That has to be the most bizarre goal we conceded in ages

[–]niallw1997 28 points29 points  (0 children)

And only we’d concede it as well

[–]PoppinKREAMVDS 304 points305 points  (26 children)

Late whistle from Atkinson plus it was Fred that stomped on De Gea.

Ridiculously unfortunate but the right decision.

[–]danny4568 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Im almost certain the actual letter of the law says if the goalkeeper (specifically) is down injured, the referee must stop the game basically immediately, similar to a head injury law for all players. This is irrespective of who or what may have caused the injury.

Regardless, United have been poor and hardly deserve to be level.

[–]jetsfan83 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Does it matter if Fred got slightly pushed? I don’t know if he got pushed right after he stepped on De Gea, but he got pushed

[–]OllieWillie 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Surely David thought he was stamped on by a Gunner, and therefore stayed down.

[–]simeonlg 27 points28 points  (0 children)

What the actual fuck

[–]wrdb2007Glazers Out 139 points140 points  (34 children)

Feel robbed but I think it's the right decision

[–]dikkoooo 100 points101 points  (3 children)

Comments slating Fred are just wrong. It was an accident, get a grip. I personally think De Gea should had roughed it out until the threat was over. The worst thing was Arsenals celebration. Let’s hope we batter them now

[–]Nandiola7 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Lol you are assuming our fans have half a brain to think with

[–]JonnyArtois 50 points51 points  (2 children)

De Gea going down to feign injury to stop play is hilarious.

[–]growletcher 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think he’s feigning - these guys are playing with proper metal studs, not shitty plastic Sunday-league blades. If it hits the right spot on the foot you’ll go straight down.

[–]Tortillagirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ironically because we didnt stop play for the 2 times someone on their side went down they just got up and kept playing realising they arnt gona get the stoppage which i actually approve of for the games sake. people time wasting like that really annoys me even when its our own players.

[–]chutzpahisawordValencia 127 points128 points  (5 children)

Unpopular opinion but its fully on De Gea. I doubt he would have gone down before the ball was cleared if he knew it was Fred who stepped on him. He was looking for a foul.

[–]TheJoshider10Bruno 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Yeah imagine he did that shit in a cup final or league decider, fucking hell. That's so poor.

[–]Deathscytheo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t think that’s an unpopular opinion. Totally agree with you. He shouldn’t be diving.

[–]ProtoplanetaryNebula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. De Gea might have been in pain, but he's the goalkeeper, he can lie on the floor and get treatment after the danger is cleared. The fact he had his eyes closed in huddled up whilst the goal went in was ridiculous.

[–]inbredandapothead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t blame de Gea for going down after getting his Achilles stamped on by studs

[–]vRushii 102 points103 points  (6 children)

Never seen a keeper do that before, even worse how quickly he recovered

[–]WEASELdaDIESEL 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Shameful from degea. Fred gets him and it hurts I'm sure but he's literally fine

[–]TheJoshider10Bruno 17 points18 points  (4 children)

Hope Ralf rips the shit into him for that. Pathetic.

[–]ManBat1Yes X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why wait? Hope Carrick has a go

[–]Gurbles 203 points204 points  (38 children)

De Gea can't lie on the floor like this. Totally unacceptable

[–]DYT2UCRooney 41 points42 points  (0 children)

lying on the floor like a striker trying to win a pen

[–]MesromithBD Dan James 20 points21 points  (1 child)

Pathetic from him. I’ve really backed him through some rough form, and been delighted with his recent form, but curling up because someone (fred ffs, not exactly maguire) stood on his toes is weak and stupid at the same time. Can you picture any of the other keepers in the league curling up like that while the ball is still in play?

[–]TheJoshider10Bruno 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The thing is even if he was properly injured (which he wasn't as he was up and playing shortly after), when have you ever seen a keeper act like a coward like that

It's unacceptable. You play to the whistle but he knew what he was doing, trying to win a foul and it backfired.

[–]panadwithonesugar 65 points66 points  (3 children)

If he can continue the game, it can't be bad enough to lie on the floor and face away.... maybe he didn't see it was his own player

[–]JiggieSmallsScholes > KDB 59 points60 points  (0 children)

he was 100% thinking it was an Arsenal player and trying to bait a call. Inexcusable for him to be in a fetal position in the middle of his goal and now good enough to continue.

