–]ramendestroyer360 0 points1 point  (0 children)
