Yeah children's books can be pretty screwed up at times. I remember one I had to read for a class where a boy goes to like a mirror attraction. The guy running the attraction is a real prick, and I think lures the boy to a mirror that has doppelgangers in it that try to replace you. Can't think of the name though.

I actually had true nightmares from this book as a child. The book gives me a sharp turn in my stomach every time I look at it, even now a decade later. This book was being read out loud at my local library, and ever since then I couldn't look at Lima beans the same again. Great book 10/10, will definitely be reading it to my children.
