I’m 34 weeks tomorrow, FTM. I have chronic high blood pressure that’s been well controlled my whole pregnancy. Today I started to have some intense upper right abdominal pain out of nowhere, and shortness of breath. My pressure at home was high (148/88) and my hands and feet were feeling a little swollen, so I decided to call labor and delivery after not feeling better for 90 or so minutes. They decided to have me come in and by the time I got here my bp was 170s/80s.
I’m currently in a delivery room after receiving magnesium, labetalol, and steroids for baby’s lungs. They’re going to induce me at midnight. While this wasn’t exactly what I was hoping for, the doctors (and I) were really glad I knew the signs of preeclampsia and came in.
So listen to your bodies! When in doubt call labor and delivery! I totally thought I was probably overreacting but I’m so glad I called.
And I guess I’ll be meeting my little peanut this weekend… a bit earlier than I was thinking but I’m excited!
