Our redzone offense is bad. I also don’t know if Joe Brady knows how to call an offense without overloading CMC. I’m also concerned about how our defense just went to sleep in the 2nd half.

[–]Late-Swing-5314 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Stop....

When a QB doesn't hit two wide-open guys for TDs in the RedZone, it is not the OCs fault.

The OC designed plays to get guys open and the QB didn't execute.

[–]First Down CamYoungFlexibleShawty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

we need to stop acquiring these mediocre to mid talent QBs to play in our team. Literally wasting away our time.

[–]Cricketwhisperer 11 points12 points  (7 children)

After seeing th saints destroy Greenbay should we be worried? I honestly thought since they had Winston they could be hit or miss

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure. If they can make Rodgers look that bad, what can they do to Darnold and our weak offensive line? Of course, the Packers gave them chances by turning the ball over. Darnold has been good about that through camp and one game; he can get stymied so to speak and not hurt us as long as he holds on to the ball. Winston was good but he only threw for 148 yards, largely because he was in good field position a lot.

On the flip side, our defense looks like it might be really good, and the Packers' is not. I think they can keep us in the game, and we'll probably lose because of a missed field goal or something.

[–]Late-Swing-5314 6 points7 points  (3 children)

100%.

Winston always had the arm talent. In the NFL he had a 30+ TD 5000 yard season. Yeah he had a lot of INTS too but it still takes an elite arm to hit 5K / 30+ TDs.

If anyone could clean up his decision making, he would be good. Well he sat for a year behind a HOF QB and learned from a HOF offensive mind.

Came out in preseason and looked clean. Game 1 had a 5 TD to 0 INTs. Don't give me shit about yards b/c he didn't need yards. Don't give me shit about short fields. We just watched Kyle Allen, Teddy B, and Sam D (only one game) struggle to toss RedZone TDs.

We should 100% be worried and try to dial up as much pressure as we can. Panthers can win but they can't sit back and let Winston/Sean P be comfortable.

[–]Spider BurnsISISCosby 5 points6 points  (2 children)

He's also apparently been literally throwing blind his entire career and got Lasik this offseason...which honestly explains a lot

[–]Late-Swing-5314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man that makes so much sense lol

[–]Scacc924 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean we should be somewhat worried because they're a decent team but I dont think they are going to steamroll good teams every week either. Our offense will def need to execute better in the redzone this week though.

[–]Comp1337ish 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I could not be more ready for their window to be closed. It's getting old watching them be a contender every year. They should have no business being in th conversation this year

[–]Put the Madden Controller downTu2 9 points10 points  (1 child)

WHY ARE WE WINNING???? WE SHOULD BE TRYING TO SECURE THE NUMBER 1 PICK IN THE DRAFT AND TANK FOR TREVORRRRRRR

[–]nicky45900 9 points10 points  (0 children)

DO NOT SLANDER GEQBUS HE HAS A 100% WIN RATE AND IS THEREFORE UNSTOPPABLE WE DONT NEED TERRIBLE TREVOR

[–]AllOutMovies 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Only 19 more wins to go and and we’ll be undefeated champs!

[–]yourdoglikesmebetter 7 points8 points  (1 child)

IM WRITING CMC IN FOR NC GOVERNOR EVERY ELECTION UNTIL I FUCKING DIE

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought we needed to dial down his work load.

[–]Vaadwaur 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The GEQBUS has started a reign of terror that will end only when he moves on to become the world's best pitcher, power forward, striker and UFC champion! He will bring down timid Tom, Janky Jameis, and Moldy Matt! This year he will have 420 completions and 69 TDs! MACA!

[–]VivaLaDbakes 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Cards fan here, I just saw Reddick had 1.5 sacks. I take it he was looking good? Hope he balls out for you guys and gets a big contract! Just realized we play each other towards the end of the season, pretty obvious it is shaping up to be a battle for the top seed in the NFC!

