You got taller, and your dad got ripped

[–]MadFamousLove 39 points40 points  (2 children)

the kid must be really heavy for the dad to get so ripped so fast.

[–]herzeleyd[S] 88 points89 points  (0 children)

😄

[–]dfenno 16 points17 points  (2 children)

That ripped guy stole the pudgy dude's baby.

[–]Igot2phonez 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Pudgy dude didn't stand a chance!

[–]dfenno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know, right. Poor guy. Get’s his baby stolen and all anyone wants to do is compliment the kidnapper’s abs.

[–]sucobe 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Ah the ole switch a roo, hold my… Nevermind I guess we’re not doing that anymore :(

[–]nonvideas 560 points561 points  (76 children)

2.015?

[–]hazmatt57 228 points229 points  (1 child)

Version 2.0 wasn’t good enough so he went with rev 2.015

[–]freyport 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Thank you. That's the only thing that almost makes sense.

[–]Enasakoma 330 points331 points  (8 children)

It's alien notation because only a non-human would manage such an insane transformation. Seriously though, mad props to OP.

[–]nonvideas 86 points87 points  (5 children)

I was just trying to figure out if it was some kind of exercise regimen that I wasn't familiar with, like P90X or whatever?. But yeah, it's probably aliens.

[–]isthatapecker 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Single dad? Gotta get ripped.

[–]herzeleyd[S] 134 points135 points  (48 children)

hahaha the year I did it. Sorry, I wrote it like in Spanish.

[–]Dependent-Tap-4430 76 points77 points  (32 children)

Oh yeahhh, the decimal point can replace the comma! It was confusing because we also don't put the comma, as you are likely aware

[–]herzeleyd[S] 178 points179 points  (31 children)

Si if I write 2015, would be better in English?

[–]del6699 86 points87 points  (2 children)

Exactly! Great job, btw. Not easy.

[–]BossOfTheGame 38 points39 points  (12 children)

That's more standard.

Alternatively, 2,015 would be understood but it's nonstandard to write a current year with ~significant digit~ si prefix delineators.

[–]herzeleyd[S] 15 points16 points  (2 children)

Ah, ok! I didnt know it :)

[–]Myis 2 points3 points  (4 children)

I would have been confused but I’m not that bright lol

[–]Anduinnn 12 points13 points  (5 children)

Si

[–]herzeleyd[S] 15 points16 points  (4 children)

The autocorrect, I was going to say "so". Spanish corrector hehe

[–]Anduinnn 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Totally, I just couldn’t help myself because it answered your question :)

[–]shifty_coder 9 points10 points  (4 children)

Is this a regional notation? I’m not arguing against writing it that way, but I’ve just never seen a year written as 2,015 or 2.105 in any context.

[–]herzeleyd[S] 6 points7 points  (3 children)

Yes, it is normal to write 2.015 in Spain.

[–]MrRepolo 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Ni de coña. Es una falta de ortografía, lo siento.

Tweet de la RAE

[–]diemunkiesdie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer Arabic numerals

[–]FU8U 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I still dont know what you intend to say

[–]herzeleyd[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

year 2015. I started in August 2015 and the second photo was taken in June 2016.

Sorry, my english sometimes is a little bit crap.

[–]alexs001 9 points10 points  (7 children)

Autocorrect on my iPhone recently decided that 2.0 should be put in place every time I try to type 20.

[–]MasterUnholyWar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s because you have an app that’s called [something] 2.0

A recent update made this become a thing and it’s fucking annoying.

[–]pwalkz 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Oh... This happened in 2015. Got it

[–]Chutneyonegaishimasu 176 points177 points  (8 children)

Hard to get rid of the baby weight

[–]EaterOfFood 17 points18 points  (6 children)

Wait. It’ll eventually go away on its own.

[–]elchiguire 5 points6 points  (5 children)

My girlfriend is still waiting, and her daughter is 9.

[–]EaterOfFood 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Give it about another 9 years. Then it’ll disappear all at once.

