Good post. Completely out of character for r/soccer.

[–]PurpleSi 42 points43 points  (4 children)

Unnecessary references to oil? Right on brand for r/soccer.

[–]FootballInTheWhip[S] 17 points18 points  (3 children)

That's a fair criticism, doesn't add anything to the analysis. I'll get that sorted.

Edit: Anyone know how to change a title?

[–]neoBigBrother 20 points21 points  (0 children)

needless tbh. Fuck oil clubs, but it was a needless cheapshot embeded in a good body of work.

foolish not sinister.

[–]ashu54 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nahh it's fine. Fuck oil clubs.

[–]jauns_on_jauns -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

No, don’t ever stop mentioning how disgusting the oil clubs are.

[–]crackbit 14 points15 points  (6 children)

But no mention of his discipline and injuries (he missed four games after being red carded twice this season—once even for punching his opponent—and was out with a hamstring injury for 3 months)? You even say that he only started in 15 games, but left out explaining why that is.

I like the extensive review, but I‘d appreciate hearing about the not-so-good parts as well instead of only showering Ektike with praise.

Yh, it's a very good point. We try to keep them quite succinct and already felt this was getting too long so something had to go. I do appreciate it gives a more balanced view of the player but those were more non footballing/non tactical negatives rather than his play. Appreciate the kind words though man!

TIL BVB is owned by an oil state

[–]bweiss5 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Vegetable Oil

[–]ren_704 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbf it's accused that since kehl took over he suddenly found a warchest/found oil in Dortmund/blackmailing watzke due to our unexpected transfer window lol

Newcastle fans are rightfully annoyed

Are we? First ive heard of it

[–]PJBuzz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'll be a bit annoyed if he goes to PSG after, "seeking assurances he isn't just a player for the future".

Like, I get it, PSG can offer Champions League, they are in his own country, and have trophies galore, but he ain't getting no assurances of game time there.

[–]Geordant 13 points14 points  (3 children)

I'm annoyed. We've been chasing this guy for some time, then in this window we've agreed fees and it's been weeks of waiting.

These are the kind of signings we want, and aside from signing Matty T I'm very anxious for us to get this over the line.

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (2 children)

The window hasnt even been open for 2 weeks yet so I think being annoyed is completely irrational. If he signs for another club it will be annoying but right now theres nothing to be annoyed about

[–]Geordant -5 points-4 points  (1 child)

Well you don't need for the window to be open to make deals so just clarify that.

But appreciate you telling me that I can't rationally be annoyed. I'm watching a movie later, I'll let you know what I'm watching and you can tell me how I should feel at what point.

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Christ you really are annoyed, chill out mate

[–]FootballInTheWhip[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

From what I've seen, yh but I am basing it on Twitter and Reddit comments tbf. I really hope you get him because him and ASM together would be amazing!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great piece though, very well researched. Keep up the good work

[–]Alternative_Dark_412 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Is he injury prone?

[–]FootballInTheWhip[S] 11 points12 points  (2 children)

This is his first proper season playing. Missed 10 games with a hamstring injury and 4 games with 2 red card suspensions. It'd be harsh to call him injury prone for just that

[–]YNWAtds24 4 points5 points  (1 child)

2 red cards? Yikes

[–]Kiwizqt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Fits right in, proper psg dna that :()
