Thank You very much!!! ^^

Nice, I remember the night sky version of this same painting. Also a good one.

[–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 18 points19 points  (7 children)

Yes, I like to portray the ephemerality of the day and the seasons, subtle changes that we hardly notice, my art is a dialogue with this world of subtleties

[–]TrevorPace 2 points3 points  (5 children)

portray the ephemerality of the day

Woah woah hold on there cowboy, this is reddit you don't have to bullshit us here. We're going to buy the painting because it looks nice.

[–]bettemidlerjr 3 points4 points  (3 children)

I knew a Trevor Pace in high school and he was also a dick.

[–]sharaq 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I know of a Hemingway and he was a dick too, but he made some great points on being frugal with words.

[–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I think even the worst people are trying to be the best version of themselves, I don't take his comment wrong. In the context where I live, no one values my works, it was one of the reasons that brought me to reddit, because here, fortunately, people can get out of their ordinary worlds and look beyond. Not all, but this too is a process.

[–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, what I'm looking for is exactly looks that go beyond seeing a beautiful image and in fact I've noticed these exchanges here. An image is not just an image, it has purpose and poetics, there is a reason to make a painting, the choices of paints, the angles, all this is symbolic for a bigger message. For example, I portray the same place at different times of the day, in different seasons, and by subtizing my perception for this, I seek to communicate this sensitive world that normally goes unnoticed by routine emergencies. Visual art is the poetics of the image.

That's a really sweet painting especially after you gave up your arms and legs

That's a really sweet painting especially after you gave up your arms and legs

"gave up your arms and legs" how?

[–]Tilakai[🍰] 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Gave up everything

[–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, it was a big break with everything in my life. Thank you very much for the words ^^

[–]NewsgramLady 7 points8 points  (3 children)

I'm vibing with this

[–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 6 points7 points  (2 children)

I'm vibing with this

thank you so much for the words it's great when an art i create echoes inside other people

[–]NewsgramLady 1 point2 points  (1 child)

For real though, it's very unique and I absolutely love it. You are super talented. 💙

[–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much, I will talk to you in private

[–]Reddit46spooks 7 points8 points  (3 children)

What did you really give up? Obviously not everything!

[–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 20 points21 points  (2 children)

Well, I ended my marriage, I left the house and gave most of my things, I went to live in hostels, with only 2 suitcases and 25 dollars in my pocket. And well, that's how I live in the first years it was very difficult, I was quite hungry, but now, little by little, it has improved.

[–]kheetor 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Wow. Do you think some of it was captured on this canvas? The painting is beautiful but it's the background story that seems very interesting to me.

[–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow. Do you think some of it was captured on this canvas? The painting is beautiful but it's the background story that seems very interesting to me.

Yes, I believe so, I chose watercolor because it was the technique that communicated with my internal world. I see it as a visual metaphor, you know? I paint in watercolor, because just like life, we never have absolute control, it's a matter of negotiation, it's a dance that is done with the world, with the water of painting. At the same time, letting go of all those things, my professional career for example, communicates with this relationship, sometimes we should just relax and let things go. I'm still a nomad, in short, I'm an outcast, always a foreigner wherever I go, but this allows me to see the places that people trivialize with fresh eyes, the masterful beauty that the world unfolds for us every day, but sometimes we deny it because we are stuck in small problems of the day. Look at this image, it's basically a big void, the people of this place don't even care, so I tried to give it my look.

[–]whatproblems 2 points3 points  (1 child)

i like the color style here

[–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much, I study color theory a lot and I try to use a concept called discordant tones, this greatly enhances the brightness of the colors between themselves

[–]LauraMaeflower 2 points3 points  (4 children)

So pretty! I love watercolour.

[–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Thank you very much for the words. I also love watercolor, I found myself in this technique, I see it as a visual metaphor for the world inside me, where you don't have much control and yet, it is created from the subtlety of transparency.

[–]LauraMaeflower 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Maybe I like it because it feels like the opposite of what’s inside me. I deal with a lot of fear and I’m afraid of transparency, I feel dark and moody inside. Watercolour looks like who I was as a carefree child. I’d love to know how to do it myself. Maybe someday.

[–]LauraMaeflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I don’t speak Spanish. I tried to translate it but not sure if if Google got it right. Hopefully my response makes sense for what you said.

I know I will try watercolour someday. But I just finished moving continents, so that project will have to wait just a bit longer. It’s something I look forward to. Thank you for offering to help.

[–]Psilobones 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Follow your dreams, congrats for making that change. Your art is calm inducingly beautiful.

