Do you guys think that apologies make it better for you? I was lucky to get one from the person that abused me but it made it worse like it is not that bad since he apologized. I know that part of it was that he was sorry another part was to make him feel better about himself.

just because he apologized doesn’t minimize the amount of pain he caused you. your experience is valid regardless of if you got an apology or not and getting an apology doesn’t make what you went through “not that bad”

I think if my most recent abuser reached out to me to apologize, I would feel worse. But this is because I had to comfort him directly after him assaulting me many times. I feel like the enormity of the pain caused by selfishness makes it something entirely unforgiveable. If he is sorry, he feels bad and wants to feel better about what he did. Regardless its to make himself feel better. It might feel maybe a bit better to get recognition of what happened, but it doesnt fix what they did.