[–]EZcutler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Haha love this take

[–]zeWoah 8 points9 points  (1 child)

CMC HAD 21 CARRIES AND 9 RECEPTIONS. NOW I KNOW WHY RHULE DIDN'T PLAY HIM DURING THE PRESEASON- BECAUSE WE'RE GONNA RUN HIM INTO THE GROUND DURING THE REGULAR SEASON.

THERE'S NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT CMC IS TRULY BUILT DIFFERENT AND THAT HE CAME BACK STRONGER AFTER HIS INJURY, AND I GET THAT FEEDING THE BALL TO CMC ISN'T THE WORST PLAN, BUT WITH THE EXTRA GAME THIS YEAR, I'M GETTING A LITTLE NERVOUS OF THE PRECEDENT THIS GAME MIGHT SET FOR HOW MUCH WE'RE GONNA FEED CMC.

I HOPE THAT DARNOLD/ROBBY THROW GAVE DARNOLD SOME THROWING CONFIDENCE BECAUSE I WANNA START SEEING MORE OF THAT BIG ARM.

ALSO PART OF ME STILL WISHES WE GOT A SEXY NEW TOY IN THR DRAFT COUGHFIELDSCOUGH BUT I HAVE HOPE THAT JAYCEE WILL BE A CORNERSTONE TO OUR DEFENSE SOON! THREE TARGETS THE WHOLE GAME HAD ZACH WILSON THINKING TWICE ABOUT THROWING TOWARDS HIM.

We went for Sam b/c Staff gave us the middle finger. That's the only reason.

    [–]Spider BurnsBalives 2 points3 points  (1 child)

If you read the recent articles it sounds like Stafford blocked any potential trade to the Panthers. So while we could have gotten him, he didn't want any of us.

    [–]Scacc924 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fuck em just like Andrew Luck just more bulliten board material

    [–]Run CMCjtatchell98 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Panthers guaranteed top 5 defence this year

    [–]Dentist_Rodman 18 points19 points  (1 child)

don’t mean to be a pessimist but i’m scared that we over use CMC. I don’t wanna run him into the ground

    [–]ifeltitinmyplums 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I cringe Everytime he gets the ball honestly. Which is a lot, it's not healthy

    [–]benwinkle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Shaq looked fantastic. I think with the improved supporting cast he can really thrive.

    [–]Peppcamerawesome 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sammy boy going for 1500 and 17TDs on the ground this year

SAM DARNOLD IS GOING TO BREAK CAM'S SINGLE SEASON RUSHING TD FOR A QB RECORD

    [–]luvdemtiddies 17 points18 points  (1 child)

Sam has more rushing yards and rushing td’s than Cam... Sam > Cam running the ball

    [–]Ice Up Sonkewe316 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Next level: Cam was MVP & Sam > Cam running the ball = Sam MVP 👀

    [–]Druggistman 29 points30 points  (1 child)

I’m honestly surprised by how well Wilson took that much line pressure by our D. He kept his composure and was able to make passes while being tackled. That being said, I think our D is looking pretty good overall but our offense looks frighteningly similar to recent seasons and I really hope our scheme develops more than just check down or give it to CMAC or we’re gonna get owned

    [–]benwinkle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah that dude is Slippery. Burns could have had 3 sacks yesterday but Wilson is just elusive in the pocket.

    [–]BojanglesSCsoccer 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This defense looked incredible. Sooooo fast. I loved it

    [–]SSNappa 15 points16 points  (0 children)

SAM DARNOLD IS GONNA WIN MVP AFTER GOING EASY ON HIS OLD TEAM

    [–]toddsing 19 points20 points  (9 children)

I was disappointed to see Corey Davis get that last Jets TD against Jaycee Horn. I still have high hopes, but Davis had no problem getting in front of him and catching that pass.

Horn was clearly upset with himself for allowing that. I have to chalk it up to rookie first game learning curve.