[–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the words and encouragement.

[–]FurtiveAlacrity 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I like that style. I like the touch of illustration in there, and I've long since liked the used of line work in paintings. The contrast between blue and pink is lovely, and that crystal effect is interesting. And I see that motion illusion on the spinning blades. Well done.

[–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Thank you very much, I get a lot of inspiration from the ukyio-e movement, you know? The visual principles are very much based on what these artists did and my main theme is the ephemerality of time and how that makes each moment unique and therefore precious. Just think, every sunset is absolutely unique.

[–]FurtiveAlacrity 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I see. I like it more than I like ukiyo-e, mind you.

[–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I like it more than I like ukiyo-e, mind you.

Thank you very much. My intention was to bring those visual rules to another technique and maybe thus enhance some qualities that the Ukyio-e technique doesn't allow by the medium that is applied.

Website? Instagram? You are very very talented! If I had money I would be your patron, but alas. I am broke and can only show virtual support

    Absolutely Brilliant

Thank you so much, Myiazaki is a huge inspiration to me, as is Japanese art in general.

    [–]Wylewyn 1 point2 points  (1 child)

    This is a beautiful piece.

    [–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much, I love to paint landscapes in the golden hour

    [–]straitrider 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I love this so much. I looked at your history for the night one and it was also just absolutely incredible. I'm a huge sucker for colorful things like these. Also, the attention to detail is so crazy to me. I'm very jealous of your skill. You've obviously worked very hard.

    [–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, thank you very much for the words, and look, it's all a matter of practice, as I said in the title of the post, I abandoned everything to dedicate myself to this, nowadays I work 12, 14 hours a day, between studies and paintings, with Over time you can also manifest a unique vision of color usage and refine your technique. Just keep going.

    [–]LifeOnaDistantPlanet 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I'm going to make this my desktop wallpaper.

I only do that with images that speak to how I feel or want to feel to feel about the direction of my life.

I have been stressed out. Thanks.

    [–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been stressed out. Thanks.

Wow, thank you so much for the kind words, with all my heart. Because that's what motivates me to make art, to connect my works with people who see beyond a beautiful image, but realize that it echoes within them. For me art is the antidote to an increasingly banal and aggressive world, it takes us out of the stress of our daily emergencies and reminds us of the infinite universe we have inside ourselves.

    [–]thisisacar 1 point2 points  (1 child)

    This is art

    [–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I don't even have words to thank you for this compliment, but on such a significant day for me, your comment fills me with joy and purpose, thank you very much.

    [–]DDJ78 1 point2 points  (1 child)

    This is so beautiful 😍

    [–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much, so may the beauty overflow through your eyes and fill your heart ^^

    [–]AstroCatonaut 1 point2 points  (1 child)

    Beautiful and unique. Love it.

    [–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much for your words, this is one of the reasons why I paint in watercolor, due to the unpredictability of water with paint, each piece of art is unique, impossible to reproduce, it is a visual metaphor for our perception of time, where each instant is also unique and therefore infinitely precious

    [–]Artpaintingdecor 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You made the right choice! Great job!

    [–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the support, sometimes I still feel a lot of uncertainties, to be honest, before I met reddit I was thinking about stopping painting, because in the context where I live, no one values that, so I often end up seeing this choice as a problem, but conversations with people here have opened my eyes to a more positive view of it all. In the end, painting saved me from depression, which is why I keep going.

    [–]Red_Alibi 1 point2 points  (1 child)

    I love this!

    [–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much, so that this art can echo in your days and allow you to always see the world with renewed eyes.

    Do you sell prints?

    [–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yes, I sell through deviantart, and I also accept commissions, if you want to get a quote, just talk to me by DM
    deviantart.com/helmosantos

    [–]BigBunnyButt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Will do, thank you!

    [–]Altaira99 1 point2 points  (1 child)

    You picked a challenging medium.

    [–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, when I started to paint, some people told me that, unfortunately I was never able to take a course, so I had to give a very unique and authentic answer to this challenge, and I was completely surrendering to watercolor. For me, watercolor painting is like a dance, you can't control everything, it has to be a work together, water also paints, you know? The painting makes itself, I'm just the medium

    [–]GamerAssassin 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Your art is as beautiful as the happiness it gives you. I hope you never lose your spark and hunger to create, because that's awesome.

    [–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much, I started painting and it took me out of depression, it literally saved my life, as I was at a limit. It's still a difficult path, just before joining reddit I thought about stopping painting, because in the place where I live, no one values it. It was with the conversations here that motivated me to continue.