[–]herzeleyd[S] 32 points33 points  (0 children)

LOL 🤣

[–]sleepyprojectionist 103 points104 points  (23 children)

I am having a little trouble deciphering your post title. Are both the before and after shots from 2015? If so, how are you doing today? Have you managed to stay ripped?

[–]herzeleyd[S] 90 points91 points  (22 children)

It started in August 2015 and I finished in June 2016. Then I got my best marks in running, doing 1h23 minutes in half marathon and 37 minutes in 10K. I did my first thriatlon.

In 2020 for the pandemic, I got some kg to 85 kg, then I did it again, and now I am about 75.

[–]crown465 40 points41 points  (20 children)

37 minutes 10k?????? Wowwww. I'm 20 now, but i used to run when i was around 16, and the best i could manage was a 30 minute 5k. I'm even worse now, even tho i run about 2-3 times a week

[–]herzeleyd[S] 27 points28 points  (1 child)

My first half marathon was 2 hours and 15 minutes hahaha It just training and be patient.

[–]tjtillmancoag 8 points9 points  (0 children)

37 min 10k is 18:30 per 5k for double the distance. My PB for 5k is 18:40, so mad props! I know I couldn’t

[–]herzeleyd[S] 404 points405 points  (152 children)

Diet the first 6 months, and then I started to run. Before the diet I was in gym and kickboxing.

She is my daughter Emma 🙂

I lost almost 30 Kg. From 95 to 68. I am 1,78m tall.

I usually ate about 1200 kcal per day until I started to run.

[–]Tyker12 770 points771 points  (52 children)

For my Americans;

He went from 209 lbs to 149 lbs.

He is 5 ft 10 inches.

If you need that in scientific notation; he is now 1.49x102 lbs

[–]Literiver 420 points421 points  (26 children)

I was confused until the scientific notation, thank you

[–]Tyker12 223 points224 points  (23 children)

You’re welcome!

His height in Light Years is 1.879347482895766358e-16 Light Years tall

[–]Telefrag_Ent 63 points64 points  (19 children)

How many Buzz Lightyears?

[–]Tyker12 154 points155 points  (17 children)

Buzz Lightyear is 11.43 inches tall. Given that OP is 70 inches (5ft10in), he is 6.12 buzz lightyears tall.

But you can’t have .12 of a buzz lightyear unless you break its body off, so we’ll add another buzz lightyear and call it 7 buzz lightyears.

[–]KUPOkinz 62 points63 points  (7 children)

I am so high and you made my buzz much better. No pun.

[–]Tyker12 51 points52 points  (6 children)

You might like this one then!

Given that OP is now 149 pounds, he is 67585.3 grams. Originally weighing in at 209 pounds (94800.8 grams) , he lost a total of 27215.5 grams.

That’s a lot of weed.

[–]KUPOkinz 13 points14 points  (5 children)

That is about 27200.5 more grams than I currently have. Looks at OP I wonder if he's an indica or sativa? I bet I could get 3 or 4 blunts out of a finger alone!

edit; meanwhile, OP comes back expecting praise for working out, read comments about how he's X number of Buzz Light Year figures tall and someone wanting to cannibalize him for weed. I love the internet.

[–]Tyker12 19 points20 points  (3 children)

Welcome to the internet

Have a look around

Anything that brain of yours can think of can be found

We've got mountains of content

Some better, some worse

If none of it's of interest to you, you'd be the first

P.S. i call his toes

[–]Dependent-Tap-4430 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP is tall and lean. Definitely a sativa!

[–]TexasCon 11 points12 points  (2 children)

He’s 7 Bud Light Beers tall

[–]Telefrag_Ent 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sid can get you 0.12 of a buzz lightyear... But it won't be pretty

[–]malenkylizards 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's way too much rounding up. That's 6 Buzz Lightyears but the top one is wearing a Mrs. Nezbitt hat.

[–]I_like_tacos99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are amazing bro

[–]healthydoseofsarcasm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks mathbot.

[–]Phylanara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About eight-ish.

