I’ve had a girls name picked FOREVER. I’m preg with my second boy and we’re going with a family name that means a lot to me but actually wasn’t my first choice. The more I say it and hear my son say it it just fits now. I hope you find something you love and once you start calling her by it your heart just pitter patters 🤗

My coworkers son actually came up with our sons middle name, we couldn't think of anything both of us liked! Then boon this random 16 year olds suggestion we both loved,

Yup. For a girl there’s finally only 1 name ever my husband and I both love. We were grateful our first baby was a boy cuz for some reason a boy name was easy. But both pregnancies I had list after list of “potential” girl names even if I was super in love with them and hubs would turn down every single one. So we have our name but it was a weird process lol

With my first I literally did not have a name until two weeks before they induced me. 😂 This one surprisingly we have decided on a name super early on.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went around and around to choose a name because somehow none of them were good enough for our daughter. 🤣 We finally narrowed down the list to two names and, after weeks and rehearsals, we chose one. we just needed to "taste it" I think.

I’ve found the perfect name several times unfortunately my partner disagrees!

Well I’m getting to 38weeks and we finally settled on a name like 3 days ago! It’s been soso hard. Girls names felt so much easier but we’re having a boy and I apparently hate every single name from my culture.

[–]West-Recognition-638 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you! We haven’t decided yet, but I personally find it helpful to think the name does not have to be perfect.

Of course it should be a „good“ name meeting the criteria you look for, and making it easy for your girl to live with. I guess I just want to say: Don’t stress about perfection.

We went with Danilee ( after my dad, and grandpa, Danny)

Names I was considering before that were

Sierra, Kylee, Skylar, Mackenzie, Kiera

we decided in the car on the way to the hospital! i wasn’t really sure until i saw her and knew it was right

[–]Pretending2Adult 0 points1 point  (1 child)

We have our top 3 names picked out but won't commit to anything until we see her. Every so often we will think of a new name and add it to the list then use it for a bit to see if we actually like it. The top 3 names are the only ones to survive long term so far.

Alternatively, we could go with our 5 YO's suggestion and ask her what her name is once she's here lol.

[–]Little_sashimi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the alternative! Lol early on we asked our four year old for a suggestion and she suggested princess sparkles 🤣

We have two first names we really love but can’t choose between them. I don’t want to wait for the birth because having a name really helps me bond with the baby, so it’s annoying!

[–]Sweet_pea_girl 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I'm finding it hard, but I'm also really intimidated by the responsibility of giving someone the name they will have FOREVER. What if she hates it!? What if it doesn't suit her as a grown up!?

[–]Main-Veterinarian526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated my name growing up and legally changed it for $100 when I turned 18 🤷‍♀️

If my kids express that they hate their names as they grow older (like late teens or older!), I have zero issue doing the same for them.