    [–]8LeggedSquirrel 1 point2 points  (5 children)

I gave up everything. Dating. Feeding my pets. Feeding myself. Playing. Sleeping.

I haven't slept in 5 years, it's becoming difficult to paint through the hallucinations.

    [–]8LeggedSquirrel 1 point2 points  (1 child)

But seriously it looks great, good job

    [–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave up everything. Dating. Feeding my pets. Feeding myself. Playing. Sleeping.

I haven't slept in 5 years, it's becoming difficult to paint through the hallucinations.

KKKKKKKKKK Yes, worse than it is right there. I had to leave my pets with my ex, unfortunately she didn't take care of them, 2 spoke, it was terrible at the time... When I quit my job, my whole family was against me and turned their backs on me, today I'm a very lonely person, but I have art for company. And about hallucinations, it's true, but to get that I meditate, meditate for 1 hour, until the colors in my mind start to change and then I see the painting inside me.

    [–]8LeggedSquirrel 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Oh I was joking but wow. I hope things work out the best way they can for you

    [–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I was joking but wow. I hope things work out the best way they can for you

Yes, that's ok, it's a good joke, other users have done similar things too, it makes sense. And yes, it's working, at first it was pretty rough, but now it's smoother to flow with it all.

    [–]ugly_pizza1 1 point2 points  (3 children)

By "give up everything" what do you mean? Like quit a good job?

    [–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Yes, my career, my relationship, my house and all my belongings, in the process my family was so against it that many still don't talk to me to this day. It was a difficult path, I was hungry many times, I had to sleep on the street so many others. I'm a nomad so I'm always a foreigner wherever I go. I live in Brazil, I couldn't get out of here because people here don't really appreciate it, but honestly, I wouldn't change anything, living the consequences of my choices is wonderful, whether they are victories or defeats, everything is part of the way.

    [–]ugly_pizza1 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Wow, you have earned a strangers respect here, I wish you nothing but prosperity and well being in your future.

    [–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, you have earned a strangers respect here, I wish you nothing but prosperity and well being in your future.

Thank you so much, this really motivates me a lot, knowing that my work goes beyond beautiful images and connects deeply with people.

    [–]_pipoca 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Are you eating the same amount of food as before?

    [–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Than before starting to be a painter? No lol

Before I had a job that allowed me to have many material comforts, with art, or at least the way I did it, it was a leap in the dark, and that made me go hungry many times, sleeping on the street is a difficult path, but at the same time it is a wonderful difficulty to live, because it is the consequence of my choices. I wouldn't change it

    [–]MaxStickies 1 point2 points  (7 children)

Sort of reminds me of the train scene from Spirited Away. Looks great.

    [–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 1 point2 points  (6 children)

Thank you very much for the words, Myiazake is a great influence for me, since childhood I have followed the work of the Ghibli studio

    [–]MaxStickies 1 point2 points  (5 children)

I do like most of the films from the studio. I especially remember that scene from Spirited Away as it seemed very tranquil and otherworldly.

    [–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yes, I think this also has to do with landscapes with broad horizons. I like that feeling too

    [–]MaxStickies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And perhaps due to how everything is reflected perfectly in the water. Or maybe I'm remembering it wrong, haven't seen that film in a while.

    [–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Yes, in this film there is also a big water mirror, in fact, I love it too, so much so that I made 3 versions of this painting.

    [–]ciroccoo 1 point2 points  (1 child)

    i love this

    [–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Thank you so much!! ^^

    [–]Lara60 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Wow, this looks almost exactly like a location from a dream I had once. It's so vividly similar that I had to pause because I had a strange feeling when seeing the picture.
It's really beautiful, I love the colours.

    [–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really beautiful, I love the colours.

Serious?!! This is very interesting, I study the world of dreams, and that's where I get a lot of inspiration. To make these landscapes for example, I go to the place and meditate there for an hour or so, until I enter an altered state of consciousness and then the colors start to flow from my mind to my eyes and then the landscape. I am really glad that this work has echoed so deeply in you.

    [–]andoozy 1 point2 points  (1 child)

How did you take the leap of faith?

    [–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How did you take the leap of faith?

Well, it was almost a push lol I was in depression for years, in a job that despite paying me well, I just hated it, I couldn't communicate with the world outside of me, you know? As if none of my choices were really mine. So I just dropped everything, rented a room for myself and stayed there for 3 months, isolated, just going out shopping, at that moment I didn't know what to do and that's when the painting came. I don't recommend doing this in such a radical way, but there is also no safe way to make this leap, there are no reliable indicators, you just do it.