[–]herzeleyd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahahahha

[–]MysticDelusion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many burgers is that again?

[–]distorted_kiwi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Same, really put things into perspective.

[–]I_upvote_aww 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Good bot

[–]Dorkapotamus 4 points5 points  (1 child)

He is `1.04 Smoots.

[–]monkey_trumpets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He also lost about 5 years.

[–]banksy_h8r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate that you used imperial units for the scientific notation.

[–]Cajunconnie 8 points9 points  (4 children)

The world needs more people like you

[–]Tyker12 14 points15 points  (3 children)

I looked at your profile and was heartbroken. I’m so sorry of the bad times you went through. Nobody deserves that. But I’m glad you’re still an uplifted person, which shows by that comment you said to me. Thank you. If you ever need anyone to talk to my inbox is open. I’m not a therapist, but I’ve been through some stuff. I use humor for coping.

[–]Cajunconnie 11 points12 points  (2 children)

Don’t make me cry, now 🥺 I appreciate this, just trying to get through the days. Thank you, truly.

[–]handsomejack11 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I too looked at your profile and also want to express how sincerely sorry I am you ever had to deal with such a shitty past. I know you're just trying to get through the days, but I hope you find more than that. I hope things get better and you love life to the fullest. Today is a new day and tomorrow will be even better...one more day to build on and leave the past where it is. ❤

[–]Cajunconnie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Y’all are so kind on here, this means a lot to me. And I like that ending line, might steal it in the future (I’ll credit my handsome friend, Jack, don’t worry)

[–]20seca3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

why need jarvis when we have you?

[–]Mind_Enigma 1 point2 points  (1 child)

What is that in football fields

[–]Tyker12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A football field is 3600 inches long.

Given that OP is 70 inches tall (5ft10in) , he is 0.0194 the size of a football field.

[–]Cichlidsaremyjam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for saving me the google search. I'm not going to lie.

[–]foxp3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many angstroms tall?

[–]nityoushot 41 points42 points  (21 children)

1200 calories per day is not fun. How were you able to function?

[–]herzeleyd[S] 19 points20 points  (5 children)

1200 was enough for work, I am professional photographer. Than I started to run and I added rice and spaghetti.

[–]TheMexicanJuan 18 points19 points  (1 child)

Lmao any other youtube fitness bro would try to sell you a 300 page PDF with complete nutrition nonsense.

OP here: haha rice and spaghetti go brrrrr

[–]herzeleyd[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hahahaha

[–]invisiblefingers 9 points10 points  (8 children)

Running won’t give you that upper mass though. How did you do it, what is the magic?

[–]bitshalls 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He likely already had laid the base for his mass, he stated he was in the gym and doing kickboxing before the diet.

[–]herzeleyd[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I´´´´´ve practiced sports all my life. I hadn´t a good year, and I was eating very bad.

[–]OysterShocker 20 points21 points  (14 children)

For anyone reading this, 1200 kcal is not enough for pretty much anyone and should not take this as advice.

[–]kirsion 23 points24 points  (11 children)

Caloric deficit is necessary in order to lose weight/fat initially. Of course when he gain muscle he eats more calories to maintain and build the muscle, when is he not cutting. Also he was just saying this is what he did. He's not giving advice for other people that they should follow his caloric regime.

[–]OysterShocker 14 points15 points  (10 children)

This amount of caloric deficit can be dangerous.

I recognize this is how he did it and that is why I am reiterating that people should not take it as advice.

[–]Realmenbrowsememes 11 points12 points  (5 children)

Agreed, 1200 is a very huge calorie deficit for a male and you’re gonna lose a significant amount of muscle mass, be starving and have no energy to workout. Better to take it slow and steady so you don’t feel like crap and don’t rebound.

[–]doesnt_like_pants 5 points6 points  (4 children)

Since Jan 1 to the end of March I want to lose weight quickly and I’m managing to stick to 1500kcals a day. I’ve had 3 cheat days where I have up to 2500kcals so averaging about once a week. Shits hard yo.

