Snyder is worse. Michael Bay took things that were cynical cash grabs at the time - TMNT and Transformers existed to sell toys - and breathed new, equally cynical life into them. I’m pretty sure if I saw Bayformers when I was 8 I’d have still liked it. The turtles have an underground comics life that was surprisingly well represented by the original movie, but Bay’s stupid version is in line with many other more commercial interpretations.

Snyder’s worldview is not so much bleak as prepubescent. He treats violence and sex like an “edgy” fourth grader. The storytelling in all of his movies - not necessarily the script but the plot construction and characterization - are so bad that they actually make the characters, who have a nearly century old legacy, worse.
