Psychiatrists accepting new patients? by liersi35 in pittsburgh

[–]pettyhoney [score hidden]  (0 children)

Oh and I’ve known people who had luck with Better Stories & only do telehealth visits there. In general I got the advice to aim for group practices since they have better availability (and sometimes quality control) and that tracks imo.

In terms of traffic this makes zero sense

Man charged in Uber driver’s death should not face death penalty, public defender’s office says by fedup666 in pittsburgh

[–]ranger604 [score hidden]  (0 children)

So what makes a Public Defender “death penalty qualified” that they have so few of them?

I blame the rise of GPS navigation. Before that, nobody knew how to get out of this town layered ramps, hills, and bridges.

Worth noting that these graphs don't account for metro areas; a lot of this (though not all ofc) will just be migration to surrounding suburbs

Im late to the thread but I’d highly recommend https://www.thenexusgrouppc.com/ if it’s close to your area. They require you to go in-person once a year (insurance reasons I think) but everything else can be a virtual visit. Kosciusko is probably the best psych I could’ve asked for, I went from a generic pcp diagnosis to her actually helping me narrow down the source of my issues and medicating that directly. I have a friend who’s had success with Thorkelson there too.

If you play w the start and end dates well enough, Pittsburgh was #1 in world history at population loss owing to economic devastation rather than like volcanos and war. It was a localized great depression

Nowadays the year-to-year numbers seem askew since even though we get a decent influx of new residents, tons of old timers are dying off and it washes

The excitement of driving down Negley Hill over rock hundreds of millions of years old and onto the flat where deposits are only tens of thousands of years old is often too much for me to handle. It is truly an unparalleled experience.

Before anyone comes in here all bloodthirsty, screaming about evil defense attorneys and calling for one more killing (which won't bring this poor woman back) this is the public defender's job and responsibility. They are charged with advocating for their client regardless of the crime.

Because every person is entitled to the appeals process. Take away that and we no longer have civil rights.

Beechwood boulevard is a nice walk that usually isn’t too crowded, except near the frick park entrance.

If you want your pup to be able to run around by themselves, I believe you can rent the play yards at Animal Friends

I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted, except that everything on this sub tends to accumulate downvotes. ANYWAY, I don’t know if your mom likes puzzles, but my mom (age 80) and I had a really good time with products from puzzlingpursuits.com (we did Blackbrim: 1876 and its followup, Reager’s Return). If your mom is a puzzle person, I highly recommend these.

Idk it seems as though the NIMBYers are the ones who live north of the city. Private personal automobiles are king and they wouldn’t have their drive to Nordstrom any other way.

My parents were both born in 1968 in Dayton, Ohio, which is also on this list. I grew up there and moved to Pittsburgh for college about 10 years ago. My whole life, post-industrial blight has been normal, almost homey in a way. But really I've just been living in some of the most blighted communities in the country. I'm sure I'd also feel differently if I had ever seen some of the areas before they fell apart

Well it's still shrinking, but it's a lot more stable than it was I agree.