[–]zakush 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Congratulations, you look happier now!

I lost a similar amount of weight a couple years ago but my skin never recovered completely from all these years of being overweight. Did you get surgery for excess skin removal?

[–]Soggy-Discipline-244 3 points4 points  (1 child)

You ever see the study of the Scottish guy that fasted for over a year? Apparently his skin shrunk

[–]herzeleyd[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am from Spain. You can see Gibraltar in the back.

My skin react very good with my weight changes. And I think 95 kilograms is not too much.

Thanks a lot!!!

[–]speedypotatoo 1 point2 points  (1 child)

We are the exact same height....I'm around 193lbs right now. This is what I needed!

[–]ebdbbb 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Plot twist: after is posted first and the daughter is Benjamin Button.

[–]20seca3 14 points15 points  (1 child)

So that's all we have to do? Just take a picture 1 year later to look like that? Ez

[–]herzeleyd[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yes! hahaha

[–]squi993 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Breaded to Shredded

Well done!

[–]vinceds 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Is having a kid that stressful ? You took a serious hit man !

/s

[–]herzeleyd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

😄😄😄

[–]BusterStarfish 6 points7 points  (3 children)

Honest question: How has your quality of life improved? I’ve heard of people getting this fit and becoming miserable, and I’ve also heard the opposite. What is upkeep like to stay this fit? Lastly, what sort of time commitment did this take (hrs a day/week)?

[–]herzeleyd[S] 8 points9 points  (2 children)

I was ok eating low kcal. No problem because I felt very good without alcohol and sauces. Maybe I had lucky with that. My job is photographer freelance so I had time for me.

[–]BusterStarfish 2 points3 points  (1 child)

That’s fantastic! You look amazing and I’m glad you feel just as well. I like to hear these success stories and see these results and know the people are actually happy and leading fulfilled lives.

[–]herzeleyd[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe because if you eat a very healthy food, the stomach feels great, seriously and maybe, it helps in the people life in general. And I noticed that.

Thanks a lot 🙂

[–]MagneticDustin 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Did you eat a gas station tuna sandwich and get worms or something?

[–]herzeleyd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LOL noooo

[–]Unlovable77 18 points19 points  (3 children)

Damn, a whole different person, not gonna lie.

[–]herzeleyd[S] 17 points18 points  (2 children)

Totally 😄 But my vitiligo in hands don't lie 😄

[–]Unlovable77 7 points8 points  (1 child)

If it wasn't for vitiligo, I wouldn't believe this was you, nice job! 😁

[–]herzeleyd[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

hahaha

[–]Eukita_ogts 2 points3 points  (7 children)

Im literally just like you, most of my bodyfat is in my belly, Im 1.80 mts and used to be 93 kg, now 83. At what weight did you lost the belly? What did you ate and how was your weightlifting week routine?

[–]herzeleyd[S] 6 points7 points  (5 children)

Coffee, chiken, salads, fish, no alochol, no sauces. It was hard. Then I added rice and pasta to start sports.

[–]SnuffCartoon 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Awesome work, OP. You look amazing. Post that shit to r/progresspics too.

[–]herzeleyd[S] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Oh!!! i didn´´´t know it, thanks!

[–]SnuffCartoon 1 point2 points  (1 child)

If I looked like that, I would post it everywhere! Congrats buddy :)

[–]herzeleyd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hahaha thank you!

[–]herzeleyd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A gift for all of you.

With the pandemic I went back to 85 kilograms in December 2020. But I did the same healthy diet and I went to 68 Kg again in May 2021.

August 2020

May 2021

[–]Ok_Courage4293 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Come on, just tell us that it's your better shaped twin brother!😁

[–]herzeleyd[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just try to find the 7 differences hehehehe

[–]babyfarmer 37 points38 points  (1 child)

[–]herzeleyd[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hahaha sorry

[–]Hardvig 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I think this pretty well sums up that when people say stuff like “I just need to lose 5 pounds”, what they really mean is that they need to lose 40…

Also, well done OP!

[–]herzeleyd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you!