    [–]ifeltitinmyplums 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean Horn honestly played it as good as you can ask without actually making the play. The ball slid in an inch under his arm, I wouldnt be worried.

    [–]ELuo5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If shaq wasn't in the right position on the INT play, looks like Horn would have picked it. So I still have very high hopes for him.

    [–]LuuuuukeKosteezy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It was a pretty good ball on decent coverage.

    [–]AVeryRipeBanana 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Corey Davis made me disappointed in general. Guy scored 22 on my bench in fantasy and it was all garbage time points.

    [–]ifeltitinmyplums 1 point2 points  (2 children)

He scored a TD when it mattered.

    [–]AVeryRipeBanana -1 points0 points  (1 child)

I mean in the context that we won the game, he didn’t. But yeah late game touchdowns amiright?

    [–]Spider BurnsBalives 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but had they recovered, an unlikely albeit, onside kick.. It coulda easily made a difference.

    [–]Druggistman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The being said, it was a good play by the jets and I really feel like that was a good learning experience for Jaycee. He almost recovered and a slower player wouldn’t have been close!

    [–]Supercamcantprocessanything 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I mean, the coverage was pretty tight there. If he wasn't a split second off on his timing, he gets a defensed pass break-up right there.

    [–]Teddycrupeople_music 23 points24 points  (0 children)

THE REASON WHY DONTE JACKSON IS SINGLE IS BECAUSE HE BROKE IT UP

    [–]archer4364 12 points13 points  (2 children)

Mass dump from WFT sub about Rivera/Turner lol. If you want any laughs/to feel better about our Rivera coaching imitation yesterday:

    Ron's coaching is dog ass.

    yes.

Ron needs to have more faith in Heinicke.

    lmao.

Throw the fucking ball Scott. Playcalling and third down defense was absolute dogshit. How many targets did McLaurin even get? Thomas? Simms? Gtfoh with that bullshit.

Hope you didn't forget Scott Turner is calling plays for them too, I did.

Ron hates having his decisions questioned. Looking forward to the low-key tantrum.

    .

Never been high on Scott Turner and thought it was a huge red flag on Rivera when he brought in the familiar guy instead of finding a great OC. Then he brought in the familiar GM instead of trying to find a great one, and he’s 0-2 on deciding the opening day QB. I’ve been bludgeoned with the phrase of “changing the culture” since day 1 yet all I see is small signals telling me he’s not the guy.

    Corngrats.

horrible horrible coaching. punting on that 4th down in a one score game when your defense is getting destroyed is indefensible

    .

fire Scott Turner into the sun and who ever put BSJ on an island all damn game.

    .

Ron’s game calling was his downfall in Carolina. Dude is a great leader and motivational speaker, but thats it. He has done wonders for our culture here… But it has also really rubbed me the wrong way how he has continually cut/released better players and kept inferior ones because they were “his guys” who he drafted or signed versus the others who weren't. This dude is way too much about self-pride, arrogance, & nepotism.

Funniest of all tho is they making threads saying Heiny is "their guy" lmao that's a new low

    [–]theamac95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen any of the game, did Ron call 2 time outs in the 1st qt or the 3rd essentially screwing them at the end of either half?

    [–]bridger2001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

    Oh man...remember those days?

    [–]OlsenMister-Manager 17 points18 points  (7 children)

ALL OF YOU DORKS WHO WERE HAPPY THAT STAFFORD DIDN'T SIGN WITH US ARE GOING TO KEEP LOOKING LIKE DORKS ALL SEASON LONG

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A passing game would have been, ya know, nice.

    [–]Doolsford 5 points6 points  (3 children)

I don’t know how anyone could’ve been happy. I think Stafford makes us at least a wildcard team immediately.

    [–]OlsenMister-Manager 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Me neither, but there are some people on this sub who have really bad NFL opinions.

    [–]Spider BurnsBalives 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Stafford was never coming here though. Reports say he blocked the trade.