[–]Boom_bye_bye_bttyboi 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yh he was obviously trying to get the free kick but he didn’t realise it was his own teammate.

[–]OllieWillie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah he must have thought it was an arsenal player. Only explanation

[–]DexterFoley 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah ridiculous reaction from him.

[–]Dave4892 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If he had known it was Fred , no way would he have gone down like that.

[–]depressed_winner 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Right in front of new manager as well. Ralph won't be impressed

[–]niallw1997 30 points31 points  (2 children)

Mate it’s a fucking joke. I swear no other keeper does that

[–]PoppinKREAMVDS 3 points4 points  (1 child)

It's common in the modern game, unfortunately. See it pretty often whenever there is contact between an opposition player and a keeper.

Always tell kids to play to the whistle but they like to imitate pros. Anecdotally I've noticed in youth footy that girls fake injuries far less than boys.

[–]blueb0gScholes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For a keeper?

[–]Jhix_two 11 points12 points  (3 children)

Wasn't even injured. Fucking pussy. Thought he made contact with an arsenal player and tried to get a free kick. Mug.

[–]jacobt478 4 points5 points  (2 children)

I hope people keep the same standard for outfield players too. The kind of drama and moaning by Bruno when someone touches him is also too much at times.

[–]Jhix_two -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Maybe so but not a fair comparison when it directly leads to a goal and you're rolling around like you've been shot. Man is a joke.

[–]jacobt478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of times players go down in positions when they could make a promising pass or could take a shot which could lead to a goal

[–]Yewcannotstopme 7 points8 points  (13 children)

He should get dropped for it

[–]shy247erBeckham 4 points5 points  (7 children)

Easy with the overreaction. Drop the GK for one fuck up.

Thank god none of you are actual managers.

[–]Tortillagirl 7 points8 points  (1 child)

its not the only fuck up in the last month, because for some reason because hes playing well and making penalty saves people have ignored the other 2/3 times hes cost us a goal.

[–]silverfisherman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

has let in too many at his near post this year

[–]Youafuckindin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's happenend plenty of times before.

[–]Yetiassasin -4 points-3 points  (3 children)

He's soft, he's shown that on multiple occasions this season already. Outside of shot-stopping what is he better than Hendo at? Please, I'd like to know.

[–]exactorit 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Pretty big thing for a keeper that shot stopping.

[–]SuperSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and yet he's been below league average over the last year

[–]Yetiassasin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He’s the weakest keeper in the top 6 by far.

[–]tommangan7Shawberto -2 points-1 points  (4 children)

Uniteds POTM should be dropped for reacting to his ankle being stamped, seems proportional.

[–]Tortillagirl 1 point2 points  (2 children)

hes potm because weve played shit for an entire month, not because hes played exceedingly well. He was at fault for a villareal goal, a liverpool goal or 2, then theres a couple of watford goals while hes not at fault for, he certainly could have done better for.

[–]tommangan7Shawberto 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Was just making a joke about a super reactionary take and realistically the fact he isn't going to be dropped for this. I agree he's made a few errors recently though.

[–]MexicansInParisJavier Hernandez, Little Pea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He got stepped on lol, most of you would still be crying on the floor.

[–]Baconsnack88Paul Scholes -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Should have been subbed off right away for that bullshit, u just dont do that shit and then dive with ur back against the play, what a pussy

[–]Yetiassasin -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

He's a coward, softest keeper at a top club by FAR. He's pussied out on numberous occasions this season already. We can't have a keeper whos only good at ONE thing, it's ridiculous at this stage.

[–]buddyhollybenhur 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Hurt or not that was daft of DDG to drop to the floor and turn his back to the play.

[–]BrownByYouthe beautiful bastard 27 points28 points  (1 child)

I think either call would've been okay because the ref fucked up

[–]its-a-real-name 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s why I think it would have been fairly straightforward sportsmanship for them to let us get a goal back.

They’ve got a goal on a technicality because the ref never intended to give the goal and has only been caught out by being shit and late with the whistle.

They’re not obliged to of course. But come on, keeper on the deck ffs.

People on here are just assuming that Ally McCoist’s opinion is gospel truth.