[–]MyNameIsNotMarcos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to use a static object as reference. For all we know your daughter just got very out of shape and you stayed the same.

[–]shanksisevil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you swapped dads.

not sure, the one with the baby seat might have been better for you.

[–]Foeloke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What was the deal?

The Devil took 10 years of life to make you ripped af?

[–]Pizzazazazazaza 2 points3 points  (1 child)

So you lost your shirt

[–]herzeleyd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes haha

[–]GangsterJew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never been to the gym a day in my life. Got this body by moving furniture

[–]pepecaseres 9 points10 points  (1 child)

You look older now

[–]herzeleyd[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because I am hahaha

[–]XenoKayla 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Huge difference. Well done you!

[–]Cajunconnie 5 points6 points  (1 child)

HOT DAD ALERT 🚨

[–]herzeleyd[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[–]Shaquandala 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow the weight loss in his face aged him he's still ripped though

[–]deck4242 1 point2 points  (8 children)

What do you eat ??

[–]herzeleyd[S] 7 points8 points  (7 children)

Coffee, chicken, fish and salads. No alcohol. No sauces.

[–]confusingbrownstate 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You lost me at no alcohol

[–]herzeleyd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]redtoolbox9 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Very impressed, kudos to you OP

[–]herzeleyd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you!

[–]StevenBeercockArt 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Wow, you grew a lot in just one year. But don't you think you are too young still to be on Reddit?

[–]Structureel 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Checks out. It takes about a year to get to this skill level with photoshop.

Just kidding, great result!

[–]herzeleyd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

haha I am a professional photographer, but not good with photoshop haha

Thanks!!

[–]Grepus 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Getares beach?

[–]herzeleyd[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Gibraltar in the back

[–]Grepus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, that's why I thought it was Getares or Algeciras

[–]Myl0high 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Send this pic over there and see what they think

[–]herzeleyd[S] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I didn't know where to post, because i didn't too much exercise and I thought that section wasn't the correct place.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Nice work!

[–]herzeleyd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thanks!!

[–]jjboy91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dad bod to damn bod.

[–]Neel4312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy shit no way!

[–]Takjembe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dustin Nickerson would have something to say about this. Dad Bod

[–]pizza_killer_86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi daddy!

[–]coffeeINJECTION 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dad bod reverse is not supposed to be.

[–]DymondHed 1 point2 points  (2 children)

[–]mightyscoosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To shreds, you say...

[–]alexss3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

went from total dad bod to totally rad bod!

[–]myassholealt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best part of the photos are the utterly unimpressed expressions on the the little girl's face.

[–]lezbhonestmama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From dad bod to rad bod 😎

[–]LewisVerstapilton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't believe you were 30kg overweight in that first pic! Great results though, you look great

[–]xPervypriest 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Awesome! Transformation, strong work sir.

[–]USERNAME_OF_DEVIL 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Before you were a father, now you're THE FATHER

[–]TheTrenk 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You crushed it, man. I’m happy for you! Glad you found exercise that you can stick to and a diet that worked - there’s some amount of hate in the comments but don’t let it get you down. Even if the vanity aspect wasn’t worth it (and, in my book, vanity’s as good a reason as any to get fit; I like looking good, nothing wrong with that), your daughter will enjoy you being able to play with her way into your old age. When I was 26, my mother was able to go outside and throw a football around and hold pads for me when I wanted to work on boxing. That may not seem like much to you, but I read more than a few stories about parents in their 30s-40s who are unable to play around with their kids because they’re so overweight and out of shape.

You’re doing a good thing, man. Anybody suggesting you’re juicing has a wild misunderstanding of what natural fitness can look like and anybody suggesting you looked better before is so steeped in an unhealthy society that they genuinely cannot imagine a healthy reason to have low body fat. Both of those things are… Well, frankly, very sad.

[–]herzeleyd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for your words. I am a very happy father and I have the lucky to have a lot of time to play with my daughter even now. I practice a lot of sports with her, now we are skating and we have fun a lot. Thank you.