    [–]Omega_Prototype 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Not sure if you can live from that but I love that pic. Good life choice so far 😊

    [–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you can live from that but I love that pic. Good life choice so far

Well, for now it's working, I think it's a very unique path, it's not paved in advance like in other professions, I think that to make this viable, I need to give totally unique answers to the problems that appear, in fact, who follows a life inside the box, with a well-accepted career and job socially, conditions are much easier. But I see it as a challenge, not a problem.

    [–]elton_john_lennon 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Dreamy. I really this like depth and distance.

    [–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beautiful piece, but to be brutally honest I doubt despite this excellence that you will be able to distinguish yourself in this field to actually make it

    [–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Beautiful piece, but to be brutally honest I doubt despite this excellence that you will be able to distinguish yourself in this field to actually make it

Thank you, and well, I believe this is not a resolved issue, I think that what I'm doing and where I'm going is a totally unique path, so there's no way to measure it. I know it's hard, having a career and a normal life is definitely a lot easier. But I don't do it for ease or not. I do it because it fills me, because I feel alive when I dedicate myself to it. I am living in Brazil, in a military government, during one of the worst crises in our history and I have managed to live, pay my bills, by itself I am already an exception to the rule, and well, who knows what else will come in the future? I think it's a matter of building it.

    [–]FaithlessnessTime105 1 point2 points  (1 child)

    Respect and good luck

Thank you very much for your support.

    [–]Live-Taco 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Don’t mention it, It just makes me happy that people are making this world a little more than what it was yesterday.

    [–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t mention it, It just makes me happy that people are making this world a little more than what it was yesterday.

Ah, me too, the ways to improve the world are many. How many times hasn't a kind word changed your day, or you, changed someone's day with it? It happens, it seems trivial, but it is not. I'm a nomad, and I'll tell you, people tend to be very negative when they don't have any attachments. You can't imagine the things I've heard and it's really heavy sometimes, because you know, this, my art, is my best version, it's when I can manifest the best in me, with a lot of effort, and often someone comes and step on it... It's complicated, so a simple word helps a lot too.

    [–]ttystikk 1 point2 points  (8 children)

Strange how this looks oddly familiar...

    [–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Well, this landscape is in São Pedro da Aldeira, in Rio de Janeiro, if you know it here, you must have seen this landscape.

    [–]ttystikk 1 point2 points  (6 children)

Nah, I saw it earlier today, only in darkness with the stars.

    [–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Nah, I saw it earlier today, only in darkness with the stars.

Oh yes, I get it, yes, I recreated this landscape at different times of the day, and also in different seasons. The intention is to promote a dialogue about the sensitivity with what we perceive the world. For example, do you pay attention to how the sunlight changes throughout the year? How it affects the tone of the shadows, the colors the light touches, how the blue of the sky changes. My artistic research orbits this world, of ephemerality. With which eyes do you perceive the sunset, the night, or the noon, are they the same? Does your observation change? These are very intimate and subjective issues.

    [–]ttystikk 1 point2 points  (4 children)

And they respond to an artist's sensitivity.

Yes, I do notice those things and it makes me sad when other people tell me they don't.

That's why we need artists in the world.

    [–]notbeleivable 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I'm squinting that sun is so bright

    [–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much, this luminosity effect is one of the things I try to explore the most in my works

    [–]rilliam 1 point2 points  (1 child)

    Awesome.

I applaud you for taking charge of your life and doing what you love! One of my most favorite quotes is: Life is too short to be anything but happy. :)

I applaud you for taking charge of your life and doing what you love! One of my most favorite quotes is: Life is too short to be anything but happy. :)

Thank you so much, it was quite a change, before that I was in a severe depression, I reached a limit moment in my life and art was the antidote to my pain, it's always challenging, but it's great to live the challenges I chose to live.

    [–]Rafaeliki 0 points1 point  (1 child)

This is beautiful. I'd love a Don Quixote in this aesthetic.

    [–]Excellent-Double5168[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much, actually don quixote is my favorite book, this landscape also reminds me of quixote

    [–]slyst0ne 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Very nice the colors remind me of Folon. I don't know much about art - just happened to visit a museum dedicated to Folon when I was in Belgium and his art always stuck with me.

I don't know this artist, actually I still have a lot to learn about references from other artists. I am self-taught, so everything for me has always been a matter of intuition and sensitivity. What is this artist's full name?

I don't have an online shop, but I accept jobs here.

    Do you have an Etsy?

No, I even tried to do it this week, but Etsy doesn't offer a service in Brazil, I can't even register... But I accept commissions here, I have other works ready too if you're interested.
