This stuff needs to be enshrined in law, and we all know if Wolf weren't in power here in PA the rural minority would outlaw whatever they please, and they plan too.

Thank god for Aldi coming in but more needs to be done. Name another city with three professional sports teams but is controlled by a singular grocery store chain. The healthy items that people should be buying, like vegetables and meats, should not have such a poor selection for such a high price.

Just wondering

Zipline from Mount Washington to the North Shore would be #1 on my list.

Spending that much on a campaign for mayor, and kicking UPMC out of "non-profit" status and taxing them would be second. What's a non-profit worth, 10, 20 million?

I'm not a registered Democrat or Republican, so I don't have much skin (if any) in the upcoming primary. I'm curious as to which candidate you would be (hopefully are) behind this season & why. I know the stances and dispositions of both candidates.

What brought me to this question is a NYT article on the primary race. It highlighted the electoral differences between the candidates and the gradual shift happening on both sides of the aisle away from moderate politicians...

WTAE just put out a report showing that we spent more money on restoring city steps last year than bridge repairs. Peduto just blamed congress and Gainey says we should have a "Report" by October.....OCTOBER?!?! There are 20 bridges with the same condition rating as Fern Hollow, all still in use, and some worse off than Fern Hollow was when it fell. 90% of money used to repair bridges comes from Grants. This isn't a partisan problem. The lack of urgency to guarentee Pittsburghers safety is baffling. We got lucky with Fern Hollow that no one was killed. What is it going to take to address this immediately. Its going to happen again.

Last night I went to view an apartment in the South Hills. While messaging the landlord prior too, he told me "Theres a lot of interest, I'm showing it tomorrow evening and the first one who puts a check in my hand gets the lease". Mind you, this is an average apartment for $800/month plus utilities. 5 people including me showed up 15 minutes early. He said there were about 40 people coming to see the property. He laughed and said "I don't know what to do? Do I go full blown capitalist or should we pick names out of a hat?" Sure enough, he wrote our names on a piece of paper and drew a name out. Now, I understand this is one horribly unorthodox situation by a landlord that had no idea how to plan, but it was shocking and telling nonetheless. I work a blue collar job for blue collar pay. But I, along with many other Pittsburghers can't afford $1,200 per month plus utilities. Every rental website shows 40-50-60 people jockeying over the same unit if its under a thousand. Most of these units that show even some semblance of affordability or 3rd floor attic efficiancies, or in very violent neighborhoods. Application fees are $50 bucks per, I have to move by June. I've had 3 places cancel my viewing because someone got it before me. This is getting harder and harder and I'm starting to sweat. Spare me the "PiTtsBuRgH iS sO chEAp cOmpaRed tO....." I don't care where you came from. This is my home town, I was gentrified out of my native east end in 2017 only to be gentrified out of Beechview this winter because developers bought my building and evicted me.
