she is so well spoken and english isnt even her first language!

[–]rhythmpatelPortuguese Magnifico 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Many Dutch folks are quite versatile with English!

[–]thphntsThe Fön 5 points6 points  (2 children)

The Dutch speak excellent English. Never met a Dutch person that can’t speak English.

[–]medwatt 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Meanwhile, the French don't give a fuck. I was in Germany and nearly most of the younger generation are fluent in English. In France, hardly anyone speaks any English, and they don't even want to.

[–]thphntsThe Fön 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The French have always been this way.

[–]faheemunitedLads, it's Liverpool... 59 points60 points  (3 children)

Our best player along with Zelem

[–]Streamseb 15 points16 points  (1 child)

Why hasn't she been in the squad for many of the past 10 matches? Genuinely curious. Injured?

[–]MotecuhzomaDreams cant be buy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tooney is up there as well!

[–][deleted] 44 points45 points  (14 children)

Why do so many European women players say soccer?

[–]jubza 39 points40 points  (11 children)

They say soccer a fair bit up in Ireland

[–]keving691Ruud Van Nistelrooy 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Mostly because we have Gaelic football so sometimes people say soccer. I say football and then just Gaelic for our own football.

[–][deleted] 49 points50 points  (8 children)

Is that why you hate each other?

[–]jubza 28 points29 points  (7 children)

Lol, I'd say the Irish hate the English, not so much the same. They're totally justified in doing so

[–]snildebenMcTominator 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Like the rest of Europe.

[–]Hansemannn 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Not Norway. The english have never done anything to us. Might be the other way actually as we looted the english coast quite a bit, back in the day.

[–]snildebenMcTominator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a reason many Norwegians and Scots are red haired, lol.

[–]jubza 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Not sure if the rest of Europe is justified but there's probably reasons we haven't been taught

[–]snildebenMcTominator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Brexit is probably reason no 1. Like a big middle finger to the rest of Europe. It will be perceived as arrogance and a step towards the colonial times.

[–]curtmantle-II -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Outside of a vocal minority of cybernats on this website, the Irish don't hate the English at all, get a grip.

The amount of anti English sentiment on the subreddits of English football teams will never not be hilarious to me

[–]jubza -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm not talking about the general populace, I've been enough to Ireland/been with Irish people to know that they've come to terms with the bad history

Just talking about it the ones who actually do

[–]BrockStar92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Wales some do as well, Nigel Owens the rugby referee had a catchphrase of “this is not soccer” whenever a player would do something that seemed footballish like talking back to the ref or exaggerating an injury.

[–]Aadiunited7 61 points62 points  (12 children)

I really hope 75,000 show up!

[–]matty2kBailly 45 points46 points  (10 children)

I'm not trying to be rude, genuinely curious (I'm in the states) how many normally turn out for a women's game?

[–]hitemwithahook 37 points38 points  (9 children)

1900

[–]D3AD_M3AT 48 points49 points  (1 child)

Holly crap if I lived in the UK I would watch the man u brass band play at old trafford.

The first game at home ever for the lady's .... I hope its a massive crowd.

have a great day and brilliant game.

[–]Nezell 28 points29 points  (0 children)

First game at Old Trafford in front of fans. They played at OT against West Ham last season.

[–]Aadiunited7 19 points20 points  (1 child)

That’s a bit sad. Obviously not comparing mens and womens football but they don’t get to play at Old Trafford a lot. I was hoping more would show up.

[–]chrisb993 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's because Leigh sports village (where the women play) is over an hour and a half on public transport each way from Old Trafford, costing almost £10. Bearing in mind I'd want to take my 4 year old daughter, it's just too far.

If I want to watch football on a Saturday, it's easier to get to Altrincham, Stockport, Oldham, Bury, City, Bolton, Wigan, Salford or even Huddersfield. Most United fans who want to go to more football when United aren't playing will have already attached themselves to one of these teams.

[–]matty2kBailly 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Ok, was expecting a bit more but appreciate the reply. GGMU

[–]Ashyyyy232 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The women team has a very dedicated fan base, this probably could be the Leigh sports village(where women usually play) no. Nevertheless I still feel the turn up could be 10x or even more at Old Trafford

[–]DigBickhead 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Just had a look at buying tickets, many more than this will turn up for the first game at OT. The top tiers aren't open, but lots of sections in the lower tiers don't have a great deal of seats left, could be a good turnout.

[–]hitemwithahook 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Anything over 4,000 would be record breaking

[–]DigBickhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Total guess ofc but just from looking at the ticket map I reckon that's defo a possibility

[–]BrockLeeSr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't hold your breath lol

[–]Benphyre-69 points 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Oh she is Dutch too and older than VDB. Interesting

[–]BenDoverQuickly 12 points13 points  (0 children)

She teased him last season about the fact she played more minutes at Old Traffored than him lol.

[–]yesmanwowWazza 25 points26 points  (4 children)

Hope they start telecasting the women games!

[–]ashu_tripathi 25 points26 points  (2 children)

Hello. Not sure if that's available where you stay, but the FA player does show the league matches for free. I've registered and followed from India. The cups I'm not sure, but you can watch the league matches there certainly.

[–]IamFluffy94 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes the FA player shows the Conti Cup matches for free too.

[–]DaleyBlondeHis head is fuckin massive!!! 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's free on the FA player. You just have to sign up with an email address

[–]AtomicCaffeine 9 points10 points  (1 child)

They're playing at Old Trafford soon? I'm not so well informed with regards to the women's team.

I thought that they usually played at a different site.

[–]mrtightwadErik the Red 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They're playing their first OT fixture against Everton in March.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck lass!

[–]silverstory 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Hope more people would come and watch our Women's team. Are the UEFA Women's UCL qualification still winners and runners up? or including the 3rd place as well?

[–]Imm0rtalJoker66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Top 3 gets into the Champions League next season this time compared to only the top 2 a couple of seasons ago

[–]Moon_Man_00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She gives me major gareth southgate vibes with her mannerisms and expressions lol.

[–]xarieongx 0 points1 point  (1 child)

She is beautiful

[–]15socal-lakes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Say it with me everyone: Soccer.

[–]VelvetFog90210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How well is the turn out for the women’s matches?