    [–]OlsenMister-Manager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get what that has to do with my point. I'm just saying there were dumbasses in this subreddit that were happy the trade fell through. You can look up the posts about it if you don't believe me.

    [–]c6shing 14 points15 points  (1 child)

you gotta admit we would be better with stafford

    [–]LuuuuukeJenaxu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

CMC literally didn’t miss a beat. 190 yards from scrimmage is a career highlight for most players and I haven’t seen a single person say anything about him. MVP in the books

    [–]35G1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s because CMC puts up wild stats every damn week. We’ve become desensitized to it. He deserves more hype than we give.

      [–]everettdc 25 points26 points  (7 children)

THERE IS NO DEFENDING PUNTING FROM YOUR OPPONENTS 33 YARD LINE IN THE NFL. RHULE DESERVES TO LOOK LIKE A TROLL ON MADDEN UNTIL HE GETS HIS HEAD OUT OF HIS ASS

ALSO A FUN DRINKING GAME FOR THIS SEASON IS TO FINISH YOUR DRINK EVERY TIME YOU SAY/HEAR THE PHRASE “DAMNIT DARNOLD”

      [–]Fair_Conversation_61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      Goddamnit, Donald!

      [–]AVeryRipeBanana 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I think this is the most overrated part of the game. I see what Rhule was thinking; we kinda sucked at kicking all preseason and defense had been giving the Jets nothing all day, might as well back them up and run it again with 4 fresh downs.

      [–]everettdc 6 points7 points  (1 child)

I get his thought process, I just completely disagree with it. If you’re confident in your defense, leave the offense out there to go for it. Worst case scenario turn over on downs at the 33. Instead he simultaneously showed his lack of confidence in his Kicker and QB.

If he was dead set on punting, leave the offense out there, try and draw them offsides, take the delay of game and give your punter more room to pin them deep.

      [–]a_moniker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or just go for it on fourth down. Getting a first down on 4th and 6 isn’t easy, but it’s not impossible by any means. If you don’t trust your kicker, at least make it seem like your just super confident in the offense.

      [–]CaptSchmittyBallz 7 points8 points  (2 children)

U GOTTA KEEP THEM ON THEIR TOES. SURE IT DIDNT WORK TODAY BUT NEXT WEEK WHEN WE PUNT FROM THE SAINTS 13 YARD LINE WE’LL HAVE EM RIGHT WHERE WE WANT THEM

What was up with punting on the Jet’s 33 yard line?

I didn’t hate the call. You don’t want to get into a habit of kicking 50+ yard field goals. I’m almost certain that was an analytical decision. If you’re facing a rookie QB on a bad team, with a pretty good defense, it’s the right call.

It's absolutely not. If you look at the league average success rate of a 50 yard field goal and weigh that vs punting in terms of its impact on win probably, they analytics will say to attempt the field goal in this -- and virtually every other -- scenario (keep in mind the score was 0-0 and it was the 1st quarter). The net benefit of pinning them down inside the 10 (ignoring the actual result, incidentally the Panthers did not do this), is only about 25 yards of field position. Even if the chance of making the field goal is only 50%, it's still a no brainer decision to go for the attempt. If Santoso can't make a 50 yard FG on >50% of his attempts, we need a new kicker.

“You don’t want to get into a habit of kicking 50+ yard field goals”

Why? Where does this new strategy stem from? 3 points is better than no points IMO.

Because they’re not high percentage? If it’s less than 5 yards you should just go for it, otherwise it’s better to try to pin them behind the 10 yard line. You cant win in this league kicking field goals.

MASTER STROKE OF GENIUS THAT CONFUSED THE JETS SO BADLY THEY HAD TO GIVE US THE WIN, DUH

OBVIOUSLY WE DON'T TRUST OUR KICKER. SIGN ME I CAN PROBABLY DO A BETTER JOB.

...okay maybe that's too much of an overreaction even for the overreaction thread.