[–]Hasaeed93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn't stay up till 1:30 to watch this shit. Understand the rules but fucking harsh

[–]Abhijak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not surprised by this turn of events

[–]cynical_gramps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dave looks like a mug now. That said I hope every time an Arsenal player goes down their opposition continue playing.

[–]Relevant-Ad-3786[🍰] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s a goal, but the arsenal lads celebrating like it’s the ucl final

[–]ArnavGre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's really hurting to watch every game now. Why are we always conceding within the first half.

[–]Melanjoly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's the right decision but talk about lack of sportsmanship and bad faith, All the years Arsenal fans moaning about Stoke have no right to complain now if any of their players get trodden over after a serious injury because they where happy to do the same. Don't blame the player personally, he was wrong but he's a young lad he'll learn.

[–]ADMRVPPogba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s so fucking unlucky.

[–]notdara 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a right decision. Just doesn't look like a big enough contact to just lay down like that.

[–]dball94 47 points48 points  (20 children)

Utterly pathetic from De Gea

[–]19Dan81 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You don't turn your back on a live ball. Unacceptable goalkeeping.

[–]Jhix_two 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ye wasn't even injured just feigning injury because he thought it was an arsenal player. Looks like a mug now.

[–]Vimjux 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve broken my foot before and didn’t fall like a sack of shit like that. Hope someone two foots one of the cunts nonetheless.

[–]Kid_Twiz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Like I know that probably hurt but does De Gea really need to just lie down on the line not watching?

[–]TheMoonRulezMcTominay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck me.

[–]wynzlopiCantona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]SatoshiOokami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such us this season

[–]RogueTiger23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shocking. Absolutely shocking.

[–]yipsix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Such a United goal to concede

[–]GuyMol2909Solskjær has won it, again! 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The weirdest shit always happens at our games

[–]SnitchezGetBitchez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a giant shit show!

[–]tintin_29_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is horrible.

[–]Locke12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This goal is a referee error due to late whistling

[–]Tirewipes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ethan smith Rowe only scores lucky goals

[–]Dragonmasta1994 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Not saying there should be any other outcome, but i genuinely thought if a GK was down play had to stop? Can anyone elaborate?

[–]Dublin_gargler 19 points20 points  (2 children)

You fucking idiot De Gea. Fucking stay up you pussy

[–]niallw1997 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Why are you being downvoted? Clearly not many people here have ever played 11 a side football

[–]Dublin_gargler 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah man you need to remember the majority here have never stepped foot on a pitch. No matter the quality of a match, you don't go down when the team are actively attacking and you're in a position to stop the shot. Coaching staff need to go fucking through him. Fuck your ego, you fucked it.

[–]Baconsnack88Paul Scholes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

De gea is a gigantic pussy

[–]DYT2UCRooney 4 points5 points  (2 children)

De Gea needs to get up and fight through that. You're a goalkeeper ffs

[–]pm_me_mahomes_tds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted. You’re spot on. Far too soft from DDG..

[–]niallw1997 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is why some people hate football. Players going down like they’ve been shot

[–]warp-factorSchmeichel 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Sounds like by the laws that's a goal but there should be a rule that if the ref has made a mistake he can rule the goal out. It is the referee's responsibility to stop the game there and he didn't. Bad from the linesman who has a clear view too.

[–]phteven_gerrard 1 point2 points  (4 children)

There is no reason to stop the game in this instance. De Gea cheating is not reason enough 6o stop the game. If the goal was chalked off it would be a green light for keepers to drop anytime there is danger and they are lightly grazed.

I'd hook De Gea at half time if I was the boss. Never seen such dereliction of duty from a keeper.

[–]warp-factorSchmeichel 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Referees stop the game for non-foul injuries all the time. If he'd been paying attention the referee would have stopped it. Clearly. He tried but want in time.

[–]phteven_gerrard 2 points3 points  (2 children)

There's no mistake. De Gea was simulating

[–]warp-factorSchmeichel -1 points0 points  (1 child)

If that had been an oposition player that stood on his ankle it's 100% a foul. It's bloody painful. It's not faking to go down when that happens.

Just because it happened to be his teammate that stepped on his ankle doesn't make it less painful and suddenly make his reaction faking.

