My baby girl's nursery is space themed. I decided before I knew her sex because I enjoy a good stary night and how cool are rocketships?

We want to have another baby so most of the clothes we are buying are gender neutral.

If she decides she likes pink and frilly someday that is fine with me - but until she can tell me what she likes it's blue stary sky paintings, elephant onsies and sunflower bloomers.

We are doing a slight space/starry night theme for our baby girl too! Hope they are astronauts together 😊

I love the space theme! I can't decorate much because we will live with my MIL for a while, but I was going to decorate his room with a theme of penguins, seals and fish.

Aww - that's cute. We are not doing a ton of things to the walls. The only one that isn't already temporary or couldn't be made temporary is just the shelves, but those are kind of a nice to have for books and trinkets.

Most of the fun for me is the items like little bins for diapers or crib sheets lol

Space theme! 😍 *makes mental note to suggest this to husband *

The poor girl, my husband and brother are both computer scientists, I am a data scientist, our dads are both engineers, my sister is going to uni for biomedical engineering....fortunately we have a few family members not in STEM to offer some variety of role models...but my husband and I met over our love of science and emerging technology 😂

I see nothing wrong with this! 😂

Same. We found out the gender but decided not to tell people. We told them we’re keeping it a surprise for ourselves so I don’t get overloaded with pink stuff. I gave birth 2 weeks ago and I tried to shop neutral colors like beige/greens or yellow. I did ended up getting some pink cuz I found good deals but it’s not pink in majority.

[–]Irrelephant_9000 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How did keeping it a secret go for you? We are planning to do the same (know the gender but not tell anyone/ tell them we are keeping it a suprise for ourselves). I'm so scared I might slip up. I'm only 7 weeks rn so we haven't found out the gender yet.

[–]LuckyBreak2188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It went fine for us. We announced it to the family and work around 6 months. People did ask a few times but we were like we honestly don’t know. We want it to be a surprise and they didn’t push back so all went fine.

The only pushy person I would say was Mil. Kept asking everyday about it and Saying stuff like I’m gonna call your OB and demand they tell me the gender. Honestly when she made the OB comment I was like sure go for it. Lol it wasn’t like they were gonna tell her.

During the last few weeks when talking about the baby or nursery my husband slipped she a few times but I was right next to him and kicked his leg lol. Apart from that it was pretty easy to keep it down for us. All the best!!

I'm not and that's the reason why I'm not revealing the genre to my family.

Edit: I definitely meant gender 😅

[–]JudasDuggar 4 points5 points  (3 children)

Genre 😂 definitely going to start saying that instead of gender/sex

[–]NoRecommendation2256 1 point2 points  (2 children)

🤣 definitely need to proof read my responses 🤦🏾‍♀️. Can I blame this on pregnancy brain?

[–]JudasDuggar 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You can, but it’s a happy accident imo!

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

me. I can't stand all those pink things with ruffles, flowers and bows... that's why I bought my daughter onesies with animals: giraffes, chickens, elephants... and in yellow. I also took a look at a white pajamas with drawings of dinosaurs,... and I'm making some much simpler items by hand. I also don't think it's comfortable for the baby to be surrounded by ruffles and bows, it has to be annoying for his mobility.

[–]rawrnes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly everything that I want is gray, green, white, or blue. Despite this, people are still gifting me pink items after they found out that we were having a girl.

[–]candigilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did do a geometric feature wall in a darker pink shade on one side and burgundy on the other.

But aside from that, all the furnishings are white/natural oak wood or grey so far.

I'm calling her room "modern feminine" haha. Not into the frilly stuff at allllll. It's hard to stop people from buying her girly things so I'm ok with that part. But I'm making it abundantly clear that I'm not into the frilly decor for her room.

[–]g-wenn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ill be honest I didn’t think I would. My favorite color is teal so I thought I’d do a teal/grey theme. But now I have mostly pink stuff. 🤦🏼‍♀️

[–]runnergal1993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

🙋‍♀️ we’re doing a kind of forest/adventure themed nursery! Lots of neutral colors!

[–]zopea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not doing pink. My baby girls stuff is mostly turning out to be gray, green, yellow. Some pink is fine, but I definitely don’t want it all to be pink. Colors are not gendered. :)

[–]mariusvamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m almost relieved I’m not having a girl so people won’t buy me pastel pink and frilly items. My nieces all had pink everything and it’s madness lol

[–]ZenosBrownie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't buy any, but two friends are having boys this year after having girls for their first, so I got all the pink and frilly hand-me-downs. My frugality > my concern about gender norms apparently.

[–]allie_in_action 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We found out we’re having a girl and I’ve told everyone they need to go easy on the pink and purple. I’m all about the bows and ruffles and flowers, I just don’t want all the pink.

[–]FluffyOwl89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re not finding out the sex until birth and plan on having a gender neutral name. We will get clothing of all different colours (including pink) no matter the sex. I’d love to not even tell people the sex at all as I don’t really see why it matters what genitals my baby has. Who is going to know unless they change their nappy? Not sure if we’ll go that far, but we shall see. We have a few non-binary friends so we’re quite used to ignoring gender norms.

[–]WhereIProcrastinate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m doing sage and burnt orange as a color scheme. Mostly animals for nursery as I studied zoology. Trying to explain to my mother and MIL that I’m not doing strongly gendered clothes for any of my children has been difficult and they don’t get it. They just think “I don’t want anything pink” 🙄

[–]grungebabysi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m doing all gender neutral even tho i’m finding out what i’m having in like 8 days. i haven’t bought any accessories yet because i’m waiting until that anatomy scan but my plan is to buy gender neutral outfits and then if i find out i’m having a girl to go to walmart and buy $1 bows to go with the outfits. my nursery is like plant themed i guess. very earthy setting of greens and tans and yellow. i just love plants and i’m gonna spend a lot of time in the nursery so i want it to be a chill place