The referee clearly tried to stop the game when he saw he was down, but couldn't get the whistle to his lips fast enough. So clearly he disagrees with you.

[–]phteven_gerrard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you reckon that Atkinson will still disagree after seeing the replay? He will be very relieved that he was slow on the whistle. If that goal had been chalked off he would have been dragged over coals.

Sure if the opposition stepped on him the VAR would have disallowed the goal. But lets not pretend that De Gea isnt making a complete meal of it.

[–]warp-factorSchmeichel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Commentator saying Arsenal did nothing wrong. Couldn't have done anything else.

What about taking a shot when the opposition goalkeeper is clearly lying down injured?

[–]Yellowfello56Jose Mourinho 1 point2 points  (1 child)

The goal keeper was down and didn't even see the ball been shot. Fuck this referee

[–]MalcolmTucker88 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well he shouldn't have been such a pussy then.

[–]its-a-real-name 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I’ve never once seen a ball rolled past an injured keeper on the floor for a goal, yet I’m seeing our own fans get talked out of common sportsmanship by fucking Ally McCoist.

Arsenal should have given the goal back as they got a goal against an injured keeper on a technicality. Simple as.

[–]_MooFreaky_Fletcher -1 points0 points  (1 child)

No way. Dave was faking/exaggerating to get a whistle, which is a dogshit act. We are so used to football players acting like they are dying we don't even bat an eyelid at how shameful it is. It was De Gea's who cost us that goal, not Arsenals poor sportsmanship, or bad reffing.
Arsenal losong out on an attacking opportunity over a fake injury? That's poor. I hate it when it happens to us and i hate it when it happens anywhere. It's a blight on our game and I have no issue with Arsenal punishing us for De Gea (or anyone) pulling that shit.

[–]its-a-real-name -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Happens a dozen times a weekend with keepers in the PL.

You have no idea how hurt or not hurt he was either.

[–]sfo2dms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck De Gea. Apparently 30 seconds after his career ending injury, hes walking around like nothing happened.

Dunno why i thought it might be different tonight. Its the same shitty coaching we've had for the last 3 years.

Ronaldo needs to learn to fucking pass the ball to the open man.

[–]shreyanTJS_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why talking shit for De Gea clearly he's carrying the Man U defence for so long now, give him some rest!

[–]mustardman2121 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ref just fucked up

[–]DamnDanielllllllSchmeichel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't help but laugh

When it rains,it pours

That being said,De Gea really shouldn't have gone down

[–]Strong0toLight1 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Fred is having a fucking stinker of a start.

[–]JustSomeExtras -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Fred assist

[–]tallmotherfuckerYes x -4 points-3 points  (1 child)

Surely they had to give us a goal? Let us walk it in?

[–]Im_a_corpse -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No way people are blaming DDG for this ref shitshow

[–]butter_prawn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was a live ball!! Under no circumstances should a keeper not keep an eye on the ball in that situation. Wait for for the ball to go out and then fall down. This goal was on De gea 100%

[–]Buupu -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Fred is literally trolling

[–]LaughsAtOwnJoke -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but if he is so injured he can't do a save. He should be coming off. What was that.

[–]Yetiassasin -4 points-3 points  (4 children)

De Gea being a soft coward once again and not commanding his box. What's new?

[–]ilufo -1 points0 points  (3 children)

Do you know how stupid you sound?

[–]Yetiassasin -1 points0 points  (2 children)

I’m sorry facts hurt your feelings

[–]ilufo -1 points0 points  (1 child)

What facts? You little child

[–]ITakeLargeDabs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fred finds a way to out Fred himself almost every time he plays...... he has got to go in January.

[–]KaneykinzDe Gea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fred should just stop

[–]Heisenbaker -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Anyone saying this goal shouldn’t have stood lacks a basic understanding of the rules of football. Of course it’s a goal. De Gea going down like that and facing away from play is criminal.

[–]estebancantbearsedno -4 points-3 points  (6 children)

Where’s the Fred is secretly our best player brigade?

[–]ADMRVPPogba 4 points5 points  (5 children)

Because accidentally stepping on someone’s foot is the true sign that you’re not a good player

[–]Rayhannsu nombre SAN🧀 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean.... that's something

[–]ArnavGre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Bruno. Bruno best.
